Arena: Centrico Plaza

Centrico Plaza is the crown jewel resting in the core of Lumiose City. Just the Prism Tower, standing at the very center of it, is already one of the most widely recognized landmarks of the entire region; and even the rest of the location isn't too shabby, with verdant gardens, beautifully patterned cobblestone pathes, the sound of the river running underneath the floor, and a surrounding circle of mid-height Kalosian houses, the splendorous local arquitecture adorning the plaza as a foil. Many businesses have come into being at the ground floors of the area, but today, the world-famous roundway of egg hatching is all Asber's, with barriers sealing off all of the many roads leading into the city's very own hub -- and of course, curious crowds gathering at the edges to watch the competition.

For this round of the tournament, each player has been loaned a fresh Pokémon from Kalos. Battles in this round will not last longer than five rounds; if neither Pokémon has fainted by the end of the fifth round, the winning trainer will be the one with the greatest sum of health and energy remaining on their Pokémon.

Oh hey look, does that count as first Dedenne?

Discharge thrice, swapping out for Charge Beam (swept around if there are clones) if you're Tormented or otherwise can't Discharge, or if Klefki is Protecting or otherwise unhittable for reasons other than Subsitute (we may as well try to get a sp atk. boost, eh?).

If there's a Light Screen, keep Discharging until Klefki is paralyzed. If there's a screen and he's paralyzed, smack him around with Dig. If you're to Dig but Klefki is under the effects of Magnet Rise, use Charge Beam instead.

Discharge/Charge Beam/Dig x3

Boo-boo Keys! ♥

Let's start out simple, my darling Boo-boo Keys. Lead in with Safeguard, then Swagger! You're the best fairy type out there, and you know it, oh mighty key-based slayer of dragons. Finish with Flash Cannon.

Safeguard ~ Swagger ~ Flash Cannon

Against the humming bed of Centrico Plaza's endless bustle, the sound of Pokeballs opening was almost unnoticeable. Blazheirio889's rental Dedenne popped out of its container excitedly, his wide eyes taking in the beauty of the plaza. Noticing his temporary partner, he darted around her feet, sniffing excitedly. A few yards away, another rental Pokemon, a gleaming Klefki, floated in front of Coloursfall. Peering through hollow black eyes, the mysterious Fairy Pokemon offered his key, which Coloursfall shook, amused.

The Omskivar waved his flags minutes later as the Trainers and their rented Pokemon assumed their positions.

Dedenne sparked its cheeks, ready to go, but was surprised to see Boo-boo Keys one step ahead, a translucent white barrier conforming to his wrought-metal frame. Even so, Dedenne grinned as he released an electric blast, surprisingly large for such a small Pokemon. Boo-boo Keys shook with a tinny hum, then tossed his head, letting the residual sparks dissipate against his Safeguard.

"Is that the best you can do?" he scoffed, his voice seeming even more ethereal with no easily-discernible lip analogue. "You're a disgrace to the Fairy name. Your Trainer would have been better off renting a Goomy."

Dedenne closed its mouth, realizing that it had fallen open. The insolence! The outrage! He dares! The tiny rodent's cheeks flared with angry sparks. Quickly, in a fit of rage, Dedenne unleashed two more violent bursts of lightning. Passersby in the plaza covered their faces and hurried past the battlefield as The Omskivar attempted to redirect pedestrian traffic. Boo-boo Keys panted (at least, that's what it sounded like), though his Safeguard held strong, and as the sparks died, a new light formed in the middle of his ring.

A bright white light appeared, then formed a ball, which swelled to meet the ring's edge. Pulsing with Steel energy, the ball burst, a stream of light erupting from it and striking Dedenne in the chest. The poor, tiny creature was lifted into the air, and bounced to land at its Trainer's feet as the round came to a close.

Okay Boo-boo Keys, that went pretty well, didn't it? Let's have some more fun, shall we!

Jingle jingle time! Lead in with Metal Sound, then two more Flash Cannon. If he attempts to status you after your Safeguard is up, use your tricksy powers to pop up another one. If he protects, power yourself up with Calm Mind!

Metal Sound / Calm Mind ~ Flash Cannon / Calm Mind ~ Flash Cannon / Safeguard / Calm Mind

Okay. Clear your mind a bit with a Chill, first of all. If you can, try to cover your ears, too, so that nasty Metal Sound won't affect you as much. Then, Super Fang. If you missed your Super Fang or you were confused, give me a dodge-and-attack Dig; otherwise, a 15% Substitute would be great.

Chill ~ Super Fang ~ Substitute (15%)/Dig (dodge and attack)

Edit: I need to give you a name! How about... Taranis?

I've been asked to take The Omskivar's place here for a round, so I went ahead and took a long time on his behalf- I mean, uh, reffed on his behalf.

-----

Taranis reentered combat a little more eager than would have been ideal. Now that he had a name, he was certain that he'd succeed at stuffing some humble pie down that miserable keyhole of his opponent's. It was no time for rest, he internally deemed. He simply started letting out chaotic bursts of electricity. But with no attempt or pretense to direct them in a way that would actually hit and hurt the opponent in any way, all he accomplished was finely searing his electric sacs and turning the tips of his antennae into smoke channels. He had little choice but to take that break after all, and by the time he started, it was a little late -- someplace nearby, the taxi cab that tried to charge a king's ransom from Coloursfall was getting keyed in the loudest, most unpleasant fashion possible.

Feeling a little more grounded after his initial failure -- and also overwhelmed by the urgent need to get his foe to stop the scratching noise -- he began to move according to plan. He let out a toothy grin before running for the mark, then leaping as protusions of energy stretched from his large frontal incisors. One fell nib, and he severed the keyring Pokémon's, well, keyring, forcing him to take a moment to weld it back while enduring some severe physical and emotional pain.

Boo-boo Keys grew fierce against the perceived attempt from the enemy to steal his valued treasure. He was all ready to go all-out offensive, firing blasts of light reflected from the tip of the keylike shape atop his head. This coupled with the previous sonorous malaise to form a full-fledged sensory overload on the Dedenne's brain, an assault that he could only begin to shield himself from by hiding behind a decoy of lightning given form and life -- and even that one just barely avoided being fully pierced by the blightful rays.

Performed: Metal Sound ~ Flash Cannon ~ Flash Cannon

Arena status: Unchanged.

Additional notes:
- Taranis hit himself in confusion at the first action.
- On the second action, Boo-boo Keys hit the damage cap upon being hit by Super Fang, then ate his Oran Berry.
- I'm not sure if Taramis's confusion severity should drop at this point; I'll leave that up to, hopefully, Omskivar. If this info is necessary, the rolls on the second and third actions were very successful, both at 90+.
- blazheirio889 commands first next round.

and I wouldn't have it any other way

Sorry I've been gone guys. I'll edit this into the post (because apparently I can do that) but the confusion severity did drop to moderate. Post away!

Ah, in that case, Taranis should've taken an extra 1% from the Flash Cannon in round 1, right?

Okay, Taranis, while you're still protected by your Substitute, Chill and try to clear your mind. Follow that up with two Discharges, and make sure they're spread out enough to hit all targets if there are clones.

If Klefki has a Light Screen up or you can't use Discharge due to Torment, smack him around with Dig instead. Swap back to Discharge if Klefki also has a Reflect or is Magnet Rising. Let's see if we can't get him paralyzed! Finally, if you can't hit Klefki or his Substitute (if there is one) with your designated attack for whatever reason (e.g. Protect, you can't use Discharge but Klefki is Magnet Rising to avoid Dig, etc.) then use Rain Dance.

Chill ~ Discharge/Dig/Rain Dance x2

As stated would be the case, blazheirio889 is disqualified. Coloursfall gets $10 and advances to the next round. I'm... not entirely certain as to how to divvy up the referee prize here, if at all, so for the time being, it'll be nil.
