Chaon vs. Xaldin

Okay Valence, let's blow off some steam by stomping that Monkey into the ground one more time. Then protect yourself from oncoming attacks. And lastly, use take down.

The air is also very dry, making it easy to light things on fire.
Arena status: Unchanged.

-----

As the commands were once more issued, Valence’s anger, although still alive, was no longer even visible. After hearing their orders, both battlers turned around and faced each other, at first looking focused and ready to spring to action.

The latter, however, was not Fireblitz’s intention, as he settled down on his back for a quick breather.

Tough luck. His opponent fiercely rose upon her hind legs, landing powerfully on his chest. The sudden attack totally caught the Chimchar by surprise. Coupled with how difficult the weight on the lungs made it to breathe, the shock completely stopped him from having a relaxed time. The attacker, on the other hand, definitely managed to blow off some steam after landing an attack that startling. She then stepped backwards a bit, feeling peaceful.

At this moment of calm, the chimp seized the opportunity to make his next move. He laid one of his knees on the ground, trying to make a pose. He noticed it was pointless, as the target’s eyes were closed. He went straight to the next step of the move. He started to pronounce a loud, cheesy declaration of (fake) love. However, a green barrier revealed itself around the foe, blocking all the sound produced by the attacker.

As she opened her eyes again, Valence sprinted toward her opponent once more, knocking him aside with a swing of her head. The solid hit showed no mercy for her neck and nor for the fire-type monkey’s backside.

Recovering quickly, however, Fireblitz did a back flip, then leapt upward and reached for a bough hanging from a tree, not very far off the ground. From there, he jumped from branch to branch, eventually disappearing into the thick foliage. Not knowing where to expect the attack to come from, the target began to focus, trying to figure her opponent’s position.

But it was in vain. Suddenly, the Chimchar popped up from behind, landing a flying roundhouse kick to the back of the Ponyta’s neck. The very well-landed, unexpected hit sent the fiery steed straight towards the ground, severely affecting her senses.

As she clumsily tried to stand up again, the pain of the poison bit her veins once more, further suppressing her attempts.

Additional notes:
- I recently noticed I’m stupid and, at Round 2, the Commands section listed Valence’s and Fireblitz’s attacks the other way around. Fixed now.
- This round, the boost granted by Valence’s second Agility went away. For the record, the third one ends at Round 8.
- Stomp on the first action caused Fireblitz to flinch; thus, he didn’t use Chill, and didn’t recover energy.
- Rock Climb on the third action both landed a critical hit and caused confusion.
- I reduced the energy cost for Rock Climb by one because it’s not hard to assume Chimchar are, as chimp Pokémon, used to climbing.
- Chaon attacks first next round.

Damnit Valence, don't give up on me now. I want you to taunt the enemy with all you've got. Then Protect yourself, then just chill for a minute.

The tension in the dry air was building up as both sides issued commands. Whatever way it went, the battle certainly did not look it was going to last much longer.

Valence tried to stand up, moving to perform the next move… But before she could even think about what she was supposed to do, the spinning world around her made her attempts futile. The constant tripping around didn’t seem to prove any better for her head either, specially not with all the crashing down. Fireblitz sat with his back to a tree and relaxed, enjoying the show.

After much hitting the ground, the Ponyta finally achieved her standard position, at which point she just stood still, stumbling to maintain her balance. She looked like she was going through some degree of effort… But her opponent paid no mind, still chilling around.

After a while of stalemates, the fiery steed noticed her foe was definitely not going to perform an attack anytime soon, so, she gave up to her dizziness and settled down on the ground, taking deep breaths. As she stopped trying to move, her senses began to become more stable, but nevertheless spun around wildly.

A decision she was going to regret soon. Fireblitz stood up, then once more called upon the electric powers that hid in his essence, to throw a move that he had used several times earlier during the match. The relaxing target seemed to be perfect to land a strike on the weak spot. He ran and took a leap, ready to smash Valence’s neck with his sparkling fist… But he slipped up on the timing, hitting an unrelated spot instead for usual amounts of damage.

As soon as the attack landed, the poison began to go wild in the Ponyta’s veins once more.

- Forgot to damage Valence for her poisoning last round. Compensated for it this round.
- Xaldin attacks first next round.

OK, that was a good show, now use a Thunder Punch, Rock Climb, and a Brick Break! If at any time she uses a phsyical attack, just counter!

The battle looked like it wasn’t far from over. Both sides intended to fight to the end, so, the commands were issued as usual.

As far as Valence understood, she was meant to try and avoid the opponent’s attacks, and chill if it seemed necessary. She noticed her foe begin to prepare an attack – the usual calling upon electric powers then sending them to the fist. She tried to get away from the uppercut that followed, but, with her scrambled senses, she barely managed to stay on her feet until the attack landed. Having failed to avoid the opponent’s attack, she decided to not make that moment a total waste, and took a few seconds to draw some breath.

Catious, the Ponyta took a few steps away from her foe, preparing to avoid further attacks. However, Fireblitz did the same, moving away from the foe… And to the treetops. Knowing what was coming next, she deemed it useless to try getting away, so, she settled down on the ground. Her foe came flying down from behind… But, on the last moment, she rolled to the side, as the attacker landed awkwardly.

The next move, however, was harder to avoid. The fiery steed prepared to move away from her opponent, but, the Chimchar took a wild leap onto her back, unleashing a right punch and a left punch as he landed. He finished the combo striking a final blow to her neck, which tossed her aside and forced him to jump away.

She decided to relax on the ground again. While she could recover some energy, the poison bit her veins once more, even stronger than the last time. She started to feel a bit faint…

Hang in there Valence! Make a substitute and chill behind it for a while. Maybe we can tire him out.

Woah.. Thought it was energy, my bad!

If with "normal sized" you mean "medium sized", sorry, you can't do that. They cost 15% health, and Valence's at 14%.

I'll let you edit that if you do it before Xaldin posts. Otherwise, I'll assume you meant to use a 10% Substitute.

OK lets them put up a subsitute (That way, when we win we get more money... we do right?) Just chill, then ThunderPunch, then chill.

Commands were issued one last time.

Valence struggled to stand, but managed, afterwards taking a deep breath. As she did previously in the fight, she focused some of her life energy in front of her, creating a copy of herself. They looked almost identical, but the fake was slightly smaller. The real deal collapsed, beginning to feel her consciousness slip away.

Fireblitz didn’t bother giving the move any attention, though, as he took a deep breath sitting on a large root above the ground, being careful not to set fire to the tree.

After relaxing a bit, he approached his foe’s Substitute, then did the usual calling upon electric powers, then throwing an electric uppercut. As it landed on the jaw, it made a crack, but failed to make that much impact. As this occurred, the true Ponyta laid down on the grass, trying to regain energy.

The Chimchar chose to join his opponent, and both took to staring at the thick leaves that cut off most light from outside. For a few moments, it was all bliss and calm.

The fiery steed still felt on the edge of her consciousness, but she was feeling very energetic. She stood up, ready to attack… When she suddenly surrendered to her feet. The poison lingering in her veins had done her in.

Additional notes:
- The damage from poison knocked Valence out.
- For the record, Xaldin, you don’t get any extra money for how you acted in battle; in your case (i.e. you won), what matters is the amount of Pokémon you knocked out.

Well, this one’s over. It was fairly quick, and enjoyable as well. The spoils of war are as follows: Xaldin gets $8, and Fireblitz gets 2 points of experience; I get $5; Chaon gets $3 and Valence gets 1 point of experience.

If I didn’t miss anything, that’s all, folks.
