The Pokémon Showdown! Thread

Pokémon Showdown!

I basically made this thread as a place for those of us that use Pokémon Showdown! to kind of congregate, talk about teams and specific Pokémon you've seen, and most importantly, to discuss possible battles with one another! If you're in need of a mentor or are willing to help someone along in their competitive battling experience, don't hesitate to post here!

to discuss possible battles with one another!
Yeah, um... Haven't battled in forever, sooo anyone who posts on here and is willing to battle here I am.

Edit: Oh by the way, I play on OU.

Re: The Pokémon Showdown! Thread

I am Superbird on Pokémon Showdown, and I mostly do VGC and Doubles. Because I find them the most relevant, and because doubles just has so many more strategies than singles, which I find to be boring and overcentralized on just a few pokémon per tier.

Re: The Pokémon Showdown! Thread

Hi der! Anyone else tired of seeing the same old thing? I'm SO tired of all these "geniuses" who use the same old strategy. It's like noobtoobing. I hate it. The worst part is that you can't use the ones like cause they're "outclassed". Well, I have come up with a solution. Stop using Showdown, and start using Battle Spot. It's RIGHT THERE!
Sorry. I had to get that off my chest. :sunglasses:

Wow. Where did that come from? Seriously, though, Smogon and Showdown are great, but I feel like, as someone who wants to go pro, they aren't helping as much, because Smogon is focused around Showdown, and Showdown has it's own follower base. The doubles aren't the same, so who do I go to for advice that will actually GO somewhere?

Re: The Pokémon Showdown! Thread

Well, most Pokémon are voted to be banhammered before they're actually banhammered. In any case, most of the competitive community actually follows the tiers set in place by Smogon, so that you don't go online and end up fighting a bunch of level 100 Reshirams and Mega Kangaskhan. The only Pokémon that are banhammered are the ones that really need it, so I don't actually see much of a problem with the scale put in by Smogon!

Re: The Pokémon Showdown! Thread

The worst part is that you can't use the ones like cause they're "outclassed".

The entire point of tiers in the first place is to allow people to do this and have a chance. It's part of the game that some pokémon are completely stronger than others, and thus the weaker ones can't compete. Tiers are what give those poor weaklings a chance to fight with things their own size.

And Battle Spot just has too many people doing cheap legendary stuff, whereas Pokémon Showdown has people actually using coherent strategies.

The sun team is brand new, so it could probably be better, but it's going pretty well so far. Flygon used to be a Venusaur and Charizard used to be a Ninetales. My rain team is a lot older but I recently took out Starmie for Forretress. Also my rain team is finally all named! It took a while.

I'm on a lot so feel free to VM me! Also I'm completely free tomorrow and Friday this week.

Yeah, I suppose showdown has flaws, but it's a really good tool for trainers. I was wrong about it.
