The Omskivar vs Legendaryseeker99

Byrus

Strange days ahead
Pronoun
he/him
5vs5 Double
DQ: 1 week
Damage Cap: 35%
Move Limits: Direct healing moves banned, Chills limit 3 per Pokemon, no OHKO moves, Sleep Talk allowed for Gen V Pokemon
Arena: Evolutionary Cavern

A peculiar cavern made entirely of glowing white rock. It seems that this rock is the raw form of elemental stones; they radiate evolutionary power. Any basic- or middle-stage Pokemon battling in this cavern will be temporarily transformed into their final evolutionary form for the duration of the battle, gaining access to any new attacks, abilities, or typings that evolution would bring about. Also, both Trainers and the referee physically age two years each round, though this will never kill them; it has absolutely nothing to do with the battle anyway. The light from the cavern results in a -1 accuracy drop for all Pokemon without abilities that prevent accuracy loss. There is a narrow stream running through the cavern that can provide enough water for a Surf.

Other: no fully-evolved Pokemon allowed. second-stage is alright

Okay okay okay this is going to be awesome.

Let's use Jaffacake and Frankie.

Frankie, spam Earthquake. You can't be Tormented. That's good. So if you are otherwise unable to attack due to a mental condition, clear your head. If you are unable to attack and have no mental conditions active, use Hone Claws, since you're a little lacking in Attack.

Jaffacake, you're going to be fine; I confirmed that Dusknoir are Inherently Hovering. Therefore you are free to do as you please, which would be preferably setting up a Trick Room. The Speed Order right now is Ninetales, then Nidoking, then Luxray, then Dusknoir; let's switch it up a little and have you moving first. It'll be awesome. I'm expecting a Dark-Type move sometime in there, so if Luxray used any super-effective moves on you during the first action that isn't Bite, Disable it. Otherwise, Toxic at Ninetales. If both of those are bad ideas, go for a Rock Slide. For the third action, you're still going first; if you managed to Toxic Ninetales, go ahead and Will-O-Wisp the Luxray. If you didn't manage to Toxic the Ninetales, do that now; if you're unable to do anything non-offensive, Rock Slide.

So that's:

Frankie: Earthquake/Hone Claws/clear head x3
Jaffacake: Trick Room~Disable/Toxic@Ninetales/Rock Slide~Toxic@Ninetales/Will-O-Wisp@Luxray/Rock Slide

Leafpaw, use Quick Attack and try to bowl over Frankie. Stand on top of him and try to keep him down: he may be a bit heavier than you, but you're stronger. Next, Snarl at your opponents. Lastly, Scary Face Frankie.

Quick Attack @Frankie~Snarl~Scary Face @Frankie

Rasvata, use Extrasensory on Jaffacakes. First, get into his mind. When (if) you can feel him concentrating on the Trick Room, unleash the Extrasensory on him. Next, Safeguard. We don't want any Poisons or Burns on us. Finally, Disable Frankie's Earthquake.

Extrasensory @Jaffacakes~Safeguard~Disable @Frankie

After a long trek, the three weary trainers finally find themselves at the heart of the fabled evolutionary cavern. The pearly white glow of the stones is almost blinding, but the trainers are savvy enough to bring some stylish shades to protect their eyes. They move carefully around the craggy surface, re-adjusting their eye-wear as they gingerly step over the thin stream. The sound of running water is the only sound in the empty cave, and overall, it proves to be a surprisingly peaceful place. For now, anyway.

The referee raises his flag, and the glittering cavern is illuminated even further when the trainers unleash their choices. Even with the glasses, everyone is forced to shield their eyes against the added burst of light. A Vulpix and a Shinx materialize on Legendaryseeker's side, while a Duskull and a male Nidoran appear next to The Omskivar. Before the Pokémon can come to grips with their dazzling surroundings, the stones suddenly begin to encase them in their blinding white light, and they give yelps and roars of surprise as they find their forms changing.

Rasvata's six tails bloom into nine, and her form grows larger and sleeker. She blinks rapidly, then turns around to look admiringly at her fan of tails. Next to her, Leafpaw begins to grow heavier and bulkier, and a bristling mane flares around his neck.

Jaffacake and Frankie soon complete their transformations too, and the Nidoking happily stomps at the ground as he tests out his newfound bulk. Jaffacake floats calmly overhead, looking quite interested in his newfound hands. When the battlers all turn to face one another, they have to squint against the dazzling glow, but Leafpaw's ferocious appearance and Jaffacake's strange, otherworldly cape don't go unnoticed.

Round one

With a shake of his mane, Leafpaw abruptly dashes forward, making a bee-line straight for Frankie. The Nidoking gives a startled grunt as Leafpaw slams into his armoured chest with all the strength he can muster, and Frankie takes a few unsteady steps backward. Leafpaw bares his fangs at the staggering Frankie, than bats him down fully with his heavy paws. Frankie gives an indignant bellow as Leafpaw tries to hold him down, and he furiously punches out at him in an attempt to throw him off. Leafpaw grimaces as the Nidoking lashes out with his flailing fists, but he tries his best to keep the big lizard in check.

While Frankie grapples with Leafpaw, Rasvata sets her sights on the ghost floating overhead. She pads a little closer to the looming spectre, then begins to concentrate on cracking into his puny mind. Her fan of tails swishes as her eyes begin to light up with a soft purple glow, and Jaffacake jolts forward, all thoughts of sugary treats suddenly banished from his mind. He gives a low hiss as he clutches at his head, his single red eye twitching in agitation. He’s fully aware of the presence in his mind, but he just can’t seem to shake the intruder away. Rasvata grins as she watches the irritated Dusknoir squirm, and she maintains her mental grip as she prepares to unleash the full brunt of her attack.

Meanwhile, Leafpaw is having trouble keeping Frankie subdued. The armoured lizard definitely isn’t appreciating the gigantic feline planted on his chest, and he’s making his displeasure known with his flailing fists. Leafpaw desperately tries to keep Frankie’s hands tied down by digging in his claws, but the Nidoking’s toughened hide makes the task difficult. Finally, Frankie manages to wrench one arm free, and he immediately slams it viciously against the earth. Leafpaw gives a frustrated yowl as the floor suddenly jolts, and the sudden impact loosens his grip and throws him forward. Frankie grins as he watches Leafpaw fall face-first into the ground, and he quickly takes the opportunity to scramble upright. With a rumbling growl, Frankie slams his heavy fist into the ground, and a ripple of cracks begins to run along the length of the cavern floor.

The rumbling earth quickly distracts Rasvata from her task at hand, and she gives a startled yelp as she is suddenly tossed forward. She lands clumsily, but struggles desperately to keep her hold on Jaffacake even as the earthquake grows in power. Her grip inevitably loosens however, and Jaffacake gives an inward sigh of relief as the pressure fades a little. Now fully free, Frankie slams his fists into the floor with gusto, and adds in a few stomps for good measure. Leafpaw and Rasvata are tossed about helplessly, snarling and yowling as rocks crumble down from the ceiling. The glow in Rasvata’s eyes starts to falter as she loses concentration, and she desperately unleashes the pent up energy in one powerful burst, hoping vehemently that it will get the job done.

Jaffacake gives a sudden howl as a bolt of pain runs through his head, causing him to careen erratically through the air. The Dusknoir had been trying to concentrate on the complicated task at hand, and the extrasensory strikes at a bad time. Nevertheless, he tries his best to work through the pain, and a growing orb of psychic energy begins to swirl steadily in the palm of his hand. As the earthquake begins to die down, Leafpaw and Rasvata both fall harshly onto the craggy ground, each one uttering a pained groan. Rasvata finds herself unable to keep her attack going, and Jaffacake takes the chance to unleash the pent up power. He spreads out his hands, sending the network of psychic energy flowing throughout the cavern, and the air begins to ripple and distort as the trick room takes hold.

Rasvata and Leafpaw shakily get to their feet, their coats looking roughed up with bumps and cuts. They both take uncertain steps forward, looking disorientated and nervous about the strange psychic charge in the air. Jaffacake gives a hissing chuckle as he effortlessly glides forward, eager to take advantage of his newfound agility. A nasty, tar-like substance begins to hiss and drip from his hands as he looms over Rasvata, and he hurls the glob of venom at her with malicious glee. Rasvata scrambles to generate a safeguard, but she can’t compete with Jaffacake’s newfound speed, and the toxins splatter onto her coat. Rasvata gives a disgusted howl as the poisons hisses and burns into her skin, and Jaffacake bursts into a peal of mocking laughter as the green glow of the safeguard surrounds her irritated skin. Too little, too late.

Leafpaw glowers as he hears the laughter of the ghost overhead, and his tail swishes slowly from side to side as he bares his fangs. Jaffacake’s laughter is cut short as he hears a low growl, and he can’t help cringing as he sees the enraged Luxray glaring at him. The triumphant looking Frankie also falters a little as he sees the ferocious beast, and he grits his teeth as he slowly backs away, his head lowered. Spurred on by his opponent’s reactions, Leafpaw raises his growl to a loud snarl laced with dark energy, and both Frankie and Jaffcake cover their heads and cower down as they’re battered by the awful sound waves.

Even as Leafpaw’s snarl trails off, Frankie is still left grimacing and clutching at his head. As embarrassing as it is for a big tough beast like himself to admit; that Luxray sure is scary… Still, even the most terrifying monster can’t withstand a full-force earthquake. Frankie slams his fist into the cracked earth again, triggering another fault-line deep within the ground. Rasvata and Leafpaw each give groans of annoyance as the familiar rumbling starts up, and they’re once again tossed bodily about by the force of the quake.

Although he’s still a little shaky from the nasty snarl, Jaffacake does find himself feeling a little better after watching that damn cat get thrown on his ass. His eye gleams as he zooms in on his fallen foes, and he takes a moment to access the situation. He’s supposed to burn Leafpaw, but the shimmering green shield surrounding his foes would probably make that a bad idea. Jaffacake turns his attention to the milky white walls of the cavern, then idly raises his arms. There is a loud cracking sound as Jaffacake begins to manipulate the rocks with his mental powers, and a torrent of stones begins to tumble down toward his foes. Rasvata gasps and manages to leap out of the way just in time, but Leafpaw is not so lucky, and he finds himself battered by the cascade of stones.

Leafpaw gives an angry growl as he pulls himself from under the rocks, and Rasvata looks on at her partner with concern. The Luxray is far from deterred though, and he quickly sets his sights on Frankie to vent out his ire. His eyes gleam bright yellow as he stares the Nidoking down, and Frankie slowly begins to back away as he sees Leafpaw bare his fangs in a snarl. Frankie just can't help cringing away from the terrifying beast advancing on him, and his bulky tail lashes against the ground in agitation. He can actually feel himself starting to tremble under Leafpaw's intense stare, much to his embarrassment.

Eventually however, Frankie manages to pull himself together long enough to launch a counter attack. Keeping his gaze firmly averted from the big scary lion, he bashes the already ruined earth with his fists, causing another sudden tremor. The floor cracks even further, sending jolts rippling throughout the cavern and loosening the rocks overhead as Rasvata and Leafpaw are hurled around helplessly.

Rasvata gives a frustrated snarl as she staggers to her feet again, her nine tails dragging limply behind her. She's had just about enough of Frankie's earth shaking, and she's more than happy to take the opportunity to put a stop to it. Her eyes gleam with a silver light, and she fixes her furious gaze firmly on Frankie, worming her way into his mind. Frankie freezes in place, and Rasvata sends a bright silver spark of psychic energy leaping towards him. When he regains his movement, Frankie is left looking a little puzzled and disorientated. His mind feels strangely fuzzy, and he's positive he's forgotten something...

Arena notes

The ground is very badly cracked by the repeated quakes, and shards of rock litter the floor.

Time is warped by trick room; to last for three more actions.

Battle notes

- Thanks for being patient guys, sorry for the lateness.
- For reference, I'm using Negrek's scale, and moves that target both foes are reduced to 75% of their base power. (As it is in the games.)
- Leafpaw wasn't heavy enough to keep Frankie pinned down, but it cost Frankie extra energy to hurl him off.
- Earthquake distracted Rasvata from her extrasensory, but her meddling caused Jaffacake's trick room to be less effective, so it will end one action early.
- There's a lot to remember here, so hopefully I've got everything.
- Due to the effects of trick room, The Omskivar attacks first.

F*** yeah.

Alright, time to get this show going. Jaffacake, you're doing awesome. Start off by Spiting Disable. That should cripple them a little. After that, let's Rock Tomb Rasvata, just to be annoying. And thirdly, let's Psychic Leafpaw; if there's a fissure wide enough to plop him into it, let's do that, otherwise just knock him into the Rock Tomb a few times to try to disrupt Rasvata trying to get out. Why not.

Frankie, Earthquake is a tough thing to lose, but it's not for much longer. Start off with Earth Power--focus on a large crack, from the Earthquake. Try to make it wide enough to stick a Luxray into. If it's already wide enough, make it deeper. If for some reason this won't work, presumably by some action from the Ninetales, such as Taunt or similar, just use it on Luxray. Second and third actions, use Earth Power on Ninetales if you think you can do it without disrupting the Rock Tomb; I can't do the math myself, but if you move first on the second action, do this anyway. Otherwise, use a couple of one-turn Digs at Luxray.

If either of you are asleep or something, use Sleep Talk.

Jaffacake: Spite Disable/Sleep Talk~Rock Tomb @ Rasvata/Sleep Talk~Psychic @ Leafpaw/Sleep Talk
Frankie: Earth Power/Sleep Talk~Earth Power @ Rasvata/Dig @ Leafpaw/Sleep Talk x2

Okay Leafpaw, start off with a Magnet Rise. Eliminate that weakness! Then, Snarl again. Those two won't be so tough if their Special attacks don't hit as effectively. Finally, Ice Fang Frankie.

Magnet Rise~Snarl~Ice Fang @Frankie

Rasvata, we must first Psychic Frankie into Jaffacakes to activate the first step of our disrupting plan. Then, use Imprison to execute the final step of out totally evil master plan of world distruction enemy disruption! Finally, Faint Attack Jaffacakes to escape that pesky rocky prison (and hit his weak points for massive damage, to boot!)

Round two

With his eye set firmly on his target, Jaffacake drifts seamlessly through the air, then stops to loom overhead the vengeful looking Ninetales. Rasvata gives a snarl as she spots him, but the psychic charge in the air is making her agility work against her, and she is unable to react to his advance. Jaffacake watches on with amusement at Rasvata’s sluggish movement, then idly waves his arms over the struggling Ninetales. A thick, black aura of ghostly energy shimmers into life around his hands, then rapidly creeps down toward Rasvata, where it covers her in translucent shroud of black. Rasvata stops struggling, then shivers madly, giving a groan of revulsion at the feeling the spiteful aura imposes on her.

With a growl, Frankie smashes his fist against the tortured earth, and another alarming crack splits across the ground, rapidly snaking down to meet the other array of faults. As it nears the worst of the damaged ground, a loud rumbling begins to issue from deep within the earth, causing Leafpaw and Rasvata to shift about nervously. The rumbling quickly rises into a loud roar, and the earth bursts wide open as a plume of red hot power erupts from the ruins. Rasvata and Leafpaw instinctively leap back, but it’s clear that they aren’t the target of Frankie’s attack; the Nidoking has other plans. As the light fades, a deep fissure is left near the centre of the cave, adding to the array of hazards the ruined flooring now presents.

Although relieved that the attack wasn’t aimed at him, Leafpaw is fully aware that his luck won’t last forever, and he’s all too eager to take precautions. He lowers his head as he lapses into concentration, and his mane begins to bristle with electricity. The sparks gradually snake around his whole body, illuminating him with a yellow glow. As the glow intensifies, Leafpaw begins to drift upwards, his spiky form hovering above the ruins of the cave floor. He paddles his paws and careens about somewhat awkwardly before he manages to get the grip of the whole levitation thing, but soon enough, he’s floating about with as much grace as Jaffacake himself.

Rasvata can’t help but feel a bit jealous of her partner’s new trick; she really isn’t enjoying navigating the hap-hazard flooring. To make things worse, her next command isn’t ringing any bells with her. She gives it a try anyway, and squeezes her eyes shut as she attempts to focus her own psychic power. Unfortunately, while she certainly does possess some psi power herself, this particular move is just too advanced for her. Try as she might, she just can’t seem to master the technique.

Jaffacake gives a raspy laugh as he sees Rasvata’s dismayed look, then drifts over to her again, revelling in his temporary agility. He points at the ravaged earth beneath Rasvata’s paws, and another loud rumbling is soon audible; a sound that the battlers are quickly growing used to. Rasvata looks around wildly for an escape, but her limbs still feel sluggish and useless, and the ground beneath her cracks open before she can make an escape. She gives a yelp of pain and fear as pillars of rocks surround her from all sides, boxing her in and crushing her with their heavy embrace.

Leafpaw looks on helplessly as his distressed partner looks out fearfully from behind her rocky prison. Rasvata is scratching desperately at the rocks, but her foes aren’t finished with her just yet. Frankie grunts and lumbers forth, his heavy movement still surprisingly fluid and swift from the effects of the trick room. He smashes his fists into the floor with a growl, and yet another crack streaks forward, heading straight for Rasvata. She immediately begins to struggle harder, but to no avail, and she gives a howl of pain as the earth beneath her paws erupts in a bright blast of golden energy, leaving a nasty gash across her seared stomach. The attack also blasts a gaping hole in the middle of Rasvata’s rocky prison, though the dazed Ninetales is barely aware of the glimmer of hope.

Leafpaw casts another anxious look towards his partner before he turns towards his foes with renewed fury. He bares his fangs and lets out a low, threatening snarl laced with a bitter aura of dark energy. Frankie freezes in place when he hears the familiar sound, and he shrinks back a little, his earlier fear of the vicious Luxray quickly resurfacing. Jaffacake holds his head in his hands and swiftly backs off, shivering and shaking. Leafpaw snaps his jaws shut with a grin as he sees his cowed opponents, and hopes that’ll keep their egos deflated for a bit.

As her foes are left cringing, the shell-shocked Rasvata takes the opportunity to gather her wits. She pokes her head out of the sizeable gap in the tomb, and her eyes take on a sinister red glow as she mutters the words to an arcane sealing spell. Gradually, her whole body lights up with the same deep red of her eyes, and with a hissing snarl, she maliciously spits out the final words of the spell. The blood red glow abruptly blinks out with one last dazzling flash, and the startled Dusknoir and Nidoking are left with a nagging feeling of discontent.

Jaffacake gives a low groan as he uncertainly drifts upwards again, his single eye darting about nervously. He's only too happy to try and put some distance between himself and that menacing Luxray, and he hastily waves his shaking hands as latches onto Leafpaw with a wave of psychic energy. Leafpaw growls in agitation as his gentle drifting is disturbed, and he gives a startled howl as he is abruptly flung forward into the gaping fissure below. He strikes the rock with a harsh bang, and quickly finds himself being pushed down further into the opening by Jaffacakes' psychic grip. Leafpaw definitely isn't going to take this lying down however, and he viciously pushes back against the ghost's hold, putting his new levitation powers to the test as he fights to escape. Jaffacakes' eye widens in surprise and he strains to keep Leafpaw down, but he is eventually forced to relinquish his grip as Leafpaw bursts upwards with a sudden show of strength.

Frankie looks on despairingly as he sees Leafpaw make his hasty escape; he was really hoping his partner could take that loud-mouthed Luxray out of commission for a bit. No such luck though, so he's going to have to deal with it. Grumbling and muttering to himself, Frankie smashes his fists into the ruined ground again, swiftly triggering another eruption from underneath Rasvata and further searing her with burning energy.

Leafpaw is all too eager to avenge his partner however, and he dives through the air with his fangs bared in a snarl. A plume of frosty breath emerges from his jaws as he charges, and he lunges straight for the startled Nidoking. Frankie winces and covers his face with his arms, but luckily for him, Leafpaw's fangs come nowhere near him. Whether it's due to his lack of familiarity with his newfound levitation, or the sharp glare of the glowing rocks around them, Leafpaw completely overshoots his target and careens wildly through the air. Leafpaw flails about wildly before he regains his balance, and narrowly avoids sinking his teeth into solid rock. With a groan of embarrassment, Leafpaw floats backwards, barely managing to avoid the jagged rocks jutting upwards from the ravaged earth.

While Leafpaw hisses and spits in fury, the battered looking Rasvata struggles to her feet again. The concentrated flurry of attacks has really taken its toll on her, and the Ninetales is left looking worse for wear with all the deep gashes and cuts along her body. She sinks down and closes her eyes, and her body gradually begins to fade from view. Jaffacakes is completely unprepared when she makes her reappearance right in front of him, and she immediately lunges at him with her exposed fangs. She tears into the ghost, searing his body with burning dark energy and causing him to squirm in pain.

As Jaffacakes hastily bats her away, he suddenly feels the psychic charge in the air begin to fade, much to his disappointment. The Dusknoir's body feels heavy and graceless, while Rasvata feels the strength come flooding back into her limbs. It's of little consolation to her however, as she finds herself panting heavily from the pain of her wounds when she lands back among the jagged rocks.
