Banning Books

(yes, believe it or not, moms have porn too)

haha my biggest problem with that though is... the boob is not even at a front angle like
it's not even /that/ visible

anyways

^ I agree, Like I said, I never noticed it when I was younger.

Also, I'm more concerned with what that old guy behind her is doing. :/

*points at phone*

Why are you implying that women shouldn't be expected to look at pornography and it's purely a man thing?

No, I'm merely adding that, generally I think women (in this case, a mother) would hide their pornographic materials better than most men, in which it is in the same place for almost every man. :/ I wasn't trying to be sexist or anything, and I apologize.

That's still pretty sexist.

I know I've found my mom's vibrator a hell of a lot more times than I've found dad's Playboy backissues. (Goddammit mom, don't leave it in the living room! Or in the sandwich bag. Particularly in the sandwich bag. There are like ... sandwiches next to it. That people eat.)

Well, I've heard more women than men complain that it's evil. :P

Also, I think I read a statistic somewhere that claims that a greater percentage of men consume porn. I'll try and verify this once I'm back on my own computer and won't have to leave "PORN CONSUMPTION" on my cousin's search history.

But regardless, I agree that it's cool for women to enjoy porn. Why should us guys keep all the fun to ourselves?

It's the same people that require Macbeth for stage plays but ban Alice Cooper.
universally-renowned play of great literary significance vs. some rock band

!!

Thank god that my parents are either masters of hiding their sexual paraphenalia or have had their libidoes crushed and broken by sixteen years of parenting.

Alice Cooper got banned for excessive use of blood. Macbeth is more violent than Alice Cooper.

Given society's views on women looking at porn, it wouldn't be a surprise. If a guy's caught looking at porn, he's just being a guy; if a girl's caught, she's a deviant. Be sure to look for something that counts written porn as porn. Romance novels are popular for a reason....

Who banned it, and what does 'banned' mean in this context?

If a guy's caught looking at porn, he's just being a guy; if a girl's caught, she's a deviant.
I wasn't aware of this double-standard. I thought most people might be surprised to find out that women like porn, but after the initial shock they just think "lol we share interests".

There's a naked boob on the beach page.

Suddenly everything makes sense.

Uh, ontopic...

Personally I feel that some books shouldn't be accessible to children, but other than that I don't think that books should be banned.

re: where's waldo - I like the fact that the offending material in that book is a single black dot, i.e. the nipple drawn on the girl. We should be banning pretty much every book, because of the periods on the ends of the sentences!

re: porn - I think males definitely watch more porn than females, mostly because females just sort of aren't as turned on by it? It seems to me that females are kind of more into the romance/verbal aspect of love while males are more into the physical/visual aspects. Obviously this is not an absolute and there's a huge spectrum, but that's why many women like romance novels and most men don't. It's also why males are always talking about wanting to see more and more skin on a female, like saying stuff like "oh man, she's wearing short shorts, i'm getting a boner" whereas females generally aren't as interested in that, saying "eew, get some longer shorts". I mean part of this is societal too, but yeah.

I never really got this. It's totally acceptable for men to be/be shown topless, while if a woman's topless, the children need to be protected (or somesuch). But it's only the nipple of the woman that's found to be offensive (as in, on the cover of "lad's mags" with shirtless women on, it's only the nipple that's blanked out), but the nipple is, like, all men have?

i agree, it's a really funny aspect of our culture. plus it's not even the nipple of the breast that's arousing... it's the overall shape/form...

maybe it's just because there needs to be some sort of arbitrary "limit" on how much of the breast you can show? i mean if the general consensus was "don't show any of the breast - skin or nipple" it would be pretty hard to define when a woman's top is low-cut enough to warrant an arrest for public nudity.

I don't even think you should be arrested for public nudity. And I don't even like public nudity.
