Grate Aural Sects vs Big Red Cherry Bomb

Black Lotus Mausoleum

The Black Lotus Mausoleum is a vast area, easily large enough to fit several Wailord from end to end. It has a high vaulted ceiling, and is carved entirely from black marble. The ceiling his held up by several pillars carved like black dragons, and the walls are engraved with intricate but seemingly random shapes. There is a huge door in the farthest wall, but it is shut firmly, and impossible to destroy or open. It is flanked by twin dragon statues with their mouths wide open.

As the arena is inside, weather effects do not work. The Mausoleum seems oddly resistant to damage, and to repair itself of any harm in the last action of each round. The walls and ceiling cannot be collapsed, and the floor will take 5% extra energy to dig through.

If a battler gets too close to the twin dragons guarding the door, they will spew forth a torrent of Dark-type energy, dealing 5% damage to any within 3 feet of the door.

Lust takes in a deep breath and holds it, waiting for Milla to come closer. And the minccino does; she jumps towards the sneasel, ready to attack, only to be pummeled by a torrent of icy-cold wind. The wind is so strong it stops Milla completely, and she focuses instead on keeping her position on the ground, rather than being blown away into a wall. Ice and snow blows into her so hard it hurts and her fur feels like it's going to be ripped off, until quite suddenly the wind stops, Lust having run out of breath. Milla gets to her feet, brushes ice shards off her, shivering from cold and pain but determined to recooperate herself.

She runs back at the sneasel, jumps again and lands with a smack of her tiny fists on the ice-type's sensitive, bruised body. Lust shrieks in utter pain and falls to the ground, eyes rising in her skull in agony - whatever she did, she did not deserve this pain. It only takes a moment before she falls unconscious, falling to the ground so quick that Milla has to jump back to avoid being hit. Milla rubs more snow off her fur, glad to be rid of that damned sneasel.

While it may not look like we changed much, we apparently wiped that smile off Milla's face, so good work, Lust.

Despite some obvious problems, I think I want a starmie. So I'll send out ... eh? Staryu has no nickname yet? Let's fix that. It is now the Space Core.

...well Milla, looks like we're fighting the Space Core.

Urg why is everything faster than you. Okay anyway. Start with a Thunderwave, but if it uses a sub, then switch to Thunderbolt, and if it's a protect/similar then use Work Up.

Then beat on it with Thunderbolt, swapping to Work Up for any time you can't attack it.

Thunderwave/Thunderbolt/Work Up ~ Thunderbolt/Work Up ~ Thunderbolt/Work Up

A 15% sub should survive a non-crit tbolt easily enough, so use that to eat up two of them.

Afterwards, you'll be getting up close so as not to miss anything. Get right in Milla's face while protected by the sub and use zap cannon (how do you like your stupid paralysis, huh?) - thunderbolt probably isn't a move that lends itself well to movement. If Milla's able to get away anyhow, or your sub is gone, shoot off a thunder wave of your own.

Either way, she's hopefully paralysed, so it'll be even easier to get up close again and unleash the full power of SPACE - close-range hydro pump. But again, if you can't reliably get close, swap it out - scald, this time.

Before Milla can move, the newly-released Spacial Core squirts out a stream of water right beside itself, which quickly solidifies, as if wrapped in an invisible plastic holder, into a vaguely similar staryu-shape. The water glows bright and suddenly comes to life, still squishy and liquidy as ever but able to move around, wrapped in its invisible container and ready to protect its creator. Spacial Core hides behind the substitute, and really it's perfect timing.

Because Milla growls and sparks bright yellow, releasing a burst of electricity towards the staryu. Luckily Spacial Core's dummy takes the hit; the water flashes under the current of electricity, and the real staryu looks quite glad to have avoided that hit, because the substitute is barely left standing after the thunderbolt stops. In fact it's drooping over, spilling water onto the arena's floor, clearly only barely able to stay upright. Milla still frowns, having hoped to take care of the substitute in one hit.

Spacial Core zooms forwards, its dummy still following protectively in front of it; it floats right in front of Milla, only a few inches separating the two, and sparkles with pride and joy. The sparkle glows brighter and Milla hesitates, worried, before a bright ball of lightning erupts for Spacial Core's core and flows right into Milla's stomach, shocking her thoroughly. She winces and curls up into a ball, her entire body spasming with electricity; how strange that she had just used the same tactic, but her own electricity did nothing to her - and when used by the staryu, it left her spasming on the ground, unable to move. She twitched and whimpered, but slowly got back up, thankfully regaining mobility for the moment.

Spacial Core didn't move, but its substitute floated in front of it, still dripping water all over the place - and Milla's electricity sparked and burst onto the substitute, exploding it on impact. It really didn't require such a large hit, since it released all its water on the first spark, meaning the rest of the electricity went entirely to waste; Milla frowned, stomping on the puddle of what used to be the substitute, while Spacial Core seemed to grin, somehow.

Still only a few inches away from the minccino, Spacial Core turned over, its pointed edges now facing her instead of its core - and it began to spin, rapidly, gaining speed - Milla began to worry, before a sudden explosion of water erupted in her face, sending her flying into the wall behind her. The water kept coming, so powerful it felt like a brick wall in her face, and she was pinned against the wall until the water stopped and Spacial Core righted itself, and she slid down onto the floor, soaked through. She whimpered as she hit the ground, wet and pained.

And even worse, she couldn't get up. The electricity from before had shocked her system thoroughly and she was immobile. She twitched in her attempts to get up, do something, but it was futile; she couldn't move at all.

Hee!

I don't know if brine is like surf in needing a water source (since that would surely imply needing salty water as well, and that's less likely than having a plain water source) and we don't have time to ask, so here's an if-clause to the rescue. If you can simply use yourself as the source of water for a brine attack, just use that - a couple of hits would end the battle, so we can just go all-out offensive there.

Otherwise, this battle's going to take a bit longer, so I'll want you to set up a 15% substitute to help that happen. Follow up with scald attacks.

If she uses protect or otherwise prevents the effects of your attacks (barring a substitute of her own,), sub in a light screen, except on the first action, in which case you'll make the sub whether you can use brine or not.

It had been two months since either of the battlers had spoke, and now they were sitting cross-legged on the mausoleum floor, looking uneasy. No matter where they looked, there was always a dragon statue in sight, and they did not look welcoming. With their mouths open wide, eyes glowering, it was as if they were warning the humans not to stay for any longer. The referee, however, took no notice – in fact, he seemed to have fallen into a deep stupor. He did nothing but stare blankly ahead, and no amount of slapping, shaking, and pinching could snap him out of it.

Giving up, one of the battlers had called for an emergency referee. The call was quickly answered. Suddenly, the doors began to rattle furiously, as if someone was trying to get into the room. Predictably, they did not budge. Muffled curses reached the battlers’ ears, then a large portal opened up in the middle of the room and a gigantic mechanical dragon stepped out. Quickly, she rummaged through a bag hanging around her neck and drew out two small red flags, then waved them to continue the stalled battle.

Spacial Core, eager to finish the battle, immediately braced itself against the floor and pointed one of its arms at Milla. The Mincinno could only whimper before a stream of water rocketed towards her. It was not nearly as strong as the Hydro Pump – Milla was merely pushed back a foot or so. Unfortunately, while the attack lacked sheer power, it made up for it with deviousness. Instead of freshwater, Milla found herself doused with salt water. She screamed as the salt chafed her skin and ate at her wounds; it was even worse than being pinned to a wall with sheer amounts of liquid, and she thought the burning would never stop. At last, Spacial Core’s water supply was exhausted for the moment, and Milla managed to catch a moment’s reprieve. The Mincinno was a sorry sight indeed, dripping wet and absolutely miserable.

It seemed that the ASB deities enjoyed watching small mammals suffer. Milla’s body stiffened as paralysis seized her muscles again. Try as she might, she could not move so much as a paw. Even her eyelids refused to close. She didn’t have to move to clear her mind, but she was so panicked that it was a difficult task. Fear, exhaustion, and pain kept disrupting her attempts at calming herself down, and in the end she only managed to receive half the benefits.

It didn’t matter if Milla had successfully completed her Calm Mind, though. Another torrent of salt water blasted against the mammal’s body. Despite her improved resilience against the elements, the burning pain and the ice-cold water were too much for her. When the Brine was completed, Milla was lying in a crumpled, soaking heap on the floor, comatose.

Final notes
Milla was paralyzed on the first action.
Since Calm Mind doesn’t require movement, I rolled a dice to see if she’d be able to use it. As a result she got reduced effects (only +1 sp. def).
Milla fainted on the second action.

Milla was quickly absorbed into her Pokeball – even unconscious, the Mincinno twitched in pain. Coloursfall needed the salt out of her wounds quickly. Spacial Core spent a bit longer outside of her capsule. Upon being coaxed, it gave her trainer a high-five; then it was recalled as well.

The referee struggled to distribute the monetary prizes – the lack of opposable thumbs was irritating. After receiving the money, the trainers teleported off with the help of Kusarigamaitachi’s Abra. The referee decided to take the old-fashioned way out, tottering towards the doors. Apparently she didn’t know the arena well. Upon reaching the doors she was bathed with searing dark energy, and it was with a curse that she backed off, opened up a portal with her ninjatoes, and jumped in.

The battle is over and Kusarigamaitachi is the winner. It gets $16. Lust and Spacial Core both get 2 EXP, and Spacial Core can now evolve as it was holding a Water Stone.
Coloursfall gets $6, and Coeur and Milla both get 1 EXP.
I get $5 for reffing; Pathos can claim the other $5.
