Light Mightyena vs Kratos Aurion

Arena: Seviper Stadium

This 'stadium' is little more than an old warehouse that was once home to an illegal pokemon fighting ring. An eyesore of an abandoned building on the outside, the inside of Seviper Stadium is filled with crates, old folding chairs, and a few busted up wooden bleachers to sit on, all surrounding a moderately-sized area of concrete floor with a pokeball drawn on it with white paint. In the middle of the pokeball is a stylized Seviper painted in red, and at either and of the pokeball is a rectangle for each trainer to stand, along with a more freshly-painted rectangle off to one side for the referee.

Since the police have arrested the criminals who used to use it, the Stadium is open for any trainers to fight in, provided they have a League-approved referee and the proper safeties in place to prevent serious injury or death.

Seviper Stadium has no visible benefits or hindrances for any particular pokemon, though one should note that it was not made for incredibly large pokemon, nor is the ceiling overly high. There is also no way to be effected by the weather outside, and the concrete floor makes attacks that require tearing up the floor impossible.

*Light Mightyena strolls over to her side of the arena and gives the pokeball in her hand a casual toss. A Clefairy emerges from the burst of red light and glances around curiously. The little 'fairy then crosses her stubby arms as best she can and gives a cocky grin. "Bring it on."*

I choose Tinker as my first pokemon.

Clefairy, hmm... then I think I shall counter with my Turtwig, Laurasia.

Uh... simple stuff for now, m'dear. Start off with a Safeguard and then, uh...Growth and Razor Leaf. *flail* Why, yes, we are feeling uninspired today.

Safeguard ~ Growth ~ Razor Leaf

Alright, Tinker, now don't get too cocky. This is your first time in Seviper Stadium, so quit acting like you own the place. I don't care if you think you could snap that Turtwig in half. Now listen.

First, I want you to get in fast and bash Laurasia with a Meteor Mash attack. It won't stop the Safeguard from coming, but there's a chance it'll beef up your attack stat. If you don't manage to hit her or if you hit her and don't gain the attack boost, don't dwell on it; you need to keep sharp for your next action. Watch Laurasia carefully when she uses Growth. Then use Copycat to duplicate the effects for yourself. This ought to give a little extra punch for when she lets loose that Razor Leaf attack. I want you to use a Flamethrower to burn through those leaves and give Laurasia a good scorching.

Meteor Mash ~ Copycat (wait for Growth) ~ Flamethrower

btw guys if this goes like surskitty vs Sireafi and has an endless cycle of chilling and healing, there’s a ludicolo and togepi outside ready to use Magma Storm and Draco Meteor with all of their arena-destroying potential in effect. >:|

.: Battle :.

Though from the outside, Seviper Stadium looks just about ready to be torn down, the large, rectangular building remains intact, and careful inspection has revealed that there is little risk of the building collapsing unless subject to exceptionally powerful moves. Large crates and many seats for a mostly-absent audience form a vague circle around the centre of the arena. The old, peeling paint still manages its job of appointing spots for the trainers and providing a bit of decoration, while a more recently-painted rectangle provides a spot for the referee to stand – or sit, in this case, as it steals one of the folding chairs to sit on.

Next comes the formalities; the referee restates the rules, hands out lists of both trainers’ parties, and flips a coin to determine the battle order for the rest of the battle. It threatens the battlers’ lives in the situation where they make this battle extremely boring, but neither is particularly concerned; even if the referee had the resources to follow through with the threat, trying to do so would likely result in its inability to keep its job.

This done, the two trainers make their way over to their respective rectangles and turn to face each other. Light Mightyena tosses a pokéball onto the concrete floor, and it splits open to reveal a confident-looking clefairy. Kratos Aurion takes a moment to observe the clefairy, then sends out his own pokémon: a turtwig. His orders are quite simple, as are his opponent’s, and both are ready to act immediately when the referee calls for the battle to begin.

.: Actions :.

Tinker immediately runs forward, body beginning to glow with silver energy as she runs. Her fist is nearly blindingly brilliant as it strikes Laurasia’s face with enough force to push the turtwig back a few feet. Laurasia winces, still feeling the dull pain that tells her a bruise will form soon. As she blinks away the stars exploding in front of her eyes, Tinker backs off with a grin. She then waits impatiently, watching Laurasia close her eyes and concentrate. A pale green aura rises up from Laurasia’s skin, casting a soft glow on the ground beneath her.

Now Tinker stops her impatient foot-tapping and watches Laurasia carefully (though this time could just be used to get to the turtwig-splitting part of the battle, in her opinion). Laurasia’s eyes are still closed, but now she concentrates on growth instead. She suddenly grows slightly larger, and opens her eyes to find herself staring Tinker in the eye more directly than before. Tinker smirks at her, then closes her own eyes. She, too, suddenly grows larger, and opens her eyes upon completion to see Laurasia’s reaction. Laurasia’s blink of surprise is enough for Tinker, and she can’t help but let out a snicker.

Tinker waits for Laurasia to act again, twirling a hand through the air casually and feeling the air heat up. Laurasia, unaware of this, sharpens the edges of her head-leaves, then begins spinning them too quickly for the leaves to be seen – only green blurs are visible, and the sections of leaf that detach from the blurs. Hardly any manage to travel anywhere, however, before Tinker steps forward, pointing at Laurasia and loosing a stream of flames. The flames easily burn the leaves and nearly engulf Laurasia, licking at and scorching her skin painfully. Having not expected this at all, the shock causes her to cut off her own attack abruptly, and she isn’t prepared to defend even slightly against the attack. The flames quickly die down, and Tinker shakes her hand to disperse the heat around it before it can harm her.

Fragments of burnt leaf drift slowly to the ground. Laurasia grimaces and shivers, smoke drifting off of her body, but still stares at Tinker with calmness and determination. She doesn’t know if her aura managed to protect her from deep, crippling burns this time, but she knows that won’t be a threat. Meanwhile, the only thing Tinker has to protect her is a couple of metres of open space either could cross in moments, and her intrinsic ability that can’t compare to the aura protecting Laurasia.

Well that went well. Hey, wipe that grin off your face, Tinker. This battle isn't over.

First, I need you to put up a Light Screen to counteract that heightened special attack of Laurasia's.

Secondly, grab that Turtwig up in your Psychic. Pick her up and bash her against the floor a few times, then reel her in really close to you. We're going to be merciful and help her cool down after that burning hot attack last round; give her a nasty uppercut with your Ice Punch.

If, for some reason or another, Laurasia gets out of easy punching range or otherwise makes it difficult or impossible execute that attack, blast an Ice Beam at her instead.

Light Screen ~ Psychic ~ Ice Punch/Ice Beam

Hm. Unfortunate, yes, but not a complete loss! At the very least I can do what I wanted to do beforehand!

First of all, take the time to set up a nice Light Screen of your own. With any luck it'll disrupt her attempt to pick you up and throw you around next action, but at the very least it should weaken the attack. Next, a nice Worry Seed should cut right through that silly light screen and deprive Tinker of her cozy little Magic Guard ability entirely, allowing for more funtiems later on, yes? Even if she does manage to pick you up and draw you in, you should be able to fire it off point-blank. Nothing wrong with that, nosirree. Lastly, we'll cause a little damage of our own with Seed Bomb. Light Screen isn't going to stop that, now, is it? Alternatively, if she's in really close to you then we can get a jump on those funtiems with Toxic.

Light Screen ~ Worry Seed ~ Seed Bomb (at range)/Toxic (up close)

Tinker, still wearing a small smirk, puts her hands up in front of her and concentrates. The air in front of her sparkles, and more sparkles appear to fill in the spaces between the first sparkles. The sparkles then spread to meet each other to form a flat wall of pure light in front of Tinker, shining brilliantly. Laurasia takes this break to do the same, creating an identical wall of light in front of her. The lights both then fade enough for them to see each other through the screens, though they still glow brightly.

Tinker glares at Laurasia upon seeing her opponent’s light screen; she knows that it’ll make her next order more difficult to follow. Still, she extends her mental energies toward Laurasia. The psychic power passes through her light screen without effort, but upon reaching Laurasia’s, she finds it more difficult to move. She manages to, with effort, grab Laurasia and heave her up before slamming the turtwig down, two times as ordered. She then drags Laurasia toward her, but the effort strains her mind too much. She barely drags Laurasia a few decimetres before she has to let go for fear of exhausting herself. Panting, she glares. She can punch Laurasia from this distance, anyway, so it really doesn’t matter, but she’d’ve preferred a total success.

Laurasia is unbothered by the glare, though slightly bruised by the attack. She’s still feeling calm, though, and she knows that soon her opponent won’t be. A strange growth appears on the top of her stem, looking a bit like a strange-looking seed. It grows larger, until Laurasia deems it a sufficient size and launches it into the air. The seed arcs over Tinker’s head and lands on her back. It immediately sends out a root through Tinker’s skin. The uncomfortable feeling is too much for Tinker, overcoming her confidence quite easily.

Filled with too much worry to keep up the protective wall of light, Tinker lets it fizzle away in the air. Her eyes dart around nervously and her breathing quickens. She catches a glimpse of Laurasia’s green aura fading away, but she doesn’t pay much attention—the seed feels too weird, and she doesn’t know what it’s going to do to her; she wants to get rid of it.

Perhaps it’ll work if she gets rid of Laurasia, she thinks, feeling a cold sweat covering her skin. Her hand gets even colder, and she runs at Laurasia. As she pulls her fist back, her sweat freezes into frost, and she punches Laurasia’s shell; Laurasia, during Tinker’s charge, managed to turn her side so her head wouldn’t take the hit. She turns back toward Tinker when the clefairy backs off, drawing on the poisons in her body. She spits a dark liquid all over the bottom half of Tinker’s face, and the poison immediately begins to sink through Tinker’s face and into the bloodstream. Tinker shivers some more as the poison burns at her front while the seed’s roots keep growing into her back, and she doesn’t know if it’ll be good when the two clash, or even if they will.

Laurasia, if anything, is feeling much worse physically; her body hurts all over, but her head and one side of her shell hurt just a bit more. She, however, isn’t filled with the same worry as Tinker, and stares at Tinker quietly. Whatever she needs to do, she will, but she considers herself worse off at the moment.

I know it hurt, m'dear, but we can pull through this. This is the part where we get to start causing some real pain! As a precaution, back up and set up some Stealth Rocks first; as long as we've got the light screen up I want her at a distance, so if she wants to come after you she's going to have to eat some rocks. Or, well, whatever you can use as makeshift rocks in here, if there aren't any old hunks of concrete lying around or whatever. Now, you should be able to use Giga Drain at a distance, so I want you to try that; if you can't do that without getting close to her (or if she decides to eat rocks anyway and get close again) then use Energy Ball instead. Do the same thing for the last action.

Stealth Rock ~ Giga Drain/Energy Ball ~ Giga Drain/Energy Ball

Easy, Tinker. I know that seed's got you all worked up, and that poison's gotta feel awful, but have a little faith in ol' Light here.

You're faster than Laurasia, so you should be able to get in a hit before Stealth Rock becomes a problem (If it becomes a problem, but I wouldn't doubt there'd be something lying around that could work.). That Turtwig planted the nasty seed that's surely something awful, and she hit you with that horrible poisonous slime. She made you, Tinker, look like a fool! Make her pay with a taste of your Frustration.

Then I want you to use that lovely little attack known as Teleport to get in nice and close to Laurasia without hurting yourself on those stones. In fact, I want you to wait until she prepares her next attack so that it can double as a dodge.

Last, now that you're in the proper range, I want you to give her a Sweet Kiss...

...What? Don't look at me like that! I know you're not...You're supposed to confuse her with it.

Frustration ~ Teleport (avoid Giga Drain/Energy Ball, get in close) ~ Sweet Kiss

Tinker nods at her trainer’s words. Yes, indeed, the combination of poison and the strange plant taking root in her body both feel horrible. And she doesn’t like how Laurasia both inflicted them on her… actually, she’d even say she’s pretty mad about it. Furious, in fact. Yes… how dare Laurasia do something like that? Battles are supposed to be fun, and she’s ruining that! And Tinker can’t help but feel as miserable as she does, but it’s because of cheating, not even because of Laurasia’s strength! She can’t even feel good about how she’s winning! Scowling, she runs at Laurasia and pummels the turtwig to her heart’s content, easily passing through the barrier. Punching, kicking, and clawing at Laurasia, she adds several more bruises to the ones Laurasia already has to complain about.

Then she takes a few steps back, panting. After venting her frustrations out on Laurasia, she certainly does feel better. Tired, yes, and the roots are still making her more uncomfortable as they grow, but it feels nice to beat someone up. She even made Laurasia scream. Especially the source of all her frustrations.

Laurasia, meanwhile, gives Tinker a dirty look, then looks around for any raw materials to use. It’ll be tricky setting up the flying-rock-shard barrier between herself and Tinker since they’re quite close, but she thinks she could manage it… if there were any rocks anyway. She can see that there isn’t, and she can’t use the floor since it’s not broken enough… or break it… or bring in things from outside. There really is nothing she can do, so she moves onto the next thing. She gathers energy from around her – admittedly, there isn’t much, but she draws in energy from outside the arena as well. Since this place isn’t being upkept any more, there’s a significant overgrowth of plants gone wild outside, and their energy is strong enough for her to draw on even here. She opens her jaws as wide as possible, staring at Tinker, who is panting right in front of her. Tinker hasn’t moved at all and doesn’t seem like she’s about to, and at point-blank range this attack will hurt. A brilliant green ball forms in her mouth, created by the energy she took from nature, but Tinker suddenly disappears.

…and just then, Laurasia shoots out the orb, sending it smashing through a crate and into a wall. At the same time, the wall in front of her melts away and disappears completely.

Tinker reappears safely behind Laurasia, and blushes shyly. The blushing isn’t fake, as she’s quite embarrassed about what she’s going to do, and a bit reluctant… but it’s for the sake of winning, she’ll do it. She walks over to Laurasia’s side, and in front of Laurasia, taking in a deep breath. This is true courage, she thinks, rather than something involving battles. Then she leans in to kiss Laurasia’s cheek, but then Laurasia scrambles backward, gaping. Tinker blinks, quite sure she hadn’t made contact – but if it worked anyway, it would be kind of a relief. That’s when she sees another bright green sphere forming in Laurasia’s mouth, and suddenly it shoots out at her and strikes the middle of her body, throwing her onto her back back. Her cry is muffled by the energy striking her mouth, and she rubs at it, wincing. The feeling… it’s not quite like a burning one, but it’s similar, and just as painful.

Hmph! Figures that little grass turtle would scurry away. Still, you probably gave her a bit of a fright, and I doubt she's going to be overly keen on getting close to you after that.

Now, we've got to be a bit careful here. Laurasia's ability is Overgrow, which means that if her health dips down low enough, her grass type attacks will get more powerful. That means that if it dips down that far, we've got to get rid of the rest of her health fast. It's time we pull back on the beatings and a cool down a little so that your energy doesn't deplete faster than her health.

First, give that Turtwig a taste of your Thunder Wave. Let her see what it's like to have her body messed with. Then whip yourself up a 10% Substitute to watch your back while you take a minute to just sit back and Chill.

Tinker crackles with electricity, thin streams of electricity leaping all over her skin. Most of the streams gather around a sparking hand, which she points at Laurasia, glaring. The streams leap the short distance to Laurasia’s nose and all over the turtwig’s body, causing Laurasia to shudder and gasp as her muscles are stiffened to the point where she can barely move them. Laurasia, however, manages to lie on the ground, and closes her eyes. She begins to glow blue, and lose awareness of her surroundings as she focuses solely on healing her body. First she removes the uncomfortable cramped feeling of her muscles, helping her relax further. Then she begins the longer process of removing the multiple bruises and the minor burn all over her body.

Bluish energy swirls around Tinker’s body, especially concentrated around her arms and paws, and into an unshaped blob of energy in front of her. As more energy pours into the blob, it begins to take a shape similar to a clefairy, and details appear right down to the slight burns Tinker has around her mouth. The blue energy fades, revealing that the new creation’s colours match Tinker’s exactly. Despite this, there is some inherently fake quality to the substitute that distinguishes it from the real one. Laurasia, however, is ignorant of this in her trance-like state.

Laurasia relaxes further, letting herself regain energy even as she drains it to heal her multiple wounds. Tinker sits down and relaxes as well, relieved to have the opportunity to rest without being attacked. Even if her opponent tries, she’ll have protection against the attack. She need not worry, though, as Laurasia continues to relax with her opponent, breathing deeply.

Slowly, the glow around her body fades, and Laurasia opens her eyes, but she still keeps relaxing until orders say otherwise.

Hmmhmm well. Now that that's taken care of, let's see. Start off with a 15% Substitute of your own, and then let's just nerf away Tinker's sub with two Energy Balls. Why that...Well, time to make the best of it.

Okay, Tinker, you've got your Substitute up to keep you safe for a couple of actions. Let's make sure that Laurasia doesn't get one of her own by Singing your heart out and sending her off to dreamland.

Then, once she's asleep, steal a little of her success with your Dream Eater the next two actions. However, if your song fails, I want you to blast through that faux Turtwig with a duo of Flamethrowers.

.: Light Mightyena vs Kratos Aurion :: Round Five :.

Battle Format: 3 v 3

DQ Time: One Week
Damage Cap: None
Banned and Restricted Moves: Protect can only be used once. Otherwise, go crazy.

There is also no way to be effected by the weather outside, and the concrete floor makes attacks that require tearing up the floor impossible.

.: Actions :.

Tinker closes her eyes and starts to sing, immediately catching Laurasia’s attention. Though Laurasia is confused as to what this could be about, she has to admit that, yes, it’s a beautiful song, and Tinker has a nice voice. Though Laurasia doesn’t know the song well, she can’t find any mistakes. The song is rather soothing, too, and easily gets her to relax. She even feels a bit drowsy toward the song’s end, but Tinker finishes the song before she can even think of giving in to her drowsiness.

Laurasia compliments her on her voice and song, somewhat confused about its purpose, and then concentrates. She gathers her newly-restored life energy to her mouth, shaping it, then spits out a seed onto the ground. Tinker stares at it, aware of another seed growing in her, and steps back when she notices Laurasia doing the same. Two leaves grow out of the top of the seed, and the seed just grows as it is, into a strangely accurate shape of a turtwig. Spots of colour appear on the seed and spread, making it look even more like Laurasia. Tinker frowns, and Laurasia just blinks back.

Tinker waves a hand in a circle, heating up the air around it, and points it at Laurasia. Flames burst from the tips of her claws, but the decoy turtwig suddenly appears in front of Laurasia, blocking the flames with its body. The substitute blackens as the flames burn it, and when the stream of fire stops, some of the substitute crumbles. The substitute disappears and reappears beside Laurasia, and Laurasia draws natural energy from the world outside. She forms the energy into a ball and fires it at Tinker, but Tinker’s substitute leaps in the way, completely impassive even when the ball strikes it in the face. A dent forms in the substitute’s face, and cracks spread from the point of impact, but the substitute remains standing.

Shoving the substitute aside, Tinker waves her hand in a circle and points it at Laurasia, sending a stream of flames at her. The substitute and Laurasia switch places before the flames strike. The flames envelop the substitute. Even when the stream of flames stops, the substitute continues to burn, until suddenly the fire burns out – and the substitute crumbles to dust.

Laurasia is unbothered by this, and draws more natural energy into a sphere, which rockets toward the substitute instead; she knows it’s futile to aim at Tinker, anyway. The substitute shatters, and the pieces too shatter to dust, which sparkles prettily as it falls onto the floor.

Tinker grimaces, but not because of the substitute's death; she feels sort of like vomiting.
