Using my tablet in 'mouse mode' in GIMP?

Could anyone here help me? I'm trying to use my Bamboo tablet in GIMP 2.6.3 on 'mouse' mode. When I try and draw anything, the cursor isn't my paintbrush, instead the paintbrush is uh, like anchored in a particular direction so it's really difficult to draw anything. :|

I'd make a screencap but when I screencap things it doesn't show the cursor so uh.

In pen mode it's fine, but I detest pen mode because it's a pain in the ass having to switch between my pen and mouse just so I can go through the file menu or something.

It's only happening in GIMP and I'd rather not have to use paint for everything.

Any and all help would be appreciated. :/
