• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

"Location ... of the ref's choosing" where there are like, three fountains in Hearthome other than Amity Square ... pfft. Is okay, though, might give you a round's buffer time before Fantina comes for you.

Since this is ... this, would you prefer standard fainting rules (round ends) or for the round to keep going after someone faints?

Also, this is my claiming Windragon vs Grass King post, yes.

Temporarily calling off my Metronome battle with Mawile. Going to bring it up as soon as I have a spot that I won't be intending to use for, well, noble purposes, as we'll see later.

What are these slots everyone speaks of? Is there a limit to how many battles we can be having at once? I didn't see anything about that in "Intro To ASB" or "ASB Rules".

DQ: a week

Banned Moves: OHKO's
Arena: SGRUB Finale

A platform with a big SGRUB symbol on it. All the trolls will teleport onto the platform one by one, inflicting different effects.

Aradia will protect each Pokemon from mind control, granting them both +6 SpD for that round.
Tavros communes with each Pokemon, giving them an additional 10% energy.
Sollux gives each Pokemon a pair of 10% Substitutes.
Karkat yells at each Pokemon, therefore Taunting them.
Nepeta uses Assist, copying the power of one of her teammates.
Kanaya gives each Pokémon her trademarked wise advice and raise their Def to +6 for that round.
Terezi would conduct an INVESTIGATION and leave a bunch of scalemates everywhere, which you might trip over. They remain on the battlefield until they all fall off the platform. They can be picked up and thrown to deal minimal Dragon-typed damage.
Vriska boosts the battlers' critical hit ratios to the maximum and doubles the likelihood of the special effects of a move occurring (ie, Charge Beam would have a 20% chance of boosting SpA).
Equius infects everyone with his MANLINESS and gives them all +6 attack.
Gamzee severely confuses everyone.
Eridan grants both players scientific powers, boosting their SpA to +6.
Feferi kisses both players, giving them all 10% health.

You can only have the effects of a troll occur once; when all twelve teleport there, the battle with the Black King occurs; after that, the Scratch; then the match ends if it hasn't already.

Other: The effects of each troll last just one round- until the round right after they appear. There is a 50% chance of a troll appearing each round.

Base-stage Pokémon only.

Arena: Outskirts of Greenfield

A large dirt outcropping carved onto the side of a mountain, bordered by high ledges on one side and overlooking a forest with a village and mountains in the distance. The edge is guarded by easily-breakable wooden guardrails, and it's about a two-storey drop to the bottom.

There are about a half-dozen sturdy trees, strong enough to hold the average trainer in their branches, growing around the area, as well as some simple log benches. In the center of the outcropping lies a flowerbed approximately 20'x5' filled with fragrant blooms.

However, the most notable attraction to this otherwise bland rest stop is the hand-built playground equipment by the tall ledge, built for the enjoyment of trainers and pokémon alike. This includes a small wood-and-rope swingset with two swings, a gently-sloping metal slide (which would likely become hot enough to be painful to the touch in bright sunlight), and a wooden set of mankey bars near the rocky staircase leading towards Greenfield.

Other: Only baby/basic pokémon may be used! this is for Adriane sorry it took so long!

ETA: Also look I have screenshots to show off the arena look one two three four five six seven eight!!!!

... and what if I say no? Then what!

(Taking, of course.)

I would be oddly enthused to ref a 3v3 triples metronome battle set in a city, preferably without too many battle-influencing arena quirks. Just saying.

This is still open. Might be wise to choose a Pokémon world town without a gym leader, though.

... places with smaller populations are okay, too, if there are interesting things to destroy.

Arena: Celestic Town

Celestic Town is a rather tiny place, but it's legend is well-known. There are some who say it's the town where Sinnoh came to be created, and the crater-like pit in the middle of town, centered by a shrine which was there before any human can remember, certainly doesn't hurt the legend. There's also a tiny cave, with strange carvings on the wall, but they don't seem to be of any interest to... anyone.

The battle takes place morning-time during the spring; lush grass and lovely bright ponds are spread about Celestic, enough for any pokemon to do whatever they might want.

On the fifteenth of this month, Metallica will be thirty. And there's one thing that this must mean.

1 & 1 vs. 1 & 1, tag battle
Style: Set
DQ: 7 days
Damage Cap: 40%
Banned Moves: Any moves that will cause instant fainting, direct healing.
Arena: Metallica Gig II
They're playing again. And we're fighting instead of listening. What the hell is wrong with us? Oh well, we still get cool effects from the songs.

A random song will be chosen and played at the beggining of the match. Each song has a set duration, and after that goes up, another randomized song plays. No song will be played twice. If all songs are played before the battle ends, songs from the first gig that weren't played (All Nightmare Long, Cyanide, Damage Inc., Enter Sandman, Fight Fire With Fire, For Whom The Bell Tolls, Nothing Else Matters, and No Leaf Clover) will be rotated.

- Battery (5 actions): Moves tht prevent attacks from landing, such as Protect and Substitute, will fail. If a Pokémon uses a damage-dealing move, they must use another in a row, unless they already have.
- Creeping Death (6 actions): Water-type moves will fail while this song is playing. All Pokémon will suffer 2% Fire-type damage each action. During the first action, the first Pokémon to be sent out takes 10% Dark-type damage; during the second action, the second sendout suffers 8% Dark-type damage; during the third, the third one takes 6% Dark-type damage; lastly, during the fourth action, the fourth sendout receives 4% Dark-type damage.
- Dyers Eve (5 actions): All Pokémon on the field will disobey all commands, using random attacks that they can learn instead.
- Frantic (5 actions): There's a 25% chance that a Pokémon will fail to carry out commands due to profound introspective reflection. When the song ends, all battlers get to choose what their active Pokémon's Hidden Power type will be for the match, even if a type has already been rolled previously.
- My Apocalypse (5 actions): Commands given during the song will be heard during randomized actions (and not in their proper order).
- Seek and Destroy (5 actions): All Pokémon gain 2+ Accuracy and 2+ Critical Hit ratio.
- Welcome Home (Sanitarium) (6 actions): All Pokémon become severely and incurably confused until the song ends.
- Whiplash (4 actions): All Pokémon will enjoy the frickin' show for a while, not carrying out any moves. By the end of the song, each of them will be granted a 2+ in Attack and a 2+ in Special Attack (1+ each if they weren't in battle for the whole song).

As with the first time around, any amount of damage caused to a band member of Metallica will be repaid in organs torn off savagely from the trainer responsible.
Other: Whether the teams are randomized or preset will be left for this challenge's accepters to determine. If the other battlers would like it, this could also be made a 2 & 2 vs. 2 & 2.

^Is it okay if I take it? I know I have filled up my slots, but both my currently active battles are nearly done (1 round or maybe two max).

EDIT: It's not :(

6 vs 6 single battle. (two trainers with 6 pokemon)
DQ; 3 days
Style; set
Damage Cap; 40%
Banned moves; weather moves, charging moves, OH KO moves.
Arena; Simple Butte

A scenic little butte, home to almost no Pokemon. A perfect place for a Pokemon battle.

A butte is basicly a piece of land that is narrow and goes up from the ground in a steep incline. Picture the top half of a cylinder sprouted from the ground. Since the Butte is so steep, a large fence has been put all around it to keep anyone from falling off.

There is nothing special about this Butte. Everything is simple! However, the Referee has a choice to make it interesting. The ref can do anything to the bare patch of land! This is a choice though, they dont have to.

Rules; Only the ref has a choice to remodel the arena. the trainers cannot.

Arena:The Cafe of Doom
3v3
DQ:4 days
Damage cap: 30%
Banned Moves:OHKO moves

The Cafe of Doom is no longer a cafe- It's just a huge uneven crater, although the recent trauma he revealed diamonds, iron, lapis, and newly-formed obsidian. Construction crews and fortune seekers are rushing to the area. Therefore, there is a 10%chance of one of those guys doing 5% damage to a Pokemon.
There's also a food stand. A Pokemon may use an action getting some food. However, the food they will get will be random.
It serves:
Cupcakes- -5% energy but restores 5% health
Sammich- 10% energy and health, defense and attack +1
Gummy Bears- +1 to every stat
Salad- Remove all status effects
Lava- -10% health,burned.
Garbage- -2 every stat,poisoned.
~awesome sauce~ -The Pokemon will go to their final stage of evolution. If the Pokemon can't evolve, then the Pokemon is Paralyzed,Burned,Poisoned but will get +1 in Speed.
