Action Replay DS help...

Dunno if this is the good place to put this thread, but...ehh. >>

Okay, so I had and Action Replay DS before, and it had a slot to put the DS game in. I got one for my friend the other day, but there's no slot for the game. My mom took it to the store today and the guy said we were doing it wrong...or something. There's no slot, and I have no idea how to use it... Anyone know anything? Or is it defective or something? :(

I don't see how an Action Replay can even work if there's no slot in the top to put the DS game in... I don't think it could save cheat data to the DS for the system itself to inject it into the game or something, could it? o.O The whole point of the slot in the top is so the Action Replay can do its magic to the game, when and only when it's inserted.
I doubt it's some relic of an AR either, because back when they were Gameshark (is that right?) mine had a slot for the Gameboy Color games.

How were you "doing it wrong"? Did the employee at the store even explain how it worked, or just shrug you off so they wouldn't have to replace it or return your money?

My friend asked me on this before. You have to start up the action replay, and then remove the device, put the game in, activate the cheats and then start up the game.

I don't have the instructions with me~ Otherwise I wouldn't have asked XD

Ahh, I see! Thanks a lot :D

I've seen two different types of Action Replay DS.

One was smaller: you used the small port at the top to upload cheats from the computer. Start the DS up with the AR in the game port, wait for it to start up, then remove it and insert the DS game. Select the cheats you want to use, then hit [Start].

The larger one works similar, but you have to start the DS with the AR in the game port, remove it and insert the DS game, select the cheats, hit [Start] - Then remove the the DS game, put the AR back in, wait for it to save, then remove the AR and put the Game in again. (It starts Automatically when you insert the game the second time).

I definately prefer the first one > the second.

If you're lacking instructions, then chances are you might be lacking the USB cord. You need that USB cable to update the AR and put in new cheats. If you also didn't get the Game Cube-sized disc then you might have to download "Code Manager" online somewhere and install it.

Anyway, good luck~

This is what I got~

He dropped the disc and cord off at my house, so it's all good. I actually uninstalled Code Manager last week, so I'm just gonna wait till I can do it at his house cos I don't really want it on my computer XP

Yeah I have this one now as well, I had the smaller one first.
Why don't you like Code Manager? I love it (Probably because I use it frequently, and if the AR kicks the bucket and erases the cheatlists you can just upload them back on to the AR).
