Almost every Faerie Tale has a forest... An enchanted forest. The battle will take place in a clearing, surrounded by huge trees that are impossible to bypass. There's a small pond in the clearing's centre, providing a spot for water-bound Pokemon. The trees seem almost impervious to fire, and will not burn. Every three rounds, a pair of golden mightyena will appear from the trees, attack the battlers with one random attack, and flee.

1 vs. 1, 1 Pokemon Each
Style: Set
DQ: 2 Weeks (Yes, I am covering my ass for the trip to BC :D)
Damage Cap: 30%
Banned Move: OHKO's
Arena: Oasis

An oasis, surrounded by palm trees, in the middle of the desert. The sun constantly beats down, making the arena succumb to a permanent Sunny Day, unless another weather effect overrides it. However, after the weather effect fades, the sunlight will come back. Sand-Based attacks (Sand Attack, Sand Storm, Sand Tomb) get the following respectively:

Sand Attack: Lowers accuracy by two stages instead of one, due to the plentiful, er, sand
Sand Storm: Lasts an extra round
Sand Tomb: Does an extra 2% damage after calculations

All mud-based attacks (Mud Shot, Mud Slap, Mud Bomb) do 2% less damage after calculations, as the sand does not hold water well. Also, Earthquake's damage is cut in half, rounded up, after damage calculations, as the sand does not conduct the kinetic energy very well. The oasis in the middle of the arena starts at 20 feet wide by 10 feet deep. The arena itself encompasses 100 feet square. Every round, the oasis shrinks 5 feet by 2.5 feet. Three rounds after the Oasis disappears, the palm trees wither away and all grass types in the arena begin to lose 5% health each round. One last note: Fish Pokemon such as Goldeen and Magikarp faint immediately after the Oasis disappears. In short, don't use Grass types or Pokemon based on Fish unless you want a challenge.

Um, how 'bout this?

Battle Format:1vs.1, one out at a time.
DQ Time: Five days.
Damage Cap: 20%
Banned and Restricted Moves: No OHKO's.

Arena: Easter Island

A circle of sand, surrounded by Moai statues in the shape of Nosepass. The statues send out a mystical force, stopping Pokemon from leaving. Attacks can get through, and there is ocean water to fuel attacks like surf. Earthquake does 3% less damage, due to the sand, and, for the same reason, Dig's holes fill up automatically. There is a pool of water in the middle for water Pokemon to swim in.

Digital Field is a normal grassy field. Or at least, that's what it seems like at first. The sky is dark and clouds are gray, and a wind always blows. The ground is hard, increasing the power of all Ground-type moves is boosted by 3% after all other factors have been calculated. This excludes Dig. Water-types have no water except the occasional puddle that forms from the slowly-falling raindrops, so Water-type moves' power is lowered by 2% after all other factors have been calcuated. Flying-type Pokemon's moves' power is boosted by the ever-blowing wind, so their damage is raised by 2% after all other factors have been calculated.

3vs3 single
Style: Standard
DQ: Standard week
Damage Cap: 30%
Banned Moves: OHKO's, fire moves, only 4 chills per Pokémon
Arena: Books

This battle is fought on various stacks of books, some larger and taller than others. Fire moves are banned due to the fact that if used, they would burn away the arena. The pages can be eaten for +2 energy, but eating the cover or the spine (5% chance) will result in minor poisoning. Water moves and rain make the books soggy and hard to walk on, slowing down Pokémon by 3%.

Other: Baby and basic Pokémon only

Default Re: The Challenge Board

2 vs. 2
One out at a time
Damage caps: 40%
DQ: One week (7 days)
Switching: None (will be considered a KO)
Arena: Sky Palace
Description: It is named as such because it happens to be the tallest man-made structure (that is connected to the Earth). The Sky Palace is long abandoned, and so only three of the fifteen floors are available to battle in. The spiral staicase running from the fifth to the fourth floor is destroyed. It is also rumoured that many dangerous Pokemon inhabit the lower floors (so try not to go down there).
The top floor is the main arena - a garden. This was the previous owner's pride and joy. Grass and flowers litter the platform completely, apart from one line of marble that runs around and through the arena, forming the shape of a Pokeball. As such with a garden, there are many berries that have fallen and re-grown. This are indeed edible, although it may be difficult to tell the types of berries from sight alone.
The sixth floor is home to many weaker, basic and stage one Pokemon. Although they are few and far between, there is always a chance of one rushing out to defend its territory. In which case, both Pokemon will have another opponent. The sixth floor also has a circular shape, although this is made of solid stone. It is said that this level used to be a sanctuary for Pokemon. It is roughly thirty metres in height, and thirty in diameter. There is an artificial lake (AKA a sminning pool) for water-type Pokemon, and what appear to be perches higher up the arena where only flying-type Pokemon can reach. There are large, jagged rocks littering the field (around the height of a Tyranitar) at carefully measured intervals. There are eight of these in all. The staircase to the fifth floor resides next to the swimming pool, spiralling down to the final usable floor.
The fifth floor is home to many strong, rogue Pokemon. They are all stage two, and will attack when provoked. The fifth floor is very dark, only a single block of light able to flitter through the staircase. Although there is some visibility, the competitors will still be susceptible to a sneak attack by a Dusknoir should a rogue happen to drop by. The room this time is rectangular, with the dimensions 40 x 30 metes. There are no obstructions in this room, apart from the odd pieces of broken firniture. The never-used fireplace does happen to hold some rotting logs, and so a small amount of light may be created at best.
Restrictions: 3 chills, and no direct healing moves
Special Conditions:
- Ground-wrecking moves (such as Earthquake) will have the effect of breaking apart the ground and causing both Pokemon (and their trainers) to fall to the floor below. However, the foundations are too strong for this on the fifth floor, and so these moves will have no effect on this floor (if used on the seventh floor, the berries will also fall and be scattered).
Seventh floor
- If the competitors should pick up a berry, it has a 25% chance of being either a Sitrus berry (will heal the Pokemon by 5%), a Lum berry (which will heal a status problem), a Salac berry (raises base speed one stage) or a Bluk berry (will inflict a random status on the Pokemon and drain 5% energy). Picking up a berry takes one action, and berries can also be collected and saved for later (unless the Pokemon with them is KO'd). Berries can very rarely be identified (30% of the time), and so eating them may be a big risk.
- Thunder has a greater effect (x1.5).
- Water-based moves cannot be used as there are no water sources.
Sixth floor
- Weather-altering moves are banned.
- 15% chance of a random basic or stage one Pokemon (ref's choice) appearing and attacking either trainer's Pokemon (ref's decision as to which Pokemon).
Fifth floor
- Accuracy of moves are reduced to 50%, unless a fire is lit, in which case the accuracy shall rise to 75%.
- 20% chance of a random stage two Pokemon appearing and attacking either trainer's Pokemon.
Fourth floor and below
- Will result in an instant KO due to the staircase collapsing.

This one's for surskitty~!

3 vs 3 single
DQ: Two weeks (darn you, unstable internet situation)
Damage Cap: 30%
Banned Moves: OHKO's, chills limited to 5/pokémon, 50% recovery moves, weather moves (to a point, see description)
Arena: Kokuyo Healthy Land

The battle opens on the top floor of a degraded entertainment resort, ruined by a mudslide and left to nature for approximately ten years. The third floor was a playstage in its past life, with all chairs and obstructions removed. However, because of its rickety, moldy floor, any moves that would sufficiently damage the floor (Earthquake, heavy enough rock moves, floor-damaging fire moves), or Pokémon heavier than four hundred pounds (180 kg) that aren't part Flying or have Levitate will break the floor, causing both Pokémon to plunge to the ground, dealing anything not part Flying or Levitate-having 10% damage. If such situation occurs, the battle will move outside to your standard clearing-in-a-forest, and weather moves will be permitted.

Format: 2v2 Single Battle
DQ Time: 7 days
Damage Cap: None
Banned / Restrictions: OHKOs. Direct healing moves restricted to 3 per Pokémon (does not include Chilling).

Arena: Sky Canopy

The Sky Canopy is a circular platform big enough to house even the largest of Pokémon; it is made of moss-covered stone. The platform is balancing on a tall pillar, which stands in the center of an even larger lake. The lake is off-limits for the battle, however - all fighting will take place on the platform. The Canopy is unnaturally sturdy considering its old and withered state, and can endure even an Earthquake attack without breaking apart.

The view from the Canopy is breathtaking; beyond the lake just below the platform, one can behold lush forests, endless plains, deserts and mountains and ancient buildings - the Sky Canopy happens to be situated very high up in the air, hence the name. A fall from the platform will guarantee a knock-out, even though you would land in water.

Rumor has it that the Sky Canopy once housed a certain colossus...
