Arylett Dawnsborough

Your battle description is, for the most part, decent. The first action was rather strange, though, with Sparky firing off a thunderbolt, then Hetagon starting to "very slowly" convert while the attack was in midair, but managing to finish before the electric attack actually struck. Thunderbolts hardly travel slowly, making this sequence improbable.

If Hetagon is still converted to the ground-type, it should be noted in the final status report.

Your health scores are pretty good, with the exception of fire punch, which probably should be doing only 2-3% damage in the rain from a baby non-fire-type. However, your energy--or more specifically, Sparky's energy--makes no sense. Thunderbolt is the most powerful attack he uses, but it's nevertheless the one that costs the least energy. Granted, it is a STAB move, but I should think that would only put it on a level with one of the elemental punches, not below it. Fire punch also cost significantly more than ice punch, which I'm guessing was due to the rain. While this makes some sense, Sparky's energy runs high overall and, when you consider that the 140-bp facade took less energy to execute than fire punch, it doesn't make much sense.

This application is very close. About all that's holding you back is illogical energy scores, primarily for Sparky. The first action's progression didn't make much sense either, but these are relatively minor mistakes. Not Approved for now, but you're well on your way.

Seritinajii

Your description isn't too bad. At times, mistakes make things entirely confused (as in "
Finally, Sparky, even angrier than ever at Sparky's protective nature of his moves, prepares a Fire Punch as he steps back from Hetagon."), but for the most part you do describe well enough when the grammar all goes your way. A bit more care in rereading your reffings before posting them would probably help fix this problem. Your description of facade, though, was very vague.

Has the rain ended at the end of this round or not? Also, while I can kind of understand why rain might lower the energy cost for an attack like ice punch, I'm totally at a loss as to why you did the same for thunderbolt. Also, if Hetagon is still ground-type at the end of the round, it should be noted in the status report.

Hetagon appears to have taken 5% damage from the fire punch, but that's the amount I would have expected to see it take without the rain cutting the attack's power. At the same time, facade only did 9% damage, which is a bit less than it ought to be if you were reffing it at 140 base power--or more than it should be if you were reffing it at 70. I also have no idea what happened to Sparky's energy. It increased between actions two and three, if I'm reading your notes correctly.

Your health and energy are what are causing you the most problems at this point; your battle description is overall okay enough to probably get you approved. It was a lot of small things that led to your rejection on this mock, so if you tighten things up a bit, you should be good. Not Approved

In the future, anyone who submits a mock reffing for a round that has already been graded will be ignored.

Arena: The Tower. Deep in the heart of Verona City stands a monument that was started more than a decade ago but has yet to be finished. This monument, a symbol of something already forgotten, rises high above the twinkling lights of the sprawling city and threatens to reach the heavens and, ultimately, become a defiance towards God. As it stands, only forty-seven floors are completed, and on top of the forty-seventh is a slab of cement with iron bars jutting upwards into a maze of metal overhead. Two metal ladders – one on the east side of the building and one on the west – provide access to the above iron beams. The weather is cold, dark (considering the fact that it's night), and a bit windy, so it's not recommended to go too far up (as falling off a beam only a foot wide would sort of hurt). Thus, the battle begins on the cement slab but can go further upwards to the floors above the battlers.
Special conditions:
- Basic-level Pokémon only.
- Healing moves are restricted to three per Pokémon. Chills are restricted to five.
- All moves that would have to make use of rocks and the ground in general are banned for obvious reasons. So are Surf and Dive.
- Weather-altering moves are banned.
- While the battling arena may not be entirely too windy, the use of Fly or Sky Attack may result in putting the Pokémon within range of a current of air above the beams. This current may cause the Pokémon to, well, get blown away. This is considered an instant KO unless the Pokémon can get back within three actions.
- Falling off the building results in an instant KO, whereas falling off the topmost beams (ten stories up) will result in 20% damage, with 2% less damage from falling off each subsequent lower level. (For example, falling off beams on the ninth story up will result in 18% damage, eighth story up results in 16% damage, et cetera.)

Round 1

Here I stand amongst 2 tense trainers ready to go. We are here on an unfinished tower in Verona City under the dark night sky on a slab of cement with metal bars to accompany us. We aren't exactly on the last floor completed but we can elevate ourselves if we like I suppose. It's quite a drop so let's not try anything reckless here right? With wind currents like this things are bound to get dangerous but besides all of this creepiness, without further ado-let the battle-[raises flags]-begin!

The first round of the match starts with Mai's first choice of 3 Pokemon being sent out. With a swift flick of the wrist, out comes her female Kecleon known as Karma. The green lizard tosses his head about observing his surroundings while Johto101 sent out his Pokemon. A Mudkip emerges from his Pokeball with a funny vibe of happiness. The first move made was an attempt at a combination of moves by Johto101's Mudkip. The Mudkip begins with a Mud-Slap and tries to use Surf as well but without the aid of his/her surroundings, failed to perform Surf and Mud-Slap due to no water supply or dirt of any kind. Taking advantage of the situation, Mai has Karma produce about 3 clones having a total of 4 Kecleon surround and stare the confused Mudkip down while the wind blew against them all with a sharp thrust.

Next, Karma advanced on the helpless Mudkip that had no moves he/she could possibly perform and spat up a bubbling purple substance that melted into his/her skin. The 3 clones poofed after serving their purpose. The Mudkip wailed and pawed desperately at his face to try and remove it but obviously failed. The rushing currents of wind continued on.

To end the round, Mudkip had no move to execute with the same reasons as before and stands there awaitting another hit from his/her opponent. Karma grins hastily and swung about her arms. Soon, a rush of electricity was thrusted from her body and at the helpless Mudkip. Mudkip however, did nothing but stand there while the electrical surges struck him/her. The bright yellow streaks tossed the mud fish onto his/her side from the force leaving Karma in a very confident state. Mudkip then let out another shriek feeling the burn of Toxic. With the wind shaking the metal bars about and the moon still high over head, that concludes round 1.

Preround
Two trainers stood at the top floor of the forgotten monument of Verona City, seemingly exhausted. It was a long climb up those stairs to get to that building and the two were understandably not looking too great. Mai and Johto101 faced each other, ready to pick out their Pokemon. The referee was just about to announce the battle's beginning. It was a silent, but tense moment. "Okay, Mai and Johto101, choose your Pokemon..." She shouted through her microphone, looking equally exhausted. Mai released Karma, her Kecleon, who surveyed the surroundings with interest. Meanwhile, Johto released his Mudkip, who skittered around the area in clear excitement. They both gave their orders... "Now that that's settled, let the battle begin! Round One, start!" And she waved a crimson flag, the battle was on.

Round One
Mudkip continued to dance around the arena, clearly in titillation. Hearing its trainers commands, Mudkip attempted to kick up some dirt in Karma's face. And it scratched the smooth cool surface of the cement... and scratched... and scratched. Hey, wait a minute! What was going on? Nothing was happening! He couldn't get any mud out of ground... Karma smirked, ah, silly Mudkip, there was no way it could try to get mud out of cement. She immediately used Mudkip's confusion to her advantage and dashed circles around it, leaving behind her a trail of three near exact Kecleon replicas. It swiveled its head around, trying to find the original, but to no avail, they all looked too similar...

[Mudkip: -0H, -0E, has no idea what is going on.] [Karma: -0H, -3E, heh heh, this is getting fun.]

It continued to stare at the clones, completely baffled... There were so many of them. Which one was the real one? Mudkip thought for a moment, then began to focus. It tried to gather up a body of water with which to use the Surf attack... and tried. And still, continued trying. Nothing was happening though, nothing again! No water gathered and Mudkip was left standing there in even more confusion like an idiot surrounded by all of those clones. Things didn't look to good... Karma and all of her clones watched it for a moment, mildly amused. Then she began to gather a noxious acidic saliva within her mouth. Finally, when her mouth was full of this septic substance, she and all three clones spat forth a disgusting purple mixture of slime at Mudkip's eyes. It was unable to avoid these multiple assaults, not knowing where the real attack came from, and got a face full of Toxic. The nasty poisonous slime gurgled and then slowly began to melt into Mudkip's face. Karma's clones dissipated, but the damage was done.

[Mudkip: -0H, -0E, severely poisoned, 0% damage, starting to seep in. Face is starting to sting a bit.] [Karma: -0H, -5E, quite pleased]

The thick purple slime sat thickly on Mudkip's face, beginning to sting even more gradually as it melted more and more into its skin. It couldn't see, the goop completely obscured its vision. But what was the point of even trying the next command? It wasn't as if Mud-Slap had worked before... So Mudkip just sat there, immobilized by the disgusting septic substance in its eyes. The Kecleon continued to grin a most victorious grin, she was feeling immensely confident. Now it was time to show that Mudkip who was boss! Her green scales began to spark... spark with a yellow-ish energy. She shut her eyes and let off an intense burst of electricity towards her opponent. The Thunderbolt streaked quickly through the air, like lightning, and struck Mudkip before it had a chance to respond. It was electrocuted intensely, feeling the horrible pain and weakness to electricity exposed. When the jolt was finally over, the Toxic seemed to have completely melted away into Mudkip's skin. It stung immensely, feeling terrible. Mudkip cringed. But at least it could see again... However, that wasn't the end of Mudkip's troubles.. Its body felt sort of limp and numb after the shock, as it attempted to stand back up, its muscles seized up.

[Mudkip: -14H, -0E, severely poisoned, 1% damage per round, starting to take effect, moderately paralyzed, miserable] [Karma: -0H, -5E, completely and totally healthy, grinning happily]

Postround
A small breeze blew over the two competitors and they stood there, still glaring at each other. Mudkip glaring at Karma unhappily and Karma mocking it with a rather stupid grin. The referee got out her microphone once more and spoke into it, looking from Pokemon to Pokemon, also grinning stupidly. "Whoo, that was pretty intense, wasn't it? Ouch, paralysis and poison? That's got to hurt! Mudkip isn't looking too happy, that's for sure! And Karma, ooh, she looks like she's having the time of her life! Well, will Mudkip be able to make a come back? Let's see..."

Referee's Notes:
- Due to Mudkip's gender being unspecified, I have refered to it as "it".

- Toxic had blinded Mudkip on the third action, rendering it unable to complete its attack.

- None of Mudkip's attacks could work in the arena, due to the challenge's specifications of neither ground-based attacks nor Surf being able to be used. Due to this, it used no energy.

- Toxic has begun to take effect, which means an additional 1% was deducted this round from Mudkip's health in addition to the Thunderbolt.

- Due to their speeds being equal, I simply made Mudkip go first since its trainer was the first to issue commands.

- Mai attacks next round.

Round 1

Here we are atop The Tower. It is the tallest structure in Verona City, lying deep within the city's heart. The Pokemon are going to be fighting on top of a cement slab that is raised 47 stories from the ground. Above them is a metal maze, that stretches on higher than the eye can see. There are two ladders to the east and west of the battleground that can be used to access higher elevations. Mai's Kecleon and Johto101's Mudkip are eager to fight.

Mudkip starts off by performing Mud-Slap and Surf together. It first musters a small pool of water, then slaps the ground towards it, and jumps up excpecting to ride a wave. However, this move combo fails. Across this barren slab of cement, there is no dirt and especially no water. Seeing that its attack had not gone quite as planned, Mudkip was very disappointed. Karma, taking advantage of her opponent's disappointment, quickly created many clones. It started by running around Mudkip in circles, picking up speed by the second. There was now a circle of Kecleon surrounding Mudkip. Mudkip was confused, and had no idea which one was the real Karma. The clones were spread out pretty far, and the circle was very wide.

Mudkip quickly decideds which of the green figures to take aim at, and throws a Mud-Slap right in its direction. At least, it tries to. Just like last time, there is no dirt to slap around. Now Mudkip saw a swarm of Kecleon leaning back and spewing up a concoction in their mouths. Since it has no idea which Karma is the real Karma, it just braces itself for the attack. All at once, each Kecleon spits out a disgusting, purple glop of poison right towards Mudkip. It just so happened to be facing the real Karma, and the gunk got all through its eyes. Every other Kecleon's poison, however, was not real, so Karma's opponent knows which of the many Kecleon is the the real Kecleon.

Mudkip, blinded and poisoned, has no idea what direction it is facing, or walking. After wandering around a bit, it realized that it was in danger of falling to a 47-story death. Mudkip could not see at all. Karma began to muster up a bolt of electricity. She knew that she had time, so after the electricity had charged up, Karma took careful aim. She was aiming for its stomach; and that's exactly where she hit. A streak of yellow streamed through the air, and Mudkip, having poison in its eyes, didn't even know what was coming. All of a sudden, it felt extreme pain on its abdomen, and it fell onto the ground. Karma stood watching it, satisfied at the pain it had inflicted. Mudkip laid on its back, tired, poisoned, and in a world of pain.

Doesn't work that way anymore. Only completed battles count, and the number you need to redeem is two times the rarity of the pokémon in question. So, fourteen battles completed for the free mudkip.

There are two latters that reach the maze of iron beams above. The Two trainers stand across from eachother, eagerly awaiting the start of the battle. The reff looks at the two and raised a bright red flag "Begin!" The reff called out. Johto101 and Mai took a pokeball off of thier belt and threw it into the air. As the pokeballs were thrown into the air they opened, releasing a red light that started to take the shape of two pokemon. As the red light fadded a Mudkip and the Kecleon known as Karma came into view.

The Mudkip started to kick the cement slab, In hope of using a mudslap on Karma, but instead did nothing but leave a few scratch marks on the cement. The Mudkip jumped up in the air hoping for a large wave to come under its feat but instead fell on its front. Karma began to chuckle a bit at the failed attempt to attack as he used double team. Three clones seemed to appear out of nowhere and started to circle around the Mudkip. The Mudkip began to get confused and started to jerk his head in every direction watching the clones circling around it.

Karma used toxic as a purple, bubbling, vile smelling liquid began to show inside of her mouth. The Mudkip saw the clones with the toxic in their mouth and braced itself for the attack since the Mudkip surely couldn't dodge the toxic attack. All of the clones disapeared at once as Karma stood in front of the Mudkip and spit the purple, bubbling, vile smelling liquid right in its eye the Mudkip fell down, half blind. The Mudkip squealed in pain as the poisin began to take effect on it.

The Mudkip began to walk aimlessly, a few times almost falling off the tower. Karma knew that the Mudkip wouldn't know what she was about to do so Karma stepped up to The Mudkip and began to spin her hand around in circles. All of a sudden a flash of bright yellow light hit the Mudkip. The Mudkip then fell to the ground as it felt the rush of electricity run through it. Karma stood next to the Mudkip, grinning. The Mudkip let out another squeal because of the poisin status it has

Kindling Queen

The battle description shows a little improvement over last time, but you're still resorting to things like double team where Karma simply "produces" clones, without any real clue-in to the process. Thunderbolt was probably the best description you had, and bringing the others up to that standard would probably be enough to make this section approvable. You're shifting tenses, too, but other than that the grammar is improved, for which I'm thankful.

Clones don't disappear when their creator uses an attack under most circumstances.

Your health and energy is pretty good. I don't use the double damage for SE attacks rule anymore, but if you wish to do so you may, provided you're consistent. However, I think that the energy usage for Karma was a bit light. Together toxic and thunderbolt was only 7%; 4% for thunderbolt from kecleon is okay, but I'd tend to take at least as much for toxic as well, given that it's one of the most powerful (and abused!) attacks in ASB. There's obviously only a slight difference, but unless it was a poison-type using the toxic, I probably wouldn't have it costed as low as 3% energy.

Description is once again your downfall. It's a little better this match, but still not great. You're close on approval at this point--your numbers are very solid--but just a little more work on your description is necessary. Perhaps reading other referee's posts to see how they describe things might give you an idea of what I'm looking for here. Not Approved

Arylett Dawnsborough

Your battle description is fine save for a couple of game mechanics things: clones usually don't dissipate when the user of double team makes an attack against the opponent, and you don't appear to have reffed mud-slap and surf as a combo, but rather as separate actions.

Your health and energy is fine. Although the two above issues do concern me somewhat, this is overall pretty good. Approved

KMew

A little more specificity in your description would be nice. For example, how many clones did Karma's double team manage, exactly? This factors into energy cost and lets a battler know roughly what chance they have of hitting with a given attack, so it's rather impotant. Also, clones usually don't fade after performing an attack. Also, I couldn't tell for sure whether the clones faded or not; if not, they should be included in your final status report, and if so, then it should be made more clear through battle description. Also, it was a little weird that you had Mudkip call up a little water in the second sentence of paragraph two, then explicitly state that there was "especially no water" there in paragraph four. Sure, there wasn't enough for a surf attack, but Mudkip was apparently able to create some anyway.

It would be nice if you indicated how much toxic would increase for the next round.

How in heck did Mudkip lose as much energy as it did? I personally take a small amount of energy off pokémon even if they fail moves for things like breathing, walking around, and making the attempt, but it looks like you took off more than full energy for some reason. Although a combo does use more energy than normal and surf is a pretty powerful attack, mud-slap is pitiful. Karma's using three moderately draining attacks (and incidentally, her energy usage is slightly high but still okay), but somehow manages to use less. Mudkip's health is a little higher than I would expect, but in the range of all right.

This reffing is pretty on the fence. There are several relatively minor things that drag it down, but it's an okay attempt on the whole. I think without the energy thing on mudkip you'd be fine. As is, that's my most major gripe, but it would be nice for you to polish your descriptions a bit, too. Not Approved

Yanmega

I'm afraid your description needs a lot of work. It abounds with spelling, grammatical, and tense usage errors, and in addition just isn't very descriptive. A good example of this problem is your interpretation of double team--Karma just "uses double team" and clones appear suddenly and as if from no where. The point of description is to give an idea of how the pokémon are interacting with one another and their environment and how they use their attacks so that battlers can form strategies. For example, if the user of double team has to move around a lot to produce clones, that suggests that I could try to counter it by preventing the user from moving. With your description, I've really got no idea what to do.

Using an attack while double teamed typically doesn't cause the clones to vanish. You need to mention how much poison damage Mudkip is taking in the end stats.

Your energy scores look okay, but Mudkip's health doesn't make a whole lot of sense. First, it's presumably taken at least 1% damage from the toxic. Beyond that, it got struck by a super-effective thunderbolt. Sure, Karma doesn't have STAB, but thunderbolt's already base 95, so it should be doing roughly 14-15% damage--more than mudkip lost, even with poison factored in.

Your description is really what needs the most work, and I think you'll catch onto the numbers thing quickly enough. You really need to focus on how an attack is executed in your description as much as possible. A little proofreading wouldn't hurt, either. Not Approved

Last week's lesson? Pay attention to weather conditions. This week's lesson? Clones don't vanish when their possessor attacks.

As the battle rages on, Elekid has an obvious advantage. The rain is pouring down, which helps his electric power, not to mention the accuracy of all of his electric attacks, as well. The ditches in the battle stage are beginning to fill up with water; and the ditch containing poison is becoming less harmful with each rain drop that pours into it. Blaze sits on the ground, feeling quite unhappy. The rain is very uncomfortable to him, due to his fire-type nature. His bones are quite stiff due to the paralyzation. His special attack is lowered, which makes it harder for him to inflict damage onto the Elekid. The Pokemon begin fighting.

Begin Round.

Elekid starts off the round by summoning a thundercloud from the sky. He begins by focusing upon the sky, and the clouds begin to form together. With each addition of another cloud, the thundercloud gets bigger. After reaching maximum size, Elekid commands the cloud towards Blaze. The small Chimchar looks up to find a giant black cloud hovering right above his head. Not a moment later, a bolt of lighting streams down from the center of it. Due to the rain, the cloud was bigger and more powerful than it normally would have been. The lightning hits Blaze dead-on, and he felt electricity surging through his entire body. After recovering from the electric blow, decided to take the weather into his own hands. Looking to the sky, it calls forth the sun amongst all of the clouds and rain. Each cloud separates bit by bit, and sunlight starts streaming through the gaps and holes, until every cloud is gone and the sunshine beats down upon the field.

[Elekid; -0% Health –8% Energy | Blaze; - 15% Health – 4% Energy]

Elekid, not really enjoying the loss of the rain, decides to worsen the condition of the annoying little fire chimp. It musters up a small amount of energy, and focuses on electricity and nothing else. After it finishes concentrating, it launches a puny shock of electricity right at its opponent, Blaze. The attack affects Blaze's body, on the inside and out. It finds itself feeling even more stiff and sore than before. Blaze decided not to try anything too complicated, due to its new condition, so it simply sits on the ground and clears its mind of all of the troubles it is feeling.

[Elekid; - 0% Health – 3% Energy | Blaze – 0% Health +2% Energy]

Feeling refreshed and re-energized, the little chimp, acting true to its fire nature, engulfs itself in intense fire. Heating itself up more and more, the chimp begins to feel the fire; but simply keeps on making it hotter. Raising the temperature to a final peak temperature, the Chimchar launches a gigantic wave of fire straight at Elekid. After the attack, Blaze felt tired and drained, and wasn't at all prepared for what Elekid was about to launch at him. Creating an electric barrier, Elekid concentrated energy to form an electric ball, and then he launched it all around him in every direction. The shock hit Blaze full-on, and the chimp pokemon fell over.

[Elekid; -13% Health –5% Energy | Blaze; -6% Health -8% Energy]

End Round

After the end of this round, both Pokemon are feeling rather drained from firing off some powerful attacks. The weather has gone from stormy and rainy from hot and sunny. This change has affected Blaze positively; but Elekid isn't really affected, other than losing a great deal of accuracy of his most powerful attack. The Pokemon wait for commands.

-It is Sunny. [13 more actions]
-The hole with Poison is starting to evaporate due to the sudden change in temperature.

Other Notes
- Thunder did 15% damage; 12% base, + stab gives you 15, -1 point for evolution, then I added a point due to the fact that it was raining. It took 8% energy; 4% for the PP, 3% for base power, and 1% for evolution line.
  • Sunny Day took 4% energy.
  • Chilling gave Blaze back 2% energy (I really didn't know what to do here.)
  • Thunder Wave took 3% energy. [[I had Elekid use Thunder Wave because it said “if he doesn't move anyway,” which he didn't, I guess.]]
  • Overheat did 13% damage; 11% base due to the Special Attack loss from earlier, +stab 2%, -1% for evolution, then +1% due to Sunny Day. It took 8%. I docked a point due to Sunny Day.
  • Shock Wave did 6%; 6% base, plus 1% stab, -1% due to evolution. It took 5% energy.
  • Yeah, I'm pretty sure my calculations are WAY off, but whatever. Also, I didn't know how long Sunny Day lasts... so I just started at 15 actions.

Round X... Begin!

To Elekid's surprise, Chimchar seems to be lifting his hands to the rainy sky. But the two Pokemon are end up ignoring each other in favor of focusing on their own attacks. Elekid strikes first, sending a shockingly(no pun intended) powerful, not-so-appropriately name Thunder attack at Chimchar, who having his eyes turned toward the sky, doesn't see it coming until it hits, and it hit hard. As elekid's horns' glow fades, the Sun comes out after all of Chimchars prayers, much to the little monkey's delight.

After making the place more comfortable for himself settles down for a well deserved rest. Ok, he's not moving, so that means... Thunder, Elekid decides, spinning his arms as his horns sparkle with electricity, blasting it all out at his opponent. Fortunately for the little Chimchar, the sun gets in his eye, and the lightning bolt hits a foot away from the lucky Chimchar.

Chimchar gathers an orb of flame in his mouth, preparing for revenge on that little um... whatever, Elekid on the other hand, takes note of this, and Spins his arms once more, quickly launching a Shock Wave at his foe. The attack hits it's mark, once again sending high voltage coursing painfully through his body. And just after that , Chimchar Let's out a great blast of fire from his mouth, but it too ... misses, It turns out that such great power is rather hard to control.

After doing what their told, a satisfied, yet tired elekid, and an extremely irritated Chimchar who's feeling a little more limber, await their trainers' orders.

"Here we stand at the mid point of the first battle! The rain is pouring heavily and my umbrella is starting to go inide out! At thi rate, the storm is only bound to get worse. The simple field of grass is soaked to the bone...if it had any that is and our 2 battlers are feeling the burn of fatigue. We stand amongsrt an unhappy chimp and a delighted Elekid begging to attack! Now with our trainers ready, let round ____ begin!"

Round ____ starts with Firewater's Elekid revving up his arms to start up a Thunder attack. Sparks of electricity began forming at his revolving arms with a massive voltage with the help of the storm clouds. A gleaming yellow streak cut the sky and hurtled into Elekid's arms only making the voltage that much stronger. Chimchar shivered from the cold rain on his back and let out a sharp yelp once Elekid thrusted the Thunder at him. Being that the attack came from not only Elekid, but storm clouds as well plus the fact Chimchar was soaked, the attack did more damage than expected from Starmyt and Chimchar's perspective. Elekid pounded his soaked chest of black and yellow triumphantly while Chimchar rolled onto his stomach and looked up at the dark sky. Hearing his orders, he held up his hands and brought out the Sun. Slowly, the dark clouds faded to pure white fluffs and the sun shone down upon them, drying the wet coats of fur on the Pokemon's backs.

Elekid growled a little impatiently seeing his next Thunder attack wouldn't be such a success and began revolving his arms in circular motions. The electricity formed once again. Chimchar simply sat down still watching the cleared sky while Elekid held out his fists of bright yellow in the Chimchar's direction. The Thunder came directly at the unmoving Fire chimp and thrusted him onto his back. The sun continued to shine brightly down upon them.

The last action set for Elekid was called out. Elekid was told to execute a Shockwave on Chimchar. Elekid advanced on his target with ease and aimed a quick jolt of electricity at his opponent. The sudden jolt of electricity startled Chimchar but he struggled to his feet to fit one last attack into the battle. Starmyt hollered "Overheat" to Chimchar who eagerly balled his scrawny hands into fists clutching at his chest. The paralysis failed to hold him back yet again and as Elekid watched, he saw Chimchar's body laminate in red. Elekid leaned forward out of curiosity and watched as an explosion of flames came at him and struck him excessively. With the sun shining down upon Chimchar and Elekid, that concludes round ____.

KMew

Your battle description is pretty good, although you have problems staying in the correct tense and switch between causing the pokémon gendered and genderless pronouns. The only thing I thought was particularly odd was the first thunder attack. I mean, if you're gathering a bunch of clouds together, how are you going to end up with a thunderhead that's small enough that it can be floating above Elekid, then actually have to be moved to be above Blaze?

Elekid was supposed to use thunder if his opponent didn't move, not thunder wave. Also, if, as stated in the opening stats, there was only a 5% chance of Blaze failing to move, he wasn't severely paralyzed--in fact, his paralysis was almost gone. Also, chills should definitely return more than 2% health; the idea is to give the pokémon enough energy to use another 2-4 moderately powerful attacks. For this reason, energy recovery of 5% or 10% is most common. Fifteen actions is fine for sunny day; most refs have weather effects last for 3-5 rounds.

On the whole your damage and energy calculations aren't bad. However, I don't like the way that you increased overheat's power under sunny day by the same amount that you increased thunder for rain dance. Electric attacks aren't directly acted upon by rain, although if you want to give a boost for the storm cloud, that's fine. But sunny day specifically increases fire-type power, and by a significant amount. If you're not going to multiply the power by 1.5, you'll at least want to add more than 1% damage--if weather effects have so little return, there's really no reason to use them.

Mmm... once again, tricky. Your battle description is good enough this time around; it's mostly the chill thing and overheat's power-up that worry me, not to mention the misinterpretation of thunder wave (though hopefully the battlers would point that out themselves). I suppose I'll say that you should feel free to ask about stuff that you're unsure on (e.g. how much energy chilling recoups), and that you're Approved.

turbler

Your description is okay, but problems with grammar and random captialization become an increasing problem as the reffing progresses. As a rule, you only put an apostrophe before an "s" if it's in a contraction or showing possession. Let's therefore means "let us," for example.

I'm not sure why you went and edited this post so long after it was put up, but if I recall correctly you forgot about damage caps in the previous version, so make sure you remember that. Also, the word in brackets is the pokémon's nickname, not its ability. Both of these pokémon can have only one ability, so it doesn't need to be stated anywhere. The Elekid's name isn't actually Static, whereas the chimchar's name is Blaze.

For two and a shock wave, Static should definitely have lost more energy. Each thunder individually should have been taking about 8% energy, which leaves... none left over for the shock wave. You also appear to have given back too little energy for Blaze's chill. Overheat shouldn't have cost much more energy than one of Elekid's thunders, and other than that the only attack used was sunny day. Somewhere around 12-13% energy should be all those two would have needed, indicating that you probably only gave 2-3% energy back for the chill.

Clean up your battle description and perhaps investigate your energy usage a little more. Other than that, not bad. Not Approved

Kindling Queen

Your battle description is much improved, and aside from a couple of minor errors, it's good. You might want to look up what "laminate" means, though.

In your final notes, I think you mean "paralysis has faded," right? It's almost always fading as time goes on, really. Blaze's special attack should be reduced by four levels at this point, not two.

In terms of energy and damage, I'm not really liking the way you reffed thunder. 5% is a huge swing in damage, just because rain dance was in play (or clouds, anyway)? That's almost a 1.5x increase, and rain doesn't ordinarily power up thunder. Next, I don't believe that a foe simply being wet would cause it to take more damage from electricity, as water only conducts electricity, not amplifies its effects. I could be wrong on that count, though. In any case, the thunder damage was rather extreme in my opinion. Also, Elekid had an attack bonus, not a special attack bonus, so that shouldn't have been factored in. Also, if Blaze got 5% energy back for the chill, that means he only used 10% energy for both sunny day and overheat, which is a little too low for my tastes.

The most major thing I didn't like here was the thunder. It's fine to modify damage totals a bit to account for battle conditions--and indeed, it's a good idea--but you made the attack a whole 8% damage more effective than it would otherwise have been, which is pretty extreme--the equivalent of combining it with an attack like crunch. I'm not sure that I want to approve you at this point, but this reffing was definitely very close to being approvable. This time, I'm afraid it was the numbers that got you more than anything else. Keep up the description, and you should be good for the next round you try. Not Approved

My Attempt at the Advanced Mock.

Pre-Round Match-up:

ABCDEFG's Team:
3/3 Remaining
Currently Out:
Kecleon
Kecleon
Health: 100%
Energy: 100%
Ability: Color Change
Status: Normal
Notes: Let's Do This!
Commands: Mega Kick ~ Aerial Ace ~ Solarbeam

Mai's Team:
3/3 Remaining
Currently Out:
Quagsire-f
Doro
Health: 100%
Energy: 100%
Ability: Water Absorb
Status: Normal
Notes: Time to fight, already?
Commands: Double Team / Slime Coat ~ Slime Coat / Double Team ~ Double Team / Hyper Beam

Round One:

The trainers step into their highly unsual arena, both hungering for a victory. They send out their pokemon, a Female Quagsire for Mai, and a Male Kecleon for ABCDEFG. Both shout orders, and as they finish, their pokemon inch closer. Suddenly, Kecleon rears his leg back, and thrusts forward, slamming Doro with a huge MEGA KICK. Trying to shake off the hit, and following it's close instructions, Doro uses it's signature manuever, SLIME COAT, as slime begins to seep from it's body.

Again, trying to get the jump on Doro, Kecleon speeds forward with huge velocity, slamming into Doro and connecting with AERIAL ACE. However, it seems the phsyical contact has left some of Doro's slime on Kecleon as it begins to eat away his flesh. Doro, content with her sliming of her oppnent, begins to speed around the immediate area, leaving behind exact duplicates of herself. Her DOUBLE TEAM leaves three clones total, and has Kecleon looking at a small army of Doros.

Kecleon wants to finish with a bang, despite feeling it's scales being burned by the slime, and begins to gather energy. Taking this opportunity to get a jump on Kecleon, Doro and her duplicates let loose with a large blast, and pound Kecleon with HYPER BEAM. Kecleon seems a bit shaken, and fires SOLARBEAM before it can get completely composed. Unfortunately for Doro, it still connects with a SUPER-EFFECTIVE attack, and does some major damage.

Post Round Wrap-up:

ABCDEFG's Team:
3/3 Remaining
Currently Out:
Kecleon
Kecleon
Health: 79%
Energy: 85%
Ability: Color Change
Status: Poisoned (1% Per Round)
Notes: It BURNS!!!
Commands: Mega Kick ~ Aerial Ace ~ Solarbeam

Mai's Team:
3/3 Remaining
Currently Out:
Quagsire-f
Doro
Health: 54%
Energy: 87%
Ability: Water Absorb
Status: Covered in a Slime Coat
Notes: Ow... Not Cool...
Commands: Slime Coat ~ Double Team ~ Hyper Beam

Reffing Notes:
- Kecleon did not change colors, as it's already Normal-Type, and Hyper Beam is a Normal-Type Attack.
- No items flew past the battle area.
- Mai gives Orders first next round.
- No Energy Cost was given for Slime Coat, since the description sounds like it makes more slime than usual, I made it use some energy, but a minimal cost.

Hey, Negrek, I have decided to get back in the reffing game, and have also decided to brush up on my skills with the Advance reffing

One problem though... It says a random object appears every six actions. Does that mean every six actions TOTAL (as in once a round), or every six actions for a Pokemon?

I wouldn't normally ask this, but the wording is kind of weird, as one could say one action every round instead O.o
