Shi-Long Lang's Commands: Protect/Crunch/Spite ~ Protect/Crunch/Spite ~ Protect/Crunch/Spite

Arena: Allebahstian/Babahlese Embassy

For several years, the once united Kingdom of Cohdopia has been split in two. At one side, the Principality of Allebahst, land of the flower; at the other, the Republic of Babahl, land of the butterfly. The Cohdopian Embassy in American (or Japanese if you don't like localisations) soil was also split in two, as the two countries share the building, using its two halves -- after all, the building fortunately happens to have a strict billateral symmetry.

The two sides are separated by a tall wall, connected only through a center part, the Theatrum Neutralis, which, as can be inferred, has a theater. The Theatrum is not considered part of any of the two embassies. The two sides are also connected by the lakes on both gardens, linked by an underground tunnel. The Allebahstian Embassy, to the left, has a rose garden, decorated with historically relevant statues and with spouts around the lake, programmed to refill it if the water level goes lower than it should be. The garden also has a stand and audience seats for speeches. The Babahlese Embassy, to the right, is going through renovations. All the fireplaces in both sides of the building have revolving walls at their bottoms, connecting adjacent rooms. Both embassies also have a Primidux Statue, one-of-a-kind national treasure; both countries claim to own the original and call the other one a fake.

The match begins in the fifth (and highest) floor of the Babahlese Embassy, in Ambassador Palaeno's office. If this part of the arena is wrecked brutally enough by the Pokémon's attacks, the trainers will be dispatched over to Allehbast's Rose Garden, skipping the following events until that part. At Round 3, a fire will start in the Babahlese Embassy. During the fire, all of Sunny Day's effects except the ones that require actual sunlight over just heat will activate, and all attacks will consume an extra 1% energy. At Round 5, the trainers will escape the embassy through the connected lakes, and recommence battling at Allebahst's Rose Garden, spendind the entire round getting there. At Round 8, Ambassador Alba will take the stand to begin a speech, but the spotlights, having been previously tampered with for that effect, display The Yatagarasu's shadow upon the wall, sending the crowd into a massive hysteria, hustling to get out of the embassy. During each action of that round, bumping and trampling will cause the Pokémon to be dealt 1% damage, and all attacks will become 25% less accurate. At the end of Round 8, the battle is moved over to Theatrum Neutralis. The battle will proceed normally until Round 12, wherein people investigating the embassy corner Interpol Agent Shih-na, who will, during a struggle with Interpol Agent Lang, accidentally shoot one of the Pokémon, dealing 7% Steel-type damage. After that round, the battle once again proceeds normally, until Round 15, wherein, for the next 6 rounds, the investigator confront Ambassador Quercus Alba. The sheer amount of HOLD IT! being yelled at the time will irritate the battlers; coupled with the tension in the air, it gives off a 1+ Attack boost. After Alba is caught, the events loop over.

Round Five: Begin

The fire in the embassy, out of control as it is, still has a ways to go before it crosses the wall and the Theatrum Neutralis and encroaches on Allebahst's beautiful Rose Garden. As such, Meowth, Metallica Fanboy and their referee decide that it is probably the best place to pick up where they left off: far enough away from the blazing half of the embassy to remain relatively safe, and not inside another smallish office that is more prone to burning or collapsing or otherwise trapping them within. Plenty of open space to finish up a rowdy, destructive pokémon battle.

The three trainers haul themselves up out of the empty pool near the garden's center, panting slightly after their power walk through the tunnel connecting it to the lake on Babahl's side of the wall. The ref settles down near a stage that has been set up at the far end, taking a moment to admire the garden's namesake roses before scraping the bottom of his shoe against the ground next to them; its sole is covered in the blood he stepped in while hopping over the remains of the trash-thrower from before. The two combatants, however, get straight back to work, ignoring the blood and soot and splinters covering them and reaching for their poké balls as though nothing had happened. Metallica Fanboy summons Colias and tells him to hang on just a little longer while Meowth replaces Quercus with a new pokémon. He gives Shi-Long Lang a hasty "good luck, Shifu" before instructing the poochyena to move opposite the butterfree and begin.

Shifu frowns at his singed and battered opponent, not quite sure how the funny golden bug could've gotten himself so messed up if he's only just being sent out. He must not be a fresh battler, then—he must have done some fighting back there in that burning building, and been subsequently mauled by the fire and by whoever Shifu's predecessor happened to be. His tail twitches with just a hint of pride. Even if the pokémon Meowth had used before him was unable to take the butterfree down, it obviously did a number on him and was generally awesome and dependable all the way down to the wire. His teammates are all cool. They're like family. None of them would ever be horrible lying bastards or anything like that. Perish the thought.

Pride gives way to alertness as Colias gives a weary sigh and forces his tattered wings into motion, fluttering toward the poochyena with a manic glint in his compound eyes. Shifu squares his shoulders and glares right back at his opponent, confident that he is ready for whatever the thing might try to aaagh why is it eating my throat aaaaagh

Colias gnaws at Shifu's throat for all he is worth, desperate to salvage this horrible, horrible situation while he still has some strength left. His mandibles tear out tufts of fur and dig painfully into the skin beneath, and several bites puncture the tender lansat berry tied around the poochyena's neck. Colias backs away warily, swallowing the berry juice that trickled into his mouth without really thinking about it. The tangy, zesty liquid sets the butterfree's already frayed nerves on edge, filling him with a rush of nervous energy and making his flight just that little bit more erratic; his steadily rising sense of panic is not helped when Shifu, done whimpering and muttering about his bitten neck and stolen berry, charges forward with his own mouth wide open. The dark-type leaps at his foe and sinks his fangs into Colias's leg, dragging the fluttering insect down and gnawing vigorously to aggravate the injury. Caustic dark energy is forced into the cracked exoskeleton with each vengeful crunch, and the wound is throbbing mercilessly by the time Shifu relinquishes his hold.

There is little consolation in the knowledge that Colias's hearty nibbling seemed to hurt Shifu even more than Shifu's hurt him. Colias is still feeling absolutely awful, and the sudden surge of adrenaline honestly isn't helping him as much as he would've assumed. He dips down again, trying not to bump his bitten leg against the ground in the process, and makes another bid for Shifu's neck. Shifu is quick to drop his chin and protect the angry red scratches from further harm, but unfortunately for him this leaves his face exposed to Colias's questing mouthparts; he comes away from the second encounter with a badly scraped snout and a stinging, bloodied nose. Colias, for his part, is unable to move his own bitten body part out of the way in time, and when Shifu lunges and lands another crunch the combination of dark energy, crushing jaws and the already mangled leg sends a wave of pain shooting through his body so severe that he almost vomits.

Colias struggles forward a third time, too achy and dizzy and nauseous to fly high enough to keep his injured limb from dragging painfully against the earth. He takes advantage of Shifu's momentary astonishment and makes one final lunge at his opponent, tearing into the now-unprotected neck and chest with the ferocity of one who has nothing left to lose. Shifu's flesh is already more or less perforated by the earlier bug bite, and this newest assault rips the wounds open properly. Shifu, sensing that Colias really means business this time, doesn't wait for the biting to stop and instead attacks the butterfree's wing while it's still within reach. His sharp teeth shred the delicate membrane and scatter tiny golden scales everywhere, and each panicked bite is accompanied by still more acidic energy. His desperate crunching and tearing finally pay off as Colias's biting slows to a halt and stops for good, the butterfree's injuries too much for him to cope with at long last. Shifu lets the torn wing fall and pants heavily, stopping occasionally to paw gingerly at his bloodied throat. He wouldn't have pegged the fancy golden butterfree as the savage type; he looked more like the handing-out-silly-coupons-for-dumb-stuff type. That must just be what happens to a guy after getting worked over by Shifu and his awesome, totally-not-bastard teammates.

The poochyena is too busy fussing over his injured neck to notice a fourth human crawling out of the empty lake, and the ref and Meowth are similarly distracted or distant; Metallica Fanboy catches a glimpse of the figure out of the corner of his eye, but he pays it no mind as he recalls Colias and reaches for a second poké ball. The shadowy figure fiddles with a hidden control on the other side of the lake, then slips away silently as the pipes below burble to life and water begins to flow.

Ref's Notes
-I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date... :( BLUH
-I had a question about the way bug bite is supposed to work, but I went ahead and guessed at the answer so I could finish this; you two were waiting long enough and I wanted to get it written right away. If Negrek's answer isn't what I'd anticipated it being, I'll edit the reffing to reflect that. (Pretty sure all I'll have to do is remove the crit for the last bug bite, since the second wouldn't have criticalled even with the lansat boost and the third only did so with the boost.)
-The first crunch lowered Colias's defense; the second one lowered defense AND was a critical hit. Ironic, seeing as Colias had just eaten Shifu's speshul critberry.
-The third bug bite was a critical hit.
-Colias fainted on the third action.
-Should the Rose Garden already have a crowd/some people in it, waiting for Alba's speech, or should it be empty until Round 8 starts? Just curious for descriptive purposes.
-Am also assuming that the lakes should be filled up again so they match the state the garden was in at the beginning of the speech (assuming I'm remembering the order of events correctly); if they shouldn't, let me know.
-Metallica Fanboy sends out and attacks first next round.

Pray that Lang is ready, Meowth, because shit just got really Badd.

Attack with Frost Breath. If Lang uses Fire Fang, motion to Disable it.

Frost Breath/Disable ~ Frost Breath/Disable ~ Frost Breath/Disable

As for the descriptiveness bits: do as you like with the crowds' arriving, though I think it'd make more sense if some of them arrived earlier and some others just in time for the speech. As for the lakes, well, I'll check for that.

That pun was really Badd. Tyrellble, even.

Anyway, Shifu, start with a Double Team for as many clones as possible, then Super Fang to even up the numbers slightly. Since that brings us straight to the damage cap, finish with a Howl to buff yourself for later.

Double Team ~ Super Fang ~ Howl

Round Six: Begin

The small cluster of people that pokes its collective heads into the Rose Garden is understandably puzzled when they are greeted, not by Ambassador Alba speaking with his aides and preparing a speech, but by a bleeding poochyena and, seconds later, a snorunt with a cloak riddled with holes of some sort. Shifu stares at his new opponent, weighing his desire to add a few more nice holes to that cloak thing against his desire to take it easy after his scrape with the histrionic butterfree. The snorunt, Tyrell Badd, is a great deal more impassive and collected than Shifu or the confused humans milling around in the corner. It's all up to him to get down to business and bring that shifty little fluffball in, and he intends to do it. Simple as that.

Badd isn't the kind of snorunt who likes wasting his time, and so without further ado he opens his mouth and forces a blast of icy air out of his lungs. The frost breath falls far short of a devastating blizzard in sheer volume and intensity of cold and snow, but it hits Shifu full-on in his scratched face all the same. The chill bites into the open cuts and sends the poochyena into a fit of yelping and head-shaking. Shifu turns and runs to the side to avoid further icy abuse, and he doesn't stop even when he's well out of Badd's reach—instead he treats the gathering of early speechgoers to a dizzying dash in a tight circle, his little legs pumping and propelling him as fas as he can possibly go. Badd snorts and mutters something to himself about how "kids... are so overexcitable these days" before casting an impulsive quick glance over his sloped shoulder; when his eyes dart back to the place Shifu had departed from, however, he is greeted by four identical, if slightly winded, poochyena. All four Shifus bare their fangs at him, their confidence bolstered now that they're surrounded by a proper pack.

Far be it for Badd not to give credit where it's due; he hadn't seen that one coming. It's ultimately of little consequence to him, though, and without waiting for the four Shifus to make a move he expels another blast of frigid air in the direction of the one on the far right. His eye twitches slightly when the frost breath simply causes the insubstantial clone to vanish, leaving the other three unscathed and snarling even louder. They lunge at him as a group with their jaws open and glowing with a harsh, orange light, causing several of the puzzled onlookers to jump; they wince again when all three Shifus dig their teeth into Badd's side with a hearty, icy snap, cracking the hole-riddled covering and leaving Badd's flank exposed. Waves of pain shoot through what's left of the cloak and the rest of Badd's body, and he has to grit his overlarge teeth to keep from crying out or showing too much weakness.

The third frost breath is no better than the second, only punching clean through the second Shifu on the left and leaving two more tired but cocky poochyena behind. Badd curses under his breath, blaming the pain still radiating through him for his poor marksmanship—he was sure he knew which of the remaining foes had been the one to really bite through his cloak, and by rights should have nailed him this time. But he didn't, and he's forced to sit back and try to gather himself while the last two dark-types throw back their heads and let an eerie howl to the ancestors echo around the enclosed garden. The twin Shifus finish their primal howling and level their gaze on Badd, who stares coolly back. Not bad, not bad... but he wouldn't be where he is today if he let himself get flustered by a few fancy tricks like that.

As I expected, he's whipping that one out.

Very well. Start with a 20% Substitute. While he's still biting away at that, whip up a Hailstorm. This should probably let you see through the clones with more ease, as the hail should go right through them.

By then, should probably have used Fire Fang twice. This is when you spike with Disable. If for some reason using Disabling by the third action won't make Fire Fang go away, though, spike with Blizzard instead.

Substitute (20%) ~ Hail ~ Disable/Blizzard

Hm... Looks like this fight isn't going to last until the Alba confrontation.

Round Seven: Begin

The two Shifus are growling again, circling around Badd in an effort to intimidate him with their raised hackles and bared fangs and hungry leering.

It isn't working very well.

The snorunt looks every bit as composed as he did when he was first sent out, and he gets back down to business without so much as a flinch to satisfy the prowling poochyena. He exhales another burst of ice and snow, this time angled downward at the grass so that it collects in a growing pile by his feet; when he is satisfied with the slush-pile's size he stops hugging his shattered cloak and digs his hands into the snow, shaping and sculpting it into a cone shape about his height. An extra burst of life energy puts the finishing touches on the substitute and causes it to shudder, awake and ready to defend its creator from anything Shifu might decide to throw at him.

The substitute's defense is put to the test almost immediately—Shifu and clone spring forward, mouths open, fangs alight with fiery energy summoned from within. Badd sidesteps instinctively even though he is not in immediate danger, and the false snorunt sidesteps with him to keep itself between him and his attackers. Unable to correct their trajectory in mid-flight, both poochyena sail wide left of the two snorunt and hit the ground behind their original spot instead. Badd nods coolly, absent-mindedly popping a lansat berry hidden under his cloak into his mouth as he watches the Shifus go sprawling. Not bad entertainment, that.

Filled with a rush of energy from the berry's sharp flavor, Badd jumps into his next action immediately. He turns his wide-eyed gaze skyward and spreads his tiny arms, imploring the clouds overhead to darken and grow heavy with hail. And they do darken, difficult as it is to see with all of the smoke still billowing up from the burning embassy nearby, and balls of ice do begin to tumble down. The slowly growing crowd of spectators scrambles for cover when the first few hailstones ricochet off of their heads and bodies, but Shifu and his clone have no such luck—Shifu cries out as a particularly large stone bounces off of his tender nose, and the clone, even less fortunate, disintegrates when another ice chunk tears through it as though it weren't there. Shifu rounds on Badd and his substitute, furious over the loss of his clone, and lunges a second time. This time his fiery fangs do bite into something cold instead of air, and while his ultimate target was the quick-thinking substitute instead of the real McCoy, the attack does snap and melt away large pieces of the decoy.

The substitute is looking very much the worse for wear: it is lopsided and broken now, and melted ice drips from it and leaves a trail of water in the grass behind it. It is still standing, however, for what it's worth, and Badd feels secure enough to do a little more preparation while he still has it to protect him. He locks eyes with the irate Shifu and, mental connection established with just that brief look, wrenches the memory of the last attack he'd used right out of his mind. Suddenly Shifu finds himself unable to recall exactly how that big dent in the substitute got there, or what exactly it was he'd done a but a few moments ago. Badd, satisfied, nods once and then returns his attention to its substitute, smoothing over the rough and runny patches so it doesn't look such a sight.

Even in its partially-disintegrated state the substitute snorunt is still positioned staunchly between Shifu and Badd, and with his head now buzzing uncomfortably the little hyena figures his best course of action would be to relax. He lies down in the damp grass and closes his eyes, trying hard to remember what he was supposed to be doing and, failing that, puzzle out a new way to finish tearing that pesky doppelganger apart and get at the goods. The constant hailfall makes relaxing a little difficult, but he is able to shut out the icy stinging for at least a little while.
