Also, CharizardHammer: just to make sure, is this your first battle here?

One can search through the entirety of his twenty-eight posts and turn up nothing more than forum games and the one challenge board post, so I would think that answer is yes.

Also he hasn't been seen since the twenty-second. This miiight fizzle out before it begins.

Right, I could go with Sylf (Tino would just be no fun), but the thought of a Charmander vs Charmander battle is just too cute. Go, Calibri!

Okay, Cal. First, we want to make sure we get the jump on him by edging out his speed. Put on your scariest face to really freak him out! Then... hm, it's usually good to inflict a status condition, yeah? But you don't really have much in the way of sleep or paralysis, and burn would just be silly. So while he's still quaking in his invisible boots, why don't you throw out a toxic right on his face! Finally, for a real attack, pull up some of the earth around you and show that lizard what for with a big old rock slide.

If he's ever protecting, or you're somehow otherwise unable to get to him (like with substitute), just use dragon dance. That'll serve our purposes well too.

Arena: Pokemon center battle arena

A Pokemon battle arena behind a pokemon center. Nothing out of ordinary.

Other: Kanto Pokemon only

The doors of a Pokemon Center slid open, and a rather large mechanical dragon squeezed her way out. The doors weren’t built to let giant hulking creatures pass through easily, though, so she had to duck her head and squish her wings against herself. Even so, the sharp edges of her feathers left ugly scratch marks on the doorframe. Two trainers followed her, looking embarrassed, as if they wanted to apologize for the damage their companion had caused, but the dragon simply waved it off, saying that the ASB League would pay for the repairs.

The trainers had just healed their Pokemon, but there was no such thing as enough battling. They simply walked around the Pokemon Center and claimed the clearing behind it as their arena. Any arena farther away would leave them twitching with battle withdrawal. Such was the life of Pokemon trainers.

It took a while for the trainers to decide on their fighters, but at last they both sent out the same species: the orange lizard known as Charmander. CharizardHammer’s Charmander, Blazer, looked at his opponent, then puffed out his chest, trying to appear as big as possible. He’d show him who the better lizard was. Calibri, Clover’s own Charmander, seemed to have similar thoughts: he gazed at Blazer with steady eyes and flexed his claws determinedly.

Blazer crouched, claws fully extended as he prepared to rip into the ground underneath him. Then a furious snarl rent the air and Blazer’s head snapped up, eyes wide with fear – what kind of monster made such a noise? It was, in fact, his opponent, but not his opponent: Calibri’s face was so dreadfully transformed that Blazer wasn’t fully sure that the creature staring at him was a Charmander. Calibri’s eyes, rimmed with an eerie yellow glow, were rolled into his head so only the whites showed. His mouth was stretched in a smile so wide that it seemed the corners would burst off the sides of his face, and when he opened that hideous maw, long, needle-thin fangs were revealed, dripping with a thick red liquid – was that blood? Never had the phrase “grinning from ear to ear” been more sinister. Blazer felt his initial confidence drain away, and despite himself he shrank away, whimpering.

Eager to get away from Calibri, Blazer redoubled his digging efforts, tearing chunks of earth away and tossing them aside at an incredible speed. Soon Blazer disappeared from view; the only hint of his existence was the handfuls of dirt that were tossed out of the mouth of the tunnel from time to time, and the scrtch scrtch of his claws. Eventually even those stopped as Blazer deemed his current depth sufficient. He turned awkwardly in the tight confines of the burrow and sat down to take a quick break.

On the surface, Calibri massaged his jaws – grinning so widely always made his face ache. While rubbing his cheeks, Calibri glared at the ragged hole in the ground. Blazer showed no signs of reappearing soon, so Calibri began to dance. It was not a slow, calm dance, but rather one with a frantic rhythm and raw energy. The Charmander stomped wildly on the grass, threw his head back, and roared to the skies. As he danced, he could feel the power of his distant relatives, the mighty dragons, flowing through his body. Finally, Calibri was left panting but exhilarated, feeling as if he could take on the world.

Calibri’s elation was somewhat ruined, though, as the ground underneath him rumbled ominously. There was no time to dash away before the earth exploded, showering him with grit and dust – then the figure emerging from the ground tackled him, sending him stumbling. Calibri growled and brushed the dirt off his scales. That hurt. That inferior Charmander… Blazer would live to regret that blow.

… Or not quite yet. Before Calibri could move, Blazer created a shield of pure energy, visible as a faint shimmering in the air around him, and assumed a defensive position, ready to reinforce the barrier if it came under attack. Calibri noticed the shimmering and, with a fair amount of grumbling, suppressed his urge to throw boulders at his opponent. Instead he began to dance again. The rush of power was as invigorating as ever; caught in the moment, Calibri bellowed with a wild passion. Power emanated from him as he was granted another fraction of draconic strength.

I see he likes dancing, but can he dance while blind? Mud slap trice. If he decides to poison you, protect. if he uses a rock or ground-typed attackand isn't capped yet, use Counter. If he is imposible to hit, Dragon dance.

Mud slap/protect/Counter/Dragon dance x3

Yikes, sorry, I know I'm almost out of time -- just give me another day or two? :x my bad, have it up asap~~

YES OKAY sorry i am the worst. life stuff you know. Hmm, four conditionals, but with the simple [move]x3 template that might actually pull it off? I may've underestimated you.~

And sure, blinding would be a terrible problem. I agree. That's why we have to do it to him first! With +2 speed on our side and -2 speed on his, I should think our mud-slap will hit him before he knows what's coming. Pick up some of that disturbed mud from his dig and aim for the eyes, Bri! (Anyways, mud-slap is a ground-type attack, so maybe that'll trigger the counter instead? Hmm.)

Hm, and if he can't see, will that shift to 'impossible to hit'...? Either way, with him blinded and slowed (and I've just got confirmation that opponent pokemon can't 'hear' the trainer's orders), you should be able to get around behind him and throw another toxic at his back before he understands what's happening quickly enough to go through pulling up a protect shield. So maybe he'll just try to mud-slap you again (and miss! cause you'll be around the back and all).

Aaaand let's see if we can't hit that cap. ... Let's try something a little reckless: iron tail! You ought to be close by him by now anyways. Though I don't like the odds of that chance if you've already been hit by mud-slap, so if your accuracy level is down for whatever reason, go with a nice reliable headbutt instead. That oughta throw him off his game too.

With the exhilarating power of the dragons flowing through his veins, Calibri moved much faster than his cowed opponent. He bent down to scoop some dirt in his hands, rolled it into a baseball-sized clump, then threw it. The attack struck true, splattering all over Blazer’s face with an unpleasant squelch. Squealing with discomfort, Blazer rubbed at his eyes, but he only succeeded in driving little grains of sand deeper into his eyes. With a wail he gave up, squeezing his eyes shut and hoping that his tears would eventually wash the worst of it away.

Irritated by the particles digging into his corneas, Blazer lashed out with a fist, hoping to catch his opponent across the face. No such luck though; Calibri was quite a distance away. Blazer reluctantly opened his eyes to observe the results of his attack, but the orange blur that was probably Calibri was nowhere near arm’s reach. Mocking laughter drifted across the arena.

Then suddenly, the orange blur was on the move, tiptoeing stealthily in a wide circle. Suspicious, Blazer kept his blurry eyes trained on his opponent. He ran through his commands in his head so he’d know what to do, but… What was he supposed to do, again? Protect, Counter, Mud Slap, Dragon Dance… If Calibri did this, then he ought to do… ugh. Blazer’s eyes crossed ever so slightly as he struggled to make sense of his convoluted commands. Meanwhile, Calibri took advantage of Blazer’s confusion and darted in close, a thick substance bubbling in his throat. He retched, sending a glob of viscous toxins in Blazer’s direction; unable to remember to Protect in time, the Toxic hit him on the back, where he was unable to scrape it away before it sank into his skin.

Blazer sat down, feeling rather dejected. The poison in his system was already making him feel sick, which certainly did not help with the royal headache his commands were giving him. Maybe it’d help if he thought about them a bit longer? Seeing no other option, Blazer continued to puzzle out his orders, hoping that his trainer wouldn’t be too angry with him…

Meanwhile, Calibri was thrilled with his opponent’s inaction. The sitting Charmander was an easy target for his next move. Molten metal seeped out of unseen pores in Calibri’s tail, coating it with silver. Then he walked up to his opponent and spun in a quick circle, using his shiny, reinforced tail to deal Blazer a strong slap. Blazer was thrown harshly to the side, but it didn’t hurt as much as he thought it would, as his naturally sky-high body heat softened the metal before it struck.

It seemed that the pain had cleared Blazer’s mind, because after rubbing his shoulder for a bit he scooped some dirt from the ground beside him and began to roll it into a ball. Calibri knew what was coming and backed away a few steps, but the ball of mud was already flying at his face. Unlike Blazer, Calibri did not make the mistake of rubbing the dirt even deeper into his eyes and opted to shake his head violently instead, but that made little difference. The mud stubbornly clung to his face, obscuring his vision.

CharizardHammer, normally a Pokemon can only handle 3 conditionals without getting confused. I gave Blazer a small chance to act correctly, and he got lucky on actions 1 and 3.
Mud Slap is a ground-type move, but it is special, not physical. Blazer still used Counter, which failed.
Blazer did nothing on action 2 due to being confused by his commands.
