Thanks Kusarigamaitachi for picking this up.
Thanks TruetoCheese for battling with me.

Go Choo and Gully.

Thanks for battling with me! :D

And you're welcome. Also, I hate ordering first HNNNG.

Gogogogo Bilberry and Madeline! Strut your stuff, girls! Literally. Bilberry, show off your feminine wiles and wag that tail at Gully, Attracting all his attention. If he senses your emotions early and rejects you (The cold hearted turkey!) with a Protect then Double Team (5 clones) in your anger!

If you haven't Attracted him on the first action, Attract away, keep doing it until he feels the same way you do about him. Complement his geometrically perfect wings and beautifully oiled down, compare it to your own oiled body in magnificence!

Once Gully has fallen beak over talons for you, display your friendliness to your new partner by hugging Choo really tightly with a Body Slam. Repeat the huggles until the end of time. Though, if Choo used any Status move except Encore on a previous action, Encore it on the next, tell her you loved how she did what she did!

Bilberry: Attract @Gully/Double Team (5 clones)~Attract @Gully/Body Slam @ Choo/Encore @ Choo~Attract @Gully/Body Slam @ Choo/Encore @ Choo

Madeline, you swipe and spiral your segmented tail about and form a little colorful Confuse Ray, make Choo feel drunk from it. If she Protected from your seizure-o-matic then Double Team (5 clones) or however many you can.

Then keep trying until she does become confused, or becomes blind from the shiny ball of spacemagicdarkevilshiny. Follow up by swiping your wad of completely legal Confuse Ray at Gully until he's confused. Then Butt Heads with Choo until she thinks your way.

All cities built below sea level, especially so close to the ocean, have to deal with the risk of potential flooding, and the city of An Flooding is no exception. With the characteristic arrogance of mankind, the city decided time and time again that massive walls and dams would suffice against the might of the ocean itself, and even named itself in defiance of the gods of the ocean’s wrath. And, indeed, the city has prospered over the past century, growing larger and more sprawling over the decades, while pumping money into maintaining the wall. But the walls are old and worn, and the safety inspectors underpaid and easily-bribed, so it was only a matter of time before the dam finally broke.

The normal response would be to get away from the city as fast as possible. Indeed, most native An Floodingians have fled by air or by car many hours ago. But Asberians, even the newest battlers, have never been the sanest of people, and two new trainers are braving the flood for a pokémon battle with the intent to stay only a few steps ahead of the water each time.

Not having determined the rate at which water is rising through the city—fortunately for the Asberians, on an incline—no one has bothered to figure out where in the city to actually start the battle, so with an odd conviction that the water will rise and trap them faster if the battle starts too high in the city, the referee stops at the first park it can find. It’s a small one on the corner of a residential block, with a swing set and plastic slides for children and bars and nets to climb on as its centrepiece. The ground around the play area consists of soft sand, and park benches are placed all around the sand pit. Discarded plastic buckets and shovels lay strewn across the sand, along with the remains of what might have once been an extensive sand castle, as well as a thin blue jacket left on a bench.

The rising waters are still a ways away, though the Asberians can see it creeping towards them. Fortunately, it’s too far for any pokémon to summon any sort of massive wave to overtake the park, which would feel too much like the flood reaching out to grasp the Asberians. Drumming its fingers on its own poké balls, each one holding a pokémon capable of flying or teleporting all participants to a safer location should water overtake them, the referee lays out the rules and calls for the trainers to do their thing.

Deadfan22 is up first, and it quickly plucks two poké balls from its belt, a cubchoo and wingull. The wingull swoops into the air upon release with a cry for food, but the cubchoo is more reserved. Choo takes a moment to look out at the encroaching water, then gives a hearty sniff. A large droplet of snot is sucked back into her nose, but it’s barely a second before it starts dripping again.

TruetoCheese grins and tosses his own two poké balls. Like Deadfan22, one is a water-type, this time a poliwag who looks out at the floodwaters with longing. The skorupi, though, would very much prefer to stay dry. She has little means of locomotion in water, and would find herself at a disadvantage even to the apparently-ill cubchoo. Like an old hand at battling, TruetoCheese spouts a couple of paragraphs of instruction at his pokémon, trusting them to remember everything he says. Deadfan22, meanwhile, doesn’t see the need, and its pokémon take comfort in its apparent confidence.

And the battle begins.

Round One

Bilberry offers Gully a confident grin and calls out a greeting. Gully returns with a wordless question, and Bilberry responds by showering Gully with compliments, with just a hint of awe in her voice, and a few subtle gasps in all the right places. His wings, the colour and shine of his feathers, his obvious comfort in the sky and water alike. They’re a perfect match—even her tail, she says, swishing the aforementioned appendage lazily through the air, is not unlike his feathers, and don’t they have the same method of keeping the water from hindering them, with the thin coating of oil that makes her skin and his feathers so beautiful?

Gully gives a shy little caw and coasts in a circle above Bilberry. So is that how she feels? He could hear this all day. He could look at her all day, even, and damn the rising waters. She’d probably look even more beautiful swimming, with him flying above or resting in the water alongside her, two water-types alone in the world. Well, Choo can swim, he’s sure, or just go away, and Madeline can drown for all he cares, but Bilberry? With him is where she belongs. And if she likes looking at him so much, then, well, he’ll give her more to look at, more angles to appreciate him from at once. He puts on a burst of speed that leaves behind three afterimages, each one a perfect little wingull drifting in the wind.

Madeline generates a stream of swirling lights that draws the eye into its mesmerising pattern and sends it flowing over Choo, filling Choo’s vision and mind with the beauty of the golden and multicoloured lights. The lights surround the cubchoo and flit around her like living things, fireflies or fairies or little spirits that just want to play, and for a moment, Choo wants to join them. But she remembers that she has something to do. With an apologetic smile at the fairies forming a dome around her, she wipes some snot onto her paws and holds her paws out in front of her. Wind rushes out from her paws, bringing flakes of frozen snot with it, tearing across the sand. Gully gives a warning cry, but the snow just rushes past Bilberry, perhaps because of the distracting fairies blotting the poliwag out from Choo’s sight. Madeline, though, has no such defence or luck, and the cold bites into her skin with the flakes and chunks of snot.

With Gully safely out of the way, Bilberry turns on Choo. She runs, swifter than one might think on her stubby little legs, and leaps. She lands stomach-first on Choo’s body, sending the cubchoo sprawling, though the poliwag has no arms with which she can simulate a hug. With a bit of effort, she rolls off and smiles down at the ice-type. Choo is left achy and pained, and though she manages to stand, it’s much slower than it otherwise might have been, and her movements more jerky.

Gully cheeps, a confused little whine that doesn’t betray the extent of his feelings. She’s supposed to be paying attention to him, him, him. He hasn’t known his partner for very long, but he’s pretty sure Choo never expressed interest in girls or poliwag before, and either way, Choo can’t be into Bilberry. They’re partners. Choo would never betray Gully like that. Maybe, Gully thinks, maybe Bilberry’s losing interest too quickly. She didn’t look all that impressed with his clones, after all. But he does know what she must love: water. And while he can’t make the flood come any faster, there is another source of water at his beck and call, and this time, the water’s fresh. He flies in a graceful pattern not unlike a dance, all the while watching Bilberry to see if she’s looking at him, and his clones mimic his movement like a contest appeal. The sky darkens as the clouds congregate above the battlers, and soon enough, fat droplets of rain splash into the sand.

Gully wasn’t thinking ahead, though, and the rain shreds his clones on impact. Madeline clacks her mandibles. She’s not a major fan of being in rain, but with this, there’s no question of which wingull to target. She shoots another glittering beam of lights that dazzle and astound Gully, momentarily distracting him even from his disappointment and embarrassment.

Choo’s too busy blinking the lights out of her own eyes to pay much attention to anything, and her head feels light and cottony besides. She staggers a few steps, then plops onto her butt in the sand, surrounded by glittering fairies that shine like little angels. She reaches out at one of the lights, but she can’t seem to grasp one.

Her thoughts are interrupted by a heavy impact, and all the fairies and angels fly away to be replaced by more conventional stars. Bilberry struggles to roll off Choo and get back to her feet, smirking. Well, it was quite rude to ignore her after that hug.

Gully just watches, though, his eyes taking in every detail, every nuance of her expression, all of the total lack of attention she’s paying him. He’d just wanted to chat, really, maybe show off a little and see her smile and laugh, but she’s just ignoring him. And—and attacking his partner, which he reluctantly concedes isn’t acceptable if they’re going to be friends, let alone anything more. And even now, Bilberry is barely paying attention to him.

Well, clearly Bilberry just wants to fight. So he’ll give her a fight.

Gully summons all the strength he’s got into one might flap of his wings, and then another, and a third, the wind whipping up faster and stronger each time. By the second, he’s already got a powerful whirlwind, and by the fourth, it’s a massive hurricane whipping rain into everyone’s face and making the swings fly straight up, barely held back by the chains. Sand whips up into the air along with the wind, spitting grit into everyone’s eyes, but Gully doesn’t care. With a fifth flap, the hurricane goes roaring toward Bilberry. It effortlessly lifts her up into the air and buffets her with the sand and wood chips and bits of plastic. Bilberry’s scream is soundlessly torn from her throat by the force of the wind itself. Quickly spent, the hurricane vanishes into faint breezes and drops her back into the wet sand, where she lays, quivering.

Madeline can say without question that she’s quite impressed—and a little scared. The winds effortlessly picking her partner up like that and tossing her around and then just dropping her like nothing happened… it’s a bit like a nightmare. And right now, she doesn’t intend to draw Gully’s attention. Instead, she scuttles across the sand and slams her head into Choo’s midsection. The air rushes out of Choo’s lungs with a startled whuff, and the last of the fairies flees. But Choo is in no position to take advantage of her newly-cleared sight until she can catch her breath.

Well, that didn't go as well as I'd hoped. But no matter, we'll strike a deal with the stomach devil. Cut off your health with a Belly Drum, Bilberry, and maximize that attack! Follow up by pounding Choo with two consecutive Waterfalls, which should bring on the good hurts. You should be able to perform Waterfalls, what with the rain around you and the fact you probably have a special water storage organ for such occasions. If you can't Waterfall on an action, or it would be weakened significantly, replace it with a Body Slam.

Bilberry: Belly Drum~Waterfall @Choo/Body Slam @Choo~Waterfall @Choo/Body Slam @Choo

Madeline, I know you don't like the rain, but it brings out your eyes. Prove that to Gully with a very attractive dance in the rain, prove that you love his little storm, made even more alluring by the Water Gun he soaked you with. Then pretend to be enamored with him, hop playfully over there and deliver a big, sloppy smooch on his cheek, with a bit of your special brand of toxin mixed in with it. If you can't smooch him (you should be able to beckon your love down from the skies in a shy, southern belle way) then just hug him, inserting the toxins from your claws! Then follow up with a(nother?) hug with your delightfully sharp claws, accidentally spiking him with a shock of venom. Apologise profusely afterward, of course, you can't help it that your body is constantly secreting poison, like how his wings are constantly secreting manliness.

Round Two

Bilberry lets out a grunt and gives herself a mighty whack on her stomach, sending sharp pain through her insides but clearing her mind and sending her blood pumping. Ah, there it is, she thinks, the burst of pain that defines battle. Now she can properly fight. Not like Gully, who gives her a sharp glare and turns to spit a weak blast of water at Madeline, but with a proper attack that’ll take advantage of the rain he so generously summoned.

Madeline, though, is more impressed, despite what her irritated spluttering might look like. Or at least, that’s what she tries to convince Gully of. He peers at her, sceptical, uncomfortably aware that this situation is a bit familiar. But she persists, indulging his pride in his power instead of his appearance or any perceived similarities, and he can’t help some part of him from giving into hope. Bilberry may have been horrible, but she doesn’t have to ruin his life forever! But his heart lurches when Choo’s snot freezes over in an instant, and a pale blue beam shoots out at Madeline, leaving her shivering. Gully gives Choo a reproachful look, but Madeline didn’t mind being hit by water before.

Besides, a flare of water spinning around Bilberry like an aura tells him Choo’s about to receive the proper response, and he’d feel bad if he had to do that. Even if he’d rather it wasn’t her. As Bilberry smacks into Choo, Gully thinks for a moment, wondering if he should go through with what he’s been commanded. But Madeline did like that water gun before, and if she likes his power, surely she’ll like his next display. He flaps his wings hard, summoning all the wind to his call, and a massive column of water and wind tears into Madeline, throwing her into the air until it fades seconds later and drops her to the sand. Madeline quickly gets to her feet, though, and stares up at Gully, calling him to come down. He frowns and does so, and she plants something like what she assumes is a kiss on his cheek, black drool spilling onto Gully’s feathers that sting and tingle.

Gully peers at her, suspicious, but he supposes it doesn’t hurt, whatever it is. So maybe they can just avoid hurting each other from now on? He wants to hurt Bilberry, still, but not her. Yes, that sounds like a good plan. Choo seems to agree, shoving her claws into Bilberry’s stomach, but it doesn’t manage to tear through the skin.

Bilberry coats herself in a rush of water again and charges at Choo belly-first, smacking Choo once more to the ground, but it again doesn’t go unpunished. This time, though, it’s Gully wheeling around and smacking her with his wing. He turns back to Madeline, satisfied. See how Bilberry likes it when he’s the one snubbing her, now that he’s got her much better partner willing to be closer to him. When he flies to Madeline, though, instead of affection, he finds himself subject to a blast of purple liquid splattering all over his face. See, Madeline calls, voice full of mirth, she can do the liquid thing too. But he can barely hear her, too busy listening to his blood scream. It burns! Not only where the liquid hit, but inside him, through his wings and head and heart. And she did this! Madeline!

If she loved him—if she really loved him—she would never have done that. She was just trying to make him get his guard down, he realises. As was Bilberry. Both of his opponents are exactly the same, raising his hopes just to dash them against the ground. And Kyogre and Rayquaza damn them, it hurts. What kind of pokémon would be so heartless as to do that? It’s got to be the dirtiest trick in existence. But he’s smarter than that, he wants to scream, he’s better than them, and if they want to reach for his heart just so they can crush it and think he’ll just take it, they’re wrong.

Something dark trickles into the drop of snot hanging from Choo’s nose, a glob of noxious purple in the mucus, and she grabs the globule in her paws and flings it at Bilberry. The snot splatters on Bilberry’s front, smearing the toxin all over her thin stomach, and Bilberry is forced to spit out Choo’s nasal secretions so that she doesn’t have to swallow them.

Round Three

Bilberry turns to stare at Choo, but to Choo’s surprise, she stands completely still, making no move to attack. It’s enough to give Choo pause. Even through the thin layer of dark toxins on her stomach, the spiral formed by her organs is faintly visible, and Choo finds herself strangely drawn to it. Part of it is the fascination with the skin her claws couldn’t puncture, but there’s also the spiral itself. Surely it’s not moving? But it is, pulling the spiral toward its centre, and Choo along with it…

Choo’s eyes slide shut, and she nods off where she sits, dreams filled with spirals and whirlpools and the sensation of soaring through a tunnel.

Not that Choo knows anything of flight—not like Gully, at least, and Gully’s ready to prove it. He’d rather hit someone, of course, but getting away from them isn’t a bad idea, either. He abruptly turns and tears upward through the air, until he’s at a much safer altitude. He doesn’t seem to notice the trail of glittering lights futilely trying to chase him, and doesn’t even turn until he can circle from too far for his opponents to reach. Still, he can clearly see the grounded pokémon playing about below him. Choo’s asleep, of course, and the other two are just peering upward into the rain. He thinks that perhaps something unusual is happening to Bilberry’s stomach—his sharp eyes can identify movement of some sort—but it’s not really important, because it’s time for him to act. He swipes his wings downward, and thin blade of air goes rushing down toward an unsuspecting Madeline. Unfortunately, though, the blade quickly loses its integrity and, by the time it reaches the ground, is nothing more than an uncomfortable blast of wind throwing rain in the skorupi’s face.

Madeline clacks her pincers. There’s no hoping Gully’s coming down, then, she supposes, and she turns to Choo instead. She can’t attack Choo because Choo’s asleep and might wake up from sudden bursts of pain, and Gully’s definitely not asleep. Doesn’t look like Choo’s waking up, either. She exchanges an irritated glance with Bilberry. They’re not just going to do nothing, are they? It’s cold and wet and the sand is gross under her feet, and there’s the water creeping toward them. It’s alarmingly close, actually, though Madeline seems to be the only one alarmed.

Bilberry, meanwhile, is still pointing her stomach upward and spinning her organs with all her might, apparently undeterred by her previous failure. Hypnosis does sometimes fail to entice the opponent, after all. Still, she can’t tell if Gully’s even paying attention, or if the psychic signals can reach him. Either way, he doesn’t fall out of the sky as she hopes, and she lets her organs settle with a frown.

Gully, too, is forced to contemplate his actions. While he could have hoped that air slash would hit, there’s no way he can even try an aerial ace from up here. Without a boost from fly, even gravity won’t pull him to the ground fast enough. Besides, he’d have to come back up here, and that’s not exactly possible, either. Both of his opponents are staring up at him—and is it his imagination, or are Bilberry’s eyes glowing?—as though they’re hoping he’ll come down, but really, it’s not as though he’s feeling particularly charitable towards them. At least they’re not picking on Choo.

In the end, Gully doesn’t come down, and Choo shows no signs of stirring. There’s nothing for Madeline to do but wait.

Confuse Ray @Gully ~ nothing ~ nothing
Status: Irritated. Gully should just take attacks, damn him.

Notes:
- Confuse ray missed Gully.
- Neither of Gully’s attacks could reach grounded pokémon. Air slash targeted Madeline but failed to reach her, and aerial ace was impossible to attempt, so Gully didn’t bother.
- However, this also put Gully out of range of all attacks that would have targeted him. Both hypnosises missed, and Madeline could not attempt her attacks.
- Two rounds to flooding.

Arena:
- It is raining (1 more action).

Next round:
Deadfan22 issues commands
TruetoCheese issues commands

Thanks, Control.

Sorry about the mix-up, Gully. Start with an Aerial Ace/Fly down combo at Madeline. If you can't do that, split it into two actions. If she protects/detects or is unhittable, use Tailwind. Follow this with nothing if the combo worked. If it didn't, fly down. End the round with a Ice Beam @ Madeline. If you can't hit her, use the same move at Bilberry. Use Agility if they both are unhittable.

Aerial Ace+Fly(down) @ Madeline/Aerial Ace @ Madeline/Tailwind ~ Nothing/Fly(down) @ Madeline ~ Ice Beam @ Madeline/Ice Beam @ Bilberry/Agility

So, sleep it is. Choo, all you can do is Sleep Talk. Once you are awake, use Ice Beam at Madeline. If you can't hit her, use Hone Claws.

Sleep Talk/Ice Beam @ Madeline/Hone Claws ~ Sleep Talk/Ice Beam @ Madeline/Hone Claws ~ Sleep Talk/Ice Beam @ Madeline/Hone Claws

Is that is easy enough to exploit?
