Mike vs. Blazhy

Well, yeah... :| I was going to wait for Linoone. It's fine and I appreciate the thought as well, but we didn't request one... Linoone will be back soon, so it's all good.

Yes, one does not generally go and ref in another ref's thread unless someone has requested a substitute.

The two trainers loitered around while their referee was gone. They had a small chat with The Boss Lady, who had appeared to inspect the damage done by the Toxic, then continued staring into space and doing nothing. The crowds came and went, and, when nobody was paying any attention, a Turtwig suddenly appeared and started waving flags about. Mike was the first to speak up, a bit confused at what the Turtwig was trying to do -- nobody had went to the Emergency Referee Outpost, so how did this Turtwig get here? Blazhy also snapped out of her stupor and, realizing what's going on, kindly explained to the Turtwig that he's not supposed to be here, while The Boss Lady nodded in agreement in the background. The Turtwig left, seeming a bit down, and the trainers went back to the most interesting activity of staring into space.

What seemed like eternity later, a flustered Linoone rushed out of the crowd, still carrying its backpack even though school was over. "Sorry guys!" It called out and plopped its backpack to the ground, then quickly extracted its referee flags out of its beret (nobody could still figure out how it fit them there) and waved them. "Round start!"

Lutra was feeling pretty tired, but he decided that pain was definitely worse, and, with a sudden burst of speed, the Buizel leapt through the sharp stone shards and ran into the crowd. The people gasped and oohed as the otter pokemon quickly dodged between the stampeding feet, then finally stopped, panting slightly, when he was a good distance away from Phalanx. The buizel peered through the moving crowd nervously. He didn't really want a sneak attack by Mr. Tentacles to hit him, and he couldn't really see the Lileep from this vantage point. All he could do is hope that the Lileep couldn't see him. Phalanx, on the other, uh, tentacle, wasn't planning on attacking though. The Lileep focused, and his body was covered with a healing green light. The cracks and cuts on the fossil pokemon's body sealed over, and, when the light faded, Phalanx looked to be in much better shape than before. However, the Lileep was dead tired. The intense healing had taken a lot of energy, and, although he wasn't in much pain anymore, he still felt as if he would drop dead any second now. Phalanx silently wished for this round to be over soon, and for that annoying orange otter to faint already.

Lutra ducked beneath the crowd, trying not to get stepped on, and looked about. He couldn't really see Mr. Tentacles, but he was sure there was something glowing way out in front of him a bit before, so he decided to attack in that direction. Just in case. The crowd gathered closed when Lutra started gathering a globe of icy energy in his mouth, then quickly scattered when they realized what he was up to. Drawing up water from his water sacks, the Buizel took a deep breath and spat out the water and the air. The icy energy in his mouth quickly turned the previously harmless mixture into a powerful Blizzard, and the flurry of freezing wind and snowflakes blasted through the street, hitting the Lileep right in the face. Seems like Phalanx was just unlucky... The wind chipped away at the Lileep's body, and Phalanx braced himself against the cold, because there was nothing else he could do. After a while, Lutra couldn't keep on upholding the attack anymore and paused for a breath. The crowd all but escaped now, and gentle white snowflakes floated to the ground, covering the battle-worn streets with a beautiful sheet of white. The crowd, or what was left of it, oohed. It never snows in Shibuya, and it was almost Christmas, too, and the few bystanders were obviously overjoyed. Then...

"Sine!"

Lutra flinched and looked around.

"COSINE!"

The referee looked up from its steaming bowl of ramen.

"TANGEEENNNTTTT!"

A large black... thing crashed through the crowd and, with a single swipe, knocked Lutra to the ground. It then disappeared, dropping a strange brown pin on the way. "So zetta slow!" the creature could be heard taunting in the distance.

Lutra winced in pain and crawled back up. Whatever attack that creature used, it was powerful, and it hurt. The few bystanders were just confused at why the Buizel suddenly fell down.

Phalanx, tired as he was, wasn't about to let this little distraction go to waste. Now that the crowd had scattered, he could see the Buizel clearly, and he focused a burst of grass energy into the ground. Vines burst out of the asphalt and wrapped around the Buizel's feet, and Lutra gave a surprised yelp as his feet gave out underneath him. Lutra fell once again, his back crashing to the ground painfully, but the vines still wouldn't let go. Instead, the plants towed the buizel, feet first, towards Phalanx, who was looking deathly tired by this point. The vines gradually loosened and shrank back into the ground as Phalanx gasped in fatigue.

Lutra just lay on the ground for a while, panting and trying to ignore the pain. His vision was starting to blur, and he wasn't sure if he could survive another hit. Biting his lips, he crawled up again. One more attack... Maybe he can knock Mr. Tentacles out... Maybe... Drawing up another huge breath, Lutra breathed out a blizzard of freezing cold wind at the Lileep. Phalanx braced himself for the impact, but, surprisingly, none came -- the Buizel, in his delirium, had missed the Lileep by quite a large distance. Phalanx watched the Blizzard with mild amusement and allowed himself to take a breather before his next attack. He was deathly tired and would rather plop down and sleep for a few days, but he still had a battle to finish. Phalanx coughed up some seeds and flung them at the Buizel. Before the seeds could even sprout, Lutra decided that he had had enough and gave up, sinking into the nice, calming blackness.

Mike the Foxhog quickly took out a pokeball and withdrew the Buizel in a burst of red light.

Well then... Chill twice, and use Giga Drain (health). If Kitaniji uses Protect, Detect, or is otherwise out of range (not including Substitute) or has clones, gimme a good Curse. However, if you got Roared while Chilling the first two actions, then Chill (or try to) on the 3rd action as well.

Anyway, chilling's not the thing I'd most like it to be doing right now... why not take advantage of the trends and its Ice weakness and smack it with Ice Punches :3

The referee rummaged through its backpack for a while, as if looking for something. A short while later, it triumphantly pulled out a bowl of Insta-Noodles and a thermostat. Ripping open the paper cover on top, the referee carefully poured some hot water from the thermostat into the bowl and dumped the contents of the small packets of condiments into the noodle soup. It then set the bowl aside and placed its chopsticks on top to prevent the paper flap from curling up and turned its attention back to the battle.

Mike sighed, cursing Blazhy all the while as he once again fished for his next pokeball. A burst of white light later, a small blue and black canine pokemon had materialized on the battlefield. The Riolu looked around, studying his surroundings carefully, then gave a small sigh. Seems like he wasn't very amused with his current battlefield.

Blazhy, on the other hand, decided to use this time to bribe the referee congratulate the referee on its recent win against some video game bosses or something. The referee graciously accepted the jar of awesomesauce from Blazhy and set it aside, then, seeing that Mike was looking more and more unamused by the second, waved its referee flags. "Round start~"

Kitaniji cracked his knuckles and chuckled coldly. If this tentacle thing is going to ruin the peace in Shibuya, then it is a swell time to beat that thing up. The Riolu's paw begun to glow as a layer of ice covered his knuckles, and the canine pokemon charged forward, smashing his fist into the Lileep's side. The fossil pokemon grunted in pain, but he was so deathly tired right now he did not really care anymore. Chuckling to himself at the bad puns (Ice Punch? Chill? Yeah.) the Lileep closed his yellow eyes and tried to make himself comfortable, which was a pretty hard thing to do considering that he was freezing cold and felt like he was about to die. Although almost freezing to death, Phalanx could feel a surge of energy returning, and that was good.

Kitaniji drew his fist back as a smirk crawled up his face. So this tentacle thing is not going to fight back, eh? Well, that just makes things easier for him. His fist once again covered with ice energy, the Riolu punched the Lileep very hard on the side again. Phalanx, on the other hand, continued to Chill. Ahhh, Chill, ice is popular, ice is cold, ice is chilly, ahahaha. He wondered if he was going get a Chill boost for his bad pun. Or whether he was going insane from the cold. Despite the horrible pain in his back, he was feeling more energetic now. Perhaps he could win this battle yet.

The Riolu, on the other hand, was starting to get bored. The tentacle thing wasn't attacking, and Shibuya was still as noisy and crowded as ever. In fact, it seems even more noisy and crowded than before... Must be because of the layer of snow on the ground. Why was there snow here anyway? It never snows in Shibuya. Kitaniji shook his head and cleared his thoughts. He had a battle here, and even if this tentacle thing wasn't attacking, it probably will soon. A layer of ice covering his fist, the Riolu punched Phalanx solidly on the side again before jumping away. Phalanx didn't mind the punch that much anymore though -- the first two had hurt so much that he was basically numb right now, and, for some strange reason or another, the last punch didn't hurt anymore.

All of the sudden, a neon-blue tornado appeared. The tornado smashed into Phalanx and stopped, relieving a long, neon-blue creature, which then fled the battlefield. Kitaniji chuckled at the noise as another pin dropped to the ground. Shibuya is Shibuya, and it was good to know that there was still Noise here.

Phalanx didn't even flinch when the Death Thrash Mink struck. The attack didn't hurt at all for some reason, and he wasn't about to complain. The Lileep waved his tentacles and focused. Kitaniji started to glow with a strange green light, and the Riolu could feel his life force leaving him as blobs of green light broke off from his body and was absorbed by the tentacle thing. A few wounds on the Lileep slowly healed over, and Kitaniji was left extremely unamused.

The crowd, on the other hand, was quite amused by the sparkly Ice Punches and were still cheering.

The ramen was different this time though -- it wasn't the regular ramen it used to eat. This time, the noodles were black, and "Shadow Ramen" was written on the bowl in big, bold letters. The referee hummed to the music as it quickly waved the flags; epic boss music needs action, and spending time describing ramen is not fit for such an awesome soundtrack.

Round 13 Start​

Kitaniji was not very amused by the boss music. He wasn't Minamimoto! Why is Someday playing?! Of course, the music had started during the last round, but he still wasn't very amused. An icy glow covered his fist, and the Riolu nimbly leaped forward and gave the fossil a good punch in the stomach before jumping back. Perhaps the previous ice punches had cooled the Lileep down, because, instead of melting, the ice left over by the Ice Punch stayed on the Lileep's chest. The coldness seeping through the layer of ice was numbing, and Phalanx found himself unable to move the bottom half of his body. Not like it mattered, because he did not need to move to use his next attack. The Lileep focused and tapped into the Riolu's life force. A strange green light once again covered Kitaniji, and small green orbs of light floated out from his body. Phalanx gladly absorbed the life force, feeling slightly better than before. Just slightly.

The epic boss music suddenly stopped. A cold chuckle rang out over the field, and the referee cursed very, very loudly.

A large humanoid creature with tiger-like stripes and large, yellow wings floated out of the sky. "Fools!" It -- she -- shouted, and her shadow rushed out from beneath her and struck Phalanx on the side. The Noise chuckled and flapped her wings, then floated back into the sky and disappeared. A few seconds later, two "bling!"s sounded, and two pins dropped to the streets. One was a pretty black pin with the picture of a squirrel on it, and the other was gray with a skull design.

Kitaniji was getting more and more unamused by the minute. What was the Iron Maiden doing here? And, to make matters worse for him, Someday started playing again. Fist glowing with ice energy, the Riolu once again punched the Lileep. The thin layer of ice cracked but stayed on Phalanx's body. Phalanx cringed, tired and in pain, but followed his trainer's orders; the battle was almost over, and he'll be able to rest soon. The Lileep focused and placed a bit of what energy he had left to the side for use later, and, although he was about to drop dead from fatigue, he felt slightly more powerful with the energy Stockpile.

The Riolu decided that he might as well as finish the Lileep off already -- it was basically a walking zombie at this rate. Kitaniji once again covered his fist with ice energy and punched, but only to feel a strange force stopping him from dealing damage. The referee whistled innocently and pointed at the rulebook. Phalanx took this time to retaliate; he had just enough energy to perform one last attack... A bright ball of energy formed at the tip of his tentacles, and he launched it at the Riolu.

The final attack proved to be too much, however, as Phalanx gave in to unconsciousness the moment the Spit Up smashed into the Riolu's face.

Blazhy quickly withdrew Phalanx in a beam of red light, and the referee waved its flags.

The crowd was obviously impressed by the fight the Lileep has put up and definitely tired of all the Ice Punches. They're only cool to a point, then it just gets boring. The word of the Lileep's battle quickly spread, and the crowd unanimously agreed that Grass and Rock are definitely the way to go.

Welp. I forgot about the energy that Spit Up itself took to perform. Oh and Linoone, I don't know how much you took off for the Spit Up, but Negrek recently changed it so it only does 1.5x the energy Stockpiled. Dunno if that's actually what you did - if it was then my apologies OTL

Hmkay, you're at full health (no duh), so start off with Eruption. After that, Flamethrower twice. Sweep it about if Kitaniji has clones. If Kitaniji Protects, then Howl. And if he goes underground, blast him from under with Lava Plume. We're gonna go full-throttle in these last few rounds~ Feel free to make your fire moves flashier to ooh the audience.

Well, we were obviously losing to begin with, and you got your happiness point. May as well let this end fast so I can get Cappun approved at last~

Tempting as it is to Rain Dance just to make Khoa scream randomly, go crazy with Rock Slides. That 2.25x damage increase from weakness and the trend chart is just too delicious to pass up.

Blazhy had an evil grin on her face when she quickly chose her next pokemon. She quickly tossed her pokeball, and, in a burst of blinding white light, a small, sleek weasel-like pokemon had materialized on the battlefield. The Quilava shook himself, and a bright red flame burst out of the top of his head and his tail as he warmed up. Khao then winked at the audience, who oohed at the pretty fire. Mike, on the other hand, was less than thrilled by the Quilava's antics. He was even less amused when Blazhy gave out orders with a smirk. Cursing furiously and probably wishing that a Noise would appear and run Blazhy over right this second, Mike, too, gave his commands and the referee waved the flags. Epic battle music is still playing, and the battle should get started~

Round 14 Start​

Khao chuckled to himself. This is going to be fun~ The Quilava began to glow a dull red color as the flames on his head and tail intensified. With a loud roar fit enough to shake the heavens added for effect, the fire exploded and shot upwards into the sky, creating a flashy display of fireballs and sparks. The crowd and the referee ran for cover while looking at the Eruption in awe (although the referee just looked at its ramen). Kitaniji was, however, not amused by the fireballs at all. The fireballs came crashing down from the sky, one neatly nailing the Riolu on the head and knocking him to the ground. After getting pelted by fireballs for a good minute, the Eruption finally stopped and Kitaniji crawled up, in pain. The normally black and blue dog had now became all black from being singed and resembled his namesake even more. Tufts of burnt black fur fell to the ground as Kitaniji put out the fire on his tail. Khao, although quite tired by the attack, was crackling evilly, and that made Kitaniji even more furious. Roaring, the Riolu called up energy and blasted a nearby building. The concrete and steel beams crumbled and fell, inviting a lot of curses and screams as people once again fled for cover. Khao, who had been laughing evilly, stopped, cursed, and ran as concrete blocks smashed into the road behind him. Quite a few blocks hit him, but the Quilava managed to escape without taking the full damage.

Khao stopped for a short breath when the building stopped collapsing, and a grin spread across his mouth again. Now that the Riolu's distracted~ The Quilava opened his mouth, drew up the explosive mixture from his fire sack, and spat out a huge stream of fire at the already singed Kitaniji. The little dog was soon engulfed in fire, and, even when the Flamethrowed stopped, he was still burning. Although Kitaniji may be overcooked before, he was now definitely burnt now. A few seconds later, the fire went out as the last of his fur turned to ashes, and poor Kitaniji was left charcoal black and in tons of pain. Khao took this time to wink at the bystanders again, who greatly approve of the pretty fire attacks. Kitaniji wasn't about to give up, however -- a true slammarai fights to the end! -- and sent another burst of energy at a nearby building. Windows exploded, people fled, and half of the building collapsed. This time, however, the crumbling blocks of concrete actually managed to hit their target this time, and Khao was soon buried in a bile of broken rocks and steel beams.

Kitaniji's victory was short-lived, however. A weird frog-like creature popped out of nowhere, gave the Riolu a good kick to the head, and disappeared with a well-aimed rock from the referee. A "bling!" sound followed, and a blue, swirly-looking pin dropped to the ground. Khao had took this time to climb out of the concrete trash pile that Minamimoto would be proud of and shot out another shiny, sparkly, showy stream of fire at the Riolu. This time, the Riolu wasn't taken by surprise as before and Kitaniji quickly retaliated, using the power of the slammarai, uh, Force to knock down more concrete blocks. Khao gave a little yelp as he was once again buried under a pile of rocks.

Khao took the flag-waving as the cue to end this round. He roared again, the flames on his back intensifying into a blinding red. The concrete bile seemed to explode as the Quilava, engulfed in blazing flames, crashed through the streets of Shibuya with a blinding speed and smashed into the Kitaniji. The poor Riolu did not even have a chance as Khao, flames trailing behind him like a comet's tail, recklessly plowing into him. Kitaniji was sent flying backwards, finally ending his fruitless struggle when he smashed into a building and slid to the ground, unconscious. Mike the Foxhog, annoyed to no end but having no other choice but admit defeat, quickly withdrew his fainted pokemon before it could sustain anymore damage. Khao stood on the battlefield, panting from fatigue and pain but with the grin of victory plastered clearly across his face, then he was, too, withdrawn in a beam of red light.

The referee quickly blew a whistle, signaling the end of the round, and onlookers slowly dispersed, seeing that there's nothing left to watch anymore.
