• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Poetry, maybe? Yes, I think it's poetry...

Blastoise Fortooate

Geographical!
Never again
to see their beauty,
Never again their hand in yours,
Never again to know the pealing laughter
That can't reach you on these distant shores.

Never again

will sparks fly between you,
Never again will you hear their words,
Nevermore to match them wit for wit,
Your clever quips like clashing swords.

Not again

to bear such happy burden,
You're freed from love's firm grip,
which held you up, held you from falling,
But now flays you as a burning whip.

Not again

Will you find such solace,
To that I may attest,
Mem'ry of love, lost by your soul
Will keep loneliness abreast.
A uniform
shows harmony!
Fraternity unshakable!

Shows standards

of morality
That seem about unbreakable.

But enemies,

uncaringly,
Will murder faceless men!

The soldiers,

clad congruently,
Are the same from end to end.

Is it worth

the anonymity
To have a stronger team?

Or are people's

personalities
the better things to glean?

Angels!
The Savior's fleet-of-foot
Bringing guidance, showing the words
to those created

Demons!

Satanic, bathed in soot
Tripping people, skinning the knees
of those created

Humans

Good and evil yes, but
Above either, better than both
We are those created.

People

We must run the gamut
Sieve our hatred from our kindness
For that we were created.
Good, bad? Criticism, comments, whatever?

You have a knack for wordplay, but you need to find more interesting subject matter. This actually seems to be a common difficulty for poets. (What are poets meant to write about?) I can't tell you what to do, but I will say that your first poem benefits from being about something fuller than the pros and cons of wearing a uniform. Write about your feelings or about something that happened to you, or write a funny poem with swear words as implied rhymes. Just don't try to squeeze poetry out of subjects which are obviously lacking.

Another thing: for some reason, the font is tiny.

Yeah, that might be that I begin to write some of these in the middle of the night and then finish them/edit them later. Thanks for the comment, I'll keep that in mind.
