[11] Coroxn vs ultraviolet

Alright, let's change this weather to Rain Dance (if Carracosta changes it to Sandstorm, change it back). If Carracosta makes makes a sub or protects or something - use Acid Armour. Otherwise (or if you're taunted), use Energy Ball. If Carracosta digs or something, just... follow him down the ground (phase through stuff if necessary) and do the same actions.

Rain Dance/Acid Armour/Energy Ball x3

Squishy must keep using Rain Dance if you keep using Sandstorm. Don't let her hit you, and instead use Sandstorm thrice, so that it's forced to use Rain Dance in a cycle that ends in Sandstorm.

Squishy has had enough of the sandstorm, and with his trainer's permission, sets about to change it. Working against the buffeting wind, the jellicent sways and dances merrily, if invisibly, through the air. As Squishy's rain dance starts to gain sway over the weather, the winds die away and dark clouds gather in the sky overhead. As the last of the sand drifts to the earth, leaving a substantial dusting of grit over the cobblestones, the first raindrops are just beginning to fall. Within moments a full-on downpour has started, hammering both square and combatants with large raindrops and turning the sandstorm's leavings to thin, soupy mud.

Carracosta actually enjoys the rain; he's an aquatic pokémon, after all. He also likes sandstorms, though, and knows that Squishy doesn't, so he thinks he'd rather have the dust back than get drenched. There's plenty of sand lying around for him to get the storm started with now, although it's now so drenched that it doesn't float nicely on the wind but instead spatters back to the ground in a series of wet plops. It doesn't matter much to Carracosta, though; the initial handful of sand is merely a focus point for his energy and not really necessary to get the proper standstorm going. The energy he pumps into the wind is more than enough to haul dirt and dust from outlying areas and bring it howling down on the arena, brushing away Squishy's storm cloud and reviving the roaring darkness of a full sandstorm.

Squishy makes a few rude, if invisible, gestures at Carracosta, gurgling vehemently to himself. For a pokémon with no battling talent, Carracosta sure is one irritating opponent. Bracing himself against the sandstorm winds, Squishy once again begins a slow dance, swaying and pirouetting with a grace only achievable by a pokémon that can float. It's a performance none will appreciate, since they couldn't see the Jellicent even if their eyes were keen enough to pierce the sandstorm. Still, the heavens are appreciative and send another cloudburst to dissipate the sandstorm. But again, Carracosta is quick to drag the weather back around in his favor, hurrying the clouds on past with a blast of warm wind and suspending sand in the air.

Squishy is determined to have his way in the end and is quick to dance up another rainstorm. As before, though, the downpour has barely started before it is being hurried away by Carracosta's retaliatory sandstorm, and as the round comes to a close it is his choice of weather that dominates the arena. The arena ends the round in much the same state it was in when the round began--but a couple of things have changed. The repeated flipping between rain and sand has left nearly an inch of soupy mud over top of the square's cobblestones, and Squishy, whose skin was dampened by the rain, now finds the sand starting to accumulate on his body, forming a number of small muddy patches. Ordinarily this would interfere with his invisibility, but it's so dark and difficult to see in the sandstorm as it is that the jellicent remains perfectly camouflaged.

- Coroxn attacks first next round.

right, okay. stay invisible and call a rain dance - double team clones can't hold up under rain (or sandstorm, for that matter), then lob Energy Balls at him. Try and dodge the Stone Edges, if you can; the rain should help wash that mud off you.

The rain goes through the clones and slides off the real one; the same thing happened to me in my battle!

As the blowing sand wears at his thin skin, Squishy reflects darkly on just what he'll do to Carracosta if this next rain dance gets reversed. He's had it up to here with his dancing efforts getting erased immediately. He'd give Carracosta a warning glare if he could, but being invisible and stuck in the darkness of a sandstorm to boot, there just isn't must point. He has to concentrate on his dancing, fighting against the wind to get himself moving the way he wants. Ultimately, the jellicent's dancing skill doesn't fail him; the darkness of the sandstorm is replaced by the dimness of a cloudy day as the wind dies away and clouds crowd in overhead. Soon the air is full of raindrops instead of sand, and the mucky crust on Squishy is getting rapidly washed away--although now he is made obvious by rain splashing off and running down his body.

Carracosta snorts as his sandstorm is once again replaced by rain. Well, no point in calling up another one at this point. He'll have to try something else to defend himself from Squishy's energy balls.

He takes off running, splashing unsteadily through the muck that's accumulated on the square's cobblestones. Not a swift pokémon under the best of conditions, Carracosta is even more ungainly now. Nevertheless, he does work up enough speed to produce three illusionary copies of himself. No sooner has he stopped to admire them, though, then he notices that the rain passes straight through them in a most unconvincing fashion. They fade rapidly from sight, their illusion broken.

To make matters worse, Squishy is cooking up another energy ball on his side of the field. Carracosta sees it bloom eerily in midair, its hateful green light reflected off the slick of water covering Squishy's skin. The jellicent lets fly, and Carracosta bites back a groan as the grassy projectile knocks another dent in his armor.

Squishy has made a grave mistake, though, in letting Carracosta know where he is. The rock type marks the jellicent's location well as he lets out a roar and throws up his flippers, calling to the rocks below the earth. They reach up from their underground prison to lend him aid, several thin, sharp-edge shafts punching up through the pavement and into Squishy's vulnerable underbelly.

The jellicent wrenches himself free of the impaling stones, gasping in pain as gaseous essence leaks from the rents the attack leaves in his body. Fortunately, it's invisible, or Carracosta would have an even easier time finding a target for his outrage. Squishy plans to abandon stealth in favor of power for now, though, and kindles another energy ball between his tentacles. Carracosta is looking weary and in pain once the attack strikes, but he's still conscious and lively enough to call up a stone edge. This one is less severe than the last; though it shreds several of Squishy's tentacles, it doesn't hit any particularly sensitive spots.

A halt is called so that the referee can make a final assessment of the pokémon's condition. There's no question that Carracosta's in rougher shape, the energy balls having eaten many deep pits out of his armor, though Squishy is significantly more tired. When the final numbers come out, Squishy is the winner, but not by a great deal. Carracosta has time for one more bitter growl before he is recalled, while Squishy lets his invisibility go, the better to mug for the crowd.

The ragged remnants of the crowd, bravers of sand and rain, cheer vigorously as the trainers exchange the traditional end-of battle handshake and receive their congratulations--and prizes--from the referee.

ultraviolet wins $10 and advances to the next round. $5 goes to Coroxn, and $15 to me. Good battle, you two, and good luck next round, ultraviolet.
