But after browsing round the Anime-Style Battling forum, I couldn't find how to start. Can somebody help?
 
Create an ASB account. Then , go to the, err, I think it's the refferee headquarters. Then you have to basiclly try out. Try and memorize the energy and damage guide before you try out though.

If knowledge serves, you haven't been apart of ASB yet, so make and account aaaaalll the way down (scroll all the way down on any page). You'll see links like 'Contact Us' 'The Cave of Dragonflies Home', etc. There should be one for an ASB account. Clikc that, and make one.
 
Generally, at the bottom of the first Referee Headquarters post, there's a list of mock battles at Novice, Advanced, and Elite for you to try your hand at. Everyone gets a chance at them, then Negrek gets new ones after judging the old ones (so you don't just look at old ones and how to get them perfect via judicial copying). However, they haven't been updated yet, so you can't try out to be a ref yet.

I'd suggest bookmarking the Damage and Energy Guide, if you haven't already, as well as reading through lots of battles, to get a feel for what Negrek will be looking for.
 
the mocks ... don't exist yet, and for all we know, might never exist if negrek decides to overhaul the system instead of adding mocks.
