• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

G/S/C Text Dump

Yarnchu

Yarn is comfy and easy to wear
I found this listed under the links of the G/S Beta Page of Bulbapedia. It is rather interesting. Also, here is a look at the Sweet honey text:

My POKéMON is an expert at collecting SWEET HONEY. I'll share some with you.

My little brother takes SWEET HONEY and goes somewhere with it. I wonder what he's up to?

Did you put SWEET HONEY on a tree? It takes about a day for POKéMON to be drawn to it.

BUTTERFREE: Freeh!

This is a condensed version of it, but it shows that it had the same function. So I guess discuss the text? What did you find interesting?

I've actually known about this for years (since I used to mess around with ROM hacking a lot); there's buttloads of weird, unused stuff in the R/B/Y and G/S/C games.

I guess they must've planned to have the Honey system instead of Headbutt for getting Pokémon out of trees, but either didn't have time to finish the system or decided to save it for later. Another example of how they come up with a lot of ideas a long time before those ideas actually end up in the games (like how Pokémon genders and the ability to play as either a boy or a girl were thought of before Red/Blue, but didn't make it into the game until G/S/C.)

Speaking of unused stuff in the 2nd-gen games... there's also some unused map graphics of a mine cart and tracks. Maybe something along the lines of Oreburg's coal mine was originally planned for G/S/C?
