So. There's the Battle for Asber currently going on, meteors destroying things all over the place, the tournament stepping up, and all sorts of interesting things happening in Asber right now. Things must be getting really tough on Negrek!

Let's irritate Negrek even more, by having a metronome battle in neg's body. Everyone will be shrunken down my minimize magic, and teleported into neg's veins (or something) using a similar method. Energy will be kept permanently at 100%, so there's only one way for this battle to end; with the complete explosion of our head referee. Seems like a great idea, right???

Mewtwo will certainly be pleased, not like they're going to stay conscious enough to celebrate long. Once Negrek is sufficently dead, the battle will move onto neg's corpse and the blood-jars made of rebels.

The fourth round opens with the sudden expansion of all of the trainers, their pokémon, and the referee. Within seconds, they’re all somehow normal-sized and looking onto the new rubble of Negrek’s house. Even the sandstorm has expanded – it’s annoying the entire neighborhood now. All of the fish pokémon are floating in the air for some reason, and while the trainers all look around confusedly, the pokémon just don’t really care. Especially not Luv Muffin, who immediately begins to store power. Noticing his opponent’s aggressive actions, Ed immediately uses Metronome to throw up a Protect shield. Finally, Sparky uses the power of his own Metronome attack to look into Ed’s eyes and read his mind. However, as expected, Ed’s greenish energy shield blocks his gaze and his temporary psychic powers. Ed sighs in relief, only to turn his head and end up staring straight into a charging Luv Muffin. The Luvdisc is taking revenge on him for everything he’s done previously – but both Ed and his Substitute are protected by the former’s Protect. What a useful move to have drawn! he thinks, but it isn’t long before his tiredness catches up to him and the raging sandstorm causes residual damage.

The second action soon proves to be much more entertaining than the first. Unleashing the wrath of the RNGods, Luv Muffin, the first to attack, opens his mouth and begins to fire a volley of seeds in a wide arc towards Ed. The Sharpedo, seeing the admittedly obvious attack coming, dodges it easily – but his Substitute isn’t quite as lucky. Many of the seeds hit the ground around the Substitute and they all spontaneously explode, tearing away chunks and leaving holes in the poor dinosaur-shaped doll. Sparky decides to piggyback on the attack as well, taking Ed’s dodge and moment of separation from his substitute to release a blinding flash in the Sharpedo’s direction. Ed might have been seeing spots, but at the last second his battered substitute leaps in front of his eyes to save the day. Finally, it’s time to retaliate. Ed smiles as he releases his own RNGod wrath, using Rock-Type energy to tear rocks and chunks of dirt out of the ground. He’s so going to bury that Magikarp…

Meanwhile, Mai has finished collecting several jars of Negrek’s blood; in addition, the dictator’s blood has stopped flowing. Mai is just walking backwards towards their pile of blood-filled bottles when suddenly tens of rocks and dirt clumps fall on top of the corpse. Mai jumps backwards, almost tipping over their bottles, and glares at Ed, who only gives a friendly, guilty, apologetic smile. But that smile is the Sharpedo’s last; for as soon as Mai looks away to attend to their blood, the poor shark pokémon gets the last of its energy buffeted out of it by the raging sandstorm, on its last legs. Ed’Rashtekaresket collapses on the ground as the sandstorm subsides, and his trainer recalls him sullenly, quickly retiring to have a quick conversation with Mai.

Luv Muffin barely takes any notice of the late Sharpedo, instead focusing more on the topic at hand; the lone magikarp in front of him. He knows Luvdisc aren’t exactly known as the most powerful pokémon, but they at least get more credit than Magikarp! Pumped up, the Luvdisc air-swims towards Sparky, and thanks to the power of Metronome its body extends to wrap Sparky up completely, and choke some health out of him. But Sparky has a crafty plan up his sleeve; the moment he wiggles free, he mumbles a few taunts at Luv Muffin. Already irritated, the provocations cause the heart-shaped fish to dash forward at Sparky. But at the last moment, the Magikarp darts out of the way, leaving Luv Muffin to crash into the pile of boulders on top of Negrek’s body. And at a high speed, too. That had to sting.

Superbird waves the flags to begin round five, and subsequently Sparky begins feeling quite confident in himself. He can DO this! He’s come this far, after all. So once again, he uses Metronome, finding himself again at the mercy of the RNGods – but he’s unaware that Luv Muffin has already gone; the Luvdisc is waiting for the Magikarp to attack, so that he can counter his opponent’s move. But Sparky never attacks – to the casual observer, and also to Luv Muffin, he appears to just be basking in the sunlight. Only Sparky realizes that he’s soaking up energy from the moon thanks to his own Metronome attack, a fact that would be more apparent if it were nighttime. Soon, the carp pokémon has recovered about half of his original vitality before Luv Muffin has had a chance to react.

Realizing what his opponent just did, Luv Muffin becomes even more annoyed. He uses another metronome, hoping that this time he’ll get something decent to attack with. The result ends up being that he attacks with all of his positive energy – which isn’t much. As the heart-shaped fish rams into Sparky, the Magikarp easily brushes off the attack, and retaliates by biting Luv Muffin’s fin as he retreats. The wound, Luv Muffin soon discovers, continues to itch and throb, much like the bite of a bug.

As annoying as it is, Luv Muffin tries his best to block it out and instead focus on using Metronome again. This time, he’s rewarded more highly, as he suddenly sprouts white glowing wings out of nowhere and takes to the skies. He circles around a bit and then dives, smashing into Sparky with his right wing. As soon as the attack is finished both wings disappear, but this time Luv Muffin is satisfied. Meanwhile, Sparky is making his best effort to implant nightmares into his opponent’s head – another technique he learned from using Metronome – but he’s not having any success, sadly. Eventually, after a few minutes, he gives up and Superbird signals the round to a close.

feh.

("you all except half the participants" yes)

Would be nice if you recorded the metronome (item) count, but also irrelevant because instead of anything lame like attacks with base power, we're aiming for greater things, Luv Muffin! Recover, then follow up with a lock-on and sheer cold!

not like "winning" means anything in a metronome battle

I would make some sort of statement about how metronome battles are silly and useless and indicate nothing about the trainers' abilities, except really the only reason I don't is because no exp.

... not that that means much.
