• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Steam Canyon

Alraune:

You continue on, descending the other side of the hill and back into the thick ash. There are signs of something having been around this area, so you poke around a little to see if you can find what it was. And it doesn't take long to find out - a Phanpy (F) pops out of the ash and trumpets excitedly in your direction.

you don't need confirmation from me when you catch something, unless you're on a Full Session; you can just add it to your profile!

Pass.

The boy's reasons for being there can be quite easily figured out from a glance at him; his loose clothing and bag full of Fresh Water, among other small cues, make it obvious enough that he has come prepared to beat the heat. Beside him trots a rather powerfully-built ponyta by the name of Cole.

Arriving at the main gate, Blastoise slides his SZ card to the fellow in the booth and makes it clear that he and his little pony plan on braving the depths of the canyon. He also asks if they have a map, perhaps. Or food.

I'd like to go for a round along the paths. I'll take my Charmeleon, Cato. (I really need to finish my other spots in the zone so I can update my PC. ._.)

Alraune:

You move on, after patting the little ground type on the head, and continue to enjoy your stroll. But after a few moments, a loud snap sounds near your leg - you narrowly missed having your foot trapped in the vice-like jaws of a Trapinch (M).

Phantom:

Welcome to the Canyon! As you enter, you are given a box tied up with a neat green bow. Inside is a Leaf Stone!

You wander along the paths, your Charmeleon at your side, admiring the gently rolling hills around you, rocky and dotted with rough shrubs as they are. A large boulder cluster catches your eye, though it may be from the sun reflecting of that Bronzor...

After taking your fee and giving your your Grand Opening gift, the man in the booth offers a map of the area, pointing out the location of the entrance to the mountain's heart, the Boiling Pits. He cautions you that the area is dangerous, and you should keep your Pokemon close at all times, so it's Flash Fire can absorb the majority of the heat. He also offers you a waiver to sign, and a packet of Lava Cookies as a bonus.

Around the booth are all kinds of Pokemon sounds, the sun beating down and attracting the fire-types, but none are really close enough to make out clearly. The walkway to the separate areas is to your right, the entrance to your left, and sheer cliffs to the front and back.

No.

Alraune:

Moving ever deeper into the ashes, you soon stumble upon a pile of apicorns of all things. You move to touch one, but you are interrupted by a large, metalic creature looming over the other side of the pile - this seems to belong to a Durant (F)!

You walk past the rock pile, and quickly spot yet another Pokemon, this time climbing all over one of the few, spindly trees around. An Aipom (M), playing with a Shiny Stone!

(oh and Blastoise can you tell me if you want the regular or full session?)

Sheer cliffs are almost as awesome as a free thunderstone– Blastoise reminds himself to get a pikachu or something. Waivers are slightly less awesome, but to be fair it was probably a necessary evil. But Lava Cookies, dear lord; Blastoise hadn't had these since he was about eleven, and they were every bit as fantastic as he remembered. Cole seemed to agree.

Speaking of Cole, Blastoise reflected for a moment on why he had chosen the horse to come with him on this trip. Oddly enough, a number of his team were capable of braving the depths of the Boiling Pits (jeez, might as well have called it DEATH FIRE KILL or something); his ponyta, though, could carry him and not get tripped up in the rocky terrain.

Turning to the right, he and Cole followed the directions on the map he had gotten, occasionally splitting a cookie.

Phantom:

You continue on, soon coming on a strange warm spot. Poking around a bit, you come across a Vulpix (F) gleefully burning a shrub. She hasn't noticed you.

Blastoise Fortooate:

The trip is an uneventful one, past the other areas where, if you look, you could see a few others adventuring in the canyon. And finally, there it is. Before you yawns the mouth of the cave that will lead you deep into the heart of the mountain, and a hot breeze seems to pour out of the rocky maw like the breath of some horrible beast.

Inside it would prove just as sweltering as one would imagine, lit by a constant reddish glow underlying the softer white of the lights at the mouth of the cave. Steam rolls from cracks in the rocks around the path, obscuring much too far ahead.

Oooh, a cave. Putting the depleted box of cookies away, Blastoise adjusts his socks and heads downwards, watching his feet to make sure he keeps steady footing. His glasses occasionally slip down his nose, but it proves to be too much trouble when that combines itself with the steam; his glasses, now both temperamental and coated with fog, are quickly shoved into a case and put away. Squinting, he leads Cole downwards, cursing his nearsightedness and lack of contact lenses.
