• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

I've just upgraded the forum to vBulletin 3.8.4, which has admittedly been out for a while, but my license had expired. I got a vBulletin 4 license for my birthday, however, which reenabled the downloading.

If you were wondering, yes, we will be switching to vBulletin 4, but apparently its styling system is hell for anyone looking to seriously change anything as opposed to just switching out a background image or two, and all hacks will have to be remade or at least re-implemented, so it might be a little while before that can happen.

Finally, I am hoping we can resolve all the server and database trouble by moving the forums to a new server. Kat from Eevee's HQ offered to be the new host for the forums, so I'm hoping to get the forums moved there very soon. I'll get back to you on that. Just to clarify, this will not mean the loss of any data whatsoever, so don't worry about it.

are there any changes to the forum that we would notice with the 3.8.4 upgrade?

also yay~ new hosting. C:

Will there be any server down time before/during/after the switch?
Yes, there will have to be a downtime while the database is dumped and reloaded on the new server.

Does this mean there would be a different domain name for the forums?
They'd probably be moved to a subdomain like forums.dragonflycave.com.

Nothing overly interesting to my knowledge; it's just a standard maintenance release with bugfixes and so on.

No, it is still hosted in the same place.
Um, huh? What gave you the authority to answer that question? o_O And seeing as I just said it was going to be hosted in a different place, um.

Because forums.dragonflycave.com actually used to be the old Invisionfree forums and I never bothered to move it since dragonflycave.com/forums worked just as well.
