Skylark vs. Suicune and Kyogre

Persephone: Rain Dance ~ Snatch / Sing ~ Sing / Dream Eater (Energy) @Suicune

Static: Thunder@Kyogre ~ Thunder@Kyogre / @Suicune / Discharge ~ Thunder@Kyogre / @Suicune / Discharge

Static, wait for that rain dance and blast Kyogre. It should be out like a light after that. If it misses, do it again on Kyogre on the second action but wait for it to surface from that dive first. Although, if you can hit it underwater, you should do that. On the third action, if the thunder on the second action missed, use it again on Kyogre. If thunder hits on the first action but Kyogre hasn't fainted, use discharge on the second action. If it misses Kyogre or Kyogre' still hasn't fainted after that, I'll scream hax while you discharge again on the third. If Kyogre fainted on the first action, blast Suicune with a thunder on the second and the third.

Blazhy, will sing be able to hit even if there's a substitute? If Suicune is asleep and has a substitute, will Persephone be able to use dream eater to suck energy from the substitute? If yes to both,

Persephone, start off with a rain dance. Sing until it works on Suicune. Then, dream eater energy.

If no to either question, snatch on the second action then sing on the third.

Suicune gave a mighty huff, and a swirl of snow and ice shot from its mouth. At the same time, it extended its power over the north wind and created a vicious, driving gale, which whipped the snow at Skylark’s Pokemon. Persephone cried out as she was assaulted by winter winds and pelted by ice crystals; lucky Static was saved by his Substitute yet again. The attack left Persephone shivering and the Substitute on its last legs, though the ambient charges surrounding them kept away the worst of the cold. Still, Persephone’s teeth chattered uncomfortably, and not even the miniature sun in the room could warm her up.

Persephone groaned at her next command. Maybe the pseudo-sun wasn’t doing the best job at warming her up, but it would be preferable to rain, right? But it was sputtering anyway, as if the energy that fed the intense light was running out; it would be best to change it to something that benefitted them. The rain would guide Static’s powerful Thunders. Persephone shuffled around a bit in the most graceful dance her rotund body would allow, nurturing a gloomy grey orb between her hands all the while. With a few final spins, Persephone threw the sphere towards the ceiling, where it exploded, instantly dousing the mini-sun and kicking the weather generators to life. With a whirring sound they began to spit out rain. Skylark opened his umbrella again.

With the rain aiding his efforts, Static knew that his next attack couldn’t possibly miss. The mighty Kyogre was done for. Static let out a high-pitched cry, and the heavens boomed in response, sending a great pillar of lightning onto Kyogre a second later. Engulfed in the hated electricity, it flailed and arched its back in pain. The legendary’s roar was so loud it nearly drowned out the thunder itself. However, it seemed that roaring was the only thing Kyogre had the energy left for; with a massive thump the whale hit the floor again, unconscious. The legendary then burst into static and faded into the air.

If Suicune was concerned by the disappearance of its teammate, it didn’t show it. It simply spat out another stream of the gel that formed a Substitute earlier in the match. Realizing this, Persephone created a ball of dark energy between her palms. It stretched towards Suicune, waiting… As soon as the Substitute began to take shape, tendrils of shadow shot forth, dragging the structure towards Persephone instead. Suicune barked in annoyance and gave its opponent a murderous glare, but the Chansey took no notice; she was already shoving a nutritious egg down the stolen mimic’s throat. As soon as the egg disappeared into its mouth, the Substitute turned a pale pink. It blinked and shook each paw experimentally.

Without a decoy to protect itself, Suicune was now at the mercy of Static’s electric attacks. It growled at Static in an attempt to intimidate him, but the Mareep was already crackling with electricity. Suicune tried to brace itself for the impact that it knew was coming, but no amount of anticipation could prepare it for the burning pain. The crashing boom temporarily deafened the great beast and the electricity fried its nerves so that even when the attack faded away, the tenacious agony remained. Wobbling on its feet, Suicune gave a low moan; its legendary stamina was starting to waver.

Suicune knew that if it wanted a chance at winning, it needed to take care of one of its opponents. Much to its dismay, both looked relatively fresh, though Static was without a single bruise after coming out of his healing trance. With a sigh Suicune lowered its metabolism, causing its body temperature to plummet. Then it spat a stream of water, the liquid freezing as it passed through the mouth. The result was a thin beam of ice that slammed into Persephone’s Substitute, which threw itself in the way just in time. Suicune growled as its opponent was protected by an insultingly pink Suicune lookalike. That was its own Substitute, damnit.

An ominous crackling interrupted Suicune’s internal complaining. There wasn’t even any time to bark in panic. Another column of lightning engulfed the legendary, searing and burning and roasting. So great was the pain that Suicune couldn’t even whimper. In fact, it couldn’t move a single muscle. Suicune prayed that it would regain control as soon as the Thunder dissipated, but no such luck; his limbs remained stiff.

If there was ever a time Suicune needed to be calmed, this was it. Persephone seized the opportunity. She closed her eyes and clasped her hands together, a lovely lullaby pouring from her throat. Her voice was angelic, and despite himself even Static started to feel a bit sleepy… Unfortunately, the effect was mostly lost on Suicune, as its ears were still ringing from the boom of repeated Thunders. It strained to hear, but could only catch a few words; when the song drew to a close, the beast was still very much awake. Persephone pouted, angry that her performance was wasted.

Almost unnoticed by the battlers, Suicune’s flickering Reflect gave out entirely. The pinkish screen collapsed on itself, forming a heap of pinkish dust that floated away on the wind.

Skylark, a Substitute takes all status conditions for its creator, and all direct damaging attacks. This means that neither Sing or Dream Eater would work on a Pokemon with a Substitute.

If I dream eater to get energy, I'd lose more energy than I'd gain, according to my calculations. Is this right?

When Skylark’s Pokemon heard their commands, they practically dropped to the ground in equal measures of exhaustion and gratefulness. They were too tired to care about the rain or what Suicune had in store for them – they had their Substitutes to protect them, if only for a short while, right? As it turned out, “short while” was an exaggeration of Static’s guardian’s remaining lifespan. Suicune exhaled heavily, sending a chilly gust towards its opponents. As expected, the Substitutes leapt in the way. Static’s disintegrated immediately, reduced to a few scraps of cotton while Persephone’s shuddered, clearly having great difficulty keeping itself together.

Static opened a sleepy eye and realized that his protector was gone. Oh, well, it had served him for a good amount of time. The last shreds of Icy Wind blew a bit of cotton at his face. They tickled his nose, and he sneezed.

Suicune waited for a few moments to see if its opponents would act, but they just lay contentedly on the tiles, snoring to their hearts’ content. Snorting impatiently, Suicune lowered its head and dashed forwards at top speed, plowing recklessly into Persephone’s decoy. The crumbling structure didn’t have a chance – it was brutally smashed by the tough crystal on Suicune’s head, and even its augmented defenses couldn’t save it. It simply burst apart and drifted slowly to the ground, resembling pale pink confetti.

Now it was Persephone’s turn to observe that she was now vulnerable. Like her partner, she hardly seemed concerned. She felt healthy enough – save for her crippling exhaustion, of course – and was confident she could survive whatever Suicune threw at her. Murmuring peacefully, she closed her eyes again and rolled onto her side.

By now Suicune was getting annoyed at its opponents’ inaction and apathy. Ignoring legendaries right in front of your nose? When most mortals were lucky to even meet one? No, that did not happen. Suicune surveyed the area for trees or cliffs, but the terrain was completely flat. Growling in irritation, the legendary pawed impatiently at the ground, but with nothing to climb it could not attack.

Skylark’s Pokemon, sensing no attacks, grew curious and opened their eyes. Why wasn’t Suicune acting? It was better for them if it didn’t, of course. Suicune was simply standing there with a confused and angry expression, and Static and Persephone soon lost interest, sinking into slumber once more.

A loud yawn suddenly echoed through the room, projected by unseen speakers. It seemed like whoever was running the simulation was getting bored, too. All of a sudden, Static leapt to his feet with a startled squeak, as if he had been electrocuted. No more Chilling for you, a bored voice said. You’ve used up your allotted rest time. Static grumbled and shook his sodden coat, sending droplets flying everywhere. Rude as it was to have his nap end so abruptly, he was feeling fairly well rested, and ready to take on Suicune once more.

Struggling with stiff muscles, Suicune managed to stomp on the ground just as Static pointed his muzzle to the ceiling. A seismic wave rushed in all directions, causing tiles to buckle and break as a small ridge of earth pushed its way up in the wake of the small earthquake. Static lost his concentration for his attack and stumbled as his legs were swept from under him, landing painfully on his knees. Persephone managed to stay on her feet, but she was bounced around so much that her feet quickly became sore.

At last the final tremors died away, and Static shakily rose to his feet. His knees throbbed – he wouldn’t be able to move as fast. Not that he was fast to begin with. At least the next attack did not require movement. Static began to spark with electricity as he concentrated fiercely. The sight was very familiar to Suicune, and it groaned just as there was an earsplitting crack and boom. A fork of lightning stabbed downward from the ceiling, flooding the water legendary’s body with electricity, so much that it could barely stand it. The pain was agonizing. Even worse, Suicune could feel his limbs stiffening again – as if they were not taut enough already!

After the Thunder died down, Suicune had barely a moment’s respite before Persephone grunted and another bolt of lightning struck the great blue beast. Overcome with pain, Suicune had to roar, but its throat was so unresponsive that the most it could manage was a high-pitched, inelegant squeak. By now, Suicune was scorched all over, its pelt mottled with dark spots, tufts of fur sticking out of its usually-seamless mane.

Panting and fighting nausea, Suicune had to take a moment to regain its breath. That insolent Mareep, harming a legendary so… The black dots spotting its vision told Suicune that it did not have long before it fainted. May as well leave Static a nice parting gift. The legendary began to cough violently and make thick gurgling noises. Static grimaced; it did not sound healthy at all. The resulting sludge that flew from Suicune’s mouth did not look healthy, either, and that was all Static could observe before it splattered on his face. The Mareep squealed and shook his head, sending noxious drops flying, but most of the fast-acting poison had already sunk into his bloodstream.

In a flash, Persephone was by her partner’s side, gingerly wiping the Toxic out of Static’s eyes. Don’t let that distract you, she urged. Look at Suicune – he’s about to fall over! Another Thunder can do him in! You can do it! Don’t believe in yourself; believe in me who believes in you! With that Persephone began to clap and cheer wildly, encouraging her partner. Static couldn’t help but smile at the Chansey’s infectious optimism.

With Persephone cheering him on, Static found the charging process much easier – it was as if his partner was helping him gather electricity. Before long the Mareep had gathered the required charge and more. The room was filled with crackling. Feeling threatened, Suicune tried to back away, but it found it could not even do that: whether by fear or paralysis, its limbs were locked in place. The legendary beast could only watch with wide eyes as Static cried out and an exceptionally thick pillar of electricity engulfed it. As if the pain had broken whatever immobilizing spell cast on Suicune’s body, it began to writhe madly, unable to stand the agony of the electricity coursing through its muscles, searing it from inside out. Suicune could stand it no longer. At long last, the mighty Pokemon slumped, defeated.

Nodding, Skylark recalled his tired Pokemon and exited the building. There was a small crowd at the entrance which Skylark had to fight through, and several meteors lodged into the ground which he had to scoot around to get home.

Meanwhile, in the simulator room, the dragon was inspecting the weather generators. Frequent weather changes, combined with the amount of electricity needed for the battle, meant that the generators were stressed and in need of serious repairs.
