• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Okay, so I'm making a Mystery Dungeon 2 walkthrough for no reason other than that I am insane and I'm randomly obsessed with Mystery Dungeon.

I've only managed to beat either of my copies of Time/Darkness once with Pikachu and Squirtle. I'm wondering if people who haven't used Pikachu or Squirtle can give me pros and cons on the other starter/partner Pokemon to add to the starter analyses (which currently include type information, evolution information and level-up moves). I'll mention you in the walkthrough, don't worry.

Thanks in advance.

I can help with that.

Meowth
Pros: Pay Day is a great way to make money
Fun to use
Learns attacks quickly
Cons: Somewhat weak
Slow to train

Cyndaquil
Pros: Lava Plume has great crowd control
Levels up somewhat quickly
Has fair stats
Cons: Has poor defenses
Is weak to a few fairly common and annoying types.

Munchlax
Pros: Great stats
A departure from the norm
Evolves into one of the awesomest Pokemon in the MD games
Cons: Doesn't learn many damaging moves; thus you have to teach it many TM's to make it worth it.

Mudkip
Pros: So I herd u liek Mudkipz
Great attacking skills
Hard to defeat
Has few common weaknesses besides Grass
Cons: Somewhat hard to train
Has a fat head

Chill, Mewtwo. You're the one that's spamming and abusing '!!!!!!!'s.

Well, I can provide Chikorita and Torchic...

Chikorita
Pros:
-Giga Drain + Overgrow. 'Nuff said.
-Easy to train.
Cons:
-Weak to common types such as Fire and Flying.
-Rather limited movepool.

Torchic
Pros:
-Somewhat versatile movepool.
-Strong against one of the most common types in the game: Grass.
Cons:
-Horrible in under-leveled boss fights.
-Ground types murder it. I'm looking at you, Earth Power Camerupt. >>

Hope this helps.

Yup, Shining Eevee, it helps. *adds to walkthrough*

... Oh God, I'm gonna get murdered by Earth Power /again/? ._.

Skitty:

Pro:
-Learns Attract and Sing, which can be useful, especially in boss battles
-Learns Fake Out early, which can hit 2 squares away

Cons:
-Not many strong offensive moves
-Girly looking

DD: Being feminine is not a con. Christ I mean what about transexuals or whatever they're called?

Chimchar the awesome flaming monkey :DD
Pros: Has nice attacks that go well with its stats
Is cute when sleeping
Totally pwns with Violent Seed
It looks awesome
It's a monkey. 'Nuff said
It's bright oraaaaaaaaaaaaaange the color of my hair :D
Is the one who can best use Brick Break and Flame Wheel for total sweeping
Cons:
It usually has a bit of trouble beating Flying/Dragon types like Dragonite or Salamence
Is weak against Water and ground which are common types of moves
Doesn't have the best defenses
None of the above are true because Chimchar is pure awesome

Totodile
Pros: Is awesome at attacking phisically, which goes well with its movepool
Has great type coverage in its movepool (Crunch+Ice Fang+Water Gun+Slash=Total ownage)
Is mainly weak to Grass, which can easily be defeated by Chimchar
It's from Jhoto, which seems to be everyone's favorite region
Cons: Is not good at defending

This team is pure awesome nonetheless
