Aethelstan vs Superbird

Not Meowth

Cat, are you drilling?
3 vs. 3 Rotation Battle
Style: Set (only if it's recalled)
DQ: Seven Days
Damage Cap: 40%
Banned Moves: OHKOs, Chills limited to 2 per pokémon, Direct healing limited to 1 per pokémon
Arena: Open-Air Stadium

In the center of Asber is a large dome. Now, most of the arenas in this dome will be utilized in the coming tournament, but Superbird has managed to reserve one of them—The one which has recently been outfitted for Rotation Battles. The arena itself is nothing special; Just a standard-sized arena with no special effects.

Hoever, this is a rotation battle, and as far as I know there have never been any rotation battles in Asber before. So I'll explain how this will work:

Each trainer will send out three pokémon. One will be the battler, and two will be in reserve, situated behind the main battler. Neither of these reserves will be counted as KOed unless they actually are KOed. The battling pokémon will attack each other as usual—but only each other. The reserve pokémon cannot, under any circumstances, be targetted by any move.

But that would be pretty boring on its own, right? Well, anyhow, at the beginning of each round, in the same post in which they order commands, a participant may rotate their active pokémon with one of their reserves. The active pokémon then becomes a reserve and the reserve becomes the battler. The trainer then orders commands for the new battler. This rotation does NOT take an action to do, but may only be done before anything else in the round. If there is a rotation on both sides, they both happen at the same time.

Basically, a rotation battle similar to in Black and White.

Additional Rules: None, aside from what has been already stated.

Rotation battle, Aethelstan. So Terrowin is your lead pokémon. What're the others?

Oh, and I forgot to mention in the arena notes; For experience purposes, the pokémon that deals the final blow gets the experience for the KO.

Sorry, sorry. Confused this battle for tournament one for a little while. I think I'm delirious. Edited my new choices into my first post.

S'okay.

Firestrike, you're up, followed by Drillbud and Dokon.

Okay, pre-round: If Aethelstan switches immediately to Dominic, then we'll Rotate to Drillbud. It he rotates to Kenneth than we'll counter by Rotating to Dokin. Otherwise, here are your commands, Firestrike.

Firestrike, let's start off with a nice Swords Dance. Then, Shadow Claw your opponent twice. If Terrowin protects on the second or third actions, Swords Dance again.
Swords Dance ~ Shadow Claw/Swords Dance x2.

If Drillbud switches into Dominic, then we'll have to attack with Drillbud instead. Drillbud, if this happens I want you to start out with a Leech Seed, followed by two Seed Bombs. If for some reason you can't use Seed Bomb then use Energy Ball instead. Hone Claws if your opponent protects on actions 2 or 3.
Leech Seed ~ Seed Bomb/Energy Ball/Hone Claws x2

And if Aethelstan rotates to Kenneth then...Dokon, I want you to use Focus Punch if it's using a non-attacking move. Rock Smash otherwise—unless it uses Earthquake in which case avoid that with Bounce.
Focus Punch/Rock Smash/Bounce x3

Well he seems to have us at every turn.

Let's first Rotate to Kenneth.

Then we'll Mud Slap him twice. After that, not Earthquake, but Earth Power. Weaker, but he didn't specify to avoid it so it should work.

The streets of ASB Central are bustling with an abnormal amount of activity as Pokémon lovers crowd to the stadium to watch a hotly-anticipated Pokémon battle. This battle is unlike any others, however; it features an interesting new format that's all the rage in the Unova region, but is only just being tried out in Asber. Always keen to experience new twists on the tired old system of battling, the spectators pack every seat in the stadium.

The last few audience members find their seats as the referee calls for the crowd's attention. Clearing his throat, he thanks them for coming and introduces the trainers, who stand at opposite ends of the stadium, Pokémon already out and raring to go. On Aethelstan's side are a Mudkip, Ralts and Geodude, staring eagerly across the battlefield at Superbird's Torchic, Ferroseed and Croagunk.

Seeing the trainers' and their Pokémons' eagerness, the referee decides not to waste any more time, giving the audience and contestants a brief refresher of the ins and outs of the rotation battle system. The crowd murmurs as they soak in the details, and when the referee finishes his explanation, he blows a whistle, and with a tremendous cheer from the crowd, the battle starts!

As the battle begins, Terrowin's horn glows brightly as he scans Firestrike's mind, searching it for any idiosyncratic traits or abilities inherent to the Torchic. To his astonishment, he discovers that Firestrike has a strong natural affinity for fire, one that strengthens when he is in danger. Terrowin uses his psychic abilities to copy this trait and acquire it for himself, right before his trainer orders him to rotate and swap places with Kenneth. He steps aside, allowing the Geodude to roll up and take his place, to which Firestrike flits behind Dokon, allowing he Croagunk to stroll into his place. The crowd murmurs quietly as this occurs; that actually wasn't very exciting at all. Still, maybe the battle itself will be alright.

Cracking his knuckles threateningly, Dokon springs over to Kenneth in one powerful leap, inspecting the Geodude while his cheeks throb with a mirthful croak. This is his opponent? A tiny little pebble? Why, he's cracked bigger stones than this in half with his eyes closed. Raising his arm high above his head, he clenches a fist and brings it down on Kenneth's head quicker than a flash, the punch connecting with a loud crack and putting several small fissures in the rock Pokémon's scalp. The Geodude lets out a grunt of pain while Dokon steps back and admires his work; this guy must be made of sterner stuff, he thinks to himself with a frown.

Clumsily rubbing at his head with his rough, craggy hands, Kenneth sets out getting even. Fumbling around the dusty, earthy floor of the arena, he feels his hand sink into a wettish patch, the soil just moist enough to clump together in a sticky mass. Peeling off a dollop of the muck, Kenneth quickly hurls it at Dokon, but the Croagunk predicted his attack. Moving quickly, Dokon shields his face with his hands, most of the mud spraying across his arms and front but missing his eyes. Well, mostly; a small splash of dirt managed to flick itself over his barricade and land in his eye, causing a slight irritation and nasty stinging pain.

Blinking furiously to dislodge the clump of mud, Dokon clenches another fist, rushing forward and bringing it down on the same spot as before with a grunt of effort, producing another loud crack and a widening of the fissures in his scalp. His head pounding with agony, the Geodude quickly swipes up another handful of mud and hurls it at Dokon, but the Croagunk again blocks it from hitting his face, trilling wickedly but being cut off as another tiny clod of mud ricochets off into his eye.

Beginning to lose patience with Kenneth's childish mud-flinging antics, Dokon lets out a trill of rage, leaping into the air and bringing his hand smashing down on Kenneth's head with more ferocity than ever. The enormous crunch that hits the air elicits an emphatic oooh from the crowd as Kenneth lets out a tremendous bellow of agony. By now, chips of rock are beginning to break free from his splintered head, and he feels almost certain he already has a concussion. Despite his incredible pain, he manages to focus on the battle, surrounding his body in a pale brown glow and letting out a ferocious roar that echoes through the stadium.

Almost immediately, the ground responds to his yell, quaking and rumbling dangerously, and Dokon decides it's time to get the hell out of there. He turns tail and begins to flee from Kenneth as the ground splits behind him, shooting forth geysers of seething magma. The fissure outpaces him by quite a bit, however, and the Croagunk lets out a croak of terror as the ground beneath him disentigrates, dropping him into a chasm and dumping rocks on him before a jet of molten lava blasts him back onto the surface. The traumatised frog collpses on to the ground, reduced to a quivering wreck, while Kenneth is far too busy trying to endure the pounding ache in his head to enjoy his sweet revenge.

=REFEREE'S NOTES=
~ I'm not quite sure how to list all the commands when rotations are involved, so I'll just do it wrongly.
~ Terrowin's avility is now Blaze.
~ each Mud-Slap dealt exactly 3% damage, which should have been completely negated by Anticipation, but I thought it seemed silly to have a successful attack deal 0% damage, especially one like Mud-Slap which would otherwise have some pain-inducing effect on its target (i.e. blinding mud in the eye).
~ all three Rock Smashes reduced Kenneth's Defense.

=TURN ORDER=
~ Aethelstan attacks
~ Superbird attacks

I can see this is going to be pretty complicated. Oh and by the way Meowth, you put my name over both teams, for both the pre round and post round stats. You also have his commands under my Geodude. Just so you know.

Actual command time: Before we begin, if he stays in with Dokon then we go to Terrowin. If he changes to Firestrike, we go to Dominic. If he goes to Drillbud, then we stay in with Kenneth.

Terrowin vs. Dokon: Let's mix things up a bit with a Trick Room first of all. Then use Hypnosis. If Hypnosis hits, then suck him dry with Dream Eater. If not, then use Zen Headbutt. If at any time he forces you to attack, use Psychic.
Trick Room/Psychic~Hypnosis/Psychic~Dream Eater

Dominic vs. Firestrike: Be annoying, use Mudslap. After that, if he uses a non-damaging move, then use Toxic. If he uses a damaging move, then use Water Pulse. If you used Toxic the previous action, then finish with a Water Pulse. If not, then use Toxic.
Mudslap~Water Pulse/Toxic~Toxic/Water Pulse

Kenneth vs. Drillbud: OK, your defense is low, so use Defense Curl twice. Then use Rollout. If he forces you to attack, then use Bulldoze.
Defense Curl/Bulldoze~Defense Curl/Bulldoze~Bulldoze

All righty then. I'll Rotate to Drillbud to match your Geodude.

Drillbud, you've got yourself an easy set of commands to counter. Let's go with Iron Head twice. After which, just Protect against that Rollout.

Round two

Superbird calls out to the slightly befuddled looking Dokon, and he reluctantly steps aside to let Drillbud take his place. She eagerly rolls onto the battlefield, then swivels round to face the grimacing Geodude opposite her. Kenneth growls at her and bares his fists, trying to ignore the steady ache of pain coming from his fractured head. He tenses up, then lowers his head and wraps his arms around himself, drawing himself up tight to cover up his weak-spots. The cracks and dents in his craggy armour slowly begin to repair themselves a little, but he is still left looking chipped and battered.

Drillbud rolls forward, her dark yellow eyes locked firmly on her opponent. The thorns on her body bristle, and their earthy green colouring is replaced by a metallic sheen. She flings herself at the curled up Geodude head-first, and collides with her unsuspecting foe with a crunch of metal on rock. Kenneth gives a howl of pain and jolts upright again, the fierce ache in his head abruptly returning.

Drillbud gives a small click, then spins away from her grumbling foe as she prepares her next move. Kenneth glares at the retreating Ferroseed, then begrudgingly goes back to honing his defences. He wraps his arms around himself and curls up tight, allowing the network of cracks on his rocky form to seal up a little. Drillbud narrows her eyes at Kenneth, then spins forward, allowing her thorns to take on that metallic sheen again. She smashes forcefully into him, her steel thorns biting viciously into his craggy hide. Kenneth gives a pained groan as he is flung backwards by the force of the strike, and he’s left lying in a tangled heap.

Drillbud spins about happily as she surveys her handiwork, and Kenneth glowers up at her as he rubs his aching head. He’s had enough of playing defensive, and he’s more than ready to take that smug Ferroseed down. He gives a low, rumbling growl, then wraps his arms around his body as he curls up tight again. Drillbud gives a sharp click as she spots the danger, and she narrows her eyes at the Geodude as she prepares to defend herself.

Kenneth flings himself forward, and allows himself to roll towards Drillbud like a boulder. The ground shakes slightly as Kenneth rumbles towards his target, but Drillbud is ready for him. A shining dome of green energy flares up around her, and Kenneth bashes into the barrier with a loud thud of crunching rock. He falls gracelessly to the ground, looking confused and aggravated. He shakes his head to clear it, and glowers at Drillbud as he sees the protective barrier she’s hiding behind. It isn’t easy to read the expression of a Ferroseed, but Kenneth can’t help but think she looks unbearably smug like that; staring out at him with her deep-set yellow eyes.

Thank you so much, Byrus.

Well, I think I'll keep Drillbud out there. Energy Ball thrice, and Protect if your opponent tries to use any Status moves--but never more than once in a row.

Energy Ball/Protect x3

Aethelstan is DQed. Superbird gets $16. Me and Meowth get $5 each.

Terrowin, Firestrike, Kenneth, Dokon and Drillbud all get one experience point.

guh, hopefully this is right. Haven't dealt with rotation battle prizes before.
