Open The Amityville High School of the Strange and the Supernatural

Thorne

It's feeding time

Welcome to the Amityville High School! The school is positioned on a hill at the edge of Amityville, giving it a nice view of the calm town. The school only invites students, and pays for all the costs at the exchange that the students live there during their three-year studying period. The school building is a beautiful, old place, over two hundred years old.

That is about all the information given to the public about the school, and that is for a reason. behind the patterned stone walls, decorated by angels and demons alike, hides a much darker reality than is to be believed. The seemingly innocent high school only invites students with supernatural abilities, and is not only a school, but also a training ground for the students to hone their powers.

However, things are even darker than they seem at first.

Want to find out more? Then open the gates and start your first year at Amityville High School, the school of the Strange and the Supernatural!

"Have the students gathered yet?"

The large auditorium was, much like the rest of the Amityville High School, a beautiful piece of architecture. From the mahogany floor to the crystal chandeliers in the roof, everything was a marvel to look at.

"Yes, most of them, Mr. Crimson."

At the very end of the room was a small scene, where the few teachers were standing.

"Good. I assume they are as lively as the previous years?" One of them said, a tuxedo-clad, tall and wrinkled man with silver hair.

"I'd say they're even worse," said another one, this one much younger, blonde and sickly pale; Not to mention his noticeable stubble. "Don't you agree, Blair?"

"Most likely." Said the only woman of the group, a pink-haired, bespectacled beauty. "I'm not complaining, though. It makes the process of... TAMING them that much more interested."

"Well, let them in, then." Said the silver-haired man, "Young Theodore might not be here yet, but we won't drag it out by waiting for him."

The pale young man walked up the door at the entrance, and opened it. Outside, a large group of young students stood, a loud buzzing of voices going between them.

"Alright, calm down, please!" The young man said, before moving the side to all the students to enter. "You can enter, take the seats as far in the front as possible, please!"

Eris wasn't at the front of the group that had gathered, waiting to be let in to the auditorium - she had stationed herself at the back, but as soon as the doors opened, she stalked forward, knowing others would let her pass without much of a problem. Anticipation coiled inside her, and she smiled, not caring that she wasn't being given space because of any sort of reputation, but because every step radiated another wave of unease, the feeling spreading out like ripples in a pond. She knew she was doing it, but preventing herself from doing so was hardly fun, or all that easy. Besides, this ensured she was one of the first to take a seat, not in the front seat but two rows back.

This little mutiny accomplished, she lounged on her bench, eyes narrowed. The other students were flowing in, and she watched them as much as the teachers. Soon, she'd have the chance to talk, to pick out the little flaws and nervous tics and the things they didn't want to talk about - and then the fun would begin.

Her smile widened, and one might have called it cruel. She was very good at this game, after all, and she couldn't wait to see if anyone else here played it.

Armin had seen this moment four times previously. Each time he would try out a different seat, to ensure the best possible first impression. He liked the spot he'd picked this time - the people seemed like they wouldn't be hostile towards him. Maybe he'd avoid being hostile towards them.

The girl next to him tapped him on the shoulder but he ignored her. This time around would be his chance to fly solo.

Malin stood nonchalantly with his shoulders straight, looking down the bridge of his nose around at the other students gathered here. Others with powers like his... although to word it like that was degrading. For all their similarities, they were nonetheless inferior, dull and worthless compared with the gleam of his own golden lustre. Standing at a distance from the main crowd, cold and rigid like the metal plates that adorned his body, he concealed a sneer of elitist contempt for the commoners who swarmed like insects before his presence.

The doors opening wide after what was in his opinion an unacceptable delay, the crowd of riff-raff were ushered in, with he himself following behind at a regal pace. Scorning the undignified pushing and shoving of the mob, to even touch them would be to defile his magnificence, for who knew how many of them maintained acceptable standards of hygiene? Their grimy hands would wipe all over his golden armour... his silken clothes... it made him want to vomit, even thinking about it. Reaching into his pocket, he selected a white silk handkerchief and held it in front of his mouth - as though seeking to filter the very air in which he breathed, fearing that he might catch some vile pestilence from merely mingling with such downtrodden vermin.

His paranoia seemed to grow worse as his proximity to the crowd increased, one girl in particular sending shivers down his spine, causing him to subconsciously move to seat as far away from her as was possible without breaking through the wall. Reluctantly, he positioned himself on the front row, close to a commoner who at least had the decently to dress with some formality. Seating himself down about a meter away from the boy with a very distinctive tie. Folding his arms, he leaned back into his uncomfortable seat and rested his feet an inch above the floor, holding them there out of the fear that they might be tainted by such things as left-over chewing gum.

His gaze moving to the ones whom he presumed would have the honour of being his tutors, he glanced from one to the other in sequence, giving them each a brief appraisal. They seemed as mismatched as the students to his eyes, and he felt uncertain that they would be able to adequately control the rapidly escalating campus population. Groaning, it made him nauseous to even comprehend that he might have to live among people like this...

Nick, having been in the middle of the group, felt overly frustrated at the stupidity of the people around him. He had been about ready to shove them aside, and quite possibly bring out his shade, when a girl walked by. People stepped away from her, and Nick felt the hairs on his neck prickle.

This is going to be a very interesting year... Sure hope I don't sit next to her in any classes... It was only a short time after she left that he was able to push himself through, and force his way into the auditorium, seating himself, much to his dismay, right in front of the strange girl from before. Wonderful. He thought.

Blake walked past the buzzing crowd of people and walked to an empty seat in the fron row. He made sure he wasn't sitting next to anybody. He looked around the room and saw that a girl was walking through the crowd, as if it was parting away from her.

Blake sighed and fixed his eyes to the center of the auditorium. This is going to be one hell of a year, he thought.

Standing in the middle of the crowd, Anya had a smile plastered on her face. The only thing she was worried about was how close everyone was, and she really didn't want her dress to get crumpled, or worse, dirty. Being fairly small compared to the other students, she had to look up at everyone. "I hope I don't get stampeded on," she muttered with concern, holding a long finger to her lips. Thankfully as the doors opened and the crowd started pouring in, despite a few people pushing here and there, Anya was able to make her way without being trampled on. She saw a few others already seated and found herself drawn to an area where there were others. She didn't want to sit by herself, all alone.

Anya sat down in the place with more people, flashing a smile over to them. A friendly first impression counts, she thought, smoothing her dress out.

((Oh wait guys I forgot one detail))

((AAAA I should have said this earlier))

((This your first year. Yes, for all of you. No exceptions))

((Okay keep going))

Neku walked through the doors to the auditorium to see several students in the room. He was psyched to see all the people. To him, there was no true outsider, everyone could be his friend if they want. He looked around for an available seat, and saw one near a guy with long, brownish-blonde hair. With a scratch of his ear, he quickly took off down the aisle and took the seat next to him.

"Hiya!" He said happily. "I'm Neku, nice to meet ya!" He quickly sat down after moving his tail out of the way.

Zeph heard the doors to the auditorium open and the call for everyone to enter issued. He sighed and moved away from the intricately carved support pillar that he had been leaning against, arms crossed, listening to the general chatter of all of the other students. He felt all of the other people begin to surge forward, each causing their own little bend and ripple in the fabric of space. He adjusted his dark sunglasses and walked with the crowd into the auditorium. There was a particularly dark and shadowy ripple that moved past him, a shiver going up his spine as someone passed. The sound of the footsteps indicated it was either a female or a rather petite male.

There was so much input from all of his senses, it was beginning to give him a headache. He followed someone and sat in a chair, hearing the person exclaim to someone else "Hiya! I'm Neku, nice to meet ya!" There was the sound of something rustling against the chair...something like...a tail? Well, considering this was a school for the supernatural, he could hardly be surprised to find students with more appendages than usual. There were so many smells and sounds and feelings and ripples across space...Suddenly someone ran into his back, knocking his sunglasses off. His blueish-white unseeing eyes flashed and he leaned over, trying to find his shades. Where were they?

Skylar had been one of the kids that had been in the middle of the chaos. With this being his first year, he knew nobody and simply preferred to stay quiet. When the door opened, he was pushed inside by most of everyone else. Looking inside the auditorium, he marveled at its beauty before being pushed along farther. Immediately he became annoyed, but resisted the urge to jolt everyone around him.

Eventually, after getting tired of this chaos, Skylar danced through the crowd and managed to steal a decent seat around people who didn't even acknowledge his presence. Perfect. He thought to himself, sitting back in his chair and waiting for whatever was coming next.

The smile had long since turned into a grin. The feeling of other people growing more afraid was languid, something uncoiling and stretching inside of her - she wanted to stretch in real life, find everyone who she had scared and scare them more until she could feel their heart beat faster and know that they were frozen with what she inflicted. But no, doing so this early would draw attention, and she didn't want teachers on her back for going beyond what she usually did. So she just relaxed and closed her eyes, reveling in the knowledge that she was feared right now.

There was a spike, a brush against her skin like tangible smoke, and she opened her eyes to see someone sitting in front of her. How foolish of him - she guessed he was rather deeply affected by the proximity, and there was something about him that urged her onward. He was interesting. She could feel it, and she leaned forward, eyes boring into the back of his neck.

"This year is going to be fun," she said softly, and then more loudly, so he would hear her - "Hello, I'm Eris. What's your name?" Her eyes looked lighter than they had been a moment ago, almost a dark grey, and they danced with glee.

(OOC:Assuming Neku is talking to Nick...)
Nick looked at 'Neku,' his eyes a little wide. Tail? Tail? That's just freaky, even for... Well, I suppose there's freaky everywhere around me. "Aren't you the cheerful one?" He smiled a little. "Yeah, nice to meet you to. I'm Nick Sl-" he felt a breath on the back of his neck, and froze, the blood nearly draining from his face.

"This year is going to be fun," Softly, then, louder, "Hello, I'm Eris. What's your name?"

Nick gulped, then tried to think of something else. She's creepy, but so is the Shade. I've known the Shade since I was born, and it still seems creepy. She's no different. Retaining his composure, he replied, "I'm Nick. Uh, Sloan... Yeah, that's my last name, Sloan." Way to introduce yourself. You sound like James Bond with stutter.

Neku tilted his head a bit in a concerned way. Something was setting this kid off and he wanted to know if he was alright. "Is something wrong?" He asked Nick.

Scratching one of his cat-ears again, he looked around for something that could be making him uncomfortable, but that would be hard to do in a room full of people with special abilities, so he turned back to him. He wanted to help him a lot, but there wasn't much he could do.

Such an unceremonious din the other students were making! Malin frowned impatiently, wishing that the tutors would get on with things and call this induction to order. Literally, the idle prattle and attempts at conversation going on around the auditorium were painful to the self-proclaimed prince's delicate ears, and underneath the silken rag still hovering over his face there was the bulge of flared nostrils. His royal temper beginning to flare dangerously as he turned around, glowering up at the higher rows with the same air as is he were looking down on them, despite the physical impossibility of such a feat. To his eyes, they were trash. All of them. Delaying this introduction to what would be his deplorable excuse for a home over the next year. He wanted to get this inconvenient ritual over with as quickly as possible - so that he could perhaps retire to the room in which he would be staying. If the decor was anything like the rest of the building, then the standards might at least be tolerable, although he was eager to add his own personal touch to his accommodations as swiftly as possible. As a prince, he couldn't settle for anything less than a palace.

Removing the handkerchief from over his face, Malin examined it, half expecting to find that one side would have turned green from being in the same room as so many freakish peasants for even such a short period of time. To his genuine surprise, it wasn't, and irritated at being proven wrong, he narrowed his eyes and focused on the silk square. A golden frost beginning to spread from his fingertips, creeping along the surface like a flame, until the rag dangled petrified in his grasp. No longer fabric, but pure gold, 24 karat or Chuk Kam to use the Cantonese expression. At his command, the unusually-shaped strip of gold melted as Malin vibrated the bonds holding the individual molecules together with his mind, heating it up until it glowed amber like the sun. Blinking, he pondered what to do with it, since he was beginning to grow bored with this tiresome waiting.

"Is something wrong?"

Asked someone too loud for his liking. His gaze homing in like an eagle to the location of the offending speaker. His face twisting with disgust, he saw that the creature in question was an abomination of human and animal, a freak of nature, or an evolutionary offshoot, seated next to a boy who looked obviously disturbed. Little wonder - the sight of the woman sitting behind him enough to send shivers down Malin's spine from even this distance, striking him immediately as the most accurate real-life comparison to a witch he had ever seen in his life. The cat-creature appeared not to notice her somehow, making Malin's brow twist with confusion. Was he totally oblivious? Or immune to terror entirely? How else could he resist such eminent foreboding?

His attention turning back to the heated sphere of gold - Malin formed a clear mental image in his head. The gold twisting and re-shaping into the form of a golden butterfly, which flapped it's wings elegantly at his command. Reaching his arm up stealthily into the air, he willed the golden marionette to take flight, guiding the animated golden insect over to where the trio of commoners were making such noise. Cats were naturally distracted by shiny objects, so the prince recalled. Hopefully a distraction might shut them up long enough for this term to actually get started. The glittering creation fluttering through the air and hovering in a circle around the cat boy's head, tiny flecks of golden powder falling from it's wings with every stroke, glittering in the light like tiny stars.

Reggie stepped through the so-proclaimed hallowed halls of the famous Amityville high school of the Strange and Supernatural with as much awe as the brochure had promised. Here was a place where he might, no, would be accepted for who he is. How could this year possibly go wrong? He couldn't be mocked, hassled, or ridiculed for his differences. Perhaps, he could even be popular. Oh how wondrous that would be! Finally to be normal and even looked up to! Reggie was thinking these things, and was finally distracted by the headmaster (he assumed) when he began to speak.

Zeph's finger's finally found the sunglasses and he picked them up, rubbing them on his hsirt before sliding them back on, once again hiding his eyes. Curious...there was a strange rippling and twisting in the fabric of space, similar to what fire does. Some strange shape was being changed, twisted, molded into the shape of a butterfly...and it was sent flying through the air, flapping it's delicate wings. Zeph cocked his head in interest. It wasn't everyday that he witnessed this display of power. He held out his hand in the direction of the butterfly and sent imperceptible waves through the fabric of space, making the butterfly dip and soar through the air. He laughed softly. Anyone looking at him might wonder how he could see it, considering his head was bowed, not even looking in the direction of the gold insect. But he knew it was there regardless. He could sense it.

Neku saw the little butterfly... Much to his dismay. Despite wanting to help Nick, he couldn't resist that sparkling butterfly. No.. Must.. Stay..Focused. Nothing can stop me from my.. He took of right after that last thought. Totally oblivious of everyone, he took off down the row, bouncing off people's heads and seats.

The butterfly dipped down at one point, just enough for Neku to grab right out of the air. With that in his possession, he ran back to his seat and regained his composure, straightening his hair and ears, along with his long tail.

"Sorry 'bout that.. The cat inside me gets a little too big of a hold on me." He said to Nick with a nervous chuckle, filled with guilt after ditching him like that.

Waiting for everything to get started, she twisted her head around the beautiful room to see what the other students were doing. After all, they were just like her, although separated by different powers. Anya was carefully listening in to some conversations, but most of what they had to say didn't interest her. Droning out the voices, a glimpse of something shiny caught her eye. A boy in a seat near herself was making a golden butterfly and sending it into the air. She couldn't help but think the object was very pretty and noticed she was staring a bit too intently on it. She didn't want to look creepy by staring. Anya's dark eyes flickered back over to the boy, and she had to admit that his power was unlike anything she had seen before. Right then and there, she decided she had to say something to him.

"Excuse me," she began, flashing that almost never fading smile, "I just wanted to tell you that your power is very impressive." If nothing, it served as a good icebreaker. Then her head jerked over when hearing the commotion of a student, who had the features of a cat, grabbing the golden butterfly out of the air. She put her finger back to her lips, as if she were contemplating something, then shook her head, and turned back into the direction of the boy.

"Hello, Nick," she said cheerfully, eyes narrowed. "It's nice to meet you." The antics of those nearby were drawing her attention away from her target, though she was loath to relax what weak hold she had on him. Looking up, she spied a boy who had constructed a butterfly out of gold, and she rasied an eyebrow, purposefully sending a stronger wave outward to gauge his reaction. However, there was one more important - the cat-person that was being lured away by the golden insect. He hadn't had a reaction to what she had done at all - as if he couldn't sense it. That was an affront to her abilities. Her eyes grew lighter as she focused, regretfully pulling away all the feather-light touches on her skin, the smoky taste in her mouth of fear, and focused on the cat-boy, waiting for the flicker of unease, the flutter of his heartbeat, waited for him to know what it was like to be prey.

She was staring, but she didn't need eye contact for it. Still focusing, she looked away at the girl who had approached the gold boy, and she smirked at them. "The place is rather crowded," she murmured mockingly. "So many people, with so many powers. Which one is yours, Nick?" There was genuine interest - there was something with him that tugged at her, more tantalizing than the shadowy lure of fear or terror that she constantly breathed in. "I can tell you mine first, if you like - but maybe you've already guessed it?"

The teachers were still silent, still preparing to speak, and she was quite enjoying her romp through her new hunting grounds. So many victims to choose from~
