The CoD Monotype Challenge

Eonrider's Exotic Garden
and
Eonrider's Flea Market
Please be aware that none of the Pokemon shown are actually for sale.

I've just cleared the rockets and demolished Sabrina. I'm using an emulator, because I don't have the heart to restart any of my other games. So I can't get a Scizor. Oh well, it's not like Scyther's actually that bad.

Now, the Garden. And intoducing my two newest members!

I'm in Fortree City, struggling to beat Winnoa. I'm so desperate, I even taught my Grovyle Rock Tomb. MOTHERF*CKING SKARMORY! On a side note, I found a Leaf Stone. So, who should I evolve? Shift or Rafael? Rafael or Shift?

^Whoops, that was supposed to be Stun Spore actually. Don't ask how I got them mixed up, because I don't either. Now, help with Winnoa? Also, I was just looking at my Scyther sprite. Scyther Its left arm is broken.
EDIT: Never mind. I just beat her. :D Hooray for fluke! Start: Swellow vs Tropius (Banana) Banana used Fly and managed to get Swellow to red health, only to have Winnoa use a Hyper Potion. Long story short, Nuzleaf used Fake Out. In the end, I had Lileep vs a Leech Seeded Skarmory and a Full Health Altaria. Ingrain helped to survive, Confuse Ray was my mian form of damage, and Acid was my main attacking move, except for Skarmory, when I was forced to use Constrict. So teaching Grovyle Rock Tomb didn't actually do much good at all. Now a question. I found a Leaf Stone. Who should I use it on, Gloom or Nuzleaf?

Quick Claw (funny how a cat is apparently slower than a cow.)

Whitney and Morty down.

Whitney was straightforward. I was prepared for Miltank's Rollout, so I sent out Furret against Clefairy, used Defense Curl six times, and took down Clefairy. Damn cow still took me down once. Stupid Milk Drink. Second attempt went better, though.

Bought TMs for fire/thunder/ice punch. Not sure if I'll need fire, but I'm prepared if I do.

Went to Route 38. Caught a Miltank. Caught a Meowth. Got them to level 18 on Route 37.

Ecruteak's gym was surprisingly hilarious. Normal types are immune to ghost type moves, so the only thing they could do to hurt me was Curse. Which I really didn't mind, since it let me kill them about twice as fast. I only used Miltank and Meowth in the gym, since they need the experience most. And Meowth's Bite is effective against ghosts, anyway.

I can already tell that Lance is going to be funny. A big fat cow punching down Dragonite after Dragonite? Yes please.

I'm gonna try a Mono for HGSS. I'm using a ROM, but once I get the game I might switch types. For this playthrough, I'll use Grass!

My Team Thus Far:
ChiChi Chikorita
Level 5
19/19 HP
Sassy
Tackle
Growl

Well it seems I haven't done much with Emerald for nearly a year (come to think of it I haven't been on TCoD in nearly as long), so here's the previous team as a reminder/introduction for those who haven't seen it before:

swampert
Kip, Male, Level 54
Return/Earthquake/Brick Break/Foresight

Ludicolo
Lily, Female, Level 53
Surf/Nature Power/Giga Drain/Rain Dance

Starmie
Peach, Genderless, Level 53
Surf/Thunderbolt/Ice Beam/Psychic

Sharpedo
Bruce, Male, Level 53
Surf/Crunch/Slash/Swagger

Kingdra
Sid, Male, Level 53
Surf/Dragonbreath/Ice Beam/Agility

Since then I've finished the pokédex and mostly been cloning stuff for Diamond, although I haven't played the game since September.

Anyway, after a some minor training use of the team for miscellaneous things I decided to give a clone of Kyogre a new move set and go find Steven. It went probably about as well as I expected, since I only needed Kyogre for Cradily and Metagross. In hindsight I think I could have played it better though. Anyway, I won, so I guess it's finished. I'd defiantly do another Monotype, although I don't have any games I don't want to keep at the moment.

Final team, post Steven:
swampert
Kip, Male, Level 55
Return/Earthquake/Brick Break/Foresight

Ludicolo
Lily, Female, Level 55
Surf/Nature Power/Giga Drain/Rain Dance

Starmie
Peach, Genderless, Level 56
Surf/Thunderbolt/Ice Beam/Psychic

Sharpedo
Bruce, Male, Level 55
Crunch/Slash/Swagger/Waterfall (To reach Steven, will be swapped back to surf whenever)

Kingdra
Sid, Male, Level 56
Surf/Dragonbreath/Ice Beam/Agility

Kyogre
Kyogre, Genderless, Level 70
Surf/Calm Mind/Ice Beam/Thunder

I've been thinking about monotyping for a while. I've decided I'm probably gonna do it in two different games :O. I'll be monotyping FireRed with Poison and Diamond with Water.

When I feel like it.

Well, it would seem I am not exactly doing too well on my Flying Monotype, (I got bored) but I feel I'd be more successful at a Ground Monotype (In Platinum!)!

So, here goes...
+Flarginsnarf's Ground Beef!+
(I gotta work on the title.)

And I am aiming to complete this Monotype!

Oh, I forgot about Floaroma Town being in the way, but it didn't slow me down. Beat Gardenia quite easily thanks to Kurmaraja!

Now I need to find a Gible...

Started a bug monotype on SoulSilver. Currently at the head monk in Sprout Tower.

Weedle (F) Lv 13
- Poison Sting
- String Shot

... yeah.

--

And, three days later, I'm discovering that bugs are not that good at slashing up the dragons.

After a few hours (!) of level grinding and finally beating Clair:

[Sanguine] Beedrill (F) Lv40

[Margarine] Butterfree (F) Lv40

[Psilocybin] Parasect (F) Lv40

[Shellshock] Forretress (M) Lv40

[Vice] Pinsir (M) Lv40

[Reaver] Scyther (M) Lv45
It was around this point I realised my scyther had swarm this whole time. Gah.

(I cheated with the dates to condense the Bug Catching Contest thing.)

Yep starting a Poison mono on FireRed. BECAUSE I CAN.

My projected team:

Venusaur Venomoth Gengar Tentacruel Nidoking Muk

Minus Venusaur, all of these are Pokemon I have never used before, so I think this should be interesting. In the choice between Nidoking and 'queen I chose 'king cuz I ALWAYS use 'queen and I decided to just go with the whole "Dude's I haven't used before" theme.

Gengar is extremely hopeful and will probably just be a Haunter cuz I don't know anyone to trade with :<

I started a while ago, but stopped immediately after getting my starter.

Name: Theo (a play on Theobromine, which is the poisonous to dogs part of chocolate)

Dudes

Bulbasaur
Zelda level 6

I got a girl starter. :3 Never had one before.

ONWARD. Or whatever.

I finished my Sapphire water monotype. It was a bit too easy, so I decided to do a Fighting monotype in Japanese Pearl. Here it is:

Anubi (Lucario), Mild Nature
Aura Sphere, Dragon Pulse, Swords Dance, Extremespeed

Because mixed attackers are useful ingame and I just couldn't pass up the Swords Dance + Extremespeed combo.

Scaro (Heracross), Hasty Nature
Aerial Ace, Megahorn, Close Combat, Swords Dance

Heracross is a blast to train. I think I will train one competitively.

Ignis (Infernape), Jolly Nature
Close Combat, Flare Blitz, Earthquake, Rock Climb

Rock Climb is there because I ran out of HM slaves. Bit of a suicide bomber.

Rana (Toxicroak), Naughty Nature
Sucker Punch, Poison Jab, Mud Bomb, Brick Break

So I take the best Fighting types in OU for most of my team and now Toxicroak? Yes, he's a little underpowered compared to the others, but Sucker Punch will at least give me a fighting (no pun intended) chance against Lucian.

Only four members and a Lucky Egg being passed around means they're overleveled, around level 47 at the moment. HM slaves Bibarel and Pelipper take up the last two slots. I really like this team, and may duplicate some of the members more competitively. As for the nicknames: Anubi is short for Anubis, Egyptian god of the dead; Scaro is from the Latin word scarabus, meaning beetle; Ignis is the Latin word for fire; and Rana is Latin for frog.

Been doing flying on Sapphire. Rival's Grovyle went down to one Wing Attack (I wish we could rename moves, then Stormwind would have Win Attack not Wing Attack)

Name: May (My pal thought it would be funny to make me do it as a girl, but I got some amazing natures on Ninja and Wionna though, so didn't restart)
Badges: Stone-Knuckle

Team:

Swellow: "Stormwind"
Level: 23

Peck
Wing Attack (More like Win Attack, but whatever)
Double Team
Quick Attack

Nincada: "Ninja"
Level: 15

Cut
Flash
Leech Life
Fury Swipes

Zubat: "Delta"
Level: 15

Leech Life
Supersonic
Astonish

Wingull: "Wionna"
Level: 15

Water Gun
Wing Attack
Supersonic
Steel Wing

I always teach Wingull Steel Wing, since no-one else has an empty move-space planned and Skarmory learns it naturally

I'm training my team (Minus Stormwind, who's overleveled compared to his teammates)

Trying to get everyone to 28 before Flannery, makes Norman so much easier.
