[15] JackPK vs Ether's Bane (ref: Keldeo)

Eifie

oh man, good times.
Pronoun

1 vs 1
DQ: 7 days
Damage Cap: 35%
Banned/Restricted Moves: OHKOs, Pain Split, Perish Song, moves that KO the user; direct recovery is restricted to 1 use in the match, and Chills are restricted to 7 uses
Arena: Laverre City Gym

Fittingly located more or less at the center of the town, the building, seeming almost at one with the natural implements around it, fits the city's landscape that resembles a fantasy world. It may seem bigger from the inside, where its rooms, rowed and stacked neatly in a 3x3 arrangement with no doors or stairs to interlink them, give it the appearance of a dollhouse. To get by, special tiles on the ground are used; when stepped on, they envelop those above them in a soft glow, then warps them to another similar tile in another room. Naturally, making passageways of the walls, floors and ceilings is fair game (fairy game, even). The indoors battlefield is usually not affected by weather-changing moves, and nor are there bodies of water or other natural implements required for some kinds of attack (although one of the rooms does support moves that require bodies of water).

The various rooms can impact battle differently as Pokémon reach them. Moving to a different room can be done by taking an action to step on a teleport panel, which will immediately warp both Pokémon in play. As the rooms that can be teleported to from each room will be listed, the trainers can specify which room their Pokémon will attempt to warp to. The room to teleport into will be chosen randomly if not specified, or if the room that the Pokémon was ordered to warp to cannot be reached from their current room (which may happen if the Pokémon is teleported to another room before they can execute their own warping command). Of course, some Pokémon may be able to reach across rooms by more... direct means; in that event, the opponent will still most likely end up in the same room, without expending an action, as they will naturally chase their enemy, although it's possible for the battlers to end up in different rooms if one is ordered not to follow, or if one cannot follow. Even in these circumstances, both Pokémon will be teleported to the same room if a warp panel is activated.

The following are descriptions of the rooms, as well as their effects:
  • Entrance Hall - A plain room, laid in marble with golden patterns. It's the first room visitors see. The battle will begin here, and no particular arena effects come from being in it.
  • Living Room - A cozy living room with a wonderful fireplace and a nifty coffee table. Furisode Girl Kali can often be found lounging on this room's cushy couch and usually enjoys company, such that the first Pokémon to Chill during a given action will regain 5% more Energy by resting alongside the Gym Trainer. If a Pokémon is attacked while Chilling that way, however, Kali will grow tired of the disruptions to her break and not only cease to extend this benefit from then onwards, but also, have her Dedenne fire a Discharge at both battlers.
  • Fashion Studio - A room designed for work, although it's still as elegant as any other in the house. The table at its center is outfitted with a sewing machine and there are many other tools and materials of the fashionista's trade in the vicinity, most stashed in the endless cabinets along the walls, and even several manuals with valuable information of the art. By spending two actions in this room, a battling Pokémon can craft itself an useful accessory to gain any one Ability that the trainer chooses, barring Illusion, Imposter, Moody, Multitype, Protean, Stance Change, Wonder Guard, or Zen Mode. Note that being teleported out of the room will prevent the Pokémon from completing their work and may cause them to waste actions in the new room, and even if they've made some progress and were then interrupted, they must always start crafting from scratch. No battler can successfully craft an Ability-granting accessory more than once.
  • Study - A room with countless bookshelves on the back wall and an ebony desk at the center, inviting people to lengthy dates with literature. Frugal and underdecorated, the room almost forces one to focus on reading. Furisode Girl Linnea is often found dilligently studying here, with her Aromatisse nearby to increase her focus further with its fragances -- as such, all Pokémon in this room are considered to be under effects of a friendly Aroma Veil.
  • Bathroom - A surprisingly well-decorated facility, arrayed in soothing, pure tones of light blue, white, and seagreen. It features a bathtub with ornate legs and flanking curtains, and even the sink and the toilet are hewn into gallant shapes and colors. Moves requiring a nearby body of water can be used here. Additionally, by expending an action while in this room, a Pokémon can use the sanitary facilities or the medicine cabinet in order to heal itself off exactly one status condition that has been inflicted upon them. This can be done as many times as desired, although each instance requires a separate action.
  • Kitchen - In this Gym, even the food cabinets, oven, stove, and other such installations feature elegant design, of black and gold make. A dining table is at the center, with ornate tableware all over. Furisode Girl Blossom will happily serve the hungry battlers that pass by, such that any Pokémon that enters this room with no held item will gain a randomly chosen Berry.
  • Dressing Room - Simple as though its purpose may be, this room delivers thorougly, with a closet sized and sturdy enough to withstand an explosion, as well a full-body mirror and a vanity mirror. While in this room, a Pokémon can take an action help itself to a fashionable outfit of Valerie's design, allowing it to replace one of its existing types with a type of the trainer's choice. As these clothes aren't made for battle, being struck by a measely two damaging attacks will destroy the garments, ending their effects. Clothes can be taken from this room as often as the battlers would like, although only one outfit can be worn at a time, and they can also be shed with no action cost (although putting them back on does cost an action).
  • Bedroom - Dimly lit and very thorougly adorned in deep purple curtains, this room ensures comfortable sleep to anyone who doesn't fear the dark. The curtains and the low lighting help Pokémon to avoid moves, such that any battler in this room is considered to have +2 Evasion. Beware of making noise in this room -- Furisode Girl Katherine is taking a nap in the cushy canopied bed, and those who interrupt her beauty sleep will suffer the wrath of her Slurpuff, who will rain randomly chosen super-effective attacks from its movepool on all battlers (Hidden Power of a randomly chosen super-effective type is used against any Pokémon that Slurpuff has no super-effective moves to use against) for three actions (this damage ignores the damage cap). Exiting the room will end the rampage sooner, although Katherine will also get back to sleep, making it possible to entice her fury yet again in the future.
  • Valerie's Room - The most important of the lot: the spot where Gym Leader Valerie normaly holds battles. It's largely void of objects, with decoration going mostly on the floor and walls. An exotic wavelike pattern is recurrent in the room's design, as are iridescent tones of purple. Pokémon in this room are considered to be under effects of the Fairy Aura ability, and the base power of Dazzling Gleam, Valerie's prized TM move, is considered 10% instead of 8%.
The following are the rooms that the teleporters on each room can lead to, as well as the rooms that are adjacent to each room, for reference when, one way or another, attempting to move through rooms:
  • Entrance Hall: Can teleport to Living Room or Fashion Studio. Has the Fashion Studio to the left, the Study to the right, and the Living Room above.
  • Living Room: Can teleport to Entrance Hall, Fashion Studio, or Study. Has the Kitchen to the left, the Bathroom to the right, the Entrance Hall below, and Valerie's Room above.

  • Study: Can teleport to Living Room, Bathroom, or Kitchen. Has the Entrance Hall to the left and the Bathroom above.
  • Bathroom: Can teleport to Fashion Studio, Study, or Dressing Room. Has the Living Room to the left, the Study below, and the Bedroom above.
  • Kitchen: Can teleport to Study, Dressing Room, or Bathroom. Has the Living Room to the right, the Fashion Studio below, and the Dressing Room above.
  • Dressing Room: Can teleport to Kitchen or Bathroom. Has Valerie's Room to the right and the Kitchen below.
  • Bedroom: Can teleport to Kitchen or Valerie's Room. Has Valerie's Room to the left and the Bathroom below.

I wasn't sure where to post this, but if it helps either of you plan or choose your rental or anything, I've made a (highly simplified) diagram of the arena. Also, would either of you mind if I wrote the reffings in a sports commentary style, like this?

And I'll pick Azumarill. Her nickname will be Usagi.

Okay, Usagi, we're gonna start this fight by going on the offensive! Start with a Belly Drum. After that, your default commands are two Iron Tails. But if she goes into another room, follow her, and under any other conditions in which you can't hit her (other than a Substitute), use Defense Curl. Also use Defense Curl if she is using Bide. If she has a Substitute up, revert back to Iron Tail.

Belly Drum ~ Iron Tail/Defense Curl/follow her into another room x2

Keldeo, whatever kind of reffing style you want to do is totally fine with me. :)

"Aaaaand we're back from our sponsors to take another all-new, all-exclusive look at the tournament going on in Kalos. I hope y'all stayed awake during that one, listeners, because the action here is boiling to a fever pitch!"

"Right on, Barry. I use DRAG personally and highly recommend you try them. Really great product, had no complaints whatsoever, and it just works amazingly. You will never, and I mean never, want to try any other brand, that's how well it performs. Everything they sell comes with a one-year guarantee too, for all your—"

"Er, anyways, thank you all again for tuning in to Asber Channel Five. As always, I'm Barry."

"And I'm Bob."

"And this is Live Tournament Coverage with Barry and Bob!"

"In this exciting episode, we'll be covering one of only two second-late-bracket battles, JackPK versus Ether's Bane."

"This match is taking place in Kalos Leader Valerie's Gym, which features a unique dollhouse setup and many, many warp panels, to the utter dread of trainers everywhere. The rental Pokemon being used in this battle are all Fairy type and all have their exclusive Dream World abilities. And last but certainly not least, they're all fully battle-trained, so we can expect some hot action from this one! Bob, would you care to introduce the trainers?"

"Right on, Barry! In the blue corner, it's JackPK, a veteran who took a leave of absence but is now back and more than ready to roll. He's chosen Azumarill as his rental Pokemon."

"Don't be fooled by this rabbit Pokemon's cute, cuddly appearance. Once Azumarill get going, they pack a very literal punch, and their well-developed ears and camouflaging belly patterns let them stay safe while sniffing out the most stealthy opponents even from underwater! Usagi here has her Sap Sipper hidden ability and a Wacan Berry, which our more battle-wise listeners will recognize as the resistance-increasing berry for Electric type moves, so her only weakness for now is Poison. It'll be interesting to see how JackPK's opponent gets around that!"

"Speaking of JackPK's opponent… in the other blue corner, it's Ether's Bane, well-known for his maintenance of the ASB leaderboard and simple but effective command sets. His rental Pokemon for this match is Sylveon. How does the Intertwining Pokemon fare in battle, Barry?"

"To be honest, Bob, Sylveon is another one where looks are very, very deceiving. Have you ever wondered about the battle application of Sylveon's ribbons, which are well-known for their empathetic properties and, of course, beauty? Well, Sylveon trained for battle can tangle opponents up in 'em too—talk about stringing someone along! Sylveon are tanks at the best of times, and don't get me started on this one's Pixilate hidden ability, especially with that Fairy Gem of hers. With just those two assets and her innate boost, her STAB attacks will have their power boosted to nearly double!"

"Right on. Whether Ether's Bane's going to pull those out as a trump card later in the match or get offensive from the get-go, we can only wonder! I'm Bob."

"And I'm Barry. And the action is starting right here, right now, listeners, exclusive to Asber Channel Five!"

Round 1

"The battle's starting, Barry, and it doesn't look like it's going to disappoint. Especially in a tournament battle, round one is always the most charged. The trainers both get started in their own ways and adapt to their opponents' strategies, and I don't think this one will be any different! Ether's Bane and Sylveon will be moving first by the narrow margin of 10 speed points—and we're right on time, since Sylveon's taking her first action live right now. What will it be?!"

"Based on the area's energy readings, it doesn't look like the other blue corner's going to start with a Fairy move. Ether's Bane seems to be playing it safe by having Sylveon go for a more indirect technique."

"And it looks like she's building up a mental charge, set for release in three, two, one, and…!"

"…"

"…Zero visible effect. Check the commands, could it have been Calm Mind? Stored Power?"

"No, no, Bob. See Usagi holding her head over there? It doesn't have the most obvious of effects, but I'm betting Sylveon just used the most immediately powerful Psychic attack in her arsenal, Synchronoise—and yep, Ether's Bane's command set confirms that. For our less battle-wise listeners, Synchronoise emits a devastating wave of Psychic interference, causing splitting headaches, severe distress, and a sensation described quite concisely as 'mental food processor' for everyone within its wide, wide area of effect. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your point of view, it only affects Pokemon of the user's type and its effects don't last very long, so Usagi's the only one hurt here—but she sure is hurt!"

"She sure is, Barry, she sure is. And get this, the outraged Aqua Rabbit's going for an attack here. With an arm charged with Normal energy, she runs towards Sylveon, leaps into an offensive position, aaaand… socks herself in the gut!? One, two, three, and that's a total of four hits to herself!"

"What a development! Listeners, the attack you've just heard Bob so eloquently describe is known as Belly Drum, and it's one of Azumarill's most feared set-up techniques for good reason. Usagi's just sacrificed a portion of her own health—a sacrifice in addition to the damage she sustained from Synchronoise earlier—but her physical attack power is now maximized! It looks like JackPK's going for the throat immediately, but at what cost?!"

"Ether's Bane looks to be keenly aware of that, Barry. After seeing her opponent's move, Sylveon's getting to work straight away, setting up the foundations for an energy shield. My money's on Magic Coat, maybe, or Reflect."

"Well, we'll see when she finishes—aaaaand there! Unfortunately, Bob, you're zero for two there. The dome she's made is green and almost transparent, not rainbow or pink: the hallmarks of a good stable Protect dome. Looks like Sylveon's in it to win it defensively, by minimizing the damage she takes this action."

"But that protection is at the price of a hefty chunk of energy if her opponent does go for an attack…"

"No, it looks like JackPK has got a contingency for this exact situation. Despite her obvious pep, Usagi's not making any moves for her shielded opponent, instead curling into a tight ball as her trainer's ordered. Contrary to popular belief, listeners, the position the user takes in the Defense Curl technique is indeed quite defensible, but it's not the entire reason for the move's effectiveness. Usagi here will maintain that ball until she's forced out of it, and by then she'll have made small contact-activated domes of her own to protect her weaker points."

"Sylveon looks a little annoyed at that, eh, Barry?"

"Yep, her shield's just come down, granting her a full view of her opponent's display... aaaaand the third and final action of this so-far-action-packed round is taking place live right now. The shield goes down, and she's running a beeline straight towards her opponent—no, not her opponent! You heard it here, folks, the first warp panel activation of the second late bracket has just taken place. While Usagi's getting her bearings in the new location, would you care to fill us in, Bob?"

"You bet! The battle has just moved, a touch more nauseatingly than if it'd been by normal means of transportation if I do say so myself, to the Fashion Studio. In this room of the Gym, Pokemon can create cute accessories imbued with a certain skill or property, granting them the effects of an ability! Looking around, there's heaps of thread and cloth in every color and even a sewing machine over there, and no doubt the wall-to-wall cabinets all around have more of that!"

"It's really a designer's dream, Bob, and it'll be exciting to see what the battlers make of their new surroundings."

"Right on, Barry, right on. And Usagi looks to be moving again. Her tail's glowing white, and I'll be darned if I don't get at least one move prediction right—is it an Iron Tail?"

"It might just be! JackPK's really riding the odds here, if it whiffs it's a total loss, but if it hits it will hit hard. Looks to me like it'll go a little wide, though—and there's the signature leap-and-swing, and oh! The attack is good, and my money's on that there even being a critical hit. Bob, did you see that!"

"If by 'that' you mean Usagi's tail hitting Sylveon like a freight train on steroids? Yes I did, Barry, yes I did."

"And that's all for the round; Usagi's been beaten down a little, but there's still fight in her yet. Across the room, everyone's favorite ribbon cat is currently flat on her back, a clean scar on her chest from Usagi's critical Iron Tail, which I think may also have lowered her defenses slightly… Other than that, the damage from Usagi's Belly Drum and Sylveon's Synchronoise have evened the odds in Sylveon's favor, and the two are currently near-tied for both health and energy."

"If you want my opinion, Barry, this battle will probably be close the whole way! If Usagi gets in another few hits like that, the battle'll be a triviality for the blue corner, but if Iron Tail's hit chance ends up letting them down or the other blue corner pulls out their Fairy Gem, STAB, Pixilate-boosted trump card, literally or not..."

"Er, anyways. That's all for this exciting, all-live episode of Live Tournament Coverage with Barry and Bob, exclusive to Asber Channel Five! I'm Barry."

"And I'm Bob."

"And this is Live Tournament Coverage with Barry and Bob! Up next, listeners, another exclusive look at a tournament battle, but before that, here's a message from our sponsors. Did you know that DRAG, on Flyc Ave., is the world's only…"

Reflect, or Protect if she uses a damaging move. Then, Swagger, or a 15% Substitute if she Protects or can't be hit. Finally, Synchronoise, or Protect if she uses any damaging move.

Reflect/Protect ~ Swagger/Substitute (15%) ~ Synchronoise/Protect

Start with a Light Screen, then Brick Break away that Reflect. Finally, wait for Synchronoise and then give it an Encore to prevent Sylveon from playing any more tricks next round.

"And that's all from our sponsors this time. Thank you all for tuning in to Asber Channel Five for this new, exclusive, live look at the Kalos tournament, et cetera, et cetera. In this episode we're back to JackPK versus Ether's Bane, taking place in the Laverre City Gym! If you need a refresher, listeners, this is one of two late bracket battles, featuring Usagi the Azumarill and Sylveon the Sylveon, which has only recently moved to the Fashion Studio! Aaaas always, I'm Barry."

"This battle is gearing up for round two already. The commands have been given and the Pokemon are hopping to continue, literally in Usagi's case!"

But the round is just about to begin, Bob, and we'll be taking a live look at it, right here, right now! Round 2

"And they're starting! Right here, right now. Barry, Sylveon's watching her opponent carefully, while Usagi confidently leaps into action, forming what looks like the second protective shield of the battle. It's not a dome this time, though, it's more like a screen…"

"And she's glowing pink, meaning that shield is a Light Screen, which will disperse energy attacks aimed at it! Looks like JackPK wants to avoid the devastating Synchronoises of the previous round."

"And now Sylveon's getting to work too, creating yet another pink shield."

"This one looks like it's a Reflect—"

"—see, I was right last time!"

"Er, anyways, Reflect shields speed down all objects passing through, which greatly reduces the efficaciousness of physical attacks. A smart maneuver for Ether's Bane, given that Usagi used Belly Drum last round. Now, all her boosts will effectively be halved, at least until that shield fades."

"Right on, Barry, but keep in mind that both Reflect and Light Screen drain their users' energy. We'll see how long these Fairies can hold out, but it's just something to think over in case this turns into a battle of attrition. But all the energy draining in the world won't save Usagi from a move that doesn't damage specially, or even at all."

"Case in point: Sylveon seems to be going for a Swagger right now, all accusations and boasts complete with a sassy ear-flick and tail-swish (most seem to be about the status of their screens, and currying favor with the—what was that? oh, the Furisode Girls—it's hard to remember sometimes that these Pokemon are rentals from the Gym, with the bond they've already formed with their Trainers!) If you're wondering, listeners, the purpose of such a strange move is to rile up her opponent so much that the Azumarill will make more reckless moves."

"And the Attack boost that normally comes with this move won't be happening, Barry, since Usagi's physical power is already maxed out from the Belly Drum. Her self-attacks will definitely be hurting because of that, though."

"It remains to be seen whether those are good things or bad, but for the moment it looks very, very, bad—for JackPK, that is. Usagi's barreling right at Sylveon, anger apparent on her face, but the Intertwining Pokemon dodges like it's nothing, and the Azumarill ends up smashing her face straight into the wall, all her momentum's working totally against her. Talk about ouch!"

"Right on, Barry. And Sylveon's now making her next move, opening her mouth wide toooooooooookkkkkkkkkchhhhhttzzzszszszzzDRAG! Daybreak works for everyone and compromises for no one. DRoi, NOT te Patria lift. That's pafroi, NOT te Patria lift. RemembeALL NEW series premiering ON Sunday RIGHT herenext up an original swing/skzzztmix byXISTENTIAL CRISISES. "Er-hem! Sorry about that, listeners, technical difficulties caused by a direct hit Synchronoise."

"The destructive potential of that maneuver is truly a sight to behold, Barry: messes up machinery, but doesn't even make a differently-typed Pokemon (or people, for that matter) flinch! Sylveon does not even have STAB on this move, and Usagi's still holding her ears—even with the Light Screen halving the amount of energy that passes through to her! A freight train of an attack, to be sure."

"Do you remember when I talked about Azumarill's extremely sensitive ears? It looks like those are actually working against her this time. We've still definitely got two heavy hitters here, no matter the circumstances."

"It looks like she's recovered, though, but what she's doing right now is anyone's guess. Screaming back at Sylveon? Do Azumarill even learn Synchronoise?"

"No, they don't. It looks like what she's doing is encouraging Sylveon by imitation—"

"—encouraging? She wants to get hit with more of that?!"

"As you say, Bob, 'right on.' With this tactic, Sylveon won't be able to pull anything out of her amazing support movepool next round, instead opting for the raw-damage method."

"And is it? Yes, that's the end of the round and the flags are coming on down. We're nearing the end of this exciting episode, so let's take a look at the battlers' status. Barry?"

"Usagi and Sylveon are around tied with regards to energy levels and whether they have a screen up or not. With regards to the other attributes, the Aqua Rabbit's got more boosts, but Usagi's health is much lower and she's still acting recklessly, it seems. It looks like her failure to actually hit her opponent in the middle there really cost them."

"But keep in mind JackPK's pulled the handy Encore trick, limiting the options Ether's Bane has next round."

"We'll see what that brings us when it comes, Bob, but it sure will be action-packed."

"And you do mean packed?"

"I do mean packed. That's it for this all-new, all-live, all-exciting episode of Live Tournament Coverage with Barry and Bob, listeners! I'm Barry."

"Well, Bob, note that both battlers have gotten screens up for their opponent's respective avenues of attack and the damage cap in this battle is as low as they come considering it's a tournament match, and so it does remain to be seen if and when these trainers will turn the match around."

"Personally, Barry, I'm crossing my fingers for a triple double-twist. We haven't seen action of that kind since, what, that time the Sentret did that thing with the Charizard—you do remember that one, right?"

"Er, anyways, the action seems to be starting right here, right now, listeners, and we'll be covering it all!"

Round 3

"Aaaand the flags have come down and the Pokemon are in motion… well, they will be soon if the commands reveal anything about the round to come. Sylveon is, as expected, as Encored, and as ordered, preparing for another Synchronoise."

"Looks like she's adding some variety here with a beam-type attack, Barry, firing in three, two, and bam!"

"Not as much sheer force as the previous times, however, due to Usagi's Light Screen. A skilled observer might notice the faint shimmering caused when it absorbs some of the power from energy attacks, though the user of the move still must expend some energy to maintain it in return."

"Somewhat of a conundrum, that—eh, Barry?"

"Well, yes, technically it merely disperses the energy, weakening the attack by a great deal and producing the same effect as an absorptive shield in practice. Oh, and speaking of screens, Usagi's charging up to Sylveon's own screen, and the hit is good!"

"WHAM! POW! WHACK! BAM!"

"Well, yes! A four-punch combo, disrupting her concentration and the energy keeping the Reflect in place enough for it to shatter completely."

"And you have to admit, the WHAM! POW! WHACK! BAM! did some damage besides, even though the Fairy type resists Fighting moves, in no small part thanks to Usagi's ludicrous power-ups from the last round."

"Note that this damage is, contrary to popular belief, not in fact with the Reflect's dampening effect applied, because the shield's shattered before Usagi even got there."

"WHAM! POW! WHACK! BAM! indeed."

"An eloquent description of what both battlers seem to be doing to each other this time around, Bob! Surprisingly, Usagi seems to have shaken off most of her anger—see there, her hits display none of the reckless one would expect a Pokemon recently targeted by the Swagger technique to have. This goes doubly for the other team, though it remains to be seen whose favor that goes in: despite the momentary inconvenience posed by that Brick Break, Sylveon's Encore is still going strong. She bellows out another Synchronoise, loud as ever… though, of course, made less loud by the continued presence of Usagi's Light Screen."

"Hrmph, not as much WHAM! POW! WHACK! BAM! this time around."

"I do think you'll be pleased by what Usagi seems to be readying right now, though, Bob."

"Wait, let me guess this one. Going by her gestures and such, it involves the tail as at least a major part of the attack, and she seems to be building up elemental energy—Aqua Tail, I'd say, or maybe Iron Tail—no, it's more silver than blue, so it must be the latter."

"Aaaand looks like you're right on the money, Bob! A leap into the air, and then WHAM!"

"You forgot the POW! WHACK! BAM! And if I was to guess, I'd say Sylveon has taken all the damage she can this round."

"For listeners who aren't as brushed up on the league's rules, this would be due to the league-enforced 'damage caps', expressed in terms of the percentage of their full health each Pokemon has left, which prevents taking ludicrous amounts of damage from moves like Sheer Cold, for instance. Looking at Sylveon's health percentage so far, though, it doesn't look like that's the case—though only by one percentage point."

"My prediction ability is improving!"

"Well, it's not as good as the Future Sight technique, which Sylveon seems to be pre… oh, no, it's another Synchronoise. And Usagi heads back up for another round of, er, WHAM! POW! WHACK! BAM! Iron Tail number two definitely made Sylveon hit the cap, there."

"Right on, Barry! Though you need more practice with the WHACK! You've really got to get the ack sound going, like this: WHACK! Not WHACK! like you were doing, WHACK! It's all about the ack, Barry, all about the ack."

"Well, that's all for the round, and for this exciting, all-live episode of Live Tournament Coverage with Barry and Bob. I'm Back—er, I mean, I'm Barry."

"And I'm Bob."

"And up next is not a message from our sponsors, but the second part of this special surprise double episode! We apologize if you were hoping for the newest DRAG advertisement, I hear it features a sunburned camel and some sort of water gecko."

"Water snake, Barry, water snake. Wake, for short. Rhymes a bit with WHACK!"

"Yes, ah, er, 'wake'. Anyways, this time around we'll be taking a look at the other late bracket battle, where first-round elimination Dazel has just taken Barubu's place against Lord of the Fireflies…"

Action Notes
-reiterating from my other tournament battle that I'm sorry this round is so late, and I won't have much time to ref next week either so you can take your time with commands.
-Usagi's confusion and Light Screen, as well as Sylveon's Encore, faded at the end of the round. Reflect was shattered by Brick Break on the first action.
-Sylveon hit the cap on the third action.

Usagi: 58 - 6 (Synchronoise) - 6 (Synchronoise) - 6 (Synchronoise) = 40
78 - 4 (Brick Break) - 6 (Iron Tail) - 6 (Iron Tail) - 3 (upkeep) = 59
Sylveon: 71 - 9 (Brick Break) - 25 (Iron Tail) - 25 (Iron Tail) = 36 (capped)
78 - 7 (Synchronoise) - 7 (Synchronoise) - 7 (Synchronoise) = 57
Ether's Bane commands next.

It's been over a day, so Ether's Bane is DQed. JackPK gets $25 for winning and advances to the next round of the tournament, and I get $22 for reffing. Since this was a rental battle, no experience prizes are awarded, and we'll have to claim this money in the bank as per this post.
