Ahh, Generic Meadows... where the surroundings are lush, green and suitably nondescript. A rolling green plain replete with a pond large enough to comfortably contain a Wailord. There are no trees, no shrubs and no chance of anything unique or original being found here. ;)

Alrighty, guess I'll go with Tomas. Funtimes with electricity, no? (Tomas has the Attribute Mod Blue-Eyed Blind, which was approved a while ago, but I think got lost in the shuffle. Approval link here; details here:

Signature Attribute: Blue-Eyed Blind

Trainers like shiny Pokemon. This much is clear: whether from the slightly boosted stats or merely their rarity, alternative colored battle friends are in demand. Breeders constantly try for a shiny stock, or at least increased odds that they won't always end up with "normal" stock. Some are less scrupulous than others, breeding family trees so closely they better resemble sticks, supplemented with high-statted Dittos.

Tomas comes from one such breeder, fortunately shut down since. Due to inbreeding and the psudo-cloning caused by Ditto overuse, he inherited enough faulty, recessive genes to cause him to be blind from birth. His very pale blue eyes, usually only found in shiny Electrike, reflect this. He has no sense of light or color, or how to use his electrical talents to generate light offensively.

Tomas doesn't see it as much of a loss, though. His hearing and sense of smell are acute enough to manage for him in most circumstances, and his innate sense of electric fields handles the rest.

Effect: Tomas is blind. Any attack (such as Confuse Ray, Signal Beam, or Double Team) or ability (such as Illuminate) that depends on vision or light do not affect him. His accuracy is considered inherently at -2 (meaning it is at -2 at the start of battles, is not effected by Psych Up, returns to this level after Haze, etc.). However, his accuracy cannot be lowered further (as the ability Keen Eye, although it would be more accurately called Keen Ear and Nose).

Due to his heightened senses, he is always considered under the effects of Odor Sleuth. Tomas cannot use the moves Light Screen, Double Team, Flash, or Signal Beam.

)

Alrighty, so, in light of all that, ahah, Tomas, run up to the squirrel and Bite him hard. If you miss, Bite again until you get him in your jaws. When he's in your mouth (assuming he gets there) take that opportunity to Flamethrower all on him. (It should be pretty easy to aim, since he'll be in your mouth.) If you can keep a grip on him and have an action left, Flamethrower again; if he's broken free after the bite, Howl your frustration.

Bite~Bite/Flamethrower~Bite/Flamethrower/Howl

Okay, Skiouros, wait for the Bite and then nail him with a Sweet Kiss. Follow with a Thunder Wave and finish by Super Fanging him.

Today, a generic meadow will be transformed into a battlefield. In a way, the simplicity of the arena is ideal: there's nothing, not so much as a stump, to get in the way of the carnage (the hugely outsized pond lying adjacent to it warranting no mention). The showdown today is between newcomer Belgrade and established battler ole_schooler. It's going to be a straight-up brawl, no holds barred, and is certian to be exciting.

ole_schooler leads with Tomas the electrike. He sniffs the air, enjoying the opportunity to be outside his pokéball and anticipating the coming battle. Once Belgrade releases Skiorous, though, the electrike's laid-back attitude vanishes, and he lets out a low growl. He knows that annoying, chattery voice--it's a squirrel.

For his part, Skiorous finds Tomas' anger amusing. He dances back and forth on his side of the field, cheerfully doing everything he can to draw the electrike's ire.

Tomas is the first to move, leaping forward with fangs bared. But Skiorous darts away, and the electrike is too slow to respond; his bite clamps down on empty air. While the electrike turns his head this way and that, trying to regain his bearings, Skiorous darts in and gives him a light peck on the snout, then makes to bound away again.

Although Tomas is utterly confused by the unexpected kiss, his reflexes are still good enough that he manages to bring his head around and seize Skiorous in his jaws before the pachirisu can scamper off again. Skiorous squirms unhappily in Tomas' grasp, but the electrike holds firm, and the pachirisu's struggles reward him with nothing more than deep, black-edged gouges from Tomas' teeth.

Frustrated, Skiorous lies still for a moment, charging up to take a different approach to escape. Electricity flares around his cheek pouches as he unleashes a thunder wave straight into Tomas' body. The electrike seizes up as white-hot pain shoots through him, but to Skiorous' dismay muscle spasms only cause the electrike's jaw to lock, driving his teeth farther into the pachirisu.

While Tomas is struggling to recover from the sudden onset of paralysis, Skiorous prepares his next attack. The pachirisu's incisors glow red, then white-hot with energy as he concentrates an amazing amount of power in them. He twists around and sinks them into Tomas' cheek, shredding viciously through flesh and muscle. The overwhelming pain causes the electrike to finally release his grip on the pachirisu, then paw wildly at his face to dislodge the grimly-clinging creature. An exhausted Skiorous plops unceremoniously into the grass, but at least he's looking in better shape than Tomas, who is still twitching from paralysis and bleeding profusely from his face. Somehow the electrike maintains enough presence of mind to aim a flamethrower at Skiorous, singeing the pachirisu with a concentrated cone of flames, but he's in dire shape nonetheless.

Well done, Skiouros! Begin with Gunk Shot. Aim for the gash on his face. Follow that with Seed Bomb and then go for another Gunk Shot.

Alright, blind boy, I know you hurt a lot, but let's see if you can pull this off.

I rather like the idea of you having access to Gunk Shot, so do your best to Mimic the move when it comes in. (Focus on your foe's movements via sound and the electrical impulses coming off her body, smell the composition of the goo that lands on you, that sort of thing.) If you think mimicry is impossible, well, just Chillax and try to get rid of some of your stiff muscles. Next, if you think you're fast enough, Flamethrower in an arc facing the squirrel so as to incinerate the Seed Bomb before it arrives. If you're too slow and poisoned, just aim the Flamethrower at his face. If you're too slow and unpoisoned, throw up a 10% Substitute. Finally, see if you can send off a Thunder Wave of your own to still your opponent a bit.

Skiouros is still weary from his super fang attack, but he does his best to push fatigue aside and concentrate on preparing another move. Even with a paralyzed opponent, he can't afford to tarry. Tomas, meanwhile, struggles to concentrate through the pain. He listens to the faint sounds of the pachirisu gathering poison in his mouth, the unpleasant squelches as he rolls the toxic mixture around his mouth, letting it congeal into a dense wad, and the scent of the foul mixture as it reaches its final composition. By the time Skiouros is actually prepared to launch the gunk shot, Tomas is reasonably confident that he could replicate the attack if he were called upon to do so. What he hopefully won't replicate is what happens next--Skiouros missing completely with his attack, such that the gunk shot blows a crater in the earth behind Tomas rather than bothering the electrike himself. Skiouros groans inwardly, while Tomas relaxes--perhaps the super fang was something of a boon, if it made Skiouros tired enough to mess up a powerful attack like that.

Tomas keeps his ears trained on his opponent as the pachirisu hastily stuffs handfuls of grass into his mouth, the cocktail of energy and chemicals lingering after his gunk shot rapidly enlarging the seeds contained therein to outsize, highly explosive projectiles. When Skiouros spits them at his opponent in a rapid-fire stream, Tomas is just able to swing his head around and breathe a flamethrower into the path of the soaring projectiles. The seed bombs detonate immediately as the fire envelops them, and after a series of rattling explosions, nothing remains of Skiouros' attack but a cloud of smoke hanging between pachirisu and electrike.

By now, Skiouros is absolutely furious. He chatters a few choice epithets, then is forced to vicious quiet as he uses his mouth as the staging ground for another gunk shot. This time, he keeps his frustrated eyes fixed obsessively on Tomas, determined that he won't disgrace himself with another miss. In the end, the extra attention pays off, and Skiouros' noxious projectile flies true. Tomas opens his mouth to yelp as the gunk shot bursts against the side of his face, snapping his head sideways, and immediately regrets it as burning poison fills his mouth. He paws at his muzzle, heedless of his injuries, and tries to wipe as much of the awful stuff off his face as he can. Fortunately, the heavy bloodflow from the reopened gash on his face is able to flush the toxins away before any lingering poison can take hold.

It's cold comfort for Tomas, though. Not only did the gunk shot hurt a great deal, but its noxious smell fills his nostrils, drowning out Skiouros' scent. He can only guess at the pachirisu's location, and in the end he guesses wrong--the sizzling arc of his thunder wave terminates uselessly in the ground rather than his target's body.

Alright. Keep at that Thunder Wave until it takes, little buddy. After that, give the squirrel a taste of it's own medicine with Gunk Shot until you get a poison effect. If by some miracle you have an action remaining, Chill to get rid of some paralysis of your own. Should you smell a substitute, go for Gunk Shot all the way; for any action that your foe is unhittable (Protect/Detect/Dig/stuff like that), Chill.
