• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

[intro]

Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies Diamond and Pearl Wi-Fi League. Here you can trade and battle with other members, participate in events and tournaments and more! Just read the following rules, grab an account and get started.

Note: I apologize if it sounds like I’m being repetitive or condescending at any point during these rules, but the number of people who have managed to ignore them is much higher than I’d like it to be. To be fair, there wasn’t really a proper “Rules thread” before, and people might have been unclear as to what they were supposed to do. And so, in an attempt to be as clear and straightforward as possible, I have reorganized the rules, made it clearer that there ARE rules and cross-referenced any other important threads. You now have no excuse not to follow these rules, and as it’s not difficult to do I expect everyone to follow them.

[registration]

Your first stop in the Wi-Fi League (or, rather, second, as this should be your first) will be the Customs and Registration topic. Read over the guidelines there and then apply for your Trainer ID. After posting your application, WAIT for a High Council member (a list can be found at the end of this post) to approve it and post it in the Records Office topic. If your ID has not been added to the Records Office then your registration is NOT complete and you cannot participate in league activities. Remember that simply posting your application yourself does NOT make you a registered member. We do our best to check the Customs topic for new registrations as often as possible, add them as quickly as we can and try to remember to post acknowledgment of your acceptance in the Customs topic. It shouldn’t take long at all, so there is no reason not to be patient.

After an HC member has added your ID to the Records Office (and not before!) you’re ready to get started and are welcome to participate in any of the activities listed below.

*IMPORTANT!* Two of the activities that previously required registration, using the GTS forum and the Battle Tower, do not require registration any longer. It just doesn't make much sense to have to put up with registration for those things, as it's not as though we're keeping track of anything there. If that is all you wish to do here then you may do so without signing up, but you will still need to follow any other guidelines established in that forum/thread. All other official activities still require registration as usual.

Note: Attempting to participate in an official league activity without proper registration will result in a verbal warning, the locking of any offending threads you have made and a request that you go to the Customs topic and complete your registration properly. It will normally be a week before we finally allow the registration of someone who has made such an error, at which point you will be permitted to participate in the league as normal. Repeated offenses will push your registration back even further and might eventually result in complete denial of your registration and effective banning from the league. It is not hard to register and follow the rules, so please make your best effort to do so.

[gts]

It’s quite difficult to complete a Pokédex or find the perfect Pokémon all by yourself, and using the in-game Global Trade Station can be frustrating sometimes. If you’re searching for or offering Pokémon and would like an easier, more personable way to make a deal then look no further than the Dachét GTS sub-forum. There you can create a thread asking for or offering a certain Pokémon; you can also open a “shop” that holds all of your offers and your wishlist in one place in addition to other “services” you might want to provide (such as breeding specific Pokémon for people or infecting Pokémon with Pokérus). You no longer need to register to use this feature.

[dachét gts sub-forum] [gts guidelines]

[battle tower]

Itching for a battle? The Dachét Battle Tower topic is where you’ll want to go. You can make a challenge using whatever rules you like there and wait for someone to snap it up. You no longer need to register to use this feature.

[official battle tower topic]

[tournaments]

In addition to the casual battles that anyone can wage at any time, from time to time the Wi-Fi League will hold official tournaments for nice prizes, usually in the form of a rare or powerful Pokémon. Read the rules carefully; different tournaments can have different rules or formats and if you’re not familiar with them you could be left in the dust (or disqualified). General tournaments will be announced in the main forum; the two individual leagues (see below) will also have their own specific tournaments in their own sub-forums. Note: You MUST be registered to take part in any official tournaments (they will be noted as such in their thread titles/first posts). Member-run tournaments are exempt from this, although you must still provide proof of registration if the person running the tournament asks for it.

[events]

From time to time, the Wi-Fi League in general and the individual Chrome and Crystal leagues will hold “events” that registered members can participate in. These will most likely be special tournaments or other sorts of battle challenges that offer nice prizes and a little fun while you’re at it. These events may run indefinitely, or they may only be available for a short period of time; the rules and specifics of each event will be explained in the event’s official thread. When an event is getting ready to start, we’ll be sure to let you know!

[chrome league]

If you’re a competitive battler (meaning you pay attention to your Pokémon’s IVs, EVs, natures, etc.) then the fierce battles staged in the Chrome League are for you. The tournaments, gym challenges and events that occur here (more on gym challenges and events later) will have you facing the toughest opponents and rather daunting circumstances. While any registered member is welcome to compete in Chrome League activities, it’s probably for the best if you are well-prepared before mounting any sort of challenge.

[crystal league]

Not that interested in competitive battling? Do you just feel like having a good time with your favorite Pokémon, regardless of their natures or EVs? No matter what your skill level, everyone is welcome to enjoy a battle in the Crystal League. The tournaments, gym challenges and events here are more laid back than those found in the Chrome League; it’s a good place to come and play if you’re newer to battling or if you simply can’t be bothered counting the number of Zubat you’ve knocked out.

[crystal league sub-forum] [crystal league gym rules]

Note that any registered member is welcome to participate in either league and is more than welcome to participate in both.

[news and updates]

If any changes to the rules are made, new features are added or anything else needs mentioning, check the News and Updates topic. (Updates to the official rules or any other individual set of rules will also be noted in their corresponding threads.)

[news and updates topic]

[member ideas]

The High Council organizes and oversees all of the official league activities, but we understand that our members might have other ideas for tournaments, events and more. If you have a neat idea for a tournament, event or other activity, you are more than welcome to PM an HC member about it or make a thread in the main Wi-Fi forum to garner ideas and support. If the HC can’t find any problems with your idea, you can go ahead and get it started. Chances are that most ideas will be given the all-clear, but you must remember to bring your idea to the HC's attention first anyway!

[dishonesty/cheating]

Let’s get one thing out of the way right now: the High Council has no way to monitor or prove accusations of cheating, hacking or other forms of dishonesty. It is too difficult and too impractical. That said, dishonesty is still not tolerated in the Wi-Fi league. Since most cases of alleged dishonesty are cases of “he said, she said” that can’t generally be proved either way, the usual way to handle such a situation will be to replay the match (in the case of a battle) or try to re-arrange a proper trade (in the case of a trade), as much as we’d like to be able to do more; we will, however, observe you more closely and you will have a mark against you in the HC’s books. If the same person is repeatedly involved in similar incidents then action may be taken under suspicion of dishonesty; punishment will be a temporary or permanent ban from the league.

Note: Pokémon that have been created or altered by a cheating device such as Action Replay or Pokésav are permitted in official (i.e. tournament) battles (although we’d really rather you didn’t) so long as their stats and moves are still within the legal range. Reports of super-strong Pokémon, Pokémon that know attacks they should not or other suspicious Pokémon will cause us to watch you a bit more carefully and possibly take action if the allegations continue. If someone requests in their battle tower post, gym topic or GTS thread that they specifically do NOT want to deal with hacked Pokémon, however, you ARE expected to honor that request.

[need help or information?]

First off, if you are curious about a certain rule, you can post a question in the appropriate thread or PM an HC member (a list of HC members can be found at the bottom of this post). There are also threads that contain other important help and information, such as the official ban list (a must-read for those who will be participating in the Chrome/Crystal Leagues or any official tournaments and events), which details Pokémon that are not allowed in official league activities, and the Wi-Fi help thread, where members can help one another resolve their connection issues. These threads are also great places to ask question or find information if you’re unsure about something and want to clear it up before you register.

[don’t want to register?]

Well, unless all you want to do is trade or use the battle tower I’m not sure why you wouldn’t. It’s not like we’re charging money, collecting personal information or otherwise inconveniencing you. Would it really kill you to take two minutes to sign up and then wait for no more than a day or two (often substantially less) to be added?

[come on, you know you really want to register, though]

[the high council]

Following is a list of the current High Council members who make the rules and keep the peace around here. If you have a comment, question or complaint, PM one of these members; note that their decisions are final, however.

+Kratos Aurion

We are not currently accepting any more HC members and asking to be one will not get you anywhere. If we feel that an HC member needs to be added or replaced, we will handle it.

[closing]

That’s about all that needs to be said about rules and finding your way around here. If you have anything to say or ask about these rules, you can post it here (or contact an HC member about it).

Minor update to the rules, consisting entirely of little clarifications here and there. The one I really want to bring to your attention is the boldface type under the [member ideas] section, concerning member-run tournaments, events, etc.. Look, I think it's great when you guys have ideas for activities, but you still need to get my permission to start anything. I just want to make sure that everything checks out beforehand, or maybe offer you a few suggestions if it doesn't seem like the idea will get very far. I promise that I'm pretty easy in this regard, especially given my general lack of ideas of my own, but you do need to get my okay first. All right? All right.

No, you can't make the edit yourself, but you can request an edit and I'll add them for you.
