Negrek vs Chiropter

Start out by blasting Hecate with an icy wind to disrupt her and slow her down. Then use another faint attack to strike, but instead of returning to where you started from, dart over amidst those boxes you were hiding in at the start of the match before reappearing. If Hecate isn't in reach for some reason, just use it to go invisible and hide. Finish with amnesia.

If Hecate tries to psychic-throw you into the water again, lock yourself in place with your claws and screech to disrupt her concentration. If she wants to go with a protect or psychic, shift your orders back an action and continue.

Icy Wind ~ Faint Attack (to boxes) / Thunder Wave / Screech (and hold) ~ Amnesia / Faint Attack (to boxes) / Screech (and hold)

Let's begin with a Secret Power to finish off that substitute. Once that's done, wait for Infidel to use Faint Attack, then Mimic it. This should lead you to where he’s hiding; just wait by him until he’s used Amnesia, then use Psych Up.

Secret Power ~ Mimic (Faint Attack) ~ Psych Up

.: Negrek vs Chiropter :: Round Three :.

3vs3 single
DQ: Standard Week
DC: 35%
Restricted Moves: Chills 5/pokémon, direct recoveries 1/pokémon
Arena: The Docklands By Night

The Docklands, a shady backwater town in a shady, backwater region is a shady, shady place to be. Especially when the sun isn't out. Fortunately, battlers here will have the moonlight--or what little moonlight they'll actually be able to see over the city's electric glare, that is.

The battle takes place down at the docks, where the region's major oceangoing vessels come to load up on cargo or unload their goods to local vendors. The place is dominated by a maze of rusted storage lockers, rubbish, and, above all, the cranes.

The cranes are huge machines, standing in rows that stretch on for miles. Rusted and pitted from years of service, they are illuminated by a multitude of lights that cast orange and purplish auras through the hazy, polluted air. From a distance, the place looks like another world watched over by huge, squatting robots. Closer up, though, as in where the battlers will be fighting, the saturation of light only helps to make the shadows starker and paints the scene in a weird glow that is at once unsettling and detached.

Notes: Water pokémon are easily accommodated here, as they can swim up alongside the docks or call water attacks from there. The water is far from clean, but it's not bad enough to do them any damage over the course of only one battle. Weather moves work fine, but sunny day only serves to intensify the moonlight, which, while it will increase recovery from moonlight or morning sun and decrease solarbeam charge time, will not increase the power of fire-type attacks or decrease the power of water-type attacks. It also cannot prevent freezing like normal sun can.

Status: “You suck.” Glaring at Infidel. Her back is hurting, but no injuries are actually visible.

.: Actions :.

Infidel inhales deeply, holding his breath long enough to lower the temperature in his lungs. Then he breathes out, blasting Hecate with frigid air and blowing her away. The gas surrounding Hecate disappears, and she loses her shape for a moment, but the gastly manages to pull herself back together, and more poisonous gas seeps out of her body. She glares, shivering. All of her particles have slowed down from the cold, and even the gas is drifting off of her more slowly. She opens her mouth, nearly splitting herself in half, and focuses. She draws power from all around her, pushing energy into her mouth and letting it be coloured by the outside world’s energy. A brilliant white beam shoots from her mouth and tears through the substitute, although the doll manages to withstand the entire beam before shattering.

Blinking away the image burned into his retinas, Infidel hastily shrouds himself in darkness. His glowing pupils disappear, as does the reflection off his coin, and he completely vanishes. Hecate watches carefully; she can see much better than the humans, so she can see exactly how the dark energy is pulled from within Infidel and manipulated to wrap around him. She waits, watching the wind carry away her poisonous particles, for the inevitable attack.

Despite her waiting, she’s unprepared for the darkness-infused claws tearing through her back. All of the dark energy that touches Hecate is torn from Infidel’s paw, revealing it, but a moment later the paw is surrounded by a black cloud and disappears.

It’s Hecate’s turn. She focuses on the memories of Infidel’s faint attack, and reaches for the dark energy the same way, wrapping it around herself in the same way. She pauses for a moment as she moves past the memories of how to manipulate the energy around her limbs, as she doesn’t have any, and instead looks at the way Infidel disappears. Understanding fills her: so that’s how he did it! She does the same, letting herself disappear into the darkness.

This new world is entirely different from the physical or spiritual one. It’s not as peaceful as the spiritual world, and she feels uncomfortable in all the darkness, and there’s still everything there like the physical world. It’s just that she’s not there, and also is… she shakes herself, and flies toward the boxes. There is no light, so everything is equally visible, even if it’s hiding behind something else. She finds Infidel easily, stalking without the dark energy through the boxes, and considers how she’s supposed to hit him. She floats lowly over him, opening her mouth and considering. Tongue? Fangs? She closes her mouth again, then points herself downward and launches herself.

Infidel peers around a barrel, looking back at where he last saw Hecate, but there’s nobody there. He frowns, then continues stalking through the boxes and looking for a good place to hide. He never finds it, though. Quite suddenly he feels something plough into his back, and sees the ground rushing up to meet his face. Automatically he reaches out with his paws to catch himself, but the short distance to the ground doesn’t give him the time.

Growling, he stands up and stares at the gastly, who is grinning, tongue lolling out carelessly. He doesn’t particularly want much more than to grab that tongue and sever it at this point, but he sits down and closes his eyes instead. He reaches into his mind and carefully disconnects some of the less important extremities. Some of his memories vanish completely, and some knowledge about the way the world works or how to do certain things. Like pee. And an attack, probably, though he can’t be sure. He opens his eyes, staring up at Hecate and, to his dismay, still remembering who she is. He could do without that last embarrassing memory, although it might feel better to just get revenge.

Hecate reaches out to him with her mind, stealthily connecting his mind to hers. She examines how he feels, and her feelings start to match. She feels his annoyance, though directs it toward him, and his lack of feeling cold and heavy, and the feeling of being… stupid. Huh. Well, he is stupid anyway, and should feel that way, but she’s surprised he actually does. Serves him right.

Well, since you’re right there, hit Infidel with a Confuse Ray. After that, distance yourself from him a bit, maybe hide behind some of the crates if possible, and chill. Then come back out and use Sludge Bomb, or just keep chilling if he’s Protecting/Detecting/Substituting.

All right, great work, Infidel. Let's keep it up.

Start off with a taunt. I think you should be able to get one in before Hecate's confuse ray, but close your eyes just in case--wouldn't want you getting distracted.

Follow up with a faint attack to get some more damage in, then finish it all with a small substitute so that Hecate's command will be to chill--or freak out with wrath in this case, no doubt. Anyway, even if she is so angry she disobeys orders, we'll at least be protected from that sludge bomb.

.: Actions :.

Infidel closes his eyes and immediately launches a volley of insults. Hecate freezes, gaping, all thoughts of a confuse ray vanishing as the sneering and mocking comments pile up on her. She closes her mouth and narrows her eyes, letting out a hiss, then a low growl. Infidel, still with his eyes closed, doesn’t stop taunting her and challenging her to actually do something he can feel. It’s not too different from what she’s heard before, from his very mouth, but still—something within Hecate snaps. He wants some pain? Fine! She quickly searches her mind, but can’t think straight—she’s got no orders to help her, and no attacks are coming to mind, because she just wants to hurt him. So she turns to the few things she’s physically capable of, with her weak, light body. She chomps on his ear, his arms, his tail, biting everywhere as hard as she can. She has nothing in the way of jaw strength whatsoever, but she tries to make up for it with quantity. Infidel swats at her, irritated (and, though he won’t admit it, in a little bit of pain), and scoffs at her efforts.

Shadows crawl up and cover his fur, and he vanishes from sight. Hecate, suddenly lacking a target, snaps her jaws on her massive tongue. She flies in a circle. Unable to think of a way to systematically search for the thrice-damned meowth or realise that it’s futile, she furiously glares behind every crate and barrel in sight. Still fuming, she glares at the spot Infidel vanished from and doesn’t notice the change in wind behind her. A claw, covered in dark energy, swipes through her. She shoots forward to escape the pain, and when she looks back, Infidel waves at her with a grin. Not willing to stand for this, and not even thinking of hiding or relaxing, Hecate dives at him again and continues chomping as hard as she can, this time mainly targeting his tail and shaking as if it would worsen the pain. It might have worked if she actually had any sort of grip, but instead the tail slips out of her grip during a particularly hard tug, and she finds herself flying in the direction she’d been pulling—down. The ground hitting her slightly solidified body barely hurts at all, but neither did her attacks. She can’t even see where his wounds might be.

Infidel’s coin glitters in the moonlight, and a coin falls to the ground. A meowth head grows from the coin, followed by a body lying face-down on the ground. Infidel picks it up and sets it on its feet, then asks Hecate what she’s going to do now.

Hecate is asking herself the same question. She would have been able to attack, but now she can’t, because he just had to go and do that, but she’s been told to—no. NO, Infidel is not substituting, and Hecate’s trainer never ordered anything other than sludge bomb in case there was any substitute present. It just… didn’t happen. There’s no reason to go back to that useless attack that causes almost no damage! Large amounts of gas are released from Hecate’s body, and the gas forms into a large ball. She compresses the ball to a liquid form, and with a scream, hurls it at Infidel.

Naturally, Infidel’s new protector leaps between the attack and the victim. A large crack runs down the middle of the sludge-covered substitute, but it doesn’t break. Hecate hisses. Infidel howls with laughter.

Talk about your blasts from the past.

Mmm, you've got your substitute to protect you, so why don't you cast some aspersions on Hecate's sludge bomb with spite? Chill if she protects or double teams.

Follow with another faint attack, unless Hecate has moved over the water, in which case blast her with an icy wind, spread wide if she has clones. Hold tight to the dock so you don't get thrown off.

Finish with odor sleuth or, if Hecate has attacked you and is in range, a payback. Chill if she protects.

Well, Hecate, you’re obviously feeling pretty angry right now, so go ahead and take out your frustrations on what’s left of that substitute. Once that’s taken care of, try putting Infidel to sleep with Hypnosis. Follow with Dream Eater if that was successful, Hypnosis again if it wasn’t.

.: Actions :.

As amused as Infidel is about Hecate’s failure, he has to admit that he doesn’t like the fact that she tried to attack him with something so disgusting—in fact, he’s really irritated that he could have been hit by such a thing. The amusement slips from his face and turns into a meowth-scowl. He watches the sludge dripping off the cracked substitute, and his tail twitches with irritation. Hecate, worth no more than a diarrheic street-rattata, would have exploded poisonous slime all over Infidel’s beautiful fur and tried to make him sick—well, let’s see her do it now! A ghostly aura surrounds his paw, barely visible in the moonlight, and he swipes in Hecate’s direction. She frowns, feeling a slight chill that reminds her of anger and hate, but then growls and gives Infidel a cold stare. He thinks he knows what anger is, does he? He thinks he understands hatred? That’s nothing! She dives at the sludge-covered doll and smashes it with her body, strangely solid, and she bites and thrashes and tackles until it shatters. She stares down at the glittering shards, smirking a little. That was satisfying—but not nearly as much as destroying Infidel would be.

Infidel barely glances at the broken substitute. He hadn’t expected it to last long, really, so he didn’t get too attached. He gives more thought to the idea of causing harm. Flashing his teeth, he lets darkness crawl over his body and vanishes under the cover of the night. Hecate swivels her body to look for him, with half a mind to fly as high as she can to see if he can follow, but his paw tears through her back before she can do anything. She snaps her eyes toward him. The darkness fades to reveal the shine of his wet fur, and he stares up at her, taunting. Hecate’s eyes glow red. Infidel scoffs—that’s not very intimidating, even if it looks like those villains in cartoons. In fact, it’s oddly soothing, and he can’t help but relax. He never feels his eyelids slide shut or his body hitting the ground. He just observes the two red moons in front of him, both looking like eyes, with slight interest, until a glint of metal catches his eye.

Oh? What’s this? He looks down, and to his surprise, coins are strewn across the cobblestones. He picks one up and looks at it. Gold, definitely, even soft enough to scratch, but more importantly, it’s shiny. He looks around and finds a conveniently-placed cloth sack. He drops the coin in the sack. The flapping of wings—he looks up and sees a murkrow perched on a lamp post. With a snarl, Infidel dashes to the coins and shoves them in the cloth sack, but keeping his eyes on the murkrow so he can fend it off. The murkrow dives, but its wings turn to vapour and its eyes are huge, and when it opens its beak, its entire head splits open. The gastly bites a chunk of the ground with the coins in it, and the whole thing disappears. She goes for more coins, gulping them down faster than Infidel has ever seen. He howls and dives at her, but she’s already behind him, grabbing the sack of gold and throwing it up, catching it in her mouth. She turns around, sticks out her tongue, and pulls out of his mind. The pink glow fades from Hecate’s eyes and she licks her head. That wasn’t a bad-tasting dream, but more importantly, Infidel’s twitching and muttering in his sleep, and she knows she’s finally wiped the stupid smirk from his stupid face, even in his stupid dream.

Hmm, Hecate would have taken more than 4% even after the dream eater, wouldn't she? Or did you have dream eater give health equal to the damage it dealt instead of half?

After technician, faint attack is 90 base power, and it's super effective as well... so that would have been 10% damage at least, I think, and then if dream eater only did 6%, Hecate would be looking at more like 7% off in the end.

Whoa, almost forgot this was updated. Sorry.

Let's try something a little different than what I was planning, Hecate. Unless Infidel wakes up during the first action, use Haze. Follow up with as many Dream Eaters as he stays asleep for, and this time, drain energy instead of health.

If he wakes up, use Mean Look to stop any further faint attacks for a while, then throw some Thunder Punches if you've got time.

Haze/Mean Look ~ Dream Eater (energy)/Mean Look/Thunder Punch ~ Dream Eater (energy)/Mean Look/Thunder Punch

Doing fine, Infidel. Chill it up until you awaken, at which point blow that haze away and slow Hecate down again with an icy wind. Spread it out a bit if you're afraid you'll miss.

If you have actions left, give her a dark pulse.
