Default [15] Keldeo vs Eta Carinae (ref: Totodile)

2 vs 2 Inverse Battle
Style: Set
DQ: 7 days
Damage Cap: 35%
Banned/Restricted Moves: OHKOs, Pain Split, Perish Song, moves that KO the user; direct recovery is restricted to 1 use in the match (by any Pokémon), Chills are restricted to 5 uses (per Pokémon), and damage-dealing Normal-type moves are restricted to 3 uses (per Pokémon).
Arena: Route 19/Grande Vallée Way

The great wooden bridge across the valley will be the site of this battle. It's long and wide, with high protective rails (though they may be not much more than a widely spaced net of ropes). The bridge is very sturdy and will readily withstand much of the action, although inevitably it isn't entirely unbreakable, and sufficiently extreme trauma may cause it to snap. The fall is unlikely to be painful for many Pokémon other than those of the Fire-type, however, as the height isn't too great and what waits below is not much more than soft marshy ground and calm waters. While the thing is still standing, at least, the battle gets a picturesque backdrop, with just the right setup of waters, hills, and skies.

The most important trick to this battle as it's being influenced by the mysterious powers of the Psychic known as Inver, who causes super-effective moves to deal not very effective damage while not very effective or entirely ineffective moves deal super-effective damage. To battle under these circumstances is known as an Inverse Battle. Furthermore, as Normal-types are extremely advantaged in these battles, Pokémon whose only type is Normal may not be sent out in this match.

As much as I'd love to go Lapras-on-Lapras, this feels like a lovely opportunity to give Surabaya a shot! Go get it, girl!

I thought about trying to Knock Off that Snowball to start, but I really don't see you needing to use Ice Fang that much. Lead with a Swords Dance to get us in the battling mood, then follow up with a Poison Jab and a Cross Poison. If Nevy turns out to be Pedri instead, switch out that Cross Poison for Crunch. If she Protects against anything on the second or third action, try an Acupressure! What could go wrong?

Start with a lovely Reflect to take the edge off those attacks, and then go for a lovely one-action Solar Beam to get some damage in. End with a lovely Avalanche.

So, in order to keep things moving along, I've reffed this round of the match. Hopefully, this won't be any kind of inconvenient to TruetoCheese. In any case, you two get to be the patients zero of a new reffing structure I've been fiddling with a few weeks earlier.

Keldeo vs Eta Carinae
Kalos Open Quarterfinals
Round 1

Two trainers stood on opposing sides of a great bridge, the distance only doing so much to blur the focused gaze that each cast upon the other. Both were ready and eager despite the lopsided circumstances that they'd soon battle in -- they felt confident in their understanding of the bizarre rules under which the tournament quarterfinals would take place. However, while the battlers awaited, their assigned referee was a no-show for some time. After some waiting and seeing, someone emerged from the tournament organization staff, announcing that he'd keep the battle running while his superiors weren't looking.

With no more time lost, Pokémon were sent out on each side. West of the bridge, Keldeo unleashed a trusty Lapras, whispering her encouragement all the while; east of the bridge, Eta Carinae let out a ferocious Drapion, which quickly bellowed the loudest, most intimidating clicking noises she could muster. The interim referee rode his own Aerodactyl, then flew near one of the sides of the cliffs, where the Psychic known as Inver stood still. He was standing limply and rubbing his temples, but his disposition suddenly improved a lot with a friendly reminder of what the League had on him, and so, he put his arcane talents to work for yet another battle. With a series of rituals and sleights of hand, somewhere between mystical and obviously performatic, he spread out a wide ripple of distortion, evident only as the color of everything it affected was knocked just a jot off the usual palette.

Commands were issued, and the Pokémon stepped onto the bridge, nearing each other just enough. The last signal was issued -- the battle was underway at last.

With another click of blood fury, Surabaya made the first move. She began to hop and twirl vigorously around the bridge, as if to test its stability -- a test that it thankfully passed with flying colors, hardly budging an inch despite being violently rocked. Limber and ready, the Drapion sprinted ownards with surprising agility, but she'd find that her enemy had been setting up as well, despite the much lesser fanfare: an arched circle of golden light intercepted the straight line of confrontation, protecting only the Lapras behind it.

The Drapion stopped for a moment, testing her claws against the protective shield and closely eyeing her opponent, so as to take notice of any trickery. The time buffer was just perfect for Nevy Nervine to back off a couple steps and point her horn at the afternoon sun. At the very tip, sunlight gathered for a few moments, then shot out in a blindingly bright concentrated blast. While such a Grass-type move would normally only be able to punch through so much of a Poison-type Pokémon's body without rotting away, the venom actually seemed to ease the Solar Beam's flight, and so it burned effortlessly through Surabaya's front and left very evident scorch marks in its wake. Clearly, Keldeo understood the rules of Inverse Battle well.

Affected but undeterred, Eta Carinae's Pokémon continued to charge. As soon as she was in close range, she raised an arm overhead and slammed it downwards. Her foe patiently awaited behind her shield, expecting that it'd slow the attack right down. While the blunt blow did lose much of its impact to the Reflect barrier, there was still enough momentum for the attacker's hooked claws to sink in, injecting a charge of deadly venom.

Nevy Nervine screeched and slumped for a moment, under the sheer surprise of pain and sickness. Just the reaction her opponent had been hoping for, probably. She pulled herself into position with difficulty, then squeezed her eyes shut and braced for impact as all of the air near her dropped in temperature, clusters of snow forming over her acommodating shell. Surabaya, satisfied with this cowering behavior, eagerly unleashed her might once again, this time raising both arms, then slashing down with their claws in an intersecting trajectory. This motion was also heavily slowed down by the target's protection, this time puncturing too shallowly to leave as much of a mark. Moreover, as soon as the Lapras was struck, she used the momentum to send the accumulated ice on her back hurtling down, sweeping the unfortunate Drapion away in a violent rush of freezing-cold stone.

As the round ended, a single arm lifted up from the mass of snow on the bridge, gesturing of revenge.

Oh, ouch. In a few rounds or so I bet I'm going to be kicking myself for not using Heal Bell, but let's just try to keep up our damage output for now. For all three actions, don't attempt your nondamaging option if its conditions are fulfilled but you aren't able to use it for whatever reason; and you can ignore all clauses about Double Team if there's weather or another effect that clarifies which clone is real.

Start simple with an Ice Beam, but try to sweep it around if there are clones. You're a lot taller than she is and there isn't that much room to maneuver around on the bridge, so you should probably be able to position yourself so that you can shoot the beam through most of them even if you can't sweep it, right? Alternatively, if she has a Substitute and/or is holding a Snowball, use Waterfall, but if she has a Substitute and you can't use or hit with Waterfall, use Ice Beam. If she's Protecting or off the bridge or otherwise unhittable, or if she has a Snowball but you can't use or reach her with Waterfall, go for another Reflect, which should extend your current one's length; if you really need to, put up another Reflect after dropping your current one since that doesn't take an action or energy.

Next action, I'd like you to go for a Frost Breath. If she has a Snowball and no Substitute, or she has Double Team clones with or without a Substitute, use Hydro Pump instead, since the wider apparent blast radius (as it were) should help with the latter case. However, if she has clones, and a Frost Breath would work to disperse clones, and you think it would work better than a Hydro Pump, and she has either [neither a Snowball nor a Substitute] or [both a Snowball and a Substitute], go with a Frost Breath instead. If she's completely unhittable, or she has a Snowball but you can't use/hit with Hydro Pump, get your groove on with a Rain Dance I guess? Don't attempt one if it's already raining, though.

On your last action, use Brine if they have a Substitute and/or if you've hit them twice, or just go all-out with a one-action Solar Beam if you haven't. If you can't use or hit with one of these for whatever reason but she's hittable with the other and you can use the other, default to the other. If it's sunny and she's hittable and you can use it, use Solar Beam over anything else, and if it's rainy and she's hittable and you can use it, use Brine over anything else. Sweep a Brine if they are hittable and have clones and don't have a Substitute, no matter what other factors there are (this overrides the weather factor.) Curse if they're not hittable, or if it's rainy and you can't use or hit with Brine.

Ice Beam / Waterfall / (drop Reflect + Reflect) ~ Frost Breath / Hydro Pump / Rain Dance ~ Brine / Solar Beam (one action) / Curse

Drat, Lapras is sure a heavy Pokemon. I'd love to knock Nevy off the bridge with a Whirlwind (an Ogre Scorpion in a swamp? Almost unfair) and really take the battle for a loop, but I can't see it being effective. Same with Strength while Reflect's up. Never fear, Surabaya, we'll take a different route.

Feint Attack onto Nevy's back. It would be golden if you could use it to bait and dodge Ice Beam as well, but I think Nevy's going to wait to see what you do, so don't worry about evasion that much. Getting that slight hit in will be some help, but the big thing I want you to go for is wrapping yourself around Nevy's neck as quickly as possible. Put those long arms to good use and make it as hard as you can for her to turn her head around to hit you. Hang on tight; you're both in for a ride.

Follow with a Confuse Ray, then hit her with a solid Venoshock, both of which should be delightfully effective from such close range. Good luck (both to you and to me)!

Round Two

Keldeo (Oo)
laprassnowball
Nevy Nervine (F) Water Absorb
Health: 82%
Energy: 81%
Status: Sickly, but triumphant. Poisoned (moderate, 4% damage/round). Reflect active (3 more actions).
Commands: Ice Beam / Waterfall / (drop Reflect + Reflect) ~ Frost Breath / Hydro Pump / Rain Dance ~ Brine / Solar Beam (one action) / Curse

Eta Carinae (Oo)
drapionlife-orb
Surabaya (F) Sniper
Health: 65%
Energy: 88%
Status: About to do the winteriest zombie rise. Att +2.
Commands: Feint Attack ~ Confuse Ray ~ Venoshock

After a slight kerfuffle regarding future oversight of this brawl, the action resumes in earnest. Nevy eyes the pile of snow, anticipating that her foe will try to surprise her again … and she really is surprised when Surabaya explodes out from the snow, making flakes scatter everywhere and leaving a trail of buggy footprints in her wake. With savage speed she skitters toward Nevy, almost passing her before turning suddenly and throwing herself on the Lapras’s shelled back. Her claws are sharp, but they don’t bother Nevy too much: the gentle glow of her Reflect shield has substantially slowed Surabaya’s momentum. Nevertheless, Nevy growls as the bug wraps her limbs around her neck, fastening herself in place. This next bit is going to be awkward … Nevy strains to look around at Surabaya, gathering a ball of icy energy in her mouth. It isn’t easy to aim, but she knows she needs to get in a good hit. Her Ice Beam streaks down, catching Surabaya in the face and making her splutter against the chill. Nevy smiles at the Drapion’ discomfort, though she knows that missing such a move would have been a disaster.

Surabaya, though uncomfortable, isn’t deterred. Her eyes glitter with mischief, then with a strange, subversive light, which bursts upward in a twisting display of color. The Confuse Ray catches Nevy on the chin, and she pauses in wonder at the sight of lights that only she can see. Surabaya grins to herself, glad to have disrupted the Lapras’s focus so efficiently. Then she stares in disbelief as Nevy, managing to look past the pretty lights, twists her head again, opens her mouth, and manages to exhale a frosty breath that settles unpleasantly on Surabaya’s carapace. Shivering at the chill, she glares up at Nevy, who only smiles as she looks into the distance - presumably thinking that she’s pleased the lights with this latest move.

This is getting out of hand, Surabaya thinks. Time to bring out the big guns. Her toothy jaws open, and she sprays a disgusting-looking substance onto Nevy’s neck, where it quickly seeps down into her skin. A second later, Nevy stiffens and wails as the two chemicals in her system clash with each other. Through the red haze of pain, she realizes that the lights have considerably faded from her vision; unsure of what this signifies, she eventually decides to just make her next move and see what happens. With a little concentration, she introduces a brief surge of salt into the water rising in her gut, and, turning her head uncomfortably around for the third time, spews it all over Surabaya. The seawater substitute, though only a few gallons total, sinks into the little cracks left in Surabaya’s carapace by repeated exposures to the cold. Hissing loudly as the water stings, she manages a glare at Nevy, trying to shake off the salty droplets. For Nevy’s part, she seems pleased with herself, though a little dazed; she barely notices the golden Reflect around her as it flickers out of existence.

Keldeo (Oo)
laprassnowball
Nevy Nervine (F) Water Absorb
Health: 53%
Energy: 68%
Status: Woozily smiling. Poisoned (moderate, 4% damage/round). Confused (moderate, 25% chance of hurting self).
Commands: Ice Beam ~ Frost Breath ~ Brine

Eta Carinae (Oo)
drapionlife-orb
Surabaya (F) Sniper
Health: 26%
Energy: 78%
Status: Wishing Nevy would go freeze herself. Att +2.
Commands: Feint Attack ~ Confuse Ray ~ Venoshock

Arena Notes:
- Snow is scattered across the bridge.

Calculations:
- Nevy Nervine’s health: 82% - 6% (Feint Attack) - 1% (poison) - 2% (poison) - 20% (Venoshock) - 1% (poison) = 53%
- Nevy Nervine’s energy: 81% - 4% (Ice Beam) - 2% (Frost Breath) - 7% (Brine) = 68%
- Surabaya’s health: 65% - 1% (Life Orb) - 11% (Ice Beam) - 10% (Frost Breath) - 1% (Life Orb) - 16% (Brine) = 26%
- Surabaya’s energy: 88% - 3% (Feint Attack) - 4% (Confuse Ray) - 3% (Venoshock) = 78%

Other Notes:
- Surabaya outspeeds Nevy Nervine (95 > 60).
- Nevy has an accuracy reduction for most moves (20%) while Surabaya is clinging to her from behind, but she still managed to hit her on each action this round.

Next Round:
- Eta Carinae commands
- Keldeo commands

Let's see what we can make of this, Surabaya. Those Venoshocks are nasty, nasty, nasty, so give Nevy another one to start. If she decides to protect, make a small Substitute instead (which would be fun to write, considering the close proximity of the battlers). If you used Venoshock, follow with Knock Off. If you didn't use Venoshock, give it to her on the second action, unless there's another Protect, in which case Swords Dance. Finally, Venoshock if you've yet to use it, Knock Off if you haven't used it but you have used Venoshock, and, geez, uh, spread some Toxic Spikes over the bridge if she protects again.

Venoshock/Substitute ~ Knock Off/Venoshock/Swords Dance ~ Venoshock/Knock Off/Toxic Spikes

You've done well, Surabaya.

Well, I think we have some room for error this round, so let's take a few risks. The Venoshock should decrease your confusionfail chance by a fair amount, so why don't we start with a Sing, since she's on your back and most likely very close to your mouth? On the second action, if she's asleep use Dream Eater for health, but if she's awake try a one-action Solar Beam. On the third, Dream Eater for health again if she's asleep, one-action Solar Beam if you used Dream Eater last action but she's awake now, and Natural Gift if you used Solar Beam last action. Good luck, Nevy!

Round Three

Keldeo (Oo)
laprassnowball
Nevy Nervine (F) Water Absorb
Health: 53%
Energy: 68%
Status: Woozily smiling. Poisoned (moderate, 4% damage/round). Confused (moderate, 25% chance of hurting self).
Commands: Sing ~ Dream Eater (health) / Solar Beam (one action) ~ Dream Eater (health) / Solar Beam (one action) / Natural Gift

Eta Carinae (Oo)
drapionlife-orb
Surabaya (F) Sniper
Health: 26%
Energy: 78%
Status: Wishing Nevy would go freeze herself. Att +2.
Commands: Venoshock/Substitute ~ Knock Off/Venoshock/Swords Dance ~ Venoshock/Knock Off/Toxic Spikes

Nevy muses to herself on the colors gathering at the edge of her vision, wondering if she can get an award for discovering a new one … and another jagged pulse of pain wipes those colors clear away, making her gasp for air. She shudders, feeling nausea threatening to creep up, but her head is otherwise back in the game. Making a face as she listens to Surabaya’s chittering laugh, she opens her mouth and sings a gentle, soothing lullaby that betrays none of her sickness. Unfortunately, she can’t reach far enough to aim at her Drapion enemy, and Surabaya watches with amusement as Nevy’s warbling melody falters, then trails away as she realizes there is no effect. Nevy snorts, frustrated.

Surabaya doesn’t give her time to regroup. Her eyes dart up and down Nevy’s form, soon coming to rest on her target: a good-sized ball of snow, tucked into the little space where her shell ends and her neck begins. With a sharp grin, she slaps the snowball right out of its hiding place, taking care to add some claw action into that swipe. Groaning through gritted teeth, Nevy can only watch in dismay as her item goes bouncing over the edge of the bridge, coming to a slurping stop on the marshy ground. This won’t do, she thinks. Mouth open, she pulls in all the solar energy she can, not minding the extra effort it takes to do it so quickly. She reaches around as best she can, points her face toward Surabaya, and fires.

Even bracing herself, Surabaya can only clench her teeth at the assault. Her carapace, normally impervious to floral offenses, crumples a little under the Solar Beam’s power, and she can’t keep her grip. Knocked from her perch, she skids a little ways along the bridge. Then it ends, she looks at the impact point in dismay. It’s getting down to the wire now - she isn’t sure she can last much longer - so, after considering the conditionals in her commands, she eventually decides to repeat her last success. Another healthy smack strikes Nevy, this time catching her from the front. This Knock Off has no item to target, so it’s a bit less effective, but Surabaya still smiles as Nevy hisses in pain. Then Nevy straightens, and Surabaya freezes, wondering if she’s made a mistake. Inhaling deeply, Nevy begins to glow, calling upon her own natural power. When a silver-white aura has sufficiently surrounded her, she casts it forward with a thought, and it immediately funnels forward in a beam of light, punching Surabaya in the face.

The light recedes. Nevy, struggling to keep her breathing even, eyes Surabaya carefully, and her ears perk up upon noticing that the Drapion is in no shape to continue this brawl. Her flippers flap in celebration, though she knows this is no time to relax. Who knows what mon will step forward to avenge Surabaya ...

Keldeo (Oo)
lapras
Nevy Nervine (F) Water Absorb
Health: 18% (capped)
Energy: 52%
Status: Winding down, but pleased nonetheless. 1/3 damaging normal-type moves used. Poisoned (moderate, 4% damage/round).
Commands: Sing ~ Solar Beam (1 action) ~ Natural Gift

Eta Carinae (Xo)
drapionlife-orb
Surabaya (F) Sniper
Health: 0%
Energy: 66%
Status: Knocked out!
Commands: Venoshock ~ Knock Off ~ Knock Off

Arena Notes:
- Snow is scattered across the bridge.
- A Snowball is chilling in the marsh below the bridge.

Calculations:
- Nevy Nervine’s health: 53% - 20% (Venoshock) - 1% (poison) - 18% (Knock Off) - 2% (poison) - 14% (Knock Off) - 1% (poison) = 18% (capped)
- Nevy Nervine’s energy: 68% - 1% (Sing) - 10% (Solar Beam) - 5% (Natural Gift) = 52%
- Surabaya’s health: 26% - 1% (Life Orb) - 1% (Life Orb) - 18% (Solar Beam) - 1% (Life Orb) - 13% (Natural Gift) = 0%
- Surabaya’s energy: 78% - 3% (Venoshock) - 5% (Knock Off) - 4% (Knock Off) = 66%

Other Notes:
- Surabaya stands alone (60).
- Nevy had an accuracy reduction for most moves (20%) while Surabaya was clinging to her from behind.
- Sing missed.
- Nevy’s confusion vanished completely on the first action.
- For the third action, there was some confusion on what Surabaya would do - she had already used Venoshock and Knock Off, and Nevy wasn’t Protecting. She compromised by picking a conditional at random, which happened to be Knock Off.
- Natural Gift was a critical hit.

Next Round:
- Eta Carinae sends out
- Keldeo commands
- Eta Carinae commands

Good job! It looks like we'll be biting the dust this round, though, so let's just Ice Shard for as long as you can. If Regalecida has a substitute or Double Team clones, or you can't reach or hit her with Ice Shard but you can reach/hit her with Hyper Voice, use Hyper Voice. If you can't use a move but its conditionals are fulfilled, or if she has a Protect up, go for Future Sight on the first two actions and I guess Hail on the last. For all of these conditionals, don't wait to check them - so if the conditionals for one move are fulfilled by the time you're ready to go, but she hasn't acted and the conditionals might change once she acts, just use the move anyway.

Ice Shard / Hyper Voice / Future Sight x2 ~ Ice Shard / Hyper Voice / Hail

Regalecida (F) Marvel Scale

Status: Eyeing her new surroundings.
Commands: Aqua Ring ~ Ice Beam x2

With Surabaya’s defeat, a suitable replacement must step forward. After a moment’s thought, Eta Carinae swaps the unconscious Drapion with an alert Milotic, who uncurls herself to get a feel for this bridge. Regalecida considers the tiring Lapras before her, sure that she’ll go down with a good hit. But Nevy, eager to land a hit of her own, quickly shapes her lips into a small O and shoots a thin but sturdy shard of ice, as if blowing a dart. It strikes Regalecida’s scales not particularly hard, but her eyes widen nonetheless as an uncomfortable chill spreads out from the point of impact. Clearly, she realizes, they are not playing by ordinary rules here, so she’d better prepare herself for whatever else should come. With a thought, she shapes thin ribbons of water out of thin air, letting the little streams caress her body and ease her pain ever so slightly. One of her long hair-fin things snakes its way into the bag tied around her neck, fetching a tiny portion of fruit and popping it into her mouth.

Knowing she doesn’t have much more opportunity to make her mark, Nevy spits out another Ice Shard, grinning at her opponent’s discomfort. Far from amused, Regalecida decides to put the Lapras out of her misery. A ball of arctic energy coalesces in her mouth, and then she launches it forward in the form of a wintry beam that smashes into Nevy. The effect is immediate: Nevy stiffens at the sudden surge of cold as it washes through her body in a way that’s both unfamiliar and unpleasant. Overwhelmed by exhaustion and the shock of her own element being turned against her, she struggles to keep herself upright, but quickly collapses in an unconscious heap. She and her Snowball are swiftly recalled; Regalecida nods to herself in approval, nibbling some more on her snacks.

Alright, let's see what we can do.

Lead off with a Toxic. If Taylor decides to Protect, Magic Coat, or is definitely unhittable for some other reason, go with Coil. Stretch out your snakey muscles. Next go for a Scald, then follow with a Hidden Power to see if we get at all lucky. Again, if your target is unhittable on one of those actions, use Coil, unless you've used it already. In that case, Rain Dance on the second, Safeguard on the third.

Toxic/Coil ~ Scald/Coil/Rain Dance ~ Hidden Power/Coil/Safeguard

Let's see what we can do here. Lead with an Icy Wind to give us the speed advantage. If it hit, follow up by using Me First to copy the Scald and then stealing her Leftovers on the last action - ditch your Expert Belt, preferably over the bridge so she can't get at it easily. If Icy Wind on the first action missed, though, let's just go for damage with a Knock Off and then try for a Fire Blast, I guess.

Icy Wind ~ Me First / Knock Off ~ Thief (keep Leftovers) / Fire Blast

Round Five

Keldeo (xO)
absolexpert-belt
Taylor (F) Pressure
Health: 100%
Energy: 100%
Status: Ready for action.
Commands: Icy Wind ~ Me First / Knock Off ~ Thief (keep Leftovers) / Fire Blast

Eta Carinae (xO)
miloticleftovers
Regalecida (F) Marvel Scale
Health: 90%
Energy: 90%
Status: Just going with the flow. Soothed by Aqua Ring (1% health/action).
Commands: Toxic/Coil ~ Scald/Coil/Rain Dance ~ Hidden Power/Coil/Safeguard

In a flash, Nevy’s second materializes on the bridge. Taylor, sniffing at the moisture in the air, frowns a little, not liking the uncanny energy that pervades the arena; her claws cut gouges into the snow scattered across the wood as she watches Regalecida with narrowed eyes. Regalecida, though, simply stares back, waiting to see what this fearsome newcomer plans to do first. So Taylor obliges, though she takes a quick moment to “taste” the nature of this strange energy, where right is wrong and wrong is right. She exhales softly, releasing a gust of frigid wind that settles uncomfortably on her opponent’s scales. Regalecida shivers, still not quite used to the creeping chill being so bothersome. Working past the creeping numbness, she hawks up a gross concoction of toxins; Taylor almost manages to dive out of the way, but the Toxic still splatters against her leg, seeping insidiously into her system.

Quiet descends upon the bridge. Each Pokemon watches the other intently. After a bit, Regalecida sighs, figuring that she might as well get in a good hit while Taylor is waffling around. Within her, water starts to boil and she prepares to spew it at SURPRISE TAYLOR IS GOING FIRST THIS TIME WITH A JET OF HOT STUFF TO REGALECIDA’S FACE. The Milotic hisses, cringing from the intense heat, but manages to land her own hit in retaliation. Taylor growls in displeasure, shaking the water out of her coat, though she still feels rather damp. Both Pokemon, though tender, are at least glad not to be burned.

Taylor’s mouth draws up to the side as her eyes strain to see her horn. Whose bright idea was it to convince her to tie that belt around it and let it wave around like a dumb flag, huh? So, as she leaps at Regalecida with pilfering intent, she gives her head a quick shake, sending the Expert Belt flying over the side of the bridge. She snatches the Leftovers bag right off Regalecida’s neck, securing it within her thick chest fur. Regalecida, lashing her tail in irritation, taps into her inner power, drawing it forth into shimmering orbs that manifest around her in erratic orbit. The orbs fade from bright white to a shifting, jagged pattern of brown and gray, and as they collide with Taylor she swears she can hear the very distant clattering of a rockslide. Rather than outwardly acknowledges this, she pops a snack into her mouth, too pleased with Regalecida’s annoyed look to pay attention to the faint queasiness to her gut.

Keldeo (xO)

Taylor (F) Pressure
Health: 83%
Energy: 86%
