"The humans of this world are weak.", the annihilan said, "They have never known war. They possess no weapons. They rely on another race altogether to fight. The time to strike is now, when they are still reeling from our destruction of two of their landmasses."

"Perhaps, Mongrethod.", the nathrezim replied, "However, the survivors have crowded onto this continent. These creatures the humans use in combat, these Pokemon, are fierce beings. In fact, I believe some might be repurposed for our grand design. In any case, I have already begun the infiltration of this land, and I am on the verge of spreading a similar plague as we wrought upon Lordaeron. Give us time, and the humans shall be totally helpless."

"Rarggh, I hope you do not dissapoint us, then, Aramachus.", the large demon, Mongrethod, replied, "Otherwise, we will all pay dearly."

The link was then abruptly severed. Aramachus turned and looked around the room he stood in. A mirror hang on one wall. Of course, Aramachus didn't look like a nathrezim, a dread lord, at the moment. He appeared as a human. Not just any human, though, the strongest on this island they called Dewford. He lead a 'gym', some sort of spot for competitive fighting. And they called him Brawly.

"Hahaha... We are the next big wave, aren't we?", Aramachus said.

---

"Have you got a reason to keep me locked up in here yet, human?", Kathris asked of the jailer.

"I've been told not to say a thing.", the guardsman replied, "However, you're not of this world, right? Well, we're being invaded by beings or something from another world. Can't trust outsiders."

"You would compare me to those hideous demons?", Kathris shot back, rather disgusted, "You know nothing of the Legion. My native world has been invaded three times before, and I've fought the demons twice. I know what you're up against. I can certainly help."

"I can't set you free unless my superior says so.", the guard flatly replied, "That's the end of that."

The Golurk known as Olmak landed on the hilltop with a jarring thud. His passenger didn't move an inch upon impact - he was far too used to such hits.

After all, Tobias "Jackal" Akarou had traveled with Olmak for upwards of twenty years - it would be strange for him not to be surprised by the impact that the Golurk made when it landed.

Surveying the ruined landscape beneath him, Tobias could only again marvel at how quickly the legion moved and how much destruction they could sow in such short of time. The blasted land was once the beautiful world that was Verdanturf, after all.

Casually, the corrupted man dropped a pokeball, and the Scolipede dubbed Crast unfolded from its curled-up state. A second pokeball deployed the Eelektross named Volitak.

"We have work to be done," he said to the three pokemon, "Legion members told me of rumors regarding a few rogue trainers in the surrounding area. It is simply our job to... take care of them."

Volitak growled once Tobias finished the order. "You object?"

"Sir, our skills are being wasted on this sort of riffraff. Small, surgical strikes against trainers are hardly-"

Crast shot Volitak a look filled with about as much venom as his stingers. Volitak growled again, and started to gather electricity.

"Both of you, calm down," Tobias said sharply, "I agree that work the likes of this is far beneath us, but any opportunity to find a worthy opponent will be welcomed, even only slightly. I would like to hope that they are having so much difficulty against this small output of trainers because they are worthy opponents. I hope to be right.

"Either way, this should give at least two of you a chance to stretch out your claws again, as it were."

Keeping a hold on his hat, Tobias grinned. "Now let's not hear any more complaints until after we've dealt with this enemy, shall we?"

Volitak nodded grudgingly.

"Good. Now let's move out."

Hunter let his other two Pokemon out when Drake had landed against the ruined surface on the western area of Route 117. The Manectric named Aju and Umbreon dubbed D.J. were far from happy; they had been contained within their PokeBalls for over 24 hours.

"I'm sorry guys, but traveling through Verdanturf alone was the best option, and, hey, we didn't get caught. Now, let's eat some lunch, alright?" Hunter stated. He was trying his best to not be pessimistic at the moment, something of which almost never happened.

As the time of their meal elongated, Aju noticed some clouds forming in the sky near their location. Hunter, you idiot. There's a storm coming, and we need to take shelter. the Manectric angrily muttered. Her dismal attitude was of no surprise to Hunter, as her nature was often negative. And so, without a word, the black-haire teenager arose and began to clean up the small area they had eaten over.

Drake flew Hunter and the other two, in their PokeBalls, on a short flight to a small crevice, where a fire was prepared by the same Dragonite that had flown them there.

You know they're out there in hiding, right? the Umbreon said after a short moment of silence. We'll be lucky if we aren't interrupted during our slumber. Hunter said nothing to this comment; he simply sighed and rolled over onto his sleeping bag, where the boy soon fell asleep.

Hunter knows these things, you two. whispered the Dragonite known as Drake to the other two Pokemon. We've already faced enough dangers today, and to think that we'll be hindered during our rest is just unnerving. The other two had not adapted to this side of Drake since he was usually a more optimistic being at heart.

Eventually all were in their dreams. At this time, they all wished that dreams could once, for just one moment, be a reality.

Shadow watched the group from te shadows as they settled to sleep. As he watched he was worried they would see him, as a houndoom he is hated and often attack because is demonicish appearance.

He let out a soft sigh, "look at them all, so close and caring," he said quietly to himself,"like a family."
At this point a tear flowed out his only remaining eye. Family, something he never had. He watched them one-by-one fall asleep and after watching for a little more fell asleep himself. If he were die now it would be fine, he could see again, love again, and be reunited with his family, his mate, and his pups.

Kali, a large but relatively young Flygon, landed down upon a cliff along Route 111 just north of Mauville City, looking around at the rocky, dry terrain around. This was a designated meeting location that she had worked out with a particular human that she had met earlier, an archaelogist by the name of Jericoh. This was something they had worked out on their first run-in with each other. After a long discussion, Kali had been willing to let Jericoh keep his life and freedom, even her little sister, Karactus, but in return, she wanted him to keep track of events in the human world... be a kind of 'spy' for her. These meetings were set up so that he could give her his reports once a month.

Lately, however, the news had been grim. The Flygons themselves had seen the burning sky, and while the demons hadn't reached nearly deep enough to be interacting with her nation, she and others knew it would likely only be a matter of time before whatever happened affected them. Last month, her greatest fears had been realized. She found out that the continent of Kanto-Johto was under seige by mysterious, magical, and gruesome forces... forces that could potentially throw a knot in the power structure of the world. The humans seemed to be their main targets. This was a great disaster... but potentially an opportunity. Kali awaited word from Jericoh on what the current state of the war was, what happened to Kanto-Johto...

Amanda was battling a random kid on the beach at Slateport. The girl threw out a huntail, on land, and she threw out he Braviary, Wargle.
My, my. the bird mused. What have we here, a fish out of water?
"Just do the usual." Amanda commanded ((holy shit I rhyme!))
As you wish. the warbird replied, racing forward and grabbing the huntail by its face in his talons, then flew upward. Have a taste of my SKY DROP!!! he exclaimed as he dropped the fish, and it tumbled face-first to the ground.
"HUNTAIL NOOO!!!" screamed as it fianted.
"Your level's too low..." Amanda replied as she returned Wargle.

Cyrus glanced lazily around Slateport. "This may very well be pointless." He told Balien. The Lucario only nodded to acknowledge this. It was Balien who convinced him to come. Now, at least Cyrus had someone to blame when they both got killed as a result of this ridiculous attempt at survival.

He leaned against the Pokemon Center's wall, closing his eyes to think for a moment. I've only ever heard news stories of these strange invaders... Demons... But I know I certainly stand no chance against them... Balien might, but that would be a stretch...

Axe stood by the tree skeletons and shuddered. The buildings were not large, although they were still fairly intimidating. Axe disliked anything that had to do with humans; they always did crazy things she couldn't understand that they clearly knew would bring the world closer to destruction. Some people believed the world would randomly explode one day, but Axe was not one of those "believers." If anything, the world would be brought slowly to ruin by the actions of the foolish humans who believed they could control anything.

Of course, if she went and destroyed the city, it would solve her problem a little, but only by a fraction. And then she would technically be sided with those things that had continued to destroy all life around them.

As she scanned the area with her crimson eyes, she noticed a human standing with a Lucario near the Pokémon Center. It didn't seem average - he seemed to have a purpose being there, as if he was waiting for something. Axe wasn't normally the curious type, but something told her to check it out. She didn't have a type disadvantage against the Pokémon or anything, so what could go wrong?

She could get caught. She didn't want to be with a human - she wanted to stay where she was in the wild. But if she didn't investigate something, she'd have ridden on the stupid boat for nothing.

Deciding that she might as well try something, the Fraxure began to lumber towards the red-roofed building. She knew how to take care of herself... mostly.

A Fraxure, huh? That's interesting... How did it end up here? Cyrus stared at the approaching Pokemon with half-interest. Balien's eyes were also drawn over. "I don't suppose this is an acquaintance of yours?" He asked.

"If it is, I certainly don't remember." The Lucario answered.

Haru had arrived in Slateport early, making sure that she could gather with all the others who were willing to fight the strange enemies that had destroyed Kanto and Johto. She had Pokemon from those regions, but had never personally traveled there; still, she was willing to battle this strange enemy because she was confident. Sometimes she could be overconfident, and this was definitely a big step. But she also believed in her Pokemon... Hopefully they believed in her.

She was sitting on the beach next to the spot that used to be a shack related to Soda Pop in some way. Next to her was her faithful Mightyena who had been with her for many years. The Trainer was relatively calm, and just looking around, while the Pokemon seemed anxious. Runa was mostly standing there, though sometimes she paced for a few seconds at a time to get some extra energy out. Her Trainer was mostly just looking for other people who might be here for the same purpose as her. Haru knew that more Trainers than just her had been called to the Hoenn region. Would it be useful to get to know them?

As Amanda rested with Wargle, she remembered being called there.

"Do you think anyone else got the call??" she inquired.

"Hmmm, probably, but I wonder if we'll meet them." he replied dryly.

Escavalier let himself out and retorted to Wargle, "Probably not. I still don't like it here. Unova is much better than this mess." he said in his raspy metallic voice.

"Such a pessimist. Cheer up sunshine." Wargle chided at he hit Escavalier with his wing, tipping him and knocking his helmet sideways.

Axe frowned. The human and his Pokémon did appear clueless, but something told her she was supposed to be here. Wasn't this some sort of gathering place she had planned to arrive at? Isn't that why she took the boat? Still, it was better to stay away from humans until she knew exactly what in the world she was doing and who she would be traveling with for a while, if anyone. Personally, she wanted to go wherever alone, but she could stand being with a group. As long as they didn't lag behind or leave her behind.

Axe took a step back, grunting dismissively and resting her limbs. Maybe she had remembered something wrong and come here on accident.

Speaking of which, she was hungry. She hadn't eaten for two days now. Perhaps she could find some berries to eat if she went back toward the trees. Decisively she proceeded away from Slateport slowly, keeping her eyes on the ground. She could watch for other Pokémon at the same time, but only in her peripheral vision, and even then she could think that a tree branch was a living thing.

Waking up late, as usual, Jericoh rushed out of his home in Lavaridge Town to meet with Kali, a flygon he acquaints with, who also happens to be the sister of his Vibrava, Karactus. Reaching the Route 111 desert, he soon saw her. Now only to get to her, all the way up at the top of that ledge there...

jericoh's first inclination was to have his Claydol, Bes, float him to the top, but Jericoh decided that today was a good day for climbing. Starting with his hands, and of course followed directly by his feet, Jericoh quickly scaled up to about halfway, where he almost fell. A rock had come loose from underneath his foot. Startled, Jericoh let go, and fell a great distance to the ground, where he lay for a good deal of time. With a mighty flash, Bes came out of his pokeball.

"Bes," Jericoh grunted and groaned before going on. "Please float me to Kali, so we may converse with her. And quick should be the pace of our assent, as we are late to begin with." Bes complied, successfully lifting his master the distance to Kali's location. Being placed gently on his feet, Jericoh greeted his wild companion. "Hey there, Kali," he started, "What would you like to know today?"

Kali chuckled as she watched the human struggling to come up to her. Other humans occasionally walked by along the bottom of the chasm, but rarely did they look up. Hence the reasoning for meeting above rather than below. As she saw him being lifted up by his Claydol, the Flygon smirked and called out to him. "You know, you could have just asked me if you needed a ride..." She sat down when Jericho finally was placed down on the ground before her, and she leaned forward to look eye to eye with him. "Well, my human friend, I'm sure you can guess what I'm interested in. What news do you have to share with me about the invading aliens? How are the nations of Kanto and Johto standing up? And what is your nation of Hoenn planning to do to counter the threat? I'm interested in... observing the discussions and planning in this respect.

Something caught shadows attention, out in the distance he saw a trainer with their mightyena at the beach, the trainer was calm but the pokon seemed on edge. They appeared to both be female but with his failing eyesight he couldn't really tell and his dark aura sight couldn't reach that far, but he was sure the strange pokemon wandering his way was definatly female and could hold her own so he thought best not to be rude to her though he wasn't really rude to anyone he saw as an ally or friend.
