Byrus vs. Kratos Aurion

Style: Set
DQ: 10 days
Damage Cap: None
Banned Moves: OHKO's, weather moves, attract, pain split, destiny bond, perish song, leech seed, paralyzing moves (moves that can indirectly cause paralysis, like thunderbolt, are ok). Chills are limited to 2/pokémon, direct healing moves are banned. Indirect healing moves can be used, but they will only inflict damage and not heal any health.
Arena: The Garbage sea

Living up to its name, the garbage sea is what seems like an endless mass of filthy garbage, stretching as far as the eye can see. The foul stench given up by the reeking mass of waste has a 15% chance of completely overwhelming a battler, causing them to waste an action retching and struggling to regain control of themselves. This can only happen a total of three times to the same Pokémon, after that, the Pokémon gets used to the smell. This doesn't affect poison types, ghost types and robotic Pokémon like Porygon. Baby Pokémon have a higher chance of being affected by it. (up to the ref to decide how much)
The battle itself takes place on a huge metal platform, which is sturdy enough to hold a Pokémon of any weight. Railings surround the platform so nobody can fall off too easily, not unless they're thrown over. If a Pokémon lands in the garbage, it sustains moderate damage (up to the ref to judge) and is tossed roughly back onto the platform by a junkyard monster lurking in the rancid mess.
The sky overhead is gloomy and dark, but sheds enough light for the battlers to see by. It appears strangely resistant to any attempts to change it however.

Byrus's active squad:

[Yami] Houndour (Female)
Ability: Flash fire

[Ruaig] Stunky (Male)
Ability: Stench
Body mod: Stunky has taken a Levitation Course.
For pokemon that weigh up to 100 lbs (~45 kg), levitation will cost 2% energy per action to maintain. For pokemon between 101 lbs and 250 lbs (~113 kg) it will cost 3% per action to maintain, and for pokemon 251 lbs to 440 lbs (~200 kg), it will cost 4% energy to maintain levitation. Levitation enables pokemon to reach a height no greater than 2 m, and has the visual effect of being in a state with no gravitational pull towards the earth. Pokemon who undergo this training will be classified as Consensually Levitating Pokemon. This is a two-day course, and pokemon will need to be picked up before battle.
Fighting- or Bug-type pokemon will expend an extra 2% energy to levitate, as they have less affinity with psychic energy. Psychic-type pokemon will expend 1% less energy.

...but that was part of why I took this battle I put her in my profile special and everything D:

Nah, there's other stuff I can use. Like Regal. Let's give Regal something to do, he's been sitting around for long enough.

Alrighty then, auto-nidoking, let's keep this simple to start with. Thunderbolt, ice beam and shock wave. If Ruaigh uses protect or otherwise can't be hit (save for substitutes, which should be shot on sight) on any given action, focus energy the first time and do nothing any time after that.

Thunderbolt/Focus Energy ~ Ice Beam/Focus Energy/Nothing ~ Shock Wave/Focus Energy/Nothing

Well, this should be an explosive first round. I totally had the right idea when I went with no damage caps, heh.

OK Ruaig, start by dishing out a sucker punch to lower his guard a bit, then follow up with some dark pulses.

Sucker punch ~ Dark pulse ~ Dark pulse

The only sound for miles is the buzz of a small cloud of flies, milling about the seemingly endless sea of trash in search of one or two scraps of anything edible that hasn't decomposed yet. A few disturbances in the surface here and there break the collective droning sound of their wings as some indescribably hideous beast sneaks directly beneath the unsuspecting insects before it leaps up and swallows the entire swarm whole.

Meanwhile, above them, a large platform made up of a patchwork of various pieces of metal once thought to be worth absolutely nothing stands tall, firmly supported by pillars at each corner made up of the wreckage of the old ASB Central Bank. The edge of this surprisingly stable structure is surrounded by a crudely constructed railing, obviously made hastily after many complaints from battlers who have nearly fallen off during their (usually brief) rest stops here.

Today's visitors to the platform have no intention of being brief. As the league-provided Aerodactyl lands, all three people aboard rush to the rail to barf. The stench is only worse there, so once they are all done, they recall the plastic wrapped, mint scented nose plugs they each purchased before coming, and put them on before they begin to vomit again.

The referee returns his rented Aerodactyl to her ball, and signals the trainers to take their positions and release their Pokemon. Byrus releases a purple skunk pokemon with a tan stripe going down his back. What's curious about the Stunky is the fact that it appears to be effortlessly floating an entire foot off the platform. Kratos, unperturbed by Ruaig's magic act, sends out a light purple, quadrupedal pokemon with a row of spikes going down his back. The Nidorino is far more impressed with his floating opponent than his trainer, doing a double take to make sure he didn't get released in the way of a Confuse Ray (not that he would realize it if he was). After Byrus shouts a few words to his Pokemon about showing off, the Stunky's feet touch the ground again, and the referee waves a small flag that gives the battlers the signal to attack.

-ROUND ONE-

Ruaig makes the first move, although it isn't much. It starts to pace patiently in a circle, as if waiting for some unknown signal. Regal is slightly curious what his opponent could have in mind, but he's not one to look a gift horse in the mouth: this is an excellent opportunity to strike. He begins to charge a large bolt of electricity between his spines. He can almost feel small static charges arc across his back when Ruaig makes his real move. The Nidorino is completely unprepared as the Stunky darts toward him from the side at lightning speed, slashing wildly at his ribs.

Regal looks away from the deep gashes on his side to find which part of the platform his opponent has retreated to. He tries to fire his Thunderbolt on sight, only to realize that the charge he'd built up accidentally discharged on some passing fly. No matter, he simply builds it back up, this time much at a much faster pace. The jolt is built up in a matter of seconds, and it surges forward along the Nidorino's spine, and leaps forward from his horn, striking the Stunky in the exact spot he had sucker punched Regal.

[Ruaig- HP: 91%, PP: 93%] [Regal Bryant- HP: 90%, PP: 95%]

Ruaig licks at the small scorch mark where he was shocked. He looks back up at the Nidorino, and begins to think horrible thoughts. Terrifying, unpronounceable words begin to fill his head that no doubt convey such hatred that even if human lips could form them it would be inappropriate enough to place them here that anyone would be fired for doing so. It's clear when these ideas are expelled, as a wave of energy can be seen making ripples in what little dust there is left settled. No matter how prepared against these sort of thoughts Regal tries to make himself, it's not nearly enough for the sheer horror of having these sort of thoughts directed purely at him. The arena falls silent as the dark pulse dissipates, all the flies within earshot dead. The mortified Nidorino responds with a dropped jaw. He directs all blood flow far away from his mouth, and manipulates the temperature around him to fall far below zero. Icicles begin to form on his teeth when a bright, baby blue ball of energy forms between his jaws, slowly growing in size. Once the orb gets too big to fit in Regal's mouth, a bright white beam shoots out of its center, the force of which drags several bits of ice with it. The ice beam smacks right into Ruaig's face, coating the skunk-like pokemon's entire body in a paper-thin sheet of ice that is easily shaken right off.

[Ruaig- HP: 88%, PP: 88%] [Regal Bryant- HP: 75%, PP: 90%]

As Ruaig breaks the ice off of his body, he begins to think some more very evil thoughts about just what he could do to his enemy, and while they're at least pronounceable and not nearly as horrible as last time, the ref would still run the risk of getting fired if he were to repeat them. Just as the dust that was shaken up from the last attack begins to fall back down, it is flung every which way again by the ripples of malicious energy that forces Regal to close his eyes and try to think happy thoughts. It doesn't help much. After shaking his head several times, the Nidorino manages to ignore the fact that all of these horrible things his mind has been assaulted with are meant specifically for him, and begins to build up a charge in his back spikes. Once finished, he discharges the electricity in every direction possible. While he didn't actually see it happen, he's absolutely certain Ruaig was struck by at least one of the many arcs of electricity that spread across the platform, a thought that comforts him greatly.

-ROUND TWO-

Ruaig snickers a little to keep himself from being overly shaken from the last shock, finding the thought of his condition in relation to Regal's comforting. Suddenly, the sun becomes inexplicably dimmer in preparation for the dark type's attack, and it's difficult to see very far beyond the platform. Both the Nidorino and his trainer try to keep their eye on Ruaig, but to no avail. The Stunky is too attuned to the night time for them to keep track of him in the shadows. The light returns to normal just as he launches his attack from behind, slashing with great precision at the still-red gashes on Regal's flank. The Nidorino wastes no time in response, turning about so quickly one would think he'd seen a ghost. Ruaig attempts to make a last-minute retreat, but while he is a bit faster than his opponent, he fails to react soon enough to escape the powerful, energized bite that soon follows. With fangs sunk deep into his furry hide, he feels an enormous amount of power surge into the wound, sending nearly every nerve ending on the Stunky's body into a frenzy. After a bit of thrashing about for his own amusement, Regal releases the skunk pokemon to tend to his own injuries, both sides feeling immensely drained from the experience.

[Ruaig- HP: 41%, PP: 79%] [Regal- HP: 57%, PP: 71%]

Ruaig hastily takes the cover of darkness after getting out of range of Regal's jaws. Despite his deep wounds, he easily manages to escape his would-be assailant's sight, all the while maneuvering into a position to slash at the fresh wounds on his side. All the while, the Nidorino doesn't even attempt to keep track of its enemy once the lights go out, instead taking the opportunity to begin storing an electrical charge amongst his back spikes. A few brief flashes of light that accompany the power arcing from one spine to another give him a split second to react to the Stunky darting straight at his side. The pain of Ruaig's sharp claws slicing the his cut open further causes him to discharge his thunderbolt before he has time to aim it properly, and it releases in several different directions, one of them, fortunately for him, being Ruaig's face. The sudden exchange makes both combatants jump back several feet from each other, just as the sun returns to its normal luminosity.

[Ruaig- HP: 32%, PP: 74%] [Regal- HP: 49%, PP: 66%]

It's somewhat difficult to see that the Stunky has opened its mouth, with both its face and mouth pitch black, but Regal manages to tell. If he were up close to them, he would be able to see that the teeth (which are surprisingly large and menacing for such a small species of pokemon) now appear to be burning, for lack of a better term, a dark gray. He doesn't get to see, though, because by the time he's close enough to be able, Ruaig has darted forward and sunk them deep into the monstrous rabbit's right foreleg. The dark energy that surrounded them has dissipated, and in its place is an excruciating burning sensation that runs all through Regal's leg. It's all in his head, of course, but he's not aware and nearly forgets about his final action.
Taking advantage of his opponent's close proximity, the Nidorino secretes a mild mixture of drugs through his tongue and licks his lips. He puckers up and, with a moment's hesitation as he recalls the Stunky's gender, plants a kiss on Ruaig's forehead. It lasts for a few brief moments to allow the drug mixture to permeate the target's charred fur and skin, but it seems like ages for Regal- not because of Ruaig's gender, but because, in his humble opinion, any move that involves kissing the enemy simply should not be. Fortunately he does not have to deal with the pointing and laughing reaction he expected, as the drugs promptly send the skunk pokemon off to a land of gumdrops and sugarplums, and his jaws release the large chunk of leg they had between them without protest.

Thanks.

Okay, Regal. All Ruaigh will be able to do for a while is sleep talk, snore or chill, so let's try to end this quickly. Ice beam, thunderbolt and ice beam again. Unfortunately Ruaigh is faster than you are, so it's possible that sleep talk might call a move like protect that prevents you from hitting him (or maybe he'll just wake up and do the same thing, meh). If so, and if that move is not substitute, defense curl if you can't hit him on the first action, focus energy if you can't hit him on the second and defense curl again if you can't hit him on the third. Lastly, if he uses explosion, protect. You probably won't have much time to react if sleep talk calls one of those moves, but try anyway, mkay?

Hrmm, I suppose we'll go with snore and hope we can at least disrupt his attacks somewhat. Hey, worth a shot. If you do happen to wake up, deliver a night slash right at his eyes.

-ROUND THREE-

Even once the referee has finally woken up from his month-long coma, all stays silent on the platform, as the garbage monster has long since fallen asleep, and, miraculously, not one fly has had the balls to return to the area to repopulate*. Regal could get used to this, really. It's quite peaceful. He's just about to doze off when, completely out of the blue, Ruaig starts snoring. Loudly. The change in noise level is so jarring that everyone, even the trainer that issued the command (although he wasn't quite so sure he'd heard...), jumps back at least three feet. Unfortunately for Regal, this means he's just smacked the leg the skunk Pokemon was gnawing on into the guard rail, sending a wave of pain shooting along his body. It passes fairly quickly, however, and he manages to shove it into the back of his mind as he prepares his next attack.
It has been quite some time since he last did so, but he distinctly remembers going through these same motions: drawing all the blood away from his jaws, forming a light blue ball of pure cold (however the hell that worked he would never quite figure out (like every physicist ever)), and forcing it to fire off a glowing beam flecked with a few bits of ice. The entropy-defying beam hits the still-snoozing Stunky dead on, freezing a few bits of hair together.

[Ruaig- HP: 23% PP: 66%][Regal- HP: 33% PP: 60%]

Ruaig begins to stir from his sleep, the impact of the Ice Beam being comparable to someone quickly removing one's blanket in the dead of winter. He doesn't quite wake up- he was in a very deep sleep, after all- but so much as a tap on the corrugated iron anywhere near him would get him up. Knowing this, nearly everyone remains completely silent. I say nearly because Ruaig himself does not. Yet again, he starts snoring incredibly loud. Regal and the trainers are not quite as disturbed by the volume of the noise this time, however the Stunky is, literally jumping out of his sleep. Regal takes the opportunity to fire off a large bolt of electricity in his opponent's direction, with a bit more speed this time due to having done so numerous times over the course of the battle.

[Ruaig- HP: 14% PP: 63%][Regal- HP: 29% PP: 54%]

Ruaig might have been glad to have received the shock had it not been so painful; it had otherwise given him the jolt he needed to keep going, much like a fresh cup of coffee. He was, however, still stiff from his month-long nap and sore from wounds taken beforehand, and was amazed by the fact that he could still manage to walk, much less slink quietly into an artificial shade. He managed though, and rushed up behind his opponent, slashing at his side with surprising precision. Regal turns around to face the skunk Pokemon almost instantly, blood already drained from his jaws. The sky blue orb of cold energy reaches the appropriate size fairly quickly, and the beam hits Ruaig head on, forming a thin layer of ice on his back that quickly melts away.

-ROUND FOUR-

"Explosion."

Regal knew little English. That is to say, he knew enough to understand his trainer's commands. "Explosion" didn't immediately ring any bells, however, it didn't really need to; the simple fact that everyone hit the deck as soon as it was uttered was all he needed to know. His trainer had hardly uttered the word "endure" before he began to hunch up and brace himself for the coming assault, his focus so great it somehow managed to manifest itself as a faint blue glow around him.
Ruaig, caring little for Regal's show of willpower, made a quick about-face, raised his tail up high, and, posterior exposed, began building up his body's natural methane in his rear. A boring and chilly process, given the sudden breeze that had recently picked up, but worth it for all the excitement it gives. Once complete, Ruaig, instead of releasing the gases in a steady stream as he would for a Flamethrower, simply ignited the gases while still inside him. The blast erupted violently from him, and in the ensuing smoke, little could be seen. Once it had cleared, the devastation was... puzzling. The rails around the edge had been blown clean off on Ruaig's end of the platform, and a good deal of the sheet metal where the Stunky had once stood was now flung on the trash below, with the edges of the newly formed holes melted slightly. And, defying all logic, all participants were in one piece, if in varying states of consciousness. The trainers were both miraculously fine, and the referee is soon back on his feet. Regal was still standing, if severely battered and worn down, and Ruaig lay charred and unmoving several meters from where he first went "boom."

After making certain that he was quite alive, Byrus recalled his Stunky, and began to think over whom to use next.

A shriek arises from all directions, seeming to emanate from the shadows themselves. Regal nervously backs away from the keystone, but a shadowy arm emerges from the metal platform and punches the Nidorino. As Tak rematerializes, Regal reels from the blow and falls to the floor, unconscious.
