Genetic Perfection [Open]

Coloursfall

THIS IS HOW WE BLEED
500 Years Ago, mankind discovered the universe around them.

400 Years Ago, was the first contact with alien life.

300 Years Ago, mankind began serious experimenting with the human genome.

200 Years Ago, the first space colony was established.

100 Years Ago, genetic engineering was perfected.

And 50 years ago...he was born.

He is the master of the DNA helix, a genetic wizard. He's been creating human beings to the specifications of his customers for nearly 30 years, and never once has he made a mistake. He can make a human being to the exact specifications given, right down to the tiniest detail. He is one of the richest men alive, proof of his skill. He has a lab the size of a small space colony, and the best equipment. Nearly every human being knows his name - hell, he created half of them.

They know him as a sharp-dressed and intelligent man, who knows just what to say and do, no matter what. A genius. A media darling. He can do no wrong, this mighty creator of men.

But we know better.

We know what lurks behind that charming facade, the madman that the 'genetic wizard' really is. He's curious. He wants to improve humanity. Wants to see how it all works, if he can control it... And we are the test subjects.

Bred in his labs and trained from birth to love and adore him, all spark of rebellion crushed before it can start. Or so he thinks; some of us refuse to be brainwashed, but what can we do? There's nowhere to go. And so we remain, bred like dogs to see all the different ways our genetics can combine, carefully tracking our pedigrees, for all of those thirty years he worked here.

If you're female and older than thirteen, you are likely pregnant or have several children already. Males over the same age have likely sired at least one child. He usually makes sure that siblings or parent and child don't mate, but sometimes...

We have lived like this for a long time, not daring speak out against him. Until, one day, a single, shaking voice was raised in the silence. A young teen, no older than seventeen, questioned our 'beloved' master. Not to his face, oh no...but to us, the masses.

And so the seed was planted. It is up to us to free ourselves.

Name: Josef ("Jacob")
Age: 17
Gender: Male

Appearance: Scruffy blonde hair that sticks up in odd places, large blue eyes and a big nose, a bit on the tall side and rather scrawny, though he looks as though if given the chance he could develop a decently toned body.

History: Is primarily being bred to test the heredity of mental illness, as he is a moderate (occasionally severe) case of schizophrenia. It's funny then, that the very illness that caught the breeder's eye allowed him to see past the years of conditioning and brainwashing and act on it... One particular episode was so intense, so vivid, promising a world and existence outside of living in a human puppy mill that it was almost prophetic... He'd never been the most outgoing boy, but he couldn't ignore it anymore.

Personality: Shy and sweet most of the time, he's also rather scatterbrained and awkward, in no small part due to his illness. He can seem floaty and disconnected, but he does genuinely care about the others and wants everyone to be safe and happy at last. All this revelation has also given him a bit of a cynical streak. Also, despite his normally kind nature, his anger can be a bit... explosive and violent.

Other: He's the "shaking voice" that was raised.

Name:Meinard A.K.A. Macro

Age: 17

Gender:Male

Appearance: Macro is of average height and build for his age with somewhat pale skin. His eyes gleam with their emerald green color. Due to being near sighted, he wears square rimmed glasses that are often covered by his black and shaggy hair. Do to a strange imperfection, his eyes glow red at night, as well as strange black circles that appear on his hands.

History: Macro was made to see how well the doctor could change the personality of a person through DNA and got him as a failed result. The doctor still hasn't decided what to do with him now. He believes that one day, he will be in charge of the doctor's operation. But until then, Macro tries to assist the doctor with menial tasks in hopes he can learn and become smarter than the others. But on the inside, he despises him, believing that if anyone gets to play "God", it should be him.

Unfortunately, he was forced to stay with a bunch of the doctors other creations in the strange place, making it difficult for him to ever get into the lab where the magic happens. But when one of the others there spoke up, Macro thought of it as a chance to eliminate the doctor and take his place. Except, he would make a being better than a human could be and surpass the doctor.

Personality: Macro is a jerk with a superiority complex. He believes that no one is better than him and that he should be treated that way. Because of this, he cares for no one but himself and if he gets someone killed, their loss. He will resort to any means necessary to get what he wants, as long as it doesn't have any negative drawbacks for himself.

His life is all that matters to him and he could care less what happens to others.

He has one weakness that he doesn't tell anyone. He is actually afraid of blood and practically freaks out near the stuff, even with his cold blooded personality. It isn't like he talks to many insignificant people anyways, but he doesn't want people to catch on to his irrational fear.

Other: He has an annoying habit of spinning a pen around in his fingers.

Name: Likes to be called 'Lii'
Age: 14
Gender: Female

Appearance: Caucasian, she has short chin-length red hair and unique eyes, the iris a blend of green, brown, red, yellow, and blue. She's around 5'4 1/2'' and weighs 98 lbs. She has a full round face and plump lips, a skinny yet curvy frame with wide hips and long limbs. Her fingers are also long, just like the rest of her body. She is, to say the least, a very handsome young woman.

History: Bred as a test to see how much emotion could be shown in a human being. She was specifically bred with more of a chemical imbalance in her brain, thus this is the reason why she is so emotional. When Josef spoke up, she decided that she would join him to try and find a way to become stoic, so that she would never have to feel the pain of extreme emotion again.

Personality: She feels emotion, but only in the extreme. She is either severly depressed, or uncontrollably overjoyed. Shrieking in rage or blubbering in utter confusion. Extremely hyper or unbelievably lazy. Most of the time, she has a sarcastic tone and is quite smart, though sometimes one of the extremes will set in.

Other: Has severe depression and ADD.

Titress: Your personality is okay, but keep in mind that your character is not going to be nearly valued enough by the doctor to be bred as a replacement for him. Your character is just like all the others and is seen as a stud dog at best. Also, in this case, since the doctor is using the characters here as genetic experiments your trait has to be a little more physical, like a genetic disorder or a special mutation (plausible, of course. No X-Men powers or stuff like that.). Coming up with "great ideas" is something that falls a lot within the realm of nurture and the environment one grows up in, and I can assure you this is not an accepting place for free thinking.

NightDaemon: Not bad, and you actually have something neat going here, but keep in mind your character has never left the facility. These are not the same subjects that are being bred and sold by the doctor. These are his own personal projects he keeps behind the scenes, so she would have never known a conductor or anyone other than the other characters. and since character... *ahem* relations are chosen by the doctor and not the players themselves, there would be no Matthew either, nor a specific son to get attached to. And again, no matter what "a great piano player" isn't something that can be bred. Sure, there are traits like an ear for tune and good fast-twitch muscles in the fingers, but actual skill takes nurture and training, and she's not gonna get either of those things here.

Hoping there is still a place available; this Roleplay sounds really good.

Name: Vreni, or simply 'V'.
Age: 24
Gender: Female

Appearance: In possession of a perfect set of child-bearing proportions, V has wide hips and an hourglass figure of sorts, a nicety which is lost both on her and those around her, as they do not conceive of beauty. On her lower stomach are several disfiguring scars from many caesarean births. Her hair is a deep brown, scraggly and over one shoulder most of the time, and her eyes are a recessive, clouded blue, bloodshot and darkened by lack of sleep. V also has slender fingers which she is fascinated by and often absently wrings her hands. Many red marks dot her neck and inner arms from injections. At present, V is heavily with child. She also has never worn shoes of any kind.

History: V is on the older end of the spectrum of test subjects, and over a period of years has surmised that the lack of older subjects means that she does not have much time left before she either dies of physical trauma, or is killed after her usefulness has lived its course. From the age of 12, when her biological self became active, she was made to birth children at a constant rate, generally through artificial insemination of some kind. The physical ramifications of birth for one so young were severe; V came close to death many times.

Unbeknownst to her, she is one of several females bred specifically to have to optimal physical structure for carrying children, proportions and hardiness both. In addition, her internal biological genes are all passive in nature, ensuring that her children will display the characteristics of the sire and not her. In this respect, she is a blank slate to test upon. At 16, V was introduced to proper mating and in the beginning, these perverse intrusions were too much, and her body reacted even when her mind was pacified and blank. Her hoarse shrieks echoed the testing halls for some years. Years passed, and V eventually succumbed to what was inevitable, listening to the children she was carrying being referred to in numerical form only. Things were pushed inside her and she was tested upon, as were the offspring she bore, often whilst she carried them. What might have been embarrassing or humiliating, V did with no care for her own wellbeing. She now has to come to terms with the fact that her life may very soon be over.

Personality: V is a thoroughly broken subject, just as her master would want. She has developed no true personality to speak of and has not reached out to have sufficient contact to do so. After the countless births, she now thinks of herself as a vessel and little more. Pregnancy, to her, comes as easily as breathing or blinking, a subconscious, automatic process that happens without any input from her. Two miscarriages and a stillbirth have left deep scars on her internally and she lives with a daily fear that she harbours something dead inside.

Once, V had tried to fight what was happening around her. But she gave up on that long ago and it was replaced by a hollow acceptance of the inevitable. There is no escape, and making a fuss causes more harm than good. A depression has gripped her that she does not know how to shake, and the looming threat of her apparent demise has brought her to the brink of collapse. V is generally very soft-spoken and keeps to herself, kept around other pregnant females most of the time.

Other: Sometimes, V hears strange noises, screeching and howling in the night, and stays up listening. I suppose V hears test animals, from another part of the station, and having never seen an animal before, would be intrigued.

Titress: Better, and I think the RP having someone who would react in a sort of Starscream-like manner is pretty neat, but again, "Coming up with great ideas" isn't something you can breed for. You have to choose something physical and concrete that doesn't rely at all on conditioning. Once you do that you should be good to go. If it helps, his reason doesn't have to be connected to his personality.

NightDaemon: I like the direction you're going with this, and to add, he could also be using your character for breeding mood disorders. I'd say you're ready. Approved.

Nova Prime: I love this. It's really aware of just how horrific this RP is going to be. Already I really feel for this character and hope she can find freedom from her horrible life. Approved.

Quick question, in reference to our names: would the Master or any of the scientists use the characters names and/or nicknames? Are we perhaps referred to as numbers or something similar? I wondered if 'names' were given to us because they were the character's identification. Just wondering, so I don't get it wrong In Character.

The Master would use your given name; he's the one who assigns them, after all. Nicknames are probably only used by your fellow prisoners.

Titress: Approved, though what your character's being bred for is a little... strange. It's hard to explain why, and it works, I suppose, and since the plot is already in motion it doesn't matter much, though for realism's sake it may be better to go with something that makes a bit more sense given the context. You don't have to if you like what you have, but it's something to think about. You're definitely on the right track, and are good to go as far as actually getting in the RP.

Name: Nico "Nihil"
Age: 14
Gender: Male

Appearance:
Nihil is scrawny, yet rather tall boy. He have long, wavy hair with a solid obsidian colour, and hazel eyes. Or rather, hazel EYE, as his right eye was lost as a part of an "experiment" and he wears an eyepatch over it. In fact, his whole body is covered in scars, in particular his right arm, which is somewhat numb as a whole.

History:
Nihil was bred with a borderline unnatural resistance to physical injuries, increased cell regeneration, and fantastic immune system. As such, he have spent a lot of his being used as a living punching bad, in one way or another. Of course this never increased his pain tolerance, which has generally made the poor boy's life a living hell.

Personality:
Nihil would at first seem the perfect person. He's kind, calm, gentle, respectful and always willing to help. He would never say deny anyone assistance, and often go great lengths to find anything he can help with. Perhaps most admirably, he would never show anyone a sign of dislike, even if they were to kick him in the gut, stab him in the back or push him off a cliff.

In reality, all his smiles and kind words are nothing but decorations painted on a dead shell of a human. While he might have been engineered to be physically tolerable, the same could not be said for his mind. Endless abuse has broken down any kind of real personality that could ever hope to exist within him. Nihil exists for the sake of existing, a punching bag of flesh. His constant search for something he can assist with is nothing but attempts to distract his mind from thinking. Thinking back to the endless hours of suffering he has gone through. He is but a marionette, a puppet that begs to be used, and if you were to snap him out of it you would find that in reality he is nothing but frightened and scarred all the way into the soul.

Other: He does in reality have no idea what the word Nihil means, but he heard it when he was six years old and thought it was a really cool word.

Also out of ideas :U

Cuddles: Your name is Nico

OHHAY ITS MY CHARA. Mein Jody, care to pick it apart?

Name: Eva "Emi"
Age: 15
Gender: Female

Appearance: Emi has long, pitch-lack hair that falls in loose curls to her waist, and dark blue eyes. She is pale and slender, and has a delicate look to her. Her face is round and almost childlike, and her build is fairly small.

History: Emi was bred specially, intended to bear the good Doctor's very own children. She was carefully planned, her parents chosen and bred to ensure her beauty. She was tended to lovingly from birth, something which makes her rather...disliked by the common masses.

She conceived her first child about midway into her 13th year, but lost the baby about six months in. A second attempt was made, but she, yet again, lost the child, this time at four months. The Doctor was not pleased, and he left her in the common quarters with his other specimens while he tried to figure out what was wrong.

Personality: Emi is very quiet, rarely speaking up for herself at all. She trusts easily, her years of care by the Doctor making her placid and easy to control. She firmly believes that the Doctor loves her, and she loves him back, despite the horrors he's put her though. He can do no wrong in her eyes, and she believes that all he does, he does for the greater good.

Other: short form is short :T

Cherry: Aaah, hello Emi~ I like the Stockholm Syndrome angle a lot. I only have one problem with this: If she's so dedicated to the doctor, why would she even be in the group to begin with? Now,I understand you're likely going to answer this in the plot itself, but as of now I'm wondering.

Your given name is Eva.
