Chief Zackrai vs. RK-9

Aethelstan

Murderer of Words
4v4 single
Style: switch
DQ: a week
Damage cap: none
Banned moves: OHKOs, Double team, dig
Arena: MINECRAFT

A mild field that is rather square. The field is actually a large bowl, and you are surrounded by cobble stone on all sides. Every attack that involves striking (Brick Break, punch based moves, Earthquake, Etc.) will break a square of ground, increasing one for each evolutionary stage the pokemon has reached if they hit the ground (you may choose to do this). Other than that, you're pretty much free to do whatever.

Cré, you sé? (ahahahaha)

GO SMUGLEAF. TIME TO SHOW YOUR STUFF.

Start with a Growth, then use Leaf Storm. If it misses, use leaf storm on the 2nd turn. Otherwise use Leaf Blade.

GROWTH~LEAF STORM~LEAF BLADE/LEAF STORM

The rather square sun shines over the rather square world below it. Everything looks perfect, a nice little arena built out of blocks. Two figures appear on the horizon and climb into the pit, Pokeballs in hand. One is Zackrai, who beckons over to the other, RK-9, in a rather imposing manner. Both release a Pokemon, Zackrai with a Baltoy and RK-9 with a Snivy. Having used his sixth sense of detecting oncoming Pokemon battles (that and a quick peek at the Challenge Board) referee Aethelstan was already on his way, drilling into the arena with his Diamond Pickaxe. Looking over at the two ready trainers, Aethelstan declares this battle begun, and soon commands are being issued and Pokemon are readying attacks.

Smugleaf was a tad confused about the first command he had received. He had been told to ‘grow’. Deciding there was nothing else to do but try, he began focusing on streaming his energy to his entire body. Slowly but surely, Smugleaf soon found that he had grown considerably larger, a few inches taller at least, give or take. Cré took quick notice of the change, and immediately began channeling his own energy to compensate for his opponents gain. Summoning the powers of all the planets and stars of the universe, their energy in addition to Cré’s own pumped him up, and before long he was as tough defensively as Smugleaf had become offensively.

Smugleaf was not daunted however, and began his first attack. Using his powers over nature, he surrounded Cré with hundreds of leaves that had strewn from the square trees overhead. Cré did his best to bat away the floating foliage, but was beaten heavily by their sharp edges and by the Grass energy being emitted by Smugleaf. Smugleaf smirked, but found himself tiring rather quickly. After a lengthy (and fairly brutal) onslaught of leaves, Smugleaf dropped the attack, exhausted. The attack was hard on both Pokemon, and Smugleaf had been left in a weakened state. After brushing off the remaining leaves, Cré rose up to use his own attack. Teetering around on his pointing foot, Cré slapped his arms together as they began to glow with a light-bluish color. Pulling them apart, a sphere of energy slowly grew between them. At its peak size, Cré threw his arms forward, unleashing a painfully cold beam at Smugleaf, who struggled at the ice particles that were forming on his body.

Smugleaf threw himself out of the way once the beam started to fade, and in the same fluid motion, lunged at the now motionless Baltoy. Using the leaf like appendages on his tail, he began to slash at Cré’s body, who teetered back and forth trying to free himself from the Snivy. After a while, Cré stopped trying to escape his enemy, and instead settled on blasting him off with another beam. Smugleaf flew backwards, landing near his original position and wrenched his body off the ground that he was starting to freeze to. He was shivering now; those Ice Beams had been painful. Cré was in a state of his own, tending to the cuts from all the leaf attacks he had endured this round.

The leaves are supposed to be de-spawning! :V

I'm trying to go for a nice balance between Minecraft logic and ASB logic. The leaves fell sort of in the middle (no pun intended).

After a second batch of orders, Smugleaf went straight to work on defending himself from further attacks on Cré’s part. Closing his eyes and concentrating carefully, Smugleaf began to glow a soft green color. Cré wasn’t sure exactly what he was doing, but he knew that he had been ordered to attack. So once again, Cré began charging up another sphere of blue energy, aimed right for Smugleaf’s face. Just as he was about to release, Smugleaf opened his eyes and threw his own arms forward while Cré proceeded to do the same. Cré released yet another Ice attack, but Smugleaf countered it perfectly this time with his invisible shield. Cré kept forcing the beam towards Smugleaf, but it was no use. Disappointed, he dropped the attack which is precisely when Smugleaf made his next move.

Charging forward once more at Cré, Smugleaf whipped his tail in front of him, slashing away just as he had done before. But the leaves this time seemed to be striking a lot harder, at least from Cré’s perspective. He was already sensitive in spots, and the leaves were striking in same locations as last time, further deepening already painful wounds. Cré cried out, and Smugleaf finally let up, mostly because he was out of breath. After regaining his composure, Cré was quick to charge up his next Ice Beam, due to the failure of the previous one. The freezing energy blasted Smugleaf, who struggled to stay standing this time. Tearing his way through the cold energy, Smugleaf took one last stab at Cré, slicing him as before and forcing him to end his attack. Cré was not about to take as severe a beating twice in a row though, and blasted Smugleaf away with another Ice Beam just as Smugleaf had finished getting in a good number of slashes at him.

Cré was through; he was in pain and just wanted this battle to be over. Smugleaf had a similar desire, but his was because he knew he could finish off his opponent. Smugleaf went at Cré one more time, slashing away with his tail as he had done earlier. Cré remained oddly still, anticipating the right time to take Smugleaf down with him. But then something unexpected happened; Smugleaf started another Leaf Blade attack, only this one was different. It was unbearable. The leafy tail dug deep into Cré’s already tender body, knocking him further back with each blow. Cré desperately tried to start up his Explosion attack, but it was no use. Smugleaf’s attack was too much, and Cré quickly fell into unconsciousness. Smugleaf stood over him tired, but triumphant.

Knowing that his time on the battlefield was drawing to a close, Smugleaf decided the best thing he could do was to assume a defensive position and hold tight. Crouching down as low as he could, he strained to tighten his muscles, as well as his focus. Keeping a close eye on his new opponent, Smugleaf hung back, preparing for an attack. He didn’t have to wait long before Dexter made an eager attempt to wipe him out. Letting some of his goo coagulate together into a graspable mass, Dexter took his projectile and hurriedly chucked it in Smugleaf’s general direction. Unfortunately, his excitement had caused him a little too much haste, and the ball splattered a few feet to Smugleaf’s right, missing him completely.

Smugleaf was pleased. He had a chance to survive a little longer than he’d originally thought. This made his next attack a lot more difficult than he’d anticipated, however. Throwing out some taunts and vulgar Pokemon language that we as humans couldn’t really pick up on, Smugleaf took what was left of whatever anger he had and launched a head on tackle to Dexter’s side. He oozed back a little, somewhat dented, but not shaken. Taking advantage of his foe’s nearer position, which made him a much easier target, Dexter tried a different approach for another attack. Generating his signature slime at a intensified rate, Dexter pulled up a huge tidal wave of glop seemingly out of nowhere and hurled it right at Smugleaf’s side of the field. Cobblestone and dirt were no longer visible as trees were soon waist high in sludge. Smugleaf struggled to pull his head from the muck, and found equal difficulty in holding in his lunch.

Looking to wipe off the look of laughter now on Dexter’s face, Smugleaf pulled his battered body out of the slime and used what was left of his strength to attack one more time. Redirecting much of his remaining energy to his tail, Smugleaf propelled his rapidly hardening tail at Dexter’s face. Smacking his delicate body didn’t feel like much, but the tough nature of Smugleaf’s metallic-like tail did decent damage, and Dexter had to do his best to keep his face from literally flying off. Dexter glared at Smugleaf, and make a quick decision that his last attack would definitely work again, so long as he moved quickly. Using his natural powers to manipulate much of the gunk already on the ground , Dexter proceeded to add even more goop before sending Smugleaf swirling away once again in a lake of poison. Smugleaf dragged his own limp figure to the nearest dry spot and catered to his wounds. He had been lucky to survive, but he wasn’t going to make it much longer, especially if Dexter kept this up.
