Arena: Jello Square of Giganticness

A giant cube of magic Jello-brand gelatin, in the middle of a nondescript field.

Every round, the Jello flavor on the field will change. Each flavor has a unique effect on the participants of the battle, and all but clear have a ten percent chance of appearing:

Clear - No effect. Only appears on the first round.
Cherry - Bright red. Powers up fire-type moves by 3%.
Berry Blue - A cool blue color. Powers up water-type moves by 3%.
Lemon - Lividly yellow. Powers up electric-type moves by 3%.
Lime - Bright green. Powers up grass-type moves by 3%.
Molotov Cocktail - A mildly inebriating, opaque white flavor. As it's highly explosive, this flavor causes roughly 5% typeless damage if thrown, as well as a 30% chance of mild burn, regardless of type.
Root Beer - A medium brown flavor riddled with bubbles. Causes all Pokémon (and trainers) to float slightly, giving them the ability Levitate in addition to their normal one. Consensual fliers/levitaters become inherent for the round.
Pudding - A rich chocolate pudding. The field liquefies for a round, maintaining its cube shape but becoming thick and goopy on the top. Lowers the speed of walking pokémon by one. Heavy pokémon are liable to sink more quickly.
Watermelon - A pinkish-red flavor dotted with large seeds. All projectile moves hit the maximum number of times. All moves hit every time as well.
Green Tea - A pale green flavor. Heals any status problems when eaten, and lowers severe status problems to moderate, moderate ones to mild, and cures mild ones when it appears. Resets all stat increases or reductions.
@#!*9% - The jello begins to rapidly switch between all other flavors except for Pudding and Clear, meaning that all of them have their effects activated at once.

If the referee rolls the same flavor as the previous round, he/she must reroll until a different one is selected. In addition, chills are replaced by the order to eat jello, which replenishes the same amount of energy as a chill would.

Large puddles (about the size of an above-ground pool) of melted jello will be automatically provided for water-dependent participants. These can also be requested at the release of any pokémon. Any and all water-type moves will immediately turn to jello-juice as it leaves the user's various orifices, and moves like Surf (which are fueled by a rather large part of the field liquefying) will form out of liquefied gelatin.

Dragon Dance, first. Then try a Crabhammer, aim at the nose. End with Scald, or scoop up some jello and throw it if it's the explosive kind. Just Dragon Dance if you can't get at him.

Start off with Foul Play and continue to use it every time he uses Dragon Dance. If he doesn't use Dragon dance on the second turn, use Sunny Day. If you don't use Sunny Day on the second action, try it again on the third. If you do manage to use it and they don't use Dragon Dance, use SolarBeam.

Way out in the middle of an unremarkable field of grass, a giant cube of magical mystery brand jello sits innocently in the sun. Some might say it looks ever so slightly out of place, but few doubt the magnificence of the flavour changing dessert, though many resent how it has been deemed illegal to eat it. The mystical properties of the jello have instead been harnessed by the citizens of Asber as a surprisingly effective battleground, and any hungry trespassers are kept at bay by the top notch security Houndooms.
It took a surprising amount of legal wrangling for to get the gigantic cube of magical jello onto the field, but the matter was eventually resolved with a single, irrefutable statement: "This is an insanely boring and nondescript field; a gigantic cube of magical jello can only improve it."
And so it was that a team of highly trained professionals delivered the tasty cube into the middle of the field for countless epic battles to take place. In fact, one such battle is about to happen as Blastoise, Barubu and Byrus arrive to the magnificent sight. After all three trainers are hefted unceremoniously onto the jello by the referee's overeager Machop and Timburr, everyone tries to get used to new strange new ground by taking a few hesitant steps.
Barubu starts things off with Eric the Houndour; who gives an eager bark before he realises that he seems to be standing on jello for some reason. He stares at it for a moment before curiously sniffing around, then gives a cheerful bark and prepares to tuck in. As the referee gives the Houndour a stern telling off about how you must not eat the chosen battlefield, Blastoise sends out Deadly Red the Corphish. Red snaps his claws eagerly, before staring around at the endless jello in surprise. He taps the springy surface with a few of his legs, then turns to face his now disgruntled looking opponent, trying not to appear fazed.

Round one

As the referee signals for the fight to begin, both Pokémon look around uncertainly as they test their footing on the unusual battleground. Eric hesitantly tests the springy surface with a paw, and then takes a literal leap of faith by bounding towards his foe.
Deadly Red stares in mild surprise at his opponent’s bravado, then haughtily turns to focus on his own orders. As he tries to remember the steps of the complicated dance, he’s suddenly rudely interrupted by Eric jumping hyperactively around him, snarling and barking aggressively and generally getting in his way. Red snaps his claws at him in an attempt to get the mutt to back off, but Eric is annoyingly persistent, and continues his antics, even dropping in a few rude insults.
Finally, Deadly Red has enough; he lunges forward furiously, and Eric finally jumps back as Red’s claws snap shut an inch shy of his muzzle. Trying to hide his toothy grin at his success, Eric swiftly retreats, followed across the jello by a very angry looking Corphish. When he puts enough distance between him and his rapidly advancing foe, Eric halts and turns to face the enraged Red. The Corphish takes his chance and increases his speed, but he’s left looking shocked when Eric suddenly takes the initiative and pounces forward to meet him. The Houndour catches Deadly Red in mid-run and uses his foe’s own speed against him, tripping him up with a sweep of his paws and sending him tumbling across the jello.
Deadly Red is left slightly dazed and embarrassed, and hastily picks himself up, determined to finish that dance and put that farce behind him. His multiple legs quickly become a blur as he re-enacts the ancient dance, drawing upon the power of mystical dragons long-past. When the dance is complete, Deadly Red spins round with a flourish, his claws snapping rapidly and still crackling with a blue aura of draconic energy. Eric just growls at the flashy display, seemingly undeterred by Red’s newfound confidence.

With an added strength in his claws, Deadly Red determinedly skitters across the jello, his gaze set firmly on his target. He holds his claw high, and slams it viciously towards the Houndour, trying to aim at his sensitive nose. The springy nature of the battlefield seems to throw his aim off a little though, and he instead manages to deal Eric a harsh smack across the side of his head. Eric utters a startled woof and staggers back, looking slightly dazed as he tries to retain his footing.
Still wincing a little, he turns his gaze to the sky and spits out a small fiery orb of light, which streams upwards and disappears into the clouds. Soon enough, the clouds begin to turn wispy and fade away as the sun behind them suddenly strengthens, beaming down on the two battlers with its intense glare.
Deadly Red shuffles about uncomfortably as the heat washes over him, his claws dropping down. Eric however, looks quite a bit cheerier, and holds his head up to the bright light, basking in its warmth.

Chittering irritably to himself, Red scuttles towards Eric, his large claws snapping menacingly. Eric watches cautiously as his foe approaches, waiting to see what action he’ll take.
Red stops short of his target and opens his mouth, forming frothing bubbles of boiling water as he prepares his attack. To his surprise however, the water he generates seems to change as it hits the air and becomes strangely… sweet. Trying to ignore this bizarre development, Deadly Red sends the boiling jet streaming towards the Houndour, drenching him in the scalding liquid. Eric yelps and cowers down as the water soaks his fur, and Red also cries out in surprise as he notices that the water he spat out changed into delicious liquefied jello. Man, he could make a fortune generating this stuff…
Eric grimaces and gives himself a quick shake to dislodge the globs of jello juice from fur. The heat of the jello water isn’t too bothersome, but he still doesn’t appreciate his beautiful coat getting ruined like that. The sunlight beaming down certainly helps him to dry off though, and he’s thankful for that at least.
He holds his head up towards the bright light, enjoying the warmth of the rays, and then opens his jaws. A green orb of earth energy rapidly begins to form in his mouth, drawing power from the sun as it grows in strength. When the orb becomes too powerful and unwieldy for Eric to hold onto, he unleashes it as a tremendous white-green beam of burning solar energy. Red shrieks as he is enveloped in the impressive beam of light, and when it fades away, a singed and shell-shocked looking Corphish is left in its wake.
Wincing, Red tenderly picks himself up again, and inspects the singe marks on his carapace with disdain. He irritably shakes a claw at Eric for daring to mark his magnificent armour, but the Houndour just snorts and glares back at him, still feeling resentful over that knock to the head.
As both battlers stare each other down, the jello beneath their feet suddenly begins to quiver and shake ever so slightly. The formerly clear surface of the jello shimmers and blurs, then suddenly changes to a bright and appetizing pinkish-red colour.

Round two

Eric swiftly zones in again on Deadly Red, ready to begin another bout of relentless hounding. He snaps at Red’s tail and barks loudly in his face, relishing his opponent’s obvious indignation. It certainly takes his mind off his aching head too.
Deadly Red is much quicker to rise to bait this time; he’s already feeling cranky from the relentless heat washing over him, not to mention that horrible singeing from last round, and he responds with a vicious swing of his claws. However, Eric is just as quick as last time, and he expertly uses Red’s momentum against him by dodging the blow and tripping him up with a swipe of his paws. Red lands harshly on the springy surface, and takes his time getting back up again from the sudden fall.
He then raises a claw, and a strange, ethereal aura of ghostly energy surrounds it, shimmering like a mirage in the heat. He snaps his spectral claw at Eric, muttering under his breath. Eric looks at Red uncertainly, then suddenly backs away with a small yelp as he feels a sudden chill run up his spine. The beaming sun suddenly seems far away as he shivers and cringes from the eerie chilling sensation.

As Deadly Red lowers his claw, Eric shakes his head to clear it then stands upright again, trying to appear unfazed. As he looks over at him, Red hesitantly taps his legs against the springy surface, then makes a few uncertain looking moves. Eric slowly approaches, watching Red carefully as he begins to pick up some speed and re-enact the draconic dance from earlier. Eric can’t help but notice that something is slightly off though; the dance doesn’t seem to have that aura of power and energy that it had last time the Corphish used it. He doesn’t give it too much thought however, and instead zooms in for another bout of pestering.
Deadly Red is forced to stop in mid-movement as Eric’s fangs come within inches of his tail. The Houndour quickly follows this up by snarling and barking aggressively in Red’s face, daring him to shut him up. Red irritably tries to shove Eric out of his face with a violent wave of his claws, but Eric is quick to seize the opportunity. He easily dodges the un-coordinated attack then trips Red up again, smirking at the furious cry the Corphish gives as he lands on his face.

Deadly Red picks himself again, his anger at Eric's underhanded tactics rapidly mounting. He resists the urge to launch a snappy assault on the mutt's nose and instead begins another tentative dance. Eric doesn't pay any attention to the lack of power behind the dance at all this time; he's too eager to follow up his success. Plus, it's a lot of fun watching his foe land on his face.
He charges towards Red with another aggressive and loud bout of snarling and barking right in his face, dropping a few insults here and there. Red struggles to hold his temper and try and ignore him, but a nasty nip on his tail automatically causes him to respond.
He swings both claws at Eric with a startled cry, but to his frustration, the Houndour smoothly reverses his actions and sends him tumbling. Deadly Red is left splayed out on the jello in the relentless heat, feeling dazed and frustrated. He mutters irritably to himself as he painfully raises up again, wishing he could outwit the dark type for once. His armour is looking very battered by this point from the relentless pummeling, but the Corphish still has plenty of battle spirit left.
Eric sits back on his haunches as he tries to get his breath back. He's certainly pleased with his success, but he can't help but feel a bit alarmed at how much it took out of him. He didn't feel that drained from using that move before..
Both battlers are jolted out of their thoughts as the jello under their feet suddenly starts to change again; it shimmers and wavers before the pinkish-red is replaced by brown. The colour change is immediately followed by the jello melting into a liquefied state, drawing cries of surprise from both Pokémon as their limbs sink into the rich pudding.

Round three

Eric growls irritably as he tries to wade through the gloopy mass of pudding. If he could just eat his way through this mess it’d make things much easier….
Putting that temptation aside once again, he raises his head and opens his jaws as he begins to create another earthy beam of solar energy. Deadly Red looks on nervously as he sees the familiar orb rapidly beginning to form, and he quickly tries to take action. Instead of trying to struggle through the gooey pudding, he tries to harness its deliciousness to his advantage.
He raises his claws uncertainly, but quickly gains confidence as he sees the liquefied chocolate responding to his commands just like regular old water. As he waves his claws more enthusiastically, the chocolate suddenly rises up beneath him with a gurgling roar to form a tremendous wave of chocolaty goodness. Deadly Red rides on the top of the wave, bearing down on Eric just as shocked opponent hastily unleashes the unwieldy beam of light.
Deadly Red shrieks in pain as the burning solar energy scorches his battered armour and knocks him off the wave, while Eric yelps as he is engulfed in chocolate. The wave sweeps the Houndour completely off his feet and leaves him immersed in the stuff; his whole coat completely covered. Eric whines unhappily as he tries to drag himself out of the mire of pudding, and suddenly finds that he isn’t very fond of chocolate any more.

Deadly Red hisses in pain as he picks himself up, cursing the relentless sun as well as that stupid Houndour and his stupid grass attacks. He can feel the horrible amount of damage done to his armour all too clearly, but he definitely has no desire to see exactly how bad it is right now.
Struggling to ignore the aches and pains plaguing him, Red raises his claws, and the chocolate beneath him begins to stir once again. Eric cringes as he notices the movement and struggles forward desperately. Since he’s having a lot of trouble moving right now he decides to have another go at that solar beam through the water thing. He shakes off as much excess chocolate as he can; hating the feel of the stuff in his fur, then raises his head towards the sun again. As he rapidly draws in more solar energy, he finds the sun overhead suddenly blotted out by another wave of chocolate pudding bearing down on him with an angry looking Corphish riding it. He’s abruptly engulfed in the wave before he has a chance to react and is sent sweeping backwards, completely covered in the stuff once again. Eric is unpleasantly surprised by the kick this second wave packs, and utters a series of yelps as his whole world is briefly turned to chocolate.
Deadly Red hops off the wave just as it crashes down and surveys the results with a grim sense of accomplishment. However, despite looking worse for wear (and somewhat ridiculous), Eric isn’t out of the game yet, and he struggles past his discomfort in order to finish his previous efforts. He raises his head to the sun and draws the needed solar energy before unleashing it on Red with vicious gusto. Red is thrown backwards in the burning beam of light, only managing a feeble cry as his carapace is further scorched and battered.

The drenched and miserable looking Houndour quickly tries to take the opportunity to free himself while his opponent is down. It's far from easy; his side of the field is completely swamped in chocolate, and it's severely restricting his movement. He'd never thought he'd be thinking this but... he really doesn't want to see another drop of chocolate ever again. Not after this mess!
He tries to shake the excess chocolate off his fur again, but suddenly panics as he notices that Red is starting to stir. How on earth can he still be conscious after all that?
Eric desperately looks skywards again, drawing more solar energy from the sun as Red struggles valiantly to his feet again. The Corphish's movements are horribly sluggish, and his whole body is covered in dents and large scorch marks from the multiple solar beams and falls. Nevertheless, he struggles to move, his claws clicking feebly as he attempts to summon up another wave. The chocolate responds, albeit slower this time, and the chocolate beneath him raises up in a towering wave. Eric struggles to draw in more light as he sees the wave nearing, but he isn't fast enough to out-speed the rush of chocolate. Red's vision is blurred and distorted through his pain, but he tries to follow his trainer's commands; making sure to press down on the mutt with his open claw as he lands, pushing his face down in the chocolate.
Eric can only managed a muffled yelp before he is literally immersed in the stuff once again, and this time he completely loses it. He thrashes about wildly and desperately unleashes the half-charged solar beam in his opponent's general direction. The burning beam blasts through the thick chocolate restricting Eric's upper body, sending showers of the stuff everywhere. Although it seems somewhat muted compared to Eric's previous efforts, it's still widespread enough to clip Red on the tail, drawing a pained cry of surprise from the already tortured Corphish. Eric isn't concerned about whether his solar beam hit or not however, he's more pleased that he's managed to get his face free. He immediately raises his head again and gulps in the fresh air, still looking panicky over being submerged like that.
As both battle worn Pokémon try to get their breath back, the stuff beneath them begins to change once again. The gloopy surface of the pudding quivers as it solidifies again into jello and takes on a lighter shade of brown. Neither battler seems very interested in it this time, not until they suddenly find themselves floating that is. Eric yelps and cartwheels about in confusion while Red only manages to look mildly surprised. He's too sore to care about this strange development too much. Hopefully floating will take less effort than walking.

Round four

Sensing that his opponent is close to defeat, Eric tries to ignore the discomfort of not having his feet firmly on solid ground and focus on attacking. Snarling, he turns his head towards the dwindling sun, hoping to finish off Red with a bang.
Deadly Red has no intentions of going out quietly however; the Corphish drags himself forward, wincing with each movement, and summons up all his remaining strength. His body glows with a blazing aura of fighting type energy as he suddenly bursts towards his opponent in one last ditch attempt, waving his claws wildly. He collides viciously into the startled Houndour, decking him with both his claws and sending him careening through the air. Dazed and bruised, Eric struggles to regain his bearings and finish what he started. He painfully raises his head again and the orb of light in his jaws begins to reach its peak. He then angrily unleashes the burning hot stream of light at Red, knocking him clean out of the air. Red lands on the jello in a heap, scorched, battered and out for the count.
Eric breathes a sigh if relief as the tenacious Corphish is recalled into his Pokéball, and he gingerly inspects the injuries from Red's last hurrah. As he licks his wounds, the jello underneath him abruptly loses its floaty properties, and the Houndour is also sent falling back to earth. Luckily for him, its a short trip and he lands harmlessly on the springy, lemon coloured jello with a feeble bark.

After a moment of thought, Blastoise sends out Gemini the Elgyem to finish Eric off. The psychic Pokémon utters its eerie cry as he curiously scans the unusual surroundings, before his gaze settles on his opponent. He isn't overly pleased to see its a dark type, but the Houndour definitely looks in bad shape, so he shouldn't have too much problems here..

Round five

Before Gemini has a chance to even get his thoughts together, Eric is on the offense. He snaps and snarls at the psychic, trying to put on a brave facade despite his pains. Gemini frowns, trying to ignore the rowdy mutt, but it's almost impossible for him to concentrate on the strenuous attack with the distraction. He eventually tries to bat the vicious Houndour away with a wave of an arm, but Eric seizes his chance and latches on. He quickly sends Gemini flying across the jello to land in an undignified heap, much to the Elgyem's displeasure. The residue of dark energy from Eric's attack burns painfully into Gemini's flesh as he rights himself, and he looks noticeably shaken from all the sudden aggression.
Despite the pain he's in, Eric can help snickering at the disgruntled look on the psychic Pokémon's face. Gemini looks up with suppressed anger as he sees the sneering Houndour, and immediately sets about retaliating.
He holds both arms out wide and closes his eyes as he generates the huge supply of electricity needed for his attack. Eric quickly falls quiet as he sees the tremendous surge of sparks flowing across Gemini's body, and he slowly backs away, his ears and tail down.
The markings on the Elgyem's head glow a vivid yellow as he continues drawing upon the power of electricity, and he's pleasantly surprised to find the yellow jello beneath him is conductive enough to fuel his attack. Finally, Gemini throws his arms forward, and the gems on his body begin to glow brightly as he sends the double bolt of sparks streaming towards the unfortunate Houndour.
Eric yelps in pain as the thunderbolt completely engulfs him, ravaging his small form and leaving him lying in a smoking heap. He gives a small groan and a feeble movement of his paw before Barubu hastily recalls the defeated Houndour into the safety of his pokéball.
Gemini nods his head in approval, then lowers his arms and tries to go back to looking all serene and stuff. He's still a bit miffed about the underhanded trickery of that dark type, but he mustn't let that get to him...
He's jolted out of his thoughts as the lemon jello suddenly begins quivering violently, and a shimmery haze of colours replaces the bright yellow. Gemini looks on cautiously as the jello begins a series of rapid colour swaps, and he's suddenly finds himself floating leisurely in the air. Hmm. Curious.
