Asber long since having run out of sensible, realistic or plausible arenas, today's battle has instead been arranged for one of the region's more awesomely batshit locales. Situated in the physics-can-just-bugger-off sector of one of the area's major cities is an infinitely tall, triangular building, a rather daring piece of architecture that not only punches science right in the face with its extraordinary dimensions, but also uses a rather interesting choice of building materials. Each wall is a shimmering primary-coloured portal, leading to a major landmark somewhere else in the region. Through the distorting wormholes, you can just hear the hustle and bustle of ASB central, the frenzied cheers of the tournament stadium, and the- well, okay, you obviously can't hear anything from the deserted, run-down ASB School campus, but it's in there somewhere.
Within this fantastical Toblerone stand three trainers, the combatants for this match and their referee, each stationed at a different corner. The referee gives the order to send out, and Blinkingsky hurls two Pokéballs into the centre of the triangle, which burst open in a flash of red light to reveal a Mudkip and Ralts. Evidently deciding to even out the Hoenn majority, Kratos Aurion goes for a Unova-themed pair of fighters, releasing Rastignac the Snivy and Muramasa the Tepig into the ring- er, triangle. As the Pokémon take in the overwhelming improbability of the arena, the referee waves a flag, signalling a start to the first round.

For several moments, no Pokémon makes a move, the four critters staring in awe at their mesmerisingly fascinating surroundings. Eventually, one of the quartet snaps himself out of it and steps forward to make a move; Rastignac struts confidently toward Psy, wearing an expression of pure smugness (moreso than a Snivy usually does, anyway). He taps the Ralts on the shoulder, and when she turns around, leans into her, hands on his hips and widening his smarmy grin.
So you're from Hoenn, eh? he remarks brashly.
Wow, that's a joke of a region- stupidest Pokémon I ever saw. Not like Unova! No dumbass Raltses in Unova, no sir- and so he prattles on, crassly tearing into everything about Hoenn he can think of. Psy, however, is privy to none of his malice, having coated her body in an invisible film of psychic energy that blocks every word he says.
...and that's why Pokémon musicals beat Pokémon contests in every conceivable- hey, are you even listening?! Having completely forgotten that the sole purpose of his boasting was to get a rise out of Psy, Rastignac becomes infuriated himself at her refusal to even acknowledge the majesty of Unova, and resolves to give this philistine a piece of his mind. Meanwhile, his teammate is taking things rather more easily. Blowing a largeish puff of smoke from his nostrils, he begins to mould the surprisingly viscous cloud of sooty smog with his hooves, forming it into the rough shape of a Tepig. When he finishes, the model sets rock solid, and trots up in front of him to fend off any aggressors. While he sits proudly behind his creation, Jack wanders over to Rastignac and Psy to see what all the commotion is about. Tentatively, he taps Rastignac on the arm, and when the furious lizard whirls around to ask what the hell he wants, Jack spews a huge, messy glob of mud all down Rastignac's front. The Snivy snarls in disgust, about to smack the filthy mudfish upside the head before realising the mud contained some sort of caustic substance, which is already beginning to corrode through his scales and enter his body. He attempts to wipe the disgusting muck off, but already he can feel it's too late as a slight nausea washes over him. Sensing his illness, the shimmering rainbow scale clasped in Rastignac's hand responds with a flash, coating his body in a radiant blue aura to help protect him from further harm.
Though he now has considerable beef with Jack as well, Rastignac focusses his rage back on Psy. He eyes her with absolute loathing, lamenting the lack of face-shattering violence in his commands; Calm Mind?! No way! This is not the time for a bunch of sissy meditating. This is the time for
punching Raltses until his arms explode. And then carrying on regardless. He settles for just standing there sulkily, shooting murderous glances at Psy all the while. His companion, however, has no such restrictions to meting out sufficient quantities of delicious injury, scampering around his Substitute and bounding up to Jack. Before the Mudkip even notices him coming, the pig barrels into him at full speed, slamming the Mudkip brutally to the ground. Jack yelps as Muramasa's considerable bulk crushes him against the weirdfloor, yelping even louder when he feels something click painfully in his joints. When Muramasa rolls off him and returns to safety behind his substitute, Jack finds his muscles very stiff and uncooperative, hampering his movement tremendously. While he attempts to get his limbs to cooperate, Psy closes her eyes, indulging in some of that peaceful meditation that Rastignac refused to participte in earlier, banishing all the doubts and worries from her mind and letting a serene calm wash over her, making her far harder to disturb mentally. When Jack finally forces his legs to operate normally, he rather ambitiously goes for a sprint around the room; he tries his hardest to get up enough speed to reduce to a mere blur, but his stiff legs make this impossible. Regardless, when he finally has to stop to nurse his sore joints, two semi-translucent Mudkip mirages follow along with him.
While Jack applauds his meager success, a maniacal grin forms across Rastignac's previously furious face. Finally, a chance to hurt things! Sure, he can't attack that Unova-hating bitch of a Ralts, but he
can vent on her muck-puking cohort. Closing his eyes, he begins to mutter a strange mantra to himself over and over, reciting an ancient spell known only to a select few Grass-type Pokémon. As his chanting grows more rapid, the weirdfloor under Jack's feet begins to quake and crumble, and suddenly enormous vines erupt from the ground, flinging Jack into the air with the tremendous speed of their growth and blasting his clones from existence as they burst through them. Muramasa, meanwhile, is reciting his own ancient incantation, a spell passed down through generations of Fire Pokémon that combines with the Grass-type spell to produce a mighty combination attack. Flames suddenly burst into existence around Jack and Psy, shooting skyward into towering columns of flame, which catch the remaining vines left from Rastignac's move to produce an enormous, searing bonfire with Jack and Psy at its centre. The Pokémon's yells of terror are drowned out by the mighty crackling of the blaze, which Jack eventually manages to hasten towards its demise by spouting water on the blazing cage of plantlife. Neither of Blinkingsky's team got out unscathed, however, both of them sporting angry red burns on various parts of their body. Wincing at the unbearable stinging sensation on her raw, burned flesh, Psy turns to face Rastignac, her eyes flashing bright blue as the startled lizard is lifted into the air by a mysterious psychic force. Psy gingerly sweeps her scalded arm toward the blue wall, and with a yelp Rastignac is flung in its direction, phasing right through the portal and into the contest stage. There, a very heated contest final is underway, the contestant's victory hinging on this one last appeal. Their Pokémon, a Kangaskhan, has already performed two very popular moves, but to really win the crowd over she needs to hammer it home with a well-placed Earthquake. The tension in the arena is palpable as the Kangaskhan beats her chest, lifts her fist high over her head, swings it down- and is forced to veer off to the side as a Snivy pops into existence right the hell out of nowhere in front of her. In her attempt to avoid crushing Rastignac, she topples over and slams right into the judge's desk, smashing it into splinters and very nearly crushing the Boss Lady herself as she collapses into the front of the spectator stands. The crowd gives a collective gasp of surprise and horror at this disaster; Negrek furiously scans the field as the other judges stagger to their feet, looking for the vile creature that dares ruin a contest and destroy her League's valuable desks. Her eyes rest on Rastignac, who stares guiltily down at his feet as the crowd boo him relentlessly and hurl whatever snacks they might be consuming in his general direction. Before the Boss Lady can call security and have the offender removed or identify who his trainer is, however, Rastignac zaps back into the battle, still feeling terrible about spoiling the contest, as well as sick to the stomach from his poisoning. Neither of Blinkingsky's Pokémon are very well off, either; both are in even more pain than usual with their terrible burns, and Jack's limbs are completely locked up, rendering him completely incapable of voluntary movement.

=REFEREE'S NOTES=
~ oh god sorry this took so long ;~;
~ Psy traced Muramasa's Blaze.
~ Ralts and Mudkip have equal base speed. The RNG says Jack moves first.
~ the whole sound-blocking thing with Magic Coat is just because I couldn't think of a way to decently describe it bouncing Rastignac's insults back at him.
~ being paralysed, Jack's speed was only high enough to produce two clones.
~ Rastignac will be feeling too sorry for himself to do anything on the first action of Round 2.
~ ...I really need to find some way to divide up my paragraphs more in double battles.
=TURN ORDER=
