The good doctor has staged several battles in other arenas (usually in Arena Number 44), but this time he decided to let his test subjects use this arena, due to the technology's high tolerance for electromagnetic signals. The gimmick here is the doctor's recent new device; we're testing it out for him, you see.

The device is over in the corner, protected by a one-way force field. Said device, which has yet to be named but has thus far been built as "Project Memory", is rather special. It sends out a special electromagnetic wave, the effect of which is quite severe; it essentially resets the memory of someone caught in it for the duration of its effect. Now, this can give humans amnesia for a day or two (but that's why the battlers will be sitting outside watching through electromagnetic wave-proof glass), but its effect on Pokémon is quite different.

For the duration of the battle, the machine will send out its electromagnetic signal at both of the battlers. This signal will erase any moves and techniques from their memories, except for the ones they were born with.

The arena itself is quite straightforward, with no gimmicks.

Other: All pokémon participating can ONLY use moves that they had access to in the generation in which they were introduced. For instance, Croagunk can only use the moves it had in Generation IV, while something like Exeggutor can only use moves from Generation I (like no Seed Bomb or anything). This includes signature moves, which all have no effect for the entire battle, as well as signature attributes which were not there when the pokémon was born (e.g. blindness stays, but [example: Crazy Linoone's Death Cannon's Broadband High-Speed Internet Connection] has no effect).

Eh, lets send out Pika.

Hmm...All right, Drillbud, you're up!

So...let's go ahead and start with Toxic, see if we can build ourselves an early crutch with that. After that, let's go ahead with Hone claws, and then see about starting a Rollout combo.

Toxic ~ Hone Claws ~ Rollout

Alright, let's get this started!

First, use Detect to prevent yourself from getting poisoned. Then, use Encore, but wait for her to move before doing so. Finally, end with Thunder Wave to get some parahax going on.

Through ample amounts of bribery, blackmail, and brunch, the people of Asber have somehow convinced a mad scientist to allow them use of, well, most everything he owns. Past the many, many failures (consisting of ice cream machines powered by molten lead, several "perpetual motion" machines, and a somewhat controversial attempt to create a new form of transportation using Explosion, not to mention Arenas 1-10), a glass dome awaits, seemingly pitch-black inside and hard as diamond. Impervious to light and radiation, it’s the perfect nuclear shelter; that is, it would be if that machine over there in the corner weren’t there.

Inside the dome, two metallic hands come to life and throw red-and-white balls into the fray; in identical bursts of white light, what appears to be a metal durian and a yellow mouse pop out, but as soon as they hit the ground, they’re both knocked backward by seemingly nothing. Drilbud picks herself back up without incidence, eyes furrowed in confusion; Pika, on the other hand, holds his head in pain, and suddenly, the pain disappears, and he blinks, befuddled as to why he was in a big glass dome with someone he didn’t know existed. As Pika goes through his memory lapse, the slightly worried trainers shout commands into microphones; the lights flash green, and the Pokémon standoff.

- Cheeks sparking.

Drilbud looks on in disdain as Pika crouches low, ears pricked and his piercing eyes aimed at her. As the Pichu balls his fists in concentration, he allows himself a small crack in his total focus, smirking slightly. Though rather annoyed at her trainer, she supposes orders are orders, and soon, the emerald-green of the Ferroseed’s thorns fades to a deep purple. Firing a volley of venom-filled barbs, Drilbud sighs inside when Pika flips to the side with a butterfly kick more for flair than utility, landing neatly on his feet as the spikes fall harmlessly behind him.

The Pichu almost scoffs at Drilbud’s stupidity before remembering what he has do to next and plasters on a goofy grin before plopping onto the ground. That’s odd, Drilbud thinks, whirling around as a dark light settles around her. Letting her natural growth processes speed up, the spines covering the Ferroseed’s body grow longer and keener. Already fairly satisfied with the results, her contentment is raised even more by the suddenly-gushing-with-praise-Pichu, rioting with applause. As Pika rambles on about how he “never would have thought of doing the move like that”, he snickers internally at how simply easy it was to trick the Ferroseed.

By the time Drilbud’s ego has been sufficiently boosted, though, it’s been half a minute, and Pika is starting to run out of breath; cautiously, he stops chattering for a few seconds, and sure enough, Drilbud looks enormously pleased. Outwardly beaming, he hides a growing spark of electricity behind his back as the Ferroseed jump-starts her growth once more; Pika takes the opportunity and pitches the crackling ball toward Drilbud. She flinches, aching and feeling unnaturally rigid; Pika notices her glaring at him, quickly babbling an apology and more compliments. Somewhat placated, Drilbud continues on out of pride, and the brambles on her side sharpen ever more as the lights flicker red.

Notes:
- Light is an electromagnetic wave. :/
- Ferroseed don’t really have the necessary body parts for a few moves, so alternate descriptions abound (also, the spike-Toxic was inspired by Black’s Pokédex entry).

- Wondering why the weird shiny thing stopped twirling.

Pika smiles playfully as he waits for those big boxes to start speaking again; he runs forward, jabs Drilbud a few times, then scurries away. Careful to avoid those pointy spikes he jumped over before, the Pichu hops excitedly around the Ferroseed, though not before he mumbles a few more encouraging words about that "cool glowing thing" she did. Drilbud stands stoically in the middle of the dome, her green-and-yellow eyes unblinking as Pika giggles and ambles away; suddenly, he notices the sound of someone clearing their throat. He plops down onto the ground, ears pricked, as Drilbud stares intently into a speaker. The Pichu grins evilly as the stadium is bathed in a sea green.

Pika closes his eyes with a pretended air of solemnness, raising his paws up as the floor beneath him starts to glow, and then the Pichu pauses, looking confused. Peeping out of the smallest crack in his eyelids, he sighs in relief as dark beige orbs of energy start to pop out of the ground; he thought he had done something wrong for a moment there. Suddenly, the spheres rush toward Pika, covering him in a dome of light, and then, the dome explodes and flattens into an expanding ring. Drilbud, however, is as impassive as ever, eyes betraying no hint of emotion.

The Ferroseed thinks for a moment. Though to her it was quite obvious Pika didn’t care for her spiky points, she rather liked that feeling of being stronger and pricklier. As she tries to relax, though, something similar to a muscle spasm courses through her, and a wave of panic washes through her mind. Did she do something wrong? Did she lose control of the dark energy?

By the time Drilbud has regained her bearings, though, Pika has already started frolicking across the floor, jumping and dancing and twirling. Lost in pure joy and happiness, the Pichu fails to notice his dancing hasn’t done anything yet. As he pauses to catch his breath, he looks up to admire his progress; wide-eyed, Pika resumes his cavorting with vigor. This time, a faint aquamarine light flickers into life around him, and suddenly, water crashes down from the sky, covering the floor with a growing layer of sloshing water. Pika smiles and spins around once more; he isn't quite used to the water, though, and trips into the pond. Embarrassed, he picks himself up with a sheepish grin.

Despite her misfortunes and currently aching body, Drilbud could have smiled at the Pichu’s ridiculous display. Settling down a bit, she summons a dark cloud of light to surround her as her cells kick-start their growth yet again; perhaps the Pichu’s Encore hasn’t completely worn off by now, as she looks immensely proud at her newfound power.

Pika bites his lip. Despite his trainer’s certainity, he can’t help but think that even if he could summon that raging downpour, no one could bring a sky-splitting lightning bolt. Orders were orders, though, and with his eyebrows creased with worry, he brings his arms upward, pleading to whoever controlled the sky, and then swings them down dramatically in Drilbud’s direction. Just as expected, though, no pain-bringing strike slams into the Ferroseed. Disappointed, Pika plops down with a splash.

By now, Drilbud would be rolling around with laughter, if not for her paralysis. Focusing on her bright yellow target as if she were aiming at a faraway fly, she spins around in a flurry of spikes and metal, firing barrage after barrage of sharp thorns into Pika. The Pichu cringes after each increasingly painful volley; by the time the Ferroseed has stopped whirling around, Pika is covered in cuts and blood.

Other than that, Project Memory and its shield is off to the side of the dome.

Actually, I think Rain Dance can be used anywhere, by actually creating the rain rather than calling it.

Anyhow. If at any time it is raining, Drillbud, I want you to use Sunny Day to change back the weather. Elsewise, I want you to use Thunder Wave until it works and Poison Jab until it works.

Sunny Day/Thunder Wave/Poison Jab x3

Bleh. Talked with somebody about this; I'll let Rain Dance slide, but I'm really reluctant about Thunder.

Really, if Rain Dance(or any weather move) could be used than Thunder could easily be used.

Popping in to say that I know for a fact that an access to the sky is necessary for Thunder to work, but Rain Dance could work with artificial things, like sprinklers.

Bah, FINE.

Charm her first. If she managed to use Sunny Day on the first action, then Encore her to keep using it. If not, then use Double Team and aim for 6 clones, if possible. Finally, if she is encored into Sunny Day already than use Double Team for 6 clones now, if possible. If not, then Encore her into it now if she managed to use it. If, by some stroke of bad luck for her, she got parahaxed twice, then use Thunderbolt.

Though neither of the two participants are exactly happy about the deluge pouring down from the ceiling, Drilbud is faring somewhat better than Pika; being a plant has its benefits. There’s only so much water something can take, though, and as the Ferroseed listens to her commands, her eyes light up slightly. Pika is equally happy, deciding that if Thunder didn’t even work in this wetness, he would be happy enough for some light and energy. After a few moments’ consideration, the referee presses the big red button (designed to be purposely misleading by the doctor), and the slowly flooding interior turns emerald.

Pika sighs; he supposes that battles can’t all be fun. Despite that, he silently protests against his trainer as he tries to think of how to charm a completely different Pokémon from him. Cuteness was cuteness, he decides, and he smiles endearingly toward Drilbud. Splashing toward the durian, he pretends to slip, flipping onto his back. Looking embarrassed, he grins as if apologizing. As Pika continues his charade of running around happily, Drilbud looks on cautiously; was this some sort of trick? The more Pika waddles around, an expression of joy on his face, though, the more Drilbud lets her guard down, wondering how this cute baby could have done anything wrong to her.

Putting on a serious face, the Ferroseed decides she’s had enough of the downpour. Spinning around rapidly, her thorns glow bright orange for a moment, and then the color just seems to seep out of them, collecting into a fiery sphere of light. Hoping that if the Rain Dance worked, then surely this would, she fires it into the air, and it explodes into a burst of red light. When the weather generator finally works out what the pulse meant, Drilbud looks relieved as the rains finally slow to a halt and replaced by a blinding light far above.

Pursing his lips, the Pichu wonders whether Drilbud would even believe another act. He pushes the thought away, though, and starts a tentative clap. Gaining confidence, he blabbers about how he really loved the sun; he made a huge mistake in trying to bring that horrible storm. Frolicking around for good effect, Pika smiles hopefully at Drilbud, quietly pondering whether this thing was really that stupid.

Drilbud’s not fooled, nope, not at all. But who would believe that cute little mouse-thing would lie? Poison Jab really was a stupid move to order; anyways, the Ferroseed was a plant. A golden beam shoots from her thorns, and the already-bright light turns blindingly white. Despite that she caused it, Drilbud cringes, averting her eyes.

Even though the Ferroseed’s eyesight is nearly null, Pika’s faring far worse. Running around blindly, he only just notices the blur of black and yellow trailing behind him; indeed, once Pika skids to a stop, Drilbud barely sees a circle of smirking Pichu around her.

By now, Drilbud’s having second thoughts about that move. Her pride won’t let her stop now, though, and almost as if she were being controlled by something else, she takes on another glow. This time, her entire body is covered in a second skin of light, and Drilbud seems to explode with the shine of a thousand suns. The Ferroseed sighs. What has she done now?

In the midst of the bright light, only now does Drilbud notice that she feels ever so slightly less tense. As the ref frantically presses buttons across the control panel (causing blindness really wouldn’t be too popular), she thinks to herself how absolutely stupid she was to fall for Pika’s trick.

All right, Drillbud. It looks like we've been doing quite well indeed so far; so this time around let's use a tactic that I've had my eye on for a while. Action 1, use Thunder Wave. Now, depending on a few different things this might change up the second action a little bit. So I want you to watch your opponent. If it successfully pulls off a Thunderbolt, you should be able to Protect soon enough to protect yourself. Otherwise, I want you to use another Seed Bomb. Also use seed bomb if you know you can't protect fast enough. And the same thing for action 3.

Drilbud’s really feeling quite optimistic about her chances; she’s perhaps a little tired, but that’s no matter when she can relax all she wants later. Spinning happily, her eyes twinkle as she basks in the bright artificial light. Pika’s rather glum and unnerved at the Ferroseed’s energy, though, cautiously inching away. The bright sunlight holds a shade of emerald for a moment, and Drilbud can almost feel a god of luck (or something, she absentmindedly adds) brushing up against her.

Pika springs up, ready for action…only to realize his trainer made another mistake. The name sounds familiar, that’s for sure, but almost as if it was from another time; trying to remember just what the move entailed, he racks his head, only to be thrown backward by another pulse of Project Memory. Sighing, he feebly creates a few sparks to show he was trying, and plops to the ground.

The Ferroseed cheerfully takes advantage of his pause and starts spinning once more; this time, she glows with a yellow tint. As the air around her begins to cackle and spark, Drilbud fires a tiny thorn at the Pichu, and the thorn seems to explode in a net of electricity right before Pika tries to scoot over, out of its path.

As Drilbud slows to a stop, looking pleased with herself, Pika groans – or at least, he would, if he could move a muscle in his body. He tries to force his legs to straighten until they suddenly spasm, and he falls over in pain. Miserable and hurting, he decides to try something new. His cheeks spark with blue and yellow light, gradually enveloping him, and he forces the electricity toward the Ferroseed.

The first lesson every Pokémon should learn is that using attacks while paralyzed never leads to good results, and despite the Pichu’s valiant efforts, the beam sputters out about halfway toward the durian. As miniscule flecks charge Drilbud, she feels somewhat sad; after all, he really was a cute little mouse. The Ferroseed half-heartedly throws up a blue shield, watching light dance across it.

Pika frowns. He furrows his eyebrows in thought (what if she threw up another sphere or something, after all), and shrugs, charging up another bolt. Fortune is against him today, though, and he loses all control, blue lines fizzing out around him.

Drilbud patiently waits for some sort of energy beam, leaning from side to side. Nothing comes, though, and she gladly bounds up several feet – how, no one’s quite sure, not even Drilbud – and she explodes, flinging her thorns outward. The Ferroseed lands neatly on one final spike as the thistles swerve around and coalesce, the ball rushing toward Pika.

Thrown back in a flash of green light, Pika flies into the glass wall. Rattled and worn out, he sighs. Drilbud’s paralysis is halfway gone, he’s scratched and aching, and the stupid sun won’t go away. Oh well, he supposes. There was always next round.

Superbird (OO)
Ferroseed
Drilbud (F) <Iron Barbs>
Health: 95%
Energy: 48%
Actions: Thunder Wave ~ Protect ~ Seed Bomb
- Excited. Attack +3, Accuracy +3. Paralyzed (Mild).

Skyman (OO)

Pika (M) <Static>
Health: 67%
Energy: 51%
Actions: [nothing] ~ Thunderbolt (paralyzed) ~ [paralyzed]
- Tired. Paralyzed (Moderate). Hidden Power Ground-typed.

Arena Notes: The weather-generator is still pounding out sun (three more rounds). A small shrub is growing about 15 feet from the edge of the dome.

Notes:
- Pika was fully paralyzed on actions two and three, but he managed to create a ~30 power Thunderbolt the second action.
- Pichu don’t learn Charge in Generation II.
- Pika’s Charm has worn off by now.
- For whatever reason, I forgot the “if Pika Thunderbolts, then Protect” clause in action two, so some remnants of that and/or awkward wording might have been overlooked.
- Also: Damage and energy totals brought to you by an altered form of Negrek’s scale (which isn’t quite done yet)!
- Superbird orders first.

Wonderful job, Drillbud!

Now. I think a little bit of a rest is in order, don't you? Let's chill once to start off. Then, you ought to try a Solarbeam. And then another chill. If your opponent successfully uses Double Team, replace a Solarbeam with Swagger. And Protect if it tries to throw any status conditions, major or minor, at you.

Chill/Protect ~ Solarbeam/Swagger/Protect x2

i actually gave you a reffing and you have the nerve not to command?!?!?

DQ warning for Skyman. You have somewhere between 24-36 hours to post.
