As the TCoD League championship moves on from Castelia City, the next stop is Unova's recreation hotspot, Nimbasa City. There are all kinds of attractions to choose from: the ferris wheel, the sports domes, and even the battle subway, perhaps a natural choice for a pokémon tournament. But let's be serious--these all pale into comparison to the real reason you'd want to visit Nimbasa City. After all, you haven't really lived until you've stuck a moustache on your Arceus and then chuckled to yourself as you watched the creator of the pokémon world prancing and rolling across the stage next to a patrat wearing cowboy boots.

Yes, the league is taking to the stage and setting its next round of battle to music. The battle takes place on one of the four Music Hall stages (Stardom, Forest Stroll, A Sweet Soiree, or Exciting Nimbasa), selected at random. The different backdrops have no effect on the battle. In addition, trainers may dress their pokémon up in any way that they wish, although costumes will also have no effect on the battle (even if they include things like weapons or props that would ordinarily be useful in a fight). However, they can also choose the music that will play during each round, and different tunes will have different effects on the pokémon battling.

Battles for this round will begin with the posting of each player's active squad as usual. After that, however, each player PM's their choice of pokémon, a description of that pokémon's costume, and their selection of songs and their effects to the referee. Each player chooses five songs and comes up with effects for them (appropriate effects are described below); these will be played in order, one during each round of battle, and the player who is ordering first in that round is always the one who will have his or her song playing during that round. Once the pokémon and songs have been received from both players, the referee will randomize which player gives commands first, then posts what pokémon each player will be using and the song (and the effects it will have on the battle) that will play for the first round--the first song on the list for the player who orders first in the first round. From that point forward, commands proceed as normal, with the referee posting the next song and its effects at the end of each round. If neither pokémon has been knocked out at the end of ten rounds, the winner will be determined by totaling each pokémon's health and energy, the same way it was during the previous round.

Any sort of music can be specified as the song for a given round, but please don't pick something offensive. Don't make me regret not restricting you to songs without lyrics, that is. A song can have a variety of effects on the battlefield, whether raising the power of some kinds of attacks for that round to healing status ailments. However, they must affect both pokémon equally--you can't have only your pokémon get an attack boost, for example. However, it's fine if you specify an effect that, due to the nature of your pokémon, will not affect the opponent the same as your pokémon; for example, if you specify that both pokémon will become severely poisoned but send out a steel-type, then your pokémon will not be poisoned even though your opponent's might. Effects that would ordinarily last multiple rounds (like trick room, weather attacks, or status conditions), if caused by a song, will last only for that round, and you can ask for weather effects even though pokémon won't be able to create them with their attacks. Effects always come into play at the beginning of the round, before either pokémon has the opportunity to act; thus, if a song will cause both pokémon to be burned, they will start out the round burned, and the burn can't be prevented by any of their attacks (i.e. you can't block a first-action burn with a safeguard).

Songs are restricted to causing damage/energy swings of no more than 3% (e.g. "All fire attacks cause 3% more damage after all effects" or "All fire attacks cost 3% less energy after all effects) and causing stat boosts/reductions of no more than two levels. They may also have only one effect: they cause hail to come into play or they increase fire-type attack damage by 3% or they cause both pokémon to fall asleep or they cause both pokémon to become paralyzed, etc., not any combination thereof. They also may not prevent the pokémon from acting in a round, e.g. "neither pokémon can use damaging attacks this round" or "neither pokémon can act this round", ban one or more attacks for the round, or alter the pokémon's movepools.

If you don't want to go to the trouble to figure out a set of songs for yourself and/or don't want your pokémon to fight in costume, then just let your referee know when you choose which pokémon to send out. They will come up with a list of randomly-selected pokémon-related songs with associated effects and then PM them back to you, so that you retain the advantage of knowing what will happen on each one of "your" song rounds. (Or, if the referee doesn't want to do that either, they can PM me and I'll provide the music for that player instead.)

Alright, let's go. bulbasaur will be sending out Helium the Delibird, wearing a santa hat and carrying a burlap sack. RespectTheBlade will be using -273 C (A.K.A. Zero) the Froslass, wearing a black mafia-style hat, a black scarf and a samurai sword in a scabbard on her back, similar to how Link has the master sword on his back. (Zero's reference sprite, minus the sword.)

bulbasaur attacks first, and the opening song is Feux Follets, performed by Nikolaï Lugansky. This will inflict a burn on both Pokémon.

Gah, I knew I should have chosen another Pokémon. Oh well, Helium, guess we'll just have to deal with it. If -273°C has Double Team Clones during the last action, Aerial Ace.

Curse~Curse~Sky-Attack/Aerial Ace

Alright, let's do this.

Zero, first I want you to Taunt him so the curses won't work. Second, let's take advantage of his song and Hex him. Finish with a Thunderbolt. Try and move as little as possible so you don't use up any extra energy due to the burn.
(Also, if you want to incorporate your sword into any of your attacks, go ahead. It's plastic, so it won't do anything, but it will look cool.)

Taunt ~ Hex ~ Thunderbolt

As both trainers nervously approach the stage for the second round of their tournament battle, the audience swiftly begins to flow into the room, chatting noisily about the impending show. The hall is all decked out and ready, and the Stardom backdrop slowly descends on the stage to complete the picture. When the crowd has taken their seats, both trainers hastily unleash their choice for the important battle: bulbasaur chooses Hleium the very festively dressed Delibird, and RespectTheBlade decides to go with Zero the Froslass, who tips her black cap at her foe.

Before the fight begins, both trainers take a moment to show off their choice of outfits for their Pokémon. RespectTheBlade's Froslass is decked out in a pitch black scarf and mafia style hat, plus a well-made plastic sword in a scabbard that she certainly appears to be quite fond of. The costume earns her a round of applause from the audience, plus a few loud cheers from the resident sword-fighting enthusiasts.

The crowd appears to be a little more dubious about Helium’s Santa get-up - it’s a little off-season isn’t it? Nevertheless, they greet the Delibird with a smattering of polite applause. The younger ones in the audience appear much more enthusiastic about Helium’s costume however, and he perks up a little as he hears the high-pitched cheers of delight.

As things get underway, a loud chorus of piano music flows through the room, and Helium closes his eyes and hums along happily. Zero just rolls her eyes at the choice of music; she knows what she wants, and that’s Fall out boy, Fall out boy and more Fall out boy. She’s just going to have to be patient though. Just as both Pokémon turn to face each other, the lights around them suddenly flicker and dim, casting the stage in a weak glow. Zero blinks in confusion and looks around uneasily, while Helium just gives a sigh and tries to brace himself. He’s been told about the deadly effect of the pleasant song beforehand, and he’s not looking forward to it. He hopes his trainer has a good plan in mind for it. Both Pokémon jump in surprise as the eerie howl of a Houndoom fills the air, and two bluish wisps of ghostly fire are unleashed onto the stage. The two will-o-wisps dance crazily through the air, each one heading off in their own direction. They both strike their mark too; each one splashes onto the chest of both battlers in a spray of blue fire, leaving an ugly, blackened scorch mark in their wake.

Round one

As the referee signals for the round to begin, both disgruntled looking ice types shakily turn to face each other. Zero scowls as she takes the moment to survey her burn; it missed her scarf, but it burnt a small hole through her icy, ethereal form, causing quite a nasty mark. Not a good look. She grumpily turns to face Helium again, determined to take out her ire on the fluffy little bird. He appears to be trying to concentrate on something, so Zero clears her throat and yells as loud as she can to distract him.
“Hey you! I think your calendars a little out of date!”
Helium gives a little startled jump, then looks up and rolls his eyes. Wow, that was an amazingly bad line. He’s tempted to retaliate, but Zero is much quicker off the mark. She sneers over at him, and begins making faces, much to Helium’s annoyance, then follows up her initial comment with some more childish jabs.
“Seriously though, who chose that outfit? You actually think anybody here is old enough to believe in Santa Claus?”

To Zero’s delight, this simple comment is the one that really sets the bird on edge. He gives a loud squawk and glares over at her, angrily puffing himself up.
Not only is that Froslass unbearably smug and stuck-up, but she wants to ruin the magic for everyone else! Helium has absolutely no intentions of letting this stand, and he decides to dispense some holly jolly justice straight to her face. He’s sure his trainer will understand. He lets loose a series of furious squawks, then promptly charges towards Zero, his rattling bag poised to strike. Zero warily backs away, but the furious little penguin is swiftly upon her, bashing her in the face with his bag. Zero gives an indignant shriek as she tries to bat Helium away, and manages to give him a few good slaps to the face before he is forced to back off. Zero scowls as she carefully straightens her scarf and hat, then checks for any damage done to her awesome sword. Thankfully, her outfit still looks to be in good condition, and she takes the opportunity to stick her tongue out at the seething Delibird.

The gesture does nothing to improve Helium’s foul mood, and he glares daggers at the mocking ghost as he prepares to deliver another sound thrashing. Zero is quicker to react however, and she deftly draws her magnificent looking sword, brandishing it threateningly at the bird. Helium pauses, then snorts dismissively. Does she really think she can impress him with that stupid plastic thing? Zero ignores Helium’s scathing look, and prepares to put on a little show before she dishes out the hurt. She’s not exactly that familiar with this whole sword play thing, so she just does what she thinks looks cool. She swipes at the air with her sword, grinning nastily at Helium as she twirls about and jabs the blade in his direction. Of course, she could pull off much more fancy moves if she didn’t have this nasty burn to worry about, as she has to move carefully so as not to aggravate it. A bit annoying yes, but the crowd seems to find it charming, judging by the sound of the cheers. Gradually however, she conjures up something much more dangerous looking; a black mist of ghostly energy begins to twist and writhe around her sword, flowing outwards in thick, inky strands. The sight of the horrible looking stuff sets Helium on edge, but he’s feeling too wound up to play it safe. He raises his bag up again and charges towards her determinedly. Zero keeps her cool, and she mutters the final words to complete the nasty spell, then thrusts her sword and sends the pitch black cloud billowing towards Helium.

Helium falters in his advance as he sees the ominous blot approaching him, but it quickly engulfs him before he even has time to react. It immediately reacts to his burn wound, further aggravating it and biting away with ghostly energy. Helium gives a muffled cry of pain, and flails about wildly, trying to escape the dark surrounding him, but with little success. The cloud is deceptively strong, and clings to him like tar. Each time he lashes out with his wings, he only succeeds in getting further strung up, and getting a fierce burn for his troubles. Zero snickers and twirls her sword about as she watches the Delibird try to escape the mess. The darkness blocks most of her view, but judging by his horrified squawking, she can safely assume that her opponent isn’t having good time in there. She’s taken by surprise however, when Helium finally manages to escape from the hex cloud, bursting out in a spray of black. He gives a loud and angry squawk, then abruptly swings his bag at her face. Zero scowls, and manages to dodge the initial swing, but the Delibird is soon upon her again, pecking and thrashing at every bit of her he can reach. The element of surprise is gone though, and Zero is no longer impressed by Helium’s viciousness. She quickly lashes back at the flailing bird, deftly fending off his angry assault.

Helium gives an indignant cry and staggers backwards, glaring over at the Froslass. Zero just sniffs and snatches up her fallen hat, then draws out her sword again. She carefully waves the blade about, trying not to put any pressure on her scorched skin, and a current of electricity travels from her body, winding around the blade in a crackle of sparks. She grins at Helium before she jabs her sword forward, unleashing the current in a spiralling bolt. Helium gives a shriek of pain as the current runs through him, sending vicious sparks crackling around his body. When the electricity eventually fades, he’s left looking slightly more blackened than before, and it takes him considerable effort to rise to his feet again.

Helium winces, moving on shaky legs as he tries to position himself for his big attack. He’s been waiting for this opportunity since the start of the round after all. Zero’s smug face eggs him on, and he carefully crouches down, closing his eyes as he begins to focus. A fiery golden aura swiftly engulfs him, and when he opens his eyes again, they’re also glowing a bright gold. Zero’s grin fades a little, and she looks on warily as the aura surrounding Helium grows in intensity. Finally, Helium bursts forward, rapidly flapping his stubby wings as he rushes towards his foe. Zero snarls in pain as the bird collides with her in dazzling glow of golden light, knocking both of them backwards. When the light fades, a slightly calmer but highly ruffled Delibird staggers backwards, wincing and clutching at his burn. Zero also gingerly rises up again, a little shaken by the attack, but overall more surprised at the lack of punch behind it. It was a sky attack after all, but apparently that silly penguin didn't think about the consequences that would have on his own burn wound.

As the round draws to a close, the piano music slowly fades away, and a cheerful looking Audino hops onto the stage. She grins at the two battlers, then holds out her arms and unleashes a ring of soft, white light, which descends on the two Pokémon, swiftly cleansing away their burns. With that done, she hops away again.

Alright, This should be good. Avalanche thrice, and make sure you let him attack first, even though you're faster. The extra damage should sting, and he's probably going to use Ice moves this round, so no worries. (He can't really do much anyway.) If you're low on energy the last action (under 40%, though I don't think you will be) or he uses protect/detect/etc at any point, Chill. (No pun intended.) If he tries to Counter, switch to Blizzard in lieu of Avalanche.

Avalanche/Blizzard/Chill x3

I can't really think of how one would conjure ice-covered rocks in this arena, as it is in the banned moves section. So just make Sky Attack hit twice, then Chill if you have the time. But if you see Frosslass produce, by some magical means, rocks on the first action, go on and make Double-Team clones. Lots of them.

Round two

After a brief lull, the next song booms over the arena, and Zero grins widely. Helium just rolls his eyes; he already knows Zero is his enemy, he doesn't need further confirmation. Still, there is an icy vibe to this tune that he can kinda dig.

As Helium glowers over at her, Zero just grins back at him, then sheathes her sword and simply stands there with her arms crossed. The Delibird takes a step forward and watches as an icy aura begins to surround the Froslass, causing a few shivers among the crowd. Helium hesitates a little, then decides to take a gamble. He puts his bag down, then holds out his stubby wings and flaps forward, gradually picking up speed as he goes. Identical copies quickly begin to form in his wake, flapping along behind him and mimicking his movements. When he slows to a halt, seven Delibirds now surround the Froslass.

Zero’s grin quickly becomes a frown as she sees the multiple Delibirds parading across the stage, and she warily inspects each of them in turn. That wasn’t quite what she was expecting, but she’s just going to have to roll with it. She remains completely still and closes her eyes, surrounding herself in a freezing blue aura of icy energy. Gradually, a multitude of ice-coated rocks begin to form in front of her, hovering ominously in the air. With that done, Zero’s eyes snap open, and she charges at a random target with a loud screech, the swarm of icy rocks floating along with her.

Zero slams into a Delibird, and sends the cascade of icy boulders pouring forward for good measure. Zero’s smirk soon reappears as her target remains solid, and the chosen Delibird lets out a loud screech of pain as it is sent hurtling to the ground. Helium’s copies abruptly flicker and die as their creator is struck, completely dispelling the illusion. Zero gives a few enthusiastic fist-bumps as she celebrates her good luck, while the disgruntled looking Helium struggles wildly to free himself from the remnants of her attack.

Zero watches on confidently as Helium angrily tries to push aside the broken shards of rock. When he finally digs himself out of the constricting pieces, he dons his tattered looking hat again and glares over at her. This really isn’t his day, but he’s not about to give up just yet. The Delibird crouches down, and the familiar aura of fiery gold begins to surround him, flaring up brightly like a bonfire. Upon seeing this, Zero quickly gets into position for her own attack, and her body glows with a bright blue of aura of icy energy as she prepares to summon the avalanche again.

For a few moments, the crowd watches with anticipation as both Pokémon prepare to unleash their attacks. Zero grows a little impatient as she waits for Helium to strike, and the temperature in the room noticeably drops as she hangs onto her attack. Finally, Helium rushes forward with his stubby wings stretched out and the aura around him blazing outwards in the shape of two magnificent wings. He forcefully collides with the ghost, drawing a wail of pain from her, but also unleashing the icy hell upon himself. Zero sends the cascade of icy boulders crashing down on top of him even as she is sent flying back, and Helium gives a muffled cry as he is buried under the torrent of ice and rock.

Zero winces and picks herself up again, wavering slightly from the vicious collision. She looks over at her opponent as she rubs her aching head, and is pleased to see that he certainly paid the price for his actions. The pile of rock is shaking slightly as he struggles to free himself, and she can see hints of bright red feathers peeking out. She gives a small chuckle, then crosses her arms and whistles as she waits for him to dig his way out. Of course, her head is thumping painfully, and she’s still feeling a bit sore, but she’s gotta play it cool for the crowd after all.

Zero looks up quickly as she sees shards of icy rock suddenly go flying, and a very worn out looking Delibird pulls himself out of the wreckage. His feathers are badly ruffled, and patches of them are missing, giving him a rather hap-hazard look. He also seems to have lost his bag amongst the hail of rocks, but he’s managed to keep a hold of his hat, which also looks very ragged. He still seems determined to solider on though, and he shakily crouches down as he readies himself to strike back. Zero looks on grimly, then raises her arms and starts to summon another icy torrent. The crowd is left watching tensely as both Pokémon prepare themselves again, until....

Helium bursts forward with a loud cry, the aura around him flaring up in the same intricate display. Zero braces herself, and as the Delibird bashes into her, she sends the cascade of boulders crashing down on top of him with all of its icy fury. In the aftermath of the next stand-off, both Pokémon are looking somewhat worse for wear; Zero is left grimacing from the second tremendous collision, gingerly inspecting the wounds done to her spectral form, and Helium is left buried under an even bigger pile of icy rock. The Delibird gives a few strangled squawks, and manages to dislodge the worst of the constricting mess, but is left breathing heavily from the effort.

As the song draws to a close and the next one prepares to play, the crowd is left looking quite excited after the eventful round. A lot of people are left shivering though, and the ref makes a mental note to start selling some hot chocolate after the match. A small fortune is waiting to be made.

- Avalanche produces its own rocks for the attack, so it doesn't require any terrain resources.
- Double team produced six clones, and Zero hit the original on her first go. That was really horrible luck bulbasaur, sorry.
- Huh, it's actually pretty easy to forget how powerful sky attack is.
- The next song is Eroica, performed by Dmytro Sukhovienko. Each Pokémon get a +1 boost to both their Attack and Special Attack each time they are hit with an attack. (Eroica translates to "heroic")

...I'm so sorry, Helium, for not thinking of that possibility. I was being too vain. Luck does not want us to win, it seems, and Luck's associate, Fate, always has its way. That said, I spent sleepless nights thinking over these, and I think we'll pull through. Fly high into the sky and stay there on the first action to make your Double-Team clones. If you can still be hit by Blizzard on your second action, fly up until you don't have time to dive back down and go back up in one action before you dive down for the Sky Attack, then go back up for the next attack. Make sure you act last for each of the Sky Attacks, waiting out even the Avalanches Zero might try to do (well, there's one advantage to attacking first). If you ever have less than 2 clones, make more. If you can't go up on the first action, use Protect, then use Sky Attack then try again on the second action (that would be your second conditional). If you still can't, try again on the third action.

Fly up and Double team (max)~Fly up and Sky Attack and fly back up/Sky Attack and fly back up/Double Team (max)~Sky Attack and go back up into the air/Double Team (max)

Sorry for horribly complicated commands.

Ok, time for a counterattack, Zero. Disable him first, he used Double Team and Sky Attack last round. Then follow up with 2 Ice Beams. If he attacks for some reason, let him attack first and retaliate with a powered up Avalanche. If you can't hit him for whateer reason, use a Double Team of your own for the max amount of clones, followed by a Chill.

Round three

As the next song starts up, the weary Helium suddenly feels himself perking up just a little. It's enough to spur him into action again to try and fully free himself for the flight ahead. While he struggles his way out of the rest of the rocks with renewed determination, Zero claps her hands, and a grey spark jumps to life between them. Helium freezes in place, then wavers on the spot with a slightly dazed look on his face. His head is thumping, and he’s weirdly positive that he’s forgetting something important, but try as he might, he can’t seem to remember it. He shakes his head and grimaces, racking his brain for what he’s forgotten, but to no avail. Eventually, he decides he’s going to have to put it aside for now; he can’t linger too long or else Zero will take advantage. Luckily for him, he can remember his first command well enough, so he roughly pushes aside the last shard of rock, then rapidly flaps his stubby little wings. He gradually begins to ascend, flying up and up until he reaches the roof of the hall. He hovers in the air for a moment, then zooms forward, building up speed as he flaps along. Zero peers up at him, watching as the little red and white bird zips around, leaving a trail of illusionary copies in his wake. She has to admit, he can fly impressively fast on those ridiculous wings.

Gradually, Helium begins to slow down, then remains hovering on the spot with his army of clones in tow. He looks down anxiously at his foe, who stares back up at him with an unreadable expression. Zero cups her hands and blows out a stream of freezing cold vapour, forming an icy blue orb of energy. She then unleashes it in a freezing beam of ice, which streams towards the host of Delibird parading above her. Her luck does not hold this time however, and the ice beam deftly cuts through a copy, coating the curtain behind the fake in a thin layer of ice.

As Zero curses, Helium breathes a sigh of relief, but his worries aren’t over yet. He’s sure that his next command should be familiar to him, but he just can’t seem to remember the exact technique… For a few moments, he flutters around, looking dumbfounded and feeling panicky. He can remember the alternate commands he was issued with though, so he frantically goes with them instead. He zips around the stage again, flapping his little wings furiously as more copies flicker into life behind him. As he slows down to a hover again, there’s an awful lot of Delibird flying near the roof of the hall, and it certainly makes for a colourful sight.

Zero certainly doesn’t appreciate the display however, and her scowl deepens as she sees the new copies spring to life. She doesn’t have many options at the moment, so she sends another freezing cold beam streaming up towards the swarm of birds above. She has no better luck this time though; another copy is wiped out and another portion of the curtain is coated with frost. Adding to her problems, the somewhat addled Delibird is flapping around madly again, scattering more copies around in his wake. It's looking considerably crowded up there now, and Zero is not amused.

ANYWAY yeah. So, Zero, we're in a very good position here. Due to No Guard, all our attacks will hit, unless he protects. So, simply use Blizzard thrice. If he protect/detects, let's create some clones of our own. Double Team the max amount of clones the first time he protects, and then Chill for any subsequent protects. Let's do this.

Blizzard/Double Team (Max Clones) ~ Blizzard/Chill x2

Oof, I'm a few days late with this. My apologies.

This round is sadly predictable. I'll take my chances, until next round comes, with its song's effect.

Here's to hoping we get lucky!

Round four

The next song that starts up is somewhat on the gloomy side, but it seems to inspire both battlers to make a slight change in their fighting stance. Zero softly hums along with the song as she tenses up, and Helium shifts about restlessly in the air, her eyes trained on her opponent.

Zero holds her arms out wide, and the temperature in the room noticeably begins to drop, causing shivers to run through the crowd. A swirling torrent of ice and snow begins to whirl around her, gradually building in intensity until she finally unleashes the howling blizzard at the unfortunate Delibird above. Helium is so focused on her foe, that it doesn't even occur to her to fly out of the way until the last second, and she gives a screech of pain as the potent ice storm strikes her dead on. Her copies vanish instantly as their creator is pelted with the vicious blizzard, and it takes all of Helium's effort not to plummet back to earth from the force of the ice and snow. Although her fluffy feathers shield her from most of the bitter cold, her wings are much more sensitive to the zero temperature, and she careens wildly through the air as the ice bites at them. She was planning on descending anyway, though this wasn't the smooth landing she had in mind.

Zero looks on smugly as the half-frozen Delibird clumsily descends, and she can feel her mood lifting somewhat after the successful attack. Helium lands roughly on the stage, almost slipping on a stray shard of rock as she attempts to right herself. She’s aching all over from the force of the ice-storm, but her wings got the worse of the attack, and she gingerly tries to shake the frost stubbornly clinging to them. She grimaces and warily looks over at the ice ghost floating near her, then clears her throat and moves a little closer. She really isn’t too keen on provoking her after that horrible strike she just dealt her, but on the other hand, this might be her chance to turn things around. She’s just going to have to hope her luck holds out this time. Helium quickly launches into a boastful speech; scornfully berating her on such a pathetic attack and blathering on about how she could summon up a much superior blizzard. It's a little difficult for the weary Delibird to get in the mood for bragging at first, but she eventually manages to get into the swing of things, and even begins to enjoy the dumbstruck look on Zero's face. Even if it does signal more pain in her future...

Zero’s eyes grow wider as Helium goes on and on, and she’s left standing there, completely amazed at her foe's nerve. She isn’t left frozen for long though, as the Froslass can feel red hot rage bubbling up within her. The nerve of that stupid bird! She's dominated this whole match and now she's suddenly mouthing off with all this ridiculous bragging? Obviously she needs more convincing then! She gives a furious wail, cutting Helium’s bragging short, and she looks on nervously as the ghost’s eyes begin to glow with a deep, icy blue light. Helium quickly begins to back away even as the enraged ghost advances, her cold gaze locked firmly on her. Helium scrambles around hastily to prepare herself, and manages to create the familiar sheen of translucent green energy, which surrounds her in a protective dome. She closes his eyes shut and crouches down behind it, hoping for the best. Zero abruptly stops short as she sees the shimmering green shield, and she gives a frustrated growl as she realises the hated bird is out of bounds for now.

For a moment, she simply stands there, quietly seething, but she still has enough control left to remember her commands. She reluctantly settles down near the ground and crosses her arms as she remains glaring at the Delibird, barely managing to restrain herself from trying to blast him again, protective shield or not. The sudden lull inspires Helium to open her eyes again, and she’s somewhat relieved to see that Zero is just sitting around passively for now, even if it does mean her shield will go to waste. She wishes he could hold it for a just a little longer, as Zero's thunderous expression is pretty unsettling, but she is gradually forced to let the protective sheen fade away. Zero’s nasty grin quickly returns as she sees her injured opponent left completely defenseless. She leaps up immediately, her sights firmly set on her target as she prepares to strike her down for his insolence. Helium winces as she sees her stream towards him, but luckily enough, her opponent is a little too eager in her advance, and her eyes widen in shock as she finds herself over-shooting her target and bashing painfully into the stage.

If she’d been in better shape, Helium might have managed to crack a smile at her opponent’s slip-up. As it is, the Delibird isn’t in the mood for laughing, and she quickly busies himself in taking advantage of his opponent’s mistake. She crouches down and takes a deep breath, trying to summon up the strength needed to unleash the strenuous attack. It’s starting to get tougher and tougher, but she eventually manages to shroud himself in the same fiery gold glow until her whole body is ablaze with the blinding light. As the fiery glow extends outwards to form the shape of two spiky wings, Helium plunges forward, her own stubby wings flapping madly. She collides with Zero just as she is angrily picking herself up. Zero gives a shriek of pain and rage as her hated foe strikes her with surprising force, and sends her flying back again to land in an undignified heap.

As the music fades, both Pokémon (as well as their costumes) are left looking worse for wear. Zero is too consumed by hate to realise how bad her wounds are however, and the ragged looking ghost is still glaring daggers at the hunched over Delibird.

Battle notes

- Sorry, just realised I had sky attack do 16 damage instead of 18 in the earlier round. Fixed now.
- Next song is Ricordanza, performed by Berezovsky. The effect is that both Pokémon's HP may not fall below 1% any time during the round.
- Bulbasaur attacks first.

This round is a critical round, and absolutely nothing must go wrong with it. I'm counting on you, Helium! (Although RTB will probably exploit a loophole. Again.)

Make Sky Attack hit once. Make Aerial Ace hit once. Chill if Zero Protects. Aerial Ace if Zero has Double-Team Clones. If Zero turns invisible, just chill. Fly up on the last action, no matter what. Priority, in conflicting situations, goes to the later clause, but try accomodate the former clauses as well if at all possible (for example, if Zero has double-team clones the first action but not the second, your commands would be Aerial Ace~Sky-Attack~Fly(up)).

Sky Attack/Aerial Ace/Chill~Sky Attack/Aerial Ace/Chill~Fly (Up)

Let's try and smoke him out on both counts. Lead with Confuse Ray, hit him with an Avalanche, and then Chill. He should be quite low on energy and health, by my accounts.

....Yeah, I meant to correct that, but then I forgot. Sorry about that! Good thing nobody used attract.

Round five

The next song to fill the arena is somewhat on the soothing side, though it does little to calm the enraged Froslass that is currently intent on hurling herself at her foe. She's still somewhat addled by the nasty bump she received last round, and her advance is as equally clumsy and uncoordinated. Helium rapidly backs away as the snarling ghost looms above her, but Zero's reckless dive yields exactly the same results as her last attempt, and she gives a shriek of rage as she overshoots her mark.

Helium breathes a sigh of relief as she sees Zero collide with the stage again, and quickly tries to take advantage of the slip-up while she can. She crouches down, then musters up all her remaining energy as she attempts to pull off another sky attack. The fiery aura slowly shimmers into life around her, but it takes much longer than before, and Helium can feel panic setting in as she wonders if she can even manage it. Eventually however, the blazing aura flares up around her, spreading outwards into the shape of two magnificent wings. Helium grimaces as she launches forward, all her muscles straining as she struggles to get moving. The addled and irritated looking Zero gives another angry shriek as Helium bashes into her yet again, knocking the ghost clean out of the air.

Zero slowly floats upwards again, and her ethereal body looks strangely faint and ragged with all the damage she’s sustained. She gives a furious snarl as she summons up the cascade of icy rocks, then promptly charges towards Helium. Helium struggles upright again, almost toppling over before she manages to regain her balance, and is quickly rewarded with an avalanche of icy pain. Helium staggers forward on shaky legs, then flaps her wings feebly as she tries to build some speed. Zero howls in pain as Helium suddenly lashes out at her, delivering a swift strike across her head.

The movement is costly to Helium; she’s shaking with the effort of remaining standing, and wavering unsteadily on her feet. Zero glares over at her as she rubs her aching forehead, but her anger is starting to fade away now, and is rapidly being replaced by fear and panic as she realises how bad her wounds are. The Froslass welcomes the opportunity for a breather, but she can only hope the Delibird won’t take it as her chance to deal out more pain.

Luckily for her, Helium has no intentions of attacking just now. She furiously flaps her stubby wings, and struggles to take to the air again. She ascends with agonising slowness, and her whole body is quivering as she draws upon her dwindling energy supplies. Eventually, she manages to reach the roof again, and she remains hovering there, looking tired and worried.

Avalanche has lower priority than Aerial Ace, so Zero should have attacked last and with the extra power.
