DarkAura vs. Phantom

The forest was beautiful: not dense enough to get in the way, not dense enough to block all light. The ground was made of well-composed dirt, relatively free of stones. And, overheard the referee, the battlers were going to destroy it all. Typical. With a resigned sigh, the referee got his flags and set to work.

Round 6 begin!

Blitz was feeling pretty good about the battle at this point. Her opponent was almost dropping from fatigue, and victory would soon be hers. To celebrate her advantage in the battle, she sat, raised her head, and Howled - ArrrooooooooOOOOOOoooo. She felt her confidence soar. This battle was hers. She was dominating this, and nothing could stop her! She turned to Artemis with a smirk on her face, waiting for whatever action may come, only to find out that she was relaxing and Chilling the whole time.

Blitz bared her fangs, and, filled with confidence, rushed toward the still relaxing Rock Turtle and bit. Artemis squirmed uncomfortably, but found that she was not paralyzed. Feeling grateful, she leapt up and slammed her body back down, producing a weak shock wave that nonetheless knocked all six Blitzes off of their feet. Growling, Blitz got back up and brushed herself off. Then, she raised her head to the sky once more - but this time, it wasn't for a pep rally. Oh no. Artemis was going to pay big-time for this.

A huge bolt of lightning came from the sky; the strike came first, then Artemis cried out in pain, and then came the sonicboom. Artemis was knocked back several metres and hit the ground with a wide array of injuries, which did not include, to Artemis' relief, Paralysis. She limped back to the centre of the arena, and again produced a shockwave of a different kind; she slammed the ground with her whole body and watched as again the wave of seismic energy knocked Blitz off her feet.

The referee decided that this was enough for one round and waved his flags; as soon as he did, the forest came down. Then, seemingly, the Moon slowly blocked the Sun, leaving a fiery halo around it; the arena was cast in darkness and the battlers were left wondering if this was the illusion of the PokéStadium or a very lucky coincidence.

Round 6 end!

Notes:
  • Arena was Forest this round; will be Default (dark) next round.
  • No critical hits
  • Neither Thunder Fang nor Thunder caused paralysis
  • Thunder Fang did not cause Flinching
  • Artemis hit the damage cap.
  • Thunder Fang does a disproportionate amount of damage given the energy it takes
  • In my mind, Bulldoze wouldn't destroy clones because they're all hit simultaneously and it is impossible to distinguish them from the real McCoy.
  • Artemis' dual-typing does not affect damage from electric attacks

Arena Notes:
  • Default (Dark): The sun has entered into an annular eclipse. This is probably an illusion created by the machine, though. There is still enough light to see roughly where objects are. The field is simple and free of all obstacles.

OK, so the turtle is still there.

I want you to use Thunder, if they chill use Roar, try to make them scared, maybe that will make the chill restore less energy. Rinse, repeat. Use your clones to the best of your advantage as well as the dark.

Let's take a reasonable risk.

Double team as many clones as you can without losing all your energy at the end of the round. Then just chill. Just chill.

Having determined that the eclipse was an illusion created by the machine, all parties were disappointed but not surprised. The Pokémon checked, prepared, and rested, the referee started the round.

Round 7 begin!

Artemis was close to collapsing, and would be struck down in just a couple of rounds, so she threw up some duplicates of her. Blitz, seeing this, summoned a now familiar bolt from the sky, but by the time it struck Artemis, there was more than one of Artemis. The Artemis which was struck by the lightning vanished, and Blitz looked on in disappointment at the three remaining turtles.

Feeling safe for the round now, Artemis just curled up and Chilled. But before she could fully recover her energy, she heard an unnerving roar, emanating from an unknown, variable origin hidden by the darkness. She shook the feeling of forebodement off, and set again to recover as much of her precious energy as possible. This was again disrupted by the Roar coming from Blitz.

As the round drew to a close, the Sun, blindingly bright, came out of hiding. It was also revealed that Blitz was right behind Artemis. The referee signaled an end to the round, and the machine whirled and sputtered; the arena sunk and filled with briny water while a trench materialized on the perimeter. Familiar with this routine, the participants expressed little wonder at the mysterious change.

Heeheehee.

Use Discharge, try to hit all the clones, don't worry about yours, you don't need them anymore. If you keep using discharge and keep getting rid of clones they'll have to keep making them, and they won't be able to chill. *evil face* Also they never specified how many... so just try to hit all of them with each discharge attack. YOU GOT THIS!

Discharge x3

Evil little elf! But I'll never quit this, i'm fighting to the end!!!

Lessee........goddammit......i think i'll run out of energy. =(

The battlers could sense the battle drawing to a close. While DarkAura and her partner Artemis were fighting for all they were worth, all they could really do was lie low and rest. Meanwhile, Phantom and her partner Blitz would do anything to deny them the opportunity of rest. Facing each other with the strangest of expressions, they ordered, and then the referee got to work.

Round 8 begin!

Blitz, distracted by no ifs, buts, or ands, was able to produce an exceptionally quick wave of electricity; it jumped throughout the arena, deftly avoiding humans but hit every one of Artemis' clones in addition to Artemis herself. Though somewhat weakened by the arena, the wave still severely damaged Artemis and stripped her of her clones. Sighing, she swam around surprisingly quickly given her normal speed on land; by the time she slowed down, she was followed by three more of her. Those, however, were of no use as Blitz just simply destroyed them all, again, with a Discharge of electricity. This one hit Artemis head-on and caused Artemis to be stiff and disoriented for a moment.

Dejected, Artemis set about recreating her clones, all three of which were again promptly destroyed by the crackling electricity. The electricity was starting to take its toll on Artemis as various burns and cuts could be seen on her skin and carapace, and it didn't see like she could last much longer. As she set out to recreate her clones one last time, Artemis was suddenly unable to coordinate her fins and unable to create her clones. As the referee signaled the end of the round, Blitz could be heard barking with laughter, the subject being Artemis' failure, even as the arena changed form and a familiar volcano and trench of magma came into existence.

If at any point they try to chill use Roar to stop them. If they make more clones use discharge again. Otherwise Thunder Fang should work nicely.

A certain kind of tension was in the air, a tension that only battlers in the final round of a battle would know. Blitz awaited the next round vigilantly while Artemis saved her energy and zoned out. Eventually, the referee felt that the tension was high enough and called a start to the round.

Round 9 begin!

Blitz had to restrain herself from just attacking - instead, she observed Artemis. When it was clear that the turtle would attack, she set forth and ran toward Artemis, who fired some sharp stones at Blitz. Unfortunately, the stones went right through Blitz - that was when Artemis realized that there were six Blitz's. She gave a shriek of pain when Blitz bit down on her now-vulnerable shell.

Not giving up, she summoned the last of her energy to produce another one of the attacks. However, she faltered while firing, missing even a clone of Blitz. That was when she just collapsed on the rocky ground while the referee waved his flags to signal the end of the round, and, consequently, the battle.

Round 9 end!
End of battle between DarkAura and Phantom

DarkAura couldn't help but be disappointed at the outcome of the battle. Early on, it seemed like the battle would belong to her, but then the tides turned, and things went downhill. Of course, she reasoned as she withdrew Artemis into her Pokéball, everything is like that. Nothing is static, and there is no such thing as a surefire victory. Meanwhile, Phantom was tackled to the ground by Blitz, helpless under the weight of the wolf.

The battle having been drawn to a close, the referee pressed a button on the machine and the arena reverted back to its wonderfully normal form. The referee offered a ride on a League Pidgeot. Phantom decline and sent out Fl'hight while DarkAura accepted. Together, the battlers and the referee left the island bearing the Pokéstaduim.

Prizes

I could ramble on here for ages about the merits of this battle, but I think I should just get straight to the point: Artemis gets 1 EXP while Blitz gets 2. DarkAura gets $3, Phantom gets $8, and I get $5.

AWWWWWW YEAH
GO PHANTOM
A WINNER IS YOU

I looked at Artemis' Health, and I believe that she'd have fainted anyway from Thunder Fang.
