A giant, giant church. Like literally. Giant. Think giant, and then multiply that by giant. The place where The Hunchback of Notre Dame was set? That was here. Some images: Pretty, inside, inside again, oh yeah did I mention it's covered in gargoyles, and these creepy statues, pretty window, fun to smash, surrounded by water if you manage to get outside.

Because yes, battle takes place inside the church. Of course it might not stay there, but that's where it starts. There are probably some tourists around but it isn't the peak of the tourist season so they won't interfere with the battle - plus, who wants to get in the way of bustling pokemon?

There are no rules when it comes to destruction. Destruction is, in fact, key. Well, winning is key, but destruction is a side bonus.

Other: No fully evolved pokemon. Middle-stages are okay.

Byrus I don't know if I've mentioned this but I have extreme feelings of fondness for you. I'll send out Boom the onix because destruction.

Ack, now I have that stupid song about boom and wanting someone in your room stuck in my head. Curse you and your nicknaming!

Alright, Sabriel, time to get moving. Sadly, between your foe's typing, ability, and equipped item, you're going to have a tough time wearing them down, but you're a bit better off than Thom or Ace would be. Start out by lobbing some Toxic at the big snakey-wakey. Keep it up until she get's all poisoned out. Shoot off a Dark Pulse or two if you have time. If, during any action, she's Protecting, has dug underground (unlikely with the flagstone floor), has climbed onto the ceiling (slightly more likely), or done some other shenanigan-y thing to avoid you and your attacks, swap your action for Howling your frustration.

Toxic/Howl~Toxic/Dark Pulse/Howl~Toxic/Dark Pulse/Howl

Okay, Boom, let's set up a substitute for 10% of your health and have that take those toxics. I'm pretty sure that counts as shenanigany, so we're gonna go ahead and screech over Sabriel's howling. Then earthquake.

Substitute (10%) ~ Screech ~ Earthquake

The twisted faces of stone gargoyles leer down at the three trainers as they approach the immense building, silently watching as they rapidly make their way up the stone steps flanked by the immobile sentries. The interior of the looming church is deathly silent and mostly empty of the bustling crowd of people it normally sees, though a few stragglers are lingering around in anticipation of the promised destruction. The silence is broken by the creaking of the entrance doors, and the footsteps of the trainers echo hollowly as they make their way past the rows of pews.

Pathos begins by sending out the towering form of Boom the Onix. The sheen of Boom's crystallized body makes for a beautiful sight, and the segments of her twisting form slowly rotate as she stretches out. Boom gives a satisfied grunt at the room that the church offers, then glares over at the trainer opposite her and she awaits her opponent. ole_schooler takes a few moments to think about which of their team would be best suited to fight the giant monster; their limited options make it a tough choice. After some thought, they lob forth a pokéball, and Sabriel the Poochyena materializes in the church. Sabriel gives an eager bark, but she falters a little when she sees her mammoth foe. She takes an uncertain step forward, then gives a low growl as she tries to mentally prepare herself for the taxing fight ahead.

Round one

Sabriel bares her over-sized fangs at her giant opponent, trying her best not to show her fear. Boom glares down at her tiny foe, then slides her tail forward and smacks it against the floor. The flagstone cracks apart, then twists and writhes through the air as it rapidly begins to reassemble itself into the serpentine shape of an Onix. Sabriel watches warily as the creation begins to form, and although it’s smaller than Boom, it still makes for an intimidating sight. Its craggy body is a hap-hazard patchwork of flooring and dirt, and its eyes are hollow and empty. Boom quickly fixes that problem however, when she breathes some life into the new creation, and its eyes light up with a bright silver spark.

The substitute springs to life at once, and it twists its bulky form around to place itself protectively in front of its creator. Sabriel growls softly at the two towering monsters as she rethinks her plans. Looks like a generous dose of toxins is off the cards for now. She retreats back a little, then raises her head and lets loose a piercing howl which reverberates throughout the church, filling her with renewed confidence.

With that done, Sabriel gives a toothy grin at Boom and hops from paw to paw, but Boom doesn’t appear overly impressed with her opponent’s newfound bravado. The Onix and her substitute glare down at the tiny Poochyena as she lets out another long howl, her head thrown back as she belts out the mournful noise. Boom gives an unimpressed grunt at the racket Sabriel is making, then opens her rocky maw wide. Sabriel’s howling trails off into a startled yelp as Boom suddenly lets loose a bellowing screech that rattles the building to its very foundations. Sabriel’s ears flatten against her head as she cowers down against the horrible noise, her tail tucked between her legs. Boom finishes off her horrendous symphony with one last hearty bellow, then snaps her jaws shut with a satisfied smirk.

The Onix is quick to follow up her success; she raises her tail high, then slams it viciously onto the floor, badly startling the jumpy Sabriel in the process. Boom follows up her strike with another hearty whack, and soon enough, the floor begins to rattle and shake. Sabriel crouches low against the cracking tiles, her eyes darting around fearfully. She gives a breathless woof as she is suddenly flung forward by the unstable ground, and tossed about bodily like a rag-doll. The pews begin to shake and split along with the shifting earth, and Sabriel barely manages to duck in time when a jagged splinter of wood comes flying towards her.

Boom gives a low, rumbling growl as she watches the whimpering Sabriel's bumpy ride, then finally lowers her tail with one last bang. The wrecked floor slowly begins to stop shaking, and the rattled Sabriel falls head-first onto the cold hard floor with a graceless thump. She gives a muffled groan as she shakily and painfully raises up again, her head and body aching from the impact of the flagstone. Why couldn't they have settled on a nice, fuzzy carpet? Sabriel shakes her head and grimaces, then gives a low and uncertain growl as she tries to work on pumping herself up again. She lets loose another howl, and although the initial note sounds weak and shaky, she gradually manages to build up volume. As her call trails off, Sabriel straightens herself up a bit and forces herself to look up at the giant beasts looming over her. Her howling doesn’t ease the pain that the earthquake caused, but it does perk her up a little at least.

Ahh :D Somehow, reffings involving one of my favourite mons are always the best.

Okay! I want to destroy the arena a bit more. Go for a rock slide, using banisters or gargoyles or something. If you can't figure out what to use for rocks, just earthquake again. If you didn't rock slide before and you can now, do it; if you did, go for a rock tomb. Finally, if you think there's enough rocky-sandness, whip up a sandstorm; if not, just curse. Oh, and if at any time your sub is gone and Sabriel is commanded to use a status-inflicting move, set up another sub for 15%.

Rock Slide / Earthquake / Substitute (15%) ~ Rock Slide / Rock Tomb / Substitute (15%) ~ Sandstorm / Curse / Substitute (15%)

Well, Sab, I have a thought. That Onix is very large, and you are very small. And its substitute appears to be mostly made of dirt. Here's what I'd like you to do: Find the largest bit of the substitute, and Dig into it. Your foe should do one of two things: destroy its own substitute to get at you, or do nothing in concern and confusion. If Boom attacks her own substitute, Chill while the sub exists. When it's gone (if it's gone) jump out of the remains and Bite her (bite her again if there's time). If she doesn't attack her sub, Dig it up from the inside, and do the same jump-out-and-Bite upon its destruction. (And since the sub was created from the cathedral, it counts for the destroy-everything bit, right?) Oh, one last conditional: if you can't dig into the sub, just Bite the thing until it collapses.

Round two

Sabriel cringes as Boom lets out a loud roar, and watches in dismay as the Onix swings her massive tail at the statues looming overhead. A mighty crash echoes throughout the church as the statues crumble under the heavy blow, and their shattered forms tumble downwards. Sabriel yelps and tries to scramble out of the way of the falling debris, but her cries are abruptly cut off as she is buried beneath the jagged shards of the ruined statues. Boom peers down at the mound of stone limbs with a broad grin on her face, and watches in amusement as Sabriel strains to pull herself out of the ruins. Sabriel gives a pained whimper, then finally manages to tug herself free, limping slightly as she pads forward. She shakes off some excess dust, then warily inspects her opponent's white-eyed creation.

The towering substitute looks down at her blankly, and while its body looks hap-hazard and patchy, Sabriel is disappointed to see that it still doesn't leave her with much of an opening. She rushes forward nevertheless, then leaps up on one of its segments and digs her claws in. The smooth surface of its flagstone armour approves irritatingly resistant to her frantically churning paws however, and the Poochyena quickly loses her patience. She gives a low growl of frustration, then sinks her over-sized fangs into the faux Onix, tearing at it viciously. The substitute squirms madly in her grip, and its patchy form begins to fall apart under Sabriel’s jaws. The strands of dark energy hiss as they drip onto the sub, and the network of silvery energy holding the thing together slowly begins to corrode. When Sabriel relinquishes her hold, Boom’s creation is left badly warped and cracked all over, and it teeters alarmingly before finally collapsing in a pile of rubble.

Boom gives an irritated grunt as she surveys her ruined creation, then glares down at the tiny Poochyena below her. Sabriel’s newfound determination falters a little as she sees the rock serpent raise that mammoth tail of hers again, then bring it down with another tremendous roar. Sabriel’s eyes dart around frantically as the ground beneath her begins to rumble, and the cracked flagstone begins to split further, revealing the packed soil underneath. A tower of flooring and earth surges upwards, surrounding her on all sides, then collapses inward, trapping her in a prison of dirt and rubble. Sabriel's cries are cut off as she is buried once again, and it takes her even longer to worm her way out of this mess. She gives a low whine of pain as she crawls out from under the wreckage, and her limp is noticeably more pronounced now, making her movement somewhat sluggish. Sabriel glowers as she hears Boom's rumbling laugh, and despite her discomfort, she manages to find the strength to force herself to move. Boom's laughter is cut short as her tiny foe sinks her dripping fangs into her crystal armour, ripping and tearing with all she's got. Though her fangs don't come anywhere near close to making a dent in Boom's hide, the corrosive dark energy burns painfully into Boom's craggy skin, and the Onix has to suppress a furious growl of pain.

Boom gives a low growl as she twists away from the snarling Poochyena, flicking the tip of her tail at Sabriel's nose as she goes. Sabriel snorts and paws at her muzzle, then slowly retreats as she watches the Onix winding away. Boom grunts and surveys the ruins around her, then glances down at the exposed earth beneath the tiles. Hopefully that should provide her with what she needs. She swipes at the dirt with her tail, sending up shrouds of earth, then summons up an ill wind to help it fill the air. Sabriel sneezes when the sand gets up her nose, then blinks rapidly as the storm begins to build momentum. Soon enough, the church is filled with a raging flurry of sand, and while Boom appears to bask in the new conditions, Sabriel is struggling to see.

Sabriel whines as the particles of dirt bite at her skin, leaving her fur feeling uncomfortably gritty. The world is suddenly a haze of yellows and browns, and she’s left squinting desperately through the storm, hoping that the grit doesn’t get in her eyes. The towering form of Boom is suddenly blurry and indistinct through her narrowed vision, and Sabriel can feel her frustration beginning to mount. She bares her fangs and growls, taking a few uncertain steps forward as dark energy begins to drip from her jaws again. She gives a sharp bark, then pounces forward, leaping nimbly over the mounds of rubble and scattered stone, then jumps towards the shimmering shape of...

Sabriel gives a startled yelp as she collides face-first into a splintered pew, and her jaws snap shut as she falls clumsily onto the floor. She blinks rapidly, wondering how on earth she managed to miss such a huge target. She gives an angry bark and scrambles to upright herself again, trying valiantly to pretend that she totally meant to do that. Boom however, doesn't appear fooled, and she gives a low, rumbling chuckle.

Battle notes

- Sabriel's first bite was a critical hit that destroyed the sub, but her third bite missed.
- Sabriel used up extra energy to free herself from under the rock tomb.
- Interesting tactic with the substitute there. I think it would have been too sturdy for Sabriel to dig into while it was on full health though, but she would have been able to get into it when it was weakened a bit.

Sab, you missed? How could you miss, she was two feet in front of you! Well, good job with the crit, at least; made that a bit less energy-intensive.

I really don't like that your foe is still faster than you, but we can make it word: for the first two actions, if you've been hit, give her some Payback. If you're not hit and she's not underground, go for an Ice Fang and a Crunch. If you're not hit and she is underground, Howl some more. Last action, see if you can break the windows and let in a Sunny Day (and let out some of that awful sandy wind); if you don't think that's possible, Howl it up.

Payback/Ice Fang/Howl~Payback/Crunch/Howl~Sunny Day/Howl

Hmmm. Payback actually works whether the opponent uses a damaging attack or not, but since ole_schooler specifies that Sabriel should howl if she isn't taking damage, we're gonna go ahead and taunt. That should... pretty much clear us for the entire round, I think, so long as the taunt lasts. You should be able to curse and still outspeed the yena, so do that. Then Skull Bash her.

Round three

As Sabriel struggles to see through the blinding sandstorm, she jumps in alarm as Boom suddenly gives a deep rumbling laugh. She squints through the haze of sand at the shimmering shape of the Onix before her, and perks her ears up as she hears Boom calling out something through the storm. What a pathetic mutt - can’t even hit a giant that’s idling away right in front of her. She can’t believe she’s wasting her time with this joke of an opponent. Sabriel’s jaws drops as Boom continues her vindictive tirade of insults, and the Poochyena can feel red hot rage bubbling up within her. Finally, she can take no more, and she erupts into a frenzy of wild barking as she charges recklessly through the debris before her, heedless of the sand stinging her skin.

Boom’s mocking voice trails off as she sees the tiny little shape speeding towards her, and she warily coils her body up, narrowing her eyes at her approaching foe. Sabriel gives a loud, furious snarl, and an icy mist begins to emanate from her jaws. Boom gives a grinding hiss of pain as Sabriel springs forward and sinks her fangs into the Onix’s rocky hide, and the freezing vapour from her jaws gradually travels up the length of her opponent’s crystallized segments. Boom snaps her jagged maw at the tenacious mutt, then flicks her tail rapidly to loosen her grip. Sabriel gives an irritated grunt, then staggers back, still snapping her cold-coated fangs.

Boom gives a low, pained growl as she inspects the thin coating of ice on her hide. The cold bites painfully at her craggy skin, but luckily enough, it appears to be melting fast, aided along by the sting of the sandstorm. Boom grunts, then slowly begins to twist her huge body away from her seething foe, and coils herself up comfortably as she prepares to initiate the dark rites needed for her next command. Gradually, Boom’s armour begins to thicken as the otherworldly forces do their work, and she gives a pleased grunt as she sees the results of her even bulkier form.

As Boom looks up again, she immediately tenses up as she spies the enraged Poochyena come speeding through the flurry of sand again, her huge fangs bared. Corrosive dark energy drips from her slavering jaws, and she wastes no time in sinking her teeth into Boom’s hide again. This time, Boom’s grunt of pain is much less pronounced, as her extra layer of hide proves much tougher for Sabriel to get a grip on. She gives a muffled snarl of frustration as she tears at Boom with all she’s got, but in the end, she is forced to retreat.

As soon as Sabriel backs off, Boom gives a threatening growl and lowers her crested head. Time for some revenge. She coils up her serpentine body like a spring, gradually building up pressure, then abruptly thunders forward with a deafening roar. Even in her enraged state, Sabriel can't help letting out a horrified yelp as the tremendous rock snake comes barreling towards her, and she gives a breathless woof as Boom connects with tremendous force. Sabriel is knocked clean off her feet, and she goes tumbling backwards to land in the splintered row of pews with a harsh thump. Boom's jagged mouth splits into a wide grin as she sees her foe lying listlessly in the wreckage, and she casually stretches out her body again as she watches the shell-shocked Sabriel get to her feet with agonizing slowness.

The Poochyena's anger is what's mainly keeping her going at the minute, and although the red haze enveloping her mind is gradually fading, she's determined to get one last shot in at the foul-mouthed Onix. She gives a wavering growl, then staggers forward on legs that feel like jelly. She glares through the clouds of sand, then charges forward, letting loose a few loud barks for a good measure. Boom gives a grunt of annoyance as Sabriel bites and snaps at her tail, clawing at her relentlessly, heedless of her own safety. It doesn't take much effort for Boom to push her tiny foe away however, and Sabriel is left looking much worse off than the towering Onix.

Hrp. Technically we can ko this round, since we've passed cap range, so. Let's try that.

Earthquake the first two actions. If she's protecting, Curse instead. On the last action, if she didn't protect, Rock Smash; if she did protect, Earthquake again. Obviously if she's protecting on the third action, Curse then. Also, if she sets up a sub for 10% of her hp, Rock Smash to get rid of that.

Round four

Boom gives an eager growl as she winds forward, ready to finish her tiny foe off. Sabriel winces and cowers down as she sees the mammoth shadow of Boom’s tail raise up, then struggles to brace herself as the Onix brings it crashing down. The ruined floor begins to rattle and shake again, flinging the hapless Poochyena across the shards of wreckage. Sabriel's breath is completely knocked out of her as she is whacked repeatedly against the tiles, and her small form is flung high into the air. The shattered forms of broken beams fall from the ceiling, landing with a deafening crash and sending splinters everywhere. Boom surveys the destruction gleefully, and when the rumbling finally stops, she's pleased to see the new hap-hazard piles of rubble littering the ruined floor.

Her opponent isn't in much better condition than the church itself. Sabriel tries her best to stand on her quivering legs, and squints through the sandy haze at the towering form in front of her. She's sore and badly bruised, but if she can just get that horrible giant to go to sleep, it would solve a lot of problems. She raises her head and reluctantly opens her jaws to give a loud yawn, but the wave of grit stings her lips, leaving an unpleasant taste in her mouth. Sabriel snaps her jaws shut and lets out a low whine of annoyance, before delving into a brief coughing fit. Urgh, this endless sand is infuriating! She grits her teeth and gives it another go, but the roaring sandstorm seems to tear the yawn away from her, leaving it lost in the ill wind.

As Sabriel is left looking dismayed, Boom gleefully raises her tail again, ready to cause more destruction to the unfortunate building. She slams it down enthusiastically, shattering the weakened flooring and setting off another wave of tremors. Sabriel gives a howl as she is flung forward once again, landing headfirst against the shattered flagstone with a painful crack. The growing pile of rubble is jostled around wildly, sending heavy stone flying everywhere. When the next quake subsides, Sabriel is left lying listlessly in a pile of shattered stone and wood, her whole body covered in bruises and nasty looking gashes.

Sabriel gives a small groan, then makes an attempt to stand, but she collapses on the floor almost at once, her ears flattened against her head and her ragged tail drooping. She’s aching all over from being tossed about so much, and she barely has the strength to move, so her next command is more than welcome. She closes her eyes as she initiates the healing trance, and a soft blue light begins to shine through the blinding sandstorm. It washes over her matted coat, cleansing her wounds and healing her battered limbs.

Boom’s good mood quickly vanishes as she peers over at her opponent, and she gives a deafening roar of frustration as she sees her hard work go to waste. Sabriel shudders and whimpers in her sleep as Boom voices her rage, but doesn’t awaken from the trance. Boom snaps her jaws and lowers her head, then makes her way towards the insolent Poochyena, her heavy tail lashing in agitation. She sends assorted debris scattering in her wake, but the Onix takes pleasure in the added wreckage she's causing, and it helps to vent her growing frustration. She jabs her tail at her opponent's sleeping form, slamming her in the gut and tossing her backwards. Sabriel gives a grunt as she lands in the splintered remains of the pews, but doesn't stir.

Haha, genius! And by genius, I mean man, bit of a jerk move we just did, Sab. This is why people keep banning healing moves. Well, we'll just expect a turnabout later, I guess.

Anyway, Chill for that round you're asleep in. When you wake, try breaking some windows to let in a Sunny Day, because that sandstorm is really annoying. Finish off by Yawning at the big snake again. If you are taunted, go ahead and Ice Fang for the second and third actions (I don't think you can be taunted out of chilling while you're asleep). If Boom has a sub up or is Protecting or has dug underground for the third action, Howl, unless you're taunted, in which case Chill again. (Unless Taunt prevents chill when you're awake, so you'd go with Ice Fang, because it's your only damaging command, right? Man, conditionals are silly.)

Alright. We're gonna have to keep your rage in check for now; for the moment, just catch Sabriel in a Sand Tomb. It shouldn't be too hard, even with the poor accuracy, since she's just laying there and you've got sand literally flying all over the place. When she wakes up, Taunt her, whether the sand tomb worked or not. On the final action, kick up another Sandstorm.

Round five

Grumbling darkly to herself, Boom tries to keep her temper in check as she prepares to whittle the annoying mutt down again. She gives a guttural growl as she looks down at her sleeping foe, then begins to twist her body around rapidly as she manipulates the waves of sand rolling throughout the building. The direction of the sand suddenly begins to shift, moving erratically at first, before it moves with clear purpose towards the motionless Sabriel. It twists and winds towards her, then surrounds her in a concentrated flurry of biting grit.

Sabiel whimpers in her sleep as the sand stings her skin worse than ever and leaves her coat matted with dirt. She rolls around restlessly for a few moments as Boom watches on, before finally springing to her feet with a loud yelp. She glances around sleepily; blinking her eyes rapidly, and is unpleasantly surprised to see herself completely barricaded in by a roiling twister of sand. Sabriel grits her teeth and tries to keep calm, but the sand relentlessly stings her as it completely blocks her field of vision, leaving her feeling horribly trapped. She looks around helplessly as she struggles to blink away the sand from her eyes, then gives a startled whoof of surprise as she hears Boom’s bellow of laughter echo throughout the church. Still blinking rapidly, Sabriel desperately turns towards the general direction that she thinks the laughter is coming from, but she can barely see more than a vague, towering shape through the haze of sand. Her frustration rapidly begins to mount as Boom launches into her familiar tirade of taunts; “Did you really think you could just fall asleep and make everything better? Of course you’d take the most cowardly route possible, I never expected anything more from a filthy mutt like you…”

Sabriel growls as Boom lets loose another peal of her harsh laughter again, setting the Poochyena’s frayed nerves even more on edge and re-igniting her anger. Sabriel barks furiously at the mocking Onix, wishing she was loud enough to drown out her maddening taunts. As it is, Sabriel ends up accomplishing nothing more than filling her mouth with nasty grit, causing her to double over in a coughing fit. When she recovers, she bares her fangs in a snarling grimace, and icy clouds of vapour begin to puff around her mouth. She charges forward recklessly, struggling to make her way through her swirling prison of sand. She squints through the earthy haze, then leaps at a vague shape she spots. Unfortunately, she falls short of her mark, and sinks her icy jaws into nothing more than a heap of debris. She gives a snarl of frustration as she spits out dirt, and staggers backwards as the raging sand trap doggedly follows her movements.

Boom smirks as she spots the enraged Sabriel floundering helplessly in her sandy prison. That'll teach her. The Onix then begins to twist and turn her huge rocky form as she inspects the swirling storm of sand around her. It's noticeably beginning to weaken, but it's a problem easily fixed. Boom rakes her craggy tail across the exposed earth under the shattered flagstone, channeling an ill wind to bring the sandstorm back to life again. The sand rages throughout the church with renewed fury, forcing Sabriel to crouch low against the ground as she struggles to keep the grit out of her eyes. The red haze of anger is still clouding her vision, and her mind is roaring with all sorts of violent things she'd like to do to that horrible Onix. Unfortunately, the commands she's been issued with aren't helping to clear her head any, and they're leaving her feeling more muddled than ever.

Sabriel's eyes dart around the ruins of the sand filled church, her mind reeling and her whole form aching from the relentless sting of the sand around her. Finally, she completely looses her patience and recklessly hurls herself in what she thinks is her foe's general direction, her barks echoing hollowly. Boom gives a grunt of surprise as she registers a tiny shape barreling into her, biting at her diamond hide and lashing out with clawed paws. The Onix glares down at the disgruntled Sabriel, then flicks her away with her tail. Sabriel begrudgingly retreats, snarling and snapping at the vicious twister of sand around her.

Arena notes

The church is in even more disarray; the floor is badly cracked and completely torn up in some places, while the pews are splintered and broken. Multiple piles of dirt and assorted debris litter the floor. The majority of the overhead statues are wrecked beyond repair, and are now nothing more than a heap of rubble lying on the floor. There is still a row of statues intact however. A sandstorm is raging, to last for nine more actions.

Battle notes

- Sorry for the delay! Wasn't feeling too great this week.
- More than three optional commands confuses a Pokémon, but since Sabriel was taunted, she resorted to struggle.
- I have trapping moves like sand tomb reduce the accuracy of attacks that require physical contact, since it'd probably be hard to move about in that thing.
- Sand tomb is doing a whopping 12 points per action. I didn't actually realize it would mount up to so much even with the stat drops, hence why the description of its effects on Sabriel is a bit weak. I'll probably tweak that later.
- Pathos attacks first.

Wow, didn't expect sand tomb to do that much. Hrm, just chill[/i] on the first action. When the Sand Tomb fades, use it again, and then chill again. If Sabriel protects/detects/is unhittable on the second action, chill then and sand tomb on the third action instead. If you're taunted, sand tomb if you haven't already done so, otherwise Bind.

Chill / Sand Tomb / Bind x3

Alright, this is going to depend heavily on ref interpretation, sorry.

If Dig (down) is considered an attack (aka a Taunted Pokemon can Dig underground):
There seems to be enough open floor space to Dig underground, so get down there and get ready to strike back!...Only not really, since you'll finally stop being Taunted and can then chill for an action without getting hit too much by the flying sand. On the last turn, Dig back up to hit the lummux where it hurts.

If Dig (down) is not considered an attack:
Fire off a Dark Pulse, Taunt the snake for being to cowardly to attack you face-to-face, then Ice Fang when it's bound you up.

Dig(down)/Dark Pulse~Chill/Taunt~Dig(up)/Ice Fang

Round six

As Sabriel glares over at her foe from behind the curtain of sand, Boom slowly begins to slither backwards. She curls herself up tight and sighs, more than willing to take a short break. Let that stupid Poochyena fight it out in the sand for a while. Sabriel snarls, heedless of the flying grit that stings her mouth, then squeezes her eyes shut as she tries to concentrate. A blackened aura begins to shimmer around her small form, and inky tendrils of darkness begin to snake outwards. Sabriel summons up the most evil, nasty thoughts she can muster, which isn’t a difficult feat considering the mood she’s in, then unleashes them in an icy wave of dark energy. Boom’s eyes snap open as she hears the unnatural whispering noise of the approaching blackness, and she gives an angry roar of pain as the dark pulse engulfs her in its freezing grip.

Boom growls, and gives herself a good shake to try and clear her head. Her craggy hide is still tingling unpleasantly, but she’s more than ready to make Sabriel pay for her actions. The Onix opens her jagged maw in another deafening roar, and the sand immediately begins to whirl upwards again to form a stinging twister. Sabriel groans as she sees the sand tomb making its way towards her, but she has no better luck avoiding it. It snatches her up into its gritty prison of sand, and Sabriel gives a chorus of pained yelps as the renewed twister bites at her already tender skin.

Boom gives a satisfied smirk, then slowly moves herself back a bit as she attempts to get comfortable. She’s interrupted however, as she suddenly hears Sabriel’s harsh laughter ringing out from within the whirling twister of sand. Boom’s grin fades a little as she peers over at the blurry shape of her foe, completely perplexed as to why she would be laughing. As she moves closer, she hears Sabriel rattling off a tirade of jabs; “Ha! Should have figured you would repeat the same cowardly tactic! Rock types aren’t known for their originality or intelligence right?” Boom flares up at once, outraged at the tiny mutt’s insolence. How dare she! The Onix rumbles forward, her eyes wild and her heavy tail lashing in agitation. Upon hearing her opponent’s charge, Sabriel quickly shuts up, and crouches down low against the ground, gritting her teeth as she struggles not to loose her nerve.

When she looks up again, she can see the blurry, towering shape of Boom looming over her. Before she can react, Boom lashes out with her tail and wraps it around the startled Poochyena, before quickly squeezing tight. Sabriel gives a startled gasp and paws helplessly against Boom's tough skin, struggling not to fall into blind panic. She takes several hitching breaths, and icy vapour puffs out from her jaws as she tries desperately to retaliate. Boom pays little attention to the danger; she's too focused on squeezing the life out of that mouthy mutt. Sabriel's eyes are wide as she squirms madly in Boom's grip, trying to twist around to get the right angle for her attack. She gives a strangled sounding cry, then chomps down with her ice-coated fangs, sinking her teeth into Boom's diamond hide. Boom's eyes widen, and she gives a bellow of pain as she feels the hated cold, but she stubbornly refuses to relinquish her grip. As the relentless twister and sandstorm rage on, Sabriel sags down lifelessly in Boom's coils, feeling her strength slowly draining away.

Battle notes

- Digging down and attacking would be OK when taunted, but just digging down and hiding wouldn't count as an offensive action, so it wouldn't work.
- ole_schooler attacks first.
