These moves are randomized, right?

Persephone, protect yourself against that double-edge and swagger.
If my logic is horribly wrong and protect blocks against a single attack only though, set up a protect against the swagger. Then set up a light screen. Then thunder at Kyogre. If it's paralyzed, use thunder against Suicune.

Static, use charge. Use thunder on Kyogre on the second action. Use thunder on Kyogre on the third action, but if Kyogre is paralyzed, use it on Suicune.

There was news that a battle at the Dragons’ Den Simulations was about to finish. Even massive legendaries and flying meteors did not deter the citizens of Asber; the crowd in front of the building was as rowdy as ever, trying to push their way into the building to secure the elusive battle slot. In the end, Skylark managed to reach the front desk first. The dragon at the desk nodded, then marched off, beckoning with her tail for Skylark to follow her.

The building was really quite messy at the moment. After Dragons’ Den Simulations was hit by a meteor, it had gone through hasty renovations, and there were still piles of sawdust and construction material lying around on the floor. Dragon and trainer stepped about gingerly, trying to avoid kicking sawdust all over the place. At last they reached a simulation room. This one was larger than most, as it was built to accommodate four battlers instead of two.

The dragon immediately walked over to a little door in the back, and once inside, pressed a few buttons to bring the simulation to life. The arena was already there – thin tiling, a large pond in a corner – and all that was needed were two mythical beasts. Two fuzzy silhouettes appeared: one of a four-legged canine, and another of some flattened dumpling with wings. The staticy images eventually cleared, and there stood the legendary dog of water and the legendary whale of water. In response to Kyogre’s presence, the weather-simulating machines whirred to life, spewing out droplets of water that poured upon the field like rain. Skylark sighed and opened up an umbrella, then sent out his own two battlers, Persephone the Chansey and Static the Mareep. A look of awe crossed their faces as they gazed upon their opponents.

Persephone decided to scout what her opponents were capable of first. While she was thrilled to meet real legendaries (no-one told her they were just images), she knew she had to respect their power. A faint green shield appeared before her.

Meanwhile, completely unaware of the barrier Persephone had just created, Kyogre began to speak in its deep, rumbling voice. There was some sort of raw power to it that seemed to shake the entire room. Puny mortals, Kyogre growled. What you hope to accomplish will never be realized. Are you so arrogant you think you have the power to stand up to the gods? Especially you, Chansey. We’re not playing by the rules you are used to! Your special bulk means nothing! Everyone looked at Kyogre like it’d lost its mind. Special bulk? What was that?

As soon as Kyogre realized that its Swagger was doing nothing, it trailed off, quite embarrassed. Suicune rolled its eyes, then as if to show its teammate how it was done, lunged at Persephone with amazing speed. However, the Protect was still up, much to Suicune’s dismay. The beast of water comically slammed face-first into the shield with a yelp of shock. It was Suicune’s turn to be embarrassed; as it stepped back, it licked its chest fur in seeming nonchalance in an attempt to save some face.

As the legendaries recklessly threw themselves at Persephone, the Chansey’s teammate stood back, gathering power. Threads of electricity danced across Static’s fur as he prepared for some explosive electric attack in the near future.

Static was just finished Charging when a gigantic shape slammed into her. Caught unawares, the Mareep was easily bowelled over and crushed beneath the immense weight of his mighty whale-like opponent. Static coughed as he struggled to free himself, his ribs creaking under Kyogre’s weight. Just a few minutes into the battle, and he already felt like a gigantic bruise… At last the Mareep managed to poke his head and forelegs out. As soon as the head appeared, Suicune let fly with an orb of brilliant light that it had been charging. The Natural Gift veered around Kyogre’s bulk and smashed straight into Static, causing him to shriek in pain.

Persephone, seeing her teammate in danger, hastily constructed protective bubbles around the two of them. A thin pink film enveloped Skylark’s Pokemon. However, it seemed that it offered no defence against Kyogre’s sheer weight; the legendary did not budge at all as the Light Screen was created, as if it wasn’t even there.

By now Static was gasping for air. If he could not drag himself out, then he would just have to make Kyogre move. Calling upon the vast reserves of energy he had built up last action, Static sent a pulse of ions towards the ceiling, hoping that the weather generators created lightning as well. And indeed they did: a terrific pillar of lightning, guided by the falling raindrops, struck Kyogre square in the back. There was a mighty crack; the sizzling of Kyogre’s flesh was barely audible below that. The ocean god’s deep, pained roar shook the building. It could not stand the pain of the hated electricity coursing through its body. Overcome by agony, Kyogre spasmed wildly, rolling to one side to allow Static to escape. Even when the Thunder had run its course, Kyogre continued to twitch; the legendary Pokemon was paralyzed.

Completely unconcerned with its teammate, Suicune appeared to be in a deep trance. Its eyes were closed and it was muttering under its breath. Persephone felt an odd tingling in her little noggin, but she waved it off. In reality Suicune had entered Persephone’s mind and was rummaging about for juicy things to copy, but much to the legendary’s dismay, Persephone’s mental and physical state were just about the same as its own.

Meanwhile, Persephone was cooking up a Thunder of her own. Though it would not be nearly as impressive as Static’s, it was bound to deal a good amount of damage to any water-type. Another bolt of lightning lanced down from the high ceiling, this time slamming down on Suicune. It let out a pained howl as it struggled to stay on its feet. Fortunately, it managed to escape the same fate as its partner. That wasn’t to say the Thunder was ineffective, though – Suicune’s luxurious purple seemed a touch darker than it was moments ago, as if it was slightly burnt.

Determined to keep the electric onslaught going, Static manipulated the weather generators yet again, coaxing another fork of lightning to come crashing down on his opponents. Suicune was the target once again. This one seemed stronger, though; the beast of water seemed to glow with the sheer power, and it was in too much agony to let out anything but a muted whimper. While Suicune still remained in control of its muscles, it opted to collapse on its side for a moment of recuperation after the last of the charge had left its body.

Paralyzed Kyogre was the last to act. Struggling against twitching muscles, the great whale propped itself up with its flippers. Snout aimed skyward, it spat out a great stream of water that grazed the ceiling before falling back down again, merging with raindrops to create huge globes of water that exploded on impact with the ground or with an opponent. Half the water slid off the pink bubbles surrounding Persephone and Static, but the two were still doused with uncomfortable cold water.

Blazhy, may I know how you calculate for damage and energy? *totally doesn't have a secret plan for this*

Keep it up guys!
Static, your default commands are charge, then thunder, then charge. If you've got a giga impact, double-edge, earthquake, waterfall, aqua tail, dive, iron tail or dig heading your way, before a reflect is up, protect. However, don't protect twice in a row. If a mirror coat is going to be used after your thunder, wild charge instead. If Chansey protects on the first or third action, use Discharge.

Charge/Protect/Discharge~Thunder/Protect/Wild Charge~Charge/Protect/Discharge

Persephone, your default commands are reflect, then safeguard, then thunder. If a strong physical attack is headed your way (think earthquake, double-edge, aqua tail; Don't forget to consider weather boosts and STAB) use counter instead. Protect if a status move is coming towards you before you are able to set up safeguard. If all else fails, thunder. By "status move" I mean move solely for inducing statuses.

Reflect/Counter/Protect~Safeguard/Counter/Thunder~Thunder/Counter/Protect

I use Negrek's updated damage and energy scale. Additionally, if a move targets two or more Pokemon, then I multiply the BP by 0.75

Quite keen to avoid further electrical fryings, Suicune decided to construct a decoy to take hits for it. Suicune spat out a stream of odd-looking gel, which heaped up on itself to form a rough quadruped shape. The slab of gel on the forehead was reminiscent of Suicune’s own crystal, and a quivering mass trailed along the Substitute’s back like the purple fur along the original’s back. While the structure was completely devoid of Suicune’s grace, it was sturdy enough to take a hit.

It seemed that Static did not want to test the Substitute’s durability just yet. Instead, she manipulated the electrons around her to create a large magnetic imbalance in her wool. Meanwhile, Persephone did what she did best: provide support. Another bubble of energy was formed around Skylark’s Pokemon, this one golden, blending with the previous Light Screen to create a weird orangish veil. The Chansey stuck her stubby arm through the bubble, which was apparently semi-solid: it took a fair amount of effort for Persephone to force her arm through.

Struggling against its paralysis, Kyogre managed to lift its massive head and fire several pulses of water at Static while making a sort of high-pitched garble. Half the water splashed off the Mareep’s protective energy shield, and the effects of the attack were further diminished by the lingering static that repelled some of the liquid. The remnants of the Water Pulse were but a mere annoyance that Static shook from his wool.

Clearly unaware that special moves would not trouble its opponents much at all, Suicune rapidly slowed its metabolism until the temperature in its mouth dropped to sub-zero levels, then exhaled. Droplets of moisture in the beast’s breath froze to become tiny ice crystals. The Icy Wind was even more pitiful than Kyogre’s attempt at an attack, though frost clung to Persephone’s and Static’s joints, slowing them down.

Static shivered slightly as he recalled his commands. His trainer never specified who he should target… Well, no matter, both were equally troubled by electricity. Calling upon his electrical reserves, Static directed a pillar of lightning at Kyogre’s head. The attack connected; Kyogre’s roar of pain was barely audible beneath the mighty boom of the Thunder. The leviathan was now looking rather scorched and absolutely furious.

As Kyogre grumbled threateningly at Static, Persephone raised yet another barrier. This one would keep maladies, burns, and unnatural slumbers at bay. The forms of Skylark’s Pokemon were barely visible beneath the shimmering shields.

Kyogre had had enough of electricity. No longer would those puny Pokemon use its own weather against it. Kyogre tilted its head back and fired an icy blue orb at the weather generators. The liquid in the generators instantly froze and clumped together, and hailstones rained upon the arena instead.

Seemingly unperturbed by the hailstones, Suicune trotted up to Persephone, one curled paw raised. The Chansey braced herself in case a shattering blow came her way. She was almost disappointed when all she got was a quick jab. It smarted slightly, and there was a small bruise left behind, but it was nowhere near what she was expecting.

As Static built up energy reserves in her wool for the third time, Persephone finally decided to go on the offensive. She lacked the deep understanding of electricity that her partner possessed, but her own Thunder still packed a punch. Persephone picked Suicune as her target, but the gel-like Substitute pushed its creator out of the way. Persephone had to be content with pulverizing the sentient structure instead. Its energy spent, the structure became but a puddle of liquid again.

Kyogre boiled some water in its mouth, then spat it at Static, hoping the steaming liquid would leave a nasty welt. Unfortunately for Kyogre, the Safeguard lowered the temperature of the water to ensure Static was not burned. Sadly for Static, the liquid was still quite hot, and most of it splashed over his face, scalding eyes and nostrils. The Mareep gave a squeal of agony and frantically shook his head, blinking water out of his eyes.

As the round drew to a close, one of the shields around Skylark’s Pokemon faded, leaving only the golden Reflect and whitish Safeguard.

Suicune breathed deeply and gave a series of quick, short bellows, water gushing from its jaws with each roar. The water slapped at Persephone’s rubbery skin. Though it didn’t hurt all that much, the rhythmic pulses and garbled sound carried in the liquid was disorientating. Persephone found the world swimming, but only for a moment as the strange energy of the Safeguard purged the Chansey’s brain of distracting visions and noises.

Static, meanwhile, was searching for material to construct a Substitute. Finding little, he instead ripped a bit of his own wool out, then held his glowing tail next to the downy ball. Lightning passed between Static’s tail and the wool with a sharp [/i]zap[/i], and suddenly the wool was growing, sprouting rough, fluffy equivalents of a head, tail, and legs. Soon, a wool-Mareep, complete with its own Reflect, stood beside the real one.

Though the Light Screen had faded away last round, Persephone had no intention of leaving her side exposed to special attacks. The pink nurse-blob put her stubby arms forward. Rosy sparks flew from her hands as the psychic barrier was renewed.

Kyogre was loathe to mess around with rocks and earth – leave that to its arch-nemesis, Groudon – but it focused on the ground underneath Static anyway, urging it to burst upwards to crush the sheep. Sensing danger, Static’s faithful construct pushed its creator out of the way (how it managed that, when it was just a puff of cotton, was beyond comprehension). Tiles shattered as rock forced itself to the surface, slicing at the Substitute, though it was sturdy enough to keep itself together.

Suicune lowered its head and ran at Static, though like Kyogre it was intercepted by the wooly mimic. The strange pink bubble was difficult to pass through, and by the time Suicune’s head connected with the Substitute, it had lost a fair bit of momentum. Nevertheless, the feather-light Substitute was tossed away. It was beginning to look a bit ragged, but it still had plenty of life force left.

A flicker caught Static’s attention. The pink bubble around him was starting to lose strength, as it was sputtering and wavering. He’d just have to protect himself in a different way, then. Closing his eyes, Static sent a pulse of energy towards the roots of each bit of wool, coaxing it to grow. And grow it did: with a muffled poof the wool suddenly swelled to twice its size, nearly burying the Mareep’s head. Only his snout stuck out. His legs were completely enveloped in wool, and only a third of his tail remained, the shining orb on the end bobbing about. Well. Static baaed in distress, convinced that he looked quite ridiculous.

Persephone stared, speechless, at her partner, then at her trainer. She was supposed to copy that? Wasn’t she fat enough already? With a sigh, the Chansey reluctantly reached into Static’s mind, and found within it a bounty of defensive changes to copy. The naked eye could observe no changes to Persephone’s body, but the Chansey herself felt a bit odd: like she was sparking with residual electricity and surrounded by a thick layer of fluff.

Kyogre breathed in deeply, then broke off with a series of choked gasps as its muscles clenched in rebellion. The great whale twitched violently, then lay still, completely immobilized. It could barely even breathe. Its eyes, stretched wide with horror, displayed panic uncharacteristic for a legendary.

Like Static had predicted, the Reflect finally gave out, dissolving into a wave of golden specks.

A sadistic urge crept into Suicune as it watched its partner flap about pathetically. Hail wasn’t bad enough of weather, oh no. The beast of water faintly recalled that whales get sunburns easily… Sneering, Suicune tilted its head back, an orange orb forming in its mouth. When it was sufficiently large, it floated up to the ceiling, where it blazed brightly and warmly. In response, the weather generators stopped paying out hailstones. Slowly the temperature of the room rose to sweltering levels.

Kyogre’s misery didn’t stop there. As it groaned in discomfort at the miniature sun beating down on its sensitive skin, a bout of crackling was heard and yet more lightning pierced the air. This time, it was not from the ceiling but from Static. Kyogre roared in anger and indignity, furious that it was being bested by a tiny fluffy sheep. Then its roar was cut off by a sudden, violently spasm; the Thunderbolt had renewed electricity’s grip on the whale’s muscles.

With a miniature sun bathing the arena in harsh light and heat, Persephone had no trouble gathering enough energy for a Solarbeam. A magnificent orb of golden power grew between her hands, bright and dangerous and unstable, until she could hold onto it no longer. The resulting beam flew straight towards Kyogre. The immense pain was enough to momentarily jolt the legendary out of its paralysis, and it roared again, the solar energy scorching sensitive skin and warring with its innate water-type. Kyogre felt like it was drying up, like a pathetic Magikarp beached on a hot summer day.

With uncooperative nerves and massively distracting agony, all Kyogre could do was break a few tiles with a smack of a fin, wet the dirt, and throw some of it at Static. Yet again, the Substitute leapt in the way, its own little Light Screen blocking some of the grime and. It shivered as it was plastered with the remaining mud, but still stood valiantly.

As the round drew to a close, the Safeguard surrounding Skylark’s Pokemon disappeared as well, leaving only the pinkish Light Screen as protection against the two legendaries.

Tiring of tormenting its teammate, Suicune went back to business. The legendary beast stretched its mouth open wide to reveal not one, but two orbs, one a brilliant red and the other a deep cerulean. The two beams that were fired immediately curved towards each other, then away, attracting and repelling the other periodically. As expected, Static’s substitute jumped in to protect its creator. Half of the dazzling energy splashed uselessly against the structure’s Light Screen; the remaining portions were further divided by the residual charge in its fur, which warded off dangerous elemental power. Suicune wasn’t even sure if the Signal Beam had any sort of impact on the ridiculously fluffy creature.

While his Substitute took the beatings for him, Static decided to curl up for a well-deserved nap. This was no ordinary nap: as soon as his eyes closed, a soft aura enveloped the sheep, concentrating on the wounds and bruises and burns accumulated over the course of the battle. As if by magic, they began to heal, leaving no scars nor damaged wool or skin; it was as if the injuries had disappeared entirely. Such a wondrous recovery had a cost, though, and sheer fatigue was the price. Static began to pant heavily, sweat beading at his brow, as if rolling over would make him keel over with exhaustion.

Worried for her teammate, but with no time left to care for the weary sheep, Persephone turned to the scorched Kyogre, a ball of golden light already forming at her hands. The great whale could only glare balefully at the cheerful Chansey. The dangerous, narrowed eyes soon became wide with distress and pain as searing light assaulted it, sending Kyogre into a world of blind, white-hot agony. Legendary it was, but it did not think it could endure much more.

Worse still, the intense pain caused Kyogre’s muscles to lock up once more, rendering it incapable of even twitching a fin. Without the ability to move its limbs, it could not direct rocks to lift themselves from the ground, much less throw them at enemies.

Now that its partner wasn’t far from fainting, Suicune felt the urge to put up some sort of protection, or Skylark’s Pokemon would fry it, too. The beast’s crystal glowed briefly with psychic energy, then a golden screen enveloped the water-typed legendaries. Suicune fired an experimental squirt of water, then blinked in surprise as it passed through with no trouble. Oops. Wrong screen.

Persephone clapped her hands and giggled at Suicune’s confusion, then took the opportunity to launch another Solarbeam. The nurse was starting to get exhausted, but Kyogre’s screech of pain was well worth the effort. By now, the whale’s skin was flaking and peeling off, unable to stand the repeated scorching. Kyogre was positively roasted, almost too weary to keep up its menacing glare. Despite the murderous eyes trained on her, Persephone clapped again, thrilled that one of her mighty opponents was about to exit the stage.

Oblivious to the action around him, Static slumbered on. He seemed to be relaxing somewhat, focusing on regaining energy rather than stitching up wounds, though he still panted heavily. Much like Static, Kyogre was panting too, but it was due to the sheer effort of moving through pain and paralysis. The legendary finally managed to prop itself up to spray pellets of energy into the air, which flattened and grew points, turning into sharp-edged stars as they flew along. A few bounced off of Persephone and Static’s Substitute’s pinkish barriers, but those that muscled through left a network of shallow cuts in their wake. Persephone sniffed while the sheep-like structure’s wool jiggled a bit.

As if exhausted by the effort to repel the Swift, the Light Screen faded away, leaving Skylark’s Pokemon oddly vulnerable. Persephone, accustomed to the protection of her screens, flinched as she realized there was nothing to guard her now.

Persephone eyed Suicune nervously, knowing that if a special attack came her way, she’d be feeling it at its full power. Oddly, it seemed that the great beast was waiting for her move, as well. Shrugging, the Chansey coaxed another brilliant gold orb into existence. It grew bigger as it greedily sucked in sunlight; when it was a sufficient size, Persephone allowed the unstable energy to shoot forth, straight at the despairing Kyogre. Just in time, Suicune leapt in the way; its form was engulfed by blinding light that ate away at its fur, skin, and flesh. Despite itself, Suicune could not help but roar in pain. When the light cleared, Suicune’s side was scorched, angry red flesh exposed.

While Suicune had succeeded in defending its teammate, there simply wasn’t enough time to reflect the attack. It would be pointless to use Mirror Coat now. The pained beast glared at Kyogre, the pathetic flopping fish it was forced to save. As if to justify Suicune’s spiteful thoughts, Kyogre squeaked and curled up like a potato bug. The action was so childish and unexpected that Suicune could not help but give a bark of derisive laughter.

As if roused by the sound, Static sleepily clambered to his feet. He was feeling much better overall after his brief doze, and so determinedly faced the legendaries, ready to finish them off with a few well-placed bolts of thunder.

Terrain notes
The hail has been replaced by Sunny Day, which will last for 1 more action.

Final notes
Simulator attacks first next round.
Kyogre was paralyzed on the first action.
A Pokemon can’t intercept an attack and respond with Mirror Coat, since it’s negative priority, so Suicune just intercepted the Solarbeam and then did nothing.
