Arena: Capital Wastelands
The battlefield is a simple rectangular arena with a lake surrounding it. However, the field is the site of a nuclear explosion, irradiating the waters and the soil underneath. There is no wildlife within miles of the place due to the heavy amounts of radiation, which has also altered the weather pattern. Therefore any weather moves will damage all Pokemon battling depending on the type of weather (damage will be referee's choice) and the waters have a 50% chance of paralyzing a Pokemon.
Round Two: Begin!
Venom turns away from Ziggio and sets off around the arena at the fastest pace he can manage, going in circles around his opponent and silently thanking Groudon for the lack of things to trip over thanks to his hazy vision. His speed is not especially impressive, but he still runs enough rings around the Zigzagoon to sufficiently puzzle the frightened little thing--Ziggio is now quite convinced that he can see three big, scary Ekans in front of him instead of just one. Predictably, Ziggio is horribly unnerved by this development. He's got to do
something to stop Venom before his advantage becomes too great (or worse)... but the only thing he can really think to do in his petrified state could very easily get messed up by the fact that he can't tell which Venom is the real one. There's nothing else for it--Ziggio simply closes his eyes, hopes for the best and fires off a thin bolt of static electricity that has built up in his body and his fur. Sheer dumb luck allows the thunder wave to strike true, and Venom immediately drops to the floor, hissing and writhing around as he attempts to shake off the incredibly uncomfortable tingly feeling the jolt left behind.
Suddenly Venom and his two doppelgangers are looking much stiffer and clumsier, and Ziggio thinks he might be able to get the jump on his foe this time. It takes a great deal of effort and courage for him to manage it--especially effort, given the fact that his body is not really built for all of these elemental attacks--but Ziggio manages to summon up some water from somewhere deep inside him and spews it out, letting loose with a horrible, frustrated scream at the same time. The high-pitched screeching and the pulse of water manage to strike the real Venom, who continues his pained thrashing; on top of the cramping and stiffness and the dirt still in his eyes (although the water does manage to rinse a little of that away before he shuts them reflexively), the Zigzagoon's screaming has given him an awful, ringing headache. Now he's
definitely having trouble seeing straight.
Thankfully enough, Venom doesn't have to move or see very well to pull off his next attack. He slowly rears up again and stares at Ziggio, not really worried about whether or not the Zigzagoon is staring back this time. With a great deal of mental exertion the snake manages to work his way into his opponent's mind. He pauses for a moment after he does this--what was he supposed to be doing in here again?--but then refocuses as best he can and suppresses Ziggio's memory of all that water-spewing, screaming nonsense. Ziggio squirms and shakes his head, unsure of what had just happened. It feels like he's forgetting something, but he doesn't really know what it is.
Ziggio is still quite frightened of his livid, thrashing, hungry foe, but his nerves are starting to settle a little now. Now that the playing field has been evened out a little, he figures he might be able to get away with another bout of mud-slinging. The ground right in front of him is, luckily, quite damp after his previous... whatever he did last round, and so the soil that he kicks into Venom's eyes this time is wonderfully moist and a little gooey. Venom wails and rubs his tail across his face, and his clones beside him blindly do the same; in a fit of rage the snake spits a flurry of thin, poisonous needles in a random direction, unable to tell and hardly even caring whether or not his aim is anywhere near Ziggio. Several of the needles do manage to hit the Zigzagoon and poke him painfully, but they don't do altogether too much damage. Heartened by this, Ziggio can feel some of his paralyzing fear beginning to dissipate at last. Besides, it's kind of funny to watch Venom and his two clones flail around like that.
After a few minutes, however, the Ekans's twitching and thrashing becomes less sporadic; he and his clones take a moment to really relax, and Venom's muscles slowly stop their spasming as they return to normal.
