Aldgodona, I want you to start things off with a Sing. Sing until the doduo falls asleep, then use Dragon Pulse. If Sing works the first time, use Peck on your third.

Ok dodo, use Supersonic first, then use Tri Attack and then Tri Attack again. If at any point you fall asleep, use Sleep Talk.

Today's battlefield is a large, circular room, with glass panelling in the round, high roof. It just stopped raining about half an hour ago, and a few droplets of water cling to the panels, but nothing that affects the sun from shining into the Gym, and reflecting off the large pool inside. Below is a deep pool that takes up more than two-thirds of the room, with benches along the walls for spectators, and four or five small wooden platforms about two and a half feet across. Today the benches are empty, however, and the only life in the room stands on a bobbing wooden platform to the east side of the room. On the platform stands two girls, one, a red-headed teen, seeming to be older than the other, who is the referee for this match. The redhead mutters something to the referee about the Trainers being late, and the referee shrugs. Not her problem, she was just here for the destruction. Startling the two slightly, a hiss from the wall across from them signals the opening of a previously hidden door, and the Trainers step down onto identical platforms opposite each other. Taking the Gym in quickly, they pull Pokeballs from their belts and throw them to the platforms, not wanting to be any later than they already are.

Psymon's Pokeball bounces very close to the water, and out of the red light, a two headed, birdlike Pokemon appears, a Doduo. After a moment's hesitation, Empoleon throws his own Pokeball to a platform, also a bird, with cloudlike wings, a Swablu. The two Pokemon taking in their opponents and get into fighting stances, waiting for commands from their Trainers. As soon as they get them, the referee nods, and the Doduo, Dodo, takes off from his platform with a will.

Dodo leaps towards the Swablu, Algodona, and stops a platform away as one head starts to yammer at the other. Why should they go forwards, they aren't attacking yet? The head that isn't talking nods in agreement and squawks at the Swablu, catching her attention. Dodo opens his mouths, and lets loose with a blast of sound waves that knock Algodona off balance and confuse her. Dodo smiles to himself as Algodona winces, an odd ringing in her head.

Algodona wipes her face with a fluffy wing, and ignores the ringing in her head as she starts to hum the beginning of a song. This is pretty easy, she can concentrate on this long enough, she decides, and her humming becomes a dolce song, which causes Dodo's eyes to flutter. One of them had to stay awake.. but something in Algodona's song almost forces both heads' eyes shut, and Dodo curls in on himself, asleep.

With a grin at her handiwork, Algodona shakes her head in an effort to clear the ringing out of it. Doing her best to ignore it once more, she opens her beak and focuses on a blue-purple spark of light that has formed there, which gradually shapes and becomes a pulsating sphere of aura. With a small cry, the sphere races towards Dodo and buries itself in his side, releasing the energy in it. Dodo grumbles in his sleep and turns over, not even bothered by the slightly singed feathers in his deep sleep.

Algodona flinches as Dodo stands up, both heads hung and muttering. The effect is rather unnerving, with the Doduo's eyes closed, and him swaying slightly. Suddenly he takes a step forwards and is still, standing near the edge of the platform. One of his heads twist around and appear to preen, while the other head twitches and lolls around on its thin neck. Both pause, and Dodo takes a step back, collapsing as he falls back asleep.

Algodona narrows her eyes, rather unnerved by Dodo's.. sleep movement. In any case, the ringing in her head seems to be more easy to ignore now, she decides, and tries to clear the rest of it out of her head. Not seeing where she steps, Algodona takes an unconscious step backwards and falls over the side of the platform, into the water. She cries out as she falls back, and gets a few beakfuls of water. Algodona floats coughing, to the surface and drags herself back onto the platform, very unhappy. Now she was soaking wet, missed a chance to attack Dodo, and did she mention wet? In any case, the ringing in her head seemed to have died down. Oh well.

Algodona looks up at Dodo and notes in horror that he has stood up and is muttering again. With a small glare, she wills the platform to tip and send him into the water, and winces as both of his heads snap up. Peeking at him through a single eye, Algodona cheeps as Dodo starts to glow white and leaps into the air, coming crashing down on her. The white energy around Dodo flows partially into her and back into him as he jumps back to his platform and collapses once more into sleep. Algodona tenderly brushes over a bruise with a wing, wincing as water from her puffy wings leaks into her wound. This battle was getting very painful, very fast.



Referee Notes
-Dodo's first Sleep Talk became Acupressure.
-Algodona was confused on the last action and hurt herself.
-Dodo's second Sleep Talk became Double-Edge. Ouch.
-Empoleon attacks first next round.

Silence fills the room as a Starmie pops out of the water and floats over to Misty, who mutters something to it, and shoos it back into the water. With an apologetic look at the referee, she nods, and grins as the battle continues. With a wave of her hand, the referee allows the Trainers to command their Pokemon, and keeping their commands in mind, nods to the Pokemon.

Rather ironically, it's the sleeping Dodo who makes the first move. He stands up again, muttering incomprehensible words under his breath and swaying back and forth gently. Algodona shivers, the cold water was getting to her, and watching Dodo was pretty creepy in itself.. Dodo's heads snap up, eyes still closed. They open their beaks and two pinpricks of white light form, growing larger and larger until they no longer fit in Dodos' mouths. The white energy shoots forwards as a beam, blue energy from the water everywhere being sucked into the beam, causing it to become blue as the water. The beam slams into Algodona's side, releasing its stored up energy and knocking her almost into the water. She warbles abuse at her opponent, who is curled into a ball once more, sleeping.

Well, this wouldn't do, Algodona thinks, glaring at the sleeping Dodo. If he was still sleeping, there were ways to bother him.. With a malicious grin, Algodona's eyes flash pink, and she dives into Dodo's mind. Dodo seems to be having a pleasant dream about walking with his Trainer in some park, and overhead, Algodona's eyes flash once more. Dodo cries out as everything around him starts to fade, and his Trainer disappears. Her work done, the Swablu blinks as she returns to the waking world and notes a few of her scratches have healed.

Dodo groans as his dream completely disappears and he falls more deeply asleep, before standing up again and muttering under his breath. Algodona cheeps in surprise, thinking he had woken up for a second. Dodo's muttering becomes louder for a second, and his heads snap up again. With an odd warbling cry, Dodo appears to be coated in dark flames for a second before disappearing from sight. Algodona looks around in shock, feeling the platform tilt to a side as an invisible Doduo jumps and lands on it. A blow to the back of her head causes her to cry out, and the platform tilts again as Dodo, now visible, jumps over to his own platform.

Algodona glares at the sleeping Dodo again, rubbing her head with a drying, but soggy wing. Why did Dodo get to do all the painful attacks? Or was it because he was asleep that he didn't feel the pain as much? Hoping that this would get him, Algodona opens her beak and calls up a spark of energy from inside her, forming an icy blue point of light to form in her beak. As it grew, Algodona lets it creep towards Dodo, out of her beak, and holds it steady for a second.. a bit to the left.. and there. The sphere of cold energy in front of Algodona shoots towards Dodo as a thin but powerful beam, and he cries out in his sleep. Algodona laughs at her opponent and looks closely at his side, noting a layer of ice a few millimetres thick clinging to his side.

She yelps as Dodo stands up suddenly, catching her by surprise again. And to nobody's surprise, he is muttering again, words that no one can hear or understand. Both of his heads snap up, and seem to be waiting for something. Algodona lets out a relieved breath, thankful that he didn't slam her into the ceiling or something, and one of his heads turn to look at the icy patch on his side, eyes still closed. With a single clicking sound, Dodo turns to face Algodona and opens both his beaks, a retching sound in his throat. Algodona narrows her eyes, what does Dodo think he's doing? Both heads draw back and spit something towards Algodona, that splatters across her head and wings. She shrieks as the poisonous stuff dissolves into her, and leaks into her bloodstream. It also looked disgusting, she notes, more importantly.

Algodona's had enough of the stupid Doduo, and wants to rip one of his heads off and stuff it down the other's throat. But her Trainer commanded her otherwise.. Reluctantly, she raises her wet wings and twirls in circles and loops, sending downy feathers towards Dodo. He mumbles in his sleep, rather pleased by whatever was warming him up, and turns over. Algodona looks at the mass of white and brown feathers with contempt in her eyes, and lands, wishing he would drown or something so the battle would finish.

With a yell, Dodo sits upright, blowing some feathers away and wincing as his ice-layered side is stretched. Wait, what? Why are there feathers everywhere, why is his side frozen, and why does he feel so tired? Rather confused now, Dodo stands up and turns towards Algodona, trying to look confident. It's not working.

Use Attract, then Drill peck, and Finish off with Double Team for 4 Clones.

Okay, Algodona. Start off with a Refresh to clear the poisoning. For your second move, I want you to fly up and avoid the attack and then use Ice Beam. Finally, just chill and we'll see what happens next and act on that. If for some reason Refresh failed the first time, go for it again.

The Trainers issue commands at the wave of the referee, and the battle continues with no further hesitation!

Before the confused Dodo can bat an eye, Algodona has flicked something in her mind, and is now glowing an odd pale blue. Dodo stands up and looks at her questioningly, and the refreshed Algodona looks back with a grin as the glow fades. All traces of the nasty purple stuff is gone, to her relief, and she looks towards her hated opponent with a malicious sneer.

Dodo stares Algodona down, with both heads, then turns, and starts to preen. One head tells her how beautiful she is, and how fluffy and soft her wings must be, going on and on about how graceful and pretty the Swablu is. Algodona giggles and returns his compliments, not understanding that all his words are lies, everything is a mind game.

One of Dodo's heads turns to smirk at himself, and suddenly, he takes off towards the platform Algodona is on and jabs his beaks into her, or where she was a second ago. What? The Doduo looks up and sees Algodona in the air, still keeping her Trainer's commands in mind. No matter how flattering and wonderful Dodo is, he's still an opponent.. but she doesn't have to attack in full.

A pale blue spark forms in her beak, which floats out and begins to gain size. Dodo makes his way dejectedly back to his platform, and is surprised as an ice cold shot of something releases energy into his back mid-leap, causing him to stumble and fall in the water. The water is cold! Dodo yelps and fights to stay above water as he scrambles onto his platform, shivering. Algodona laughs, a low tweeting; Dodo is funny! That couldn't have been intentional, she decides, and lands back on the platform.

Dodo growls quietly and shake the water from himself. That Swablu.. laughing at him? After he tried to be nice? He would rip her apart!

All in time, he decides reluctantly, and goes through his orders, again. A few targets to shoot at might be a good idea.. So that could work. With a squawk to get Algodona's attention, Dodo starts to leap from platform to platform, slowly at first, and beginning to gain speed. Algodona watches mesmerized as Dodo becomes a brown blur and skids to a stop, four more Dodos on platforms near him. She laughs again, and shakes her wings out. They're still a bit wet, which has weighed her flight down a bit.

Well, this was interesting and all, though Algodona is getting the faintest bit tired. This wouldn't do! Making herself a little spot with her wings, Algodona curls herself into a small ball and sighs happily, as she falls into a kind of half sleep. Dodo looks on from his platform, disappointed that she didn't try anything, or stupidly giggle or something. Well, that was fine. Algodona sits up suddenly, and looks around at her four opponents. This was fun, she got to take a little nap in the middle of battle without being attacked! She loved Dodo.

One break and misunderstanding later, and the battle is back underway! The referee snaps back to attention as the challengers reappear from wherever they were, and she jumps up to pay some damn attention. With a wave of one of the flags she has obtained over the break, the referee grins and asks the Trainers to command their Pokemon. They oblige, and she waves the other flag for the Pokemon to begin..

And begin they do, though not with any puff of smoke, or flash of light. Algodona giggles at the Dodo she is looking at, and the real one commands its clones to smile back to continue the illusion. The Swablu giggles louder, and decides to show Dodo some of the things she can do.. Raising her wings to the sky, Algodona starts to sing an ancient song used to call or change the weather... and is unrewarded. Outside, clouds gather quickly and begin to pour solid chunks of rock on the glass panels in the ceiling, though the sturdy glass does nothing but cause them to bounce off. Put off, Algodona can see that there is no way for the hail to get inside and cuts off the song, a bit disappointed.

Dodo, meanwhile, watches the sky in slight awe as the Hail comes and goes, wondering.. if that was Algodona? Did she do that? Shaking one of his heads, he decides it doesn't matter and goes through the list of pressure points her was. There's one on each side, and a good large one at the base of each neck.. Gearing up for the short pain he knows will come in a moment, Dodo bends one of his heads, the clones following, and jabs himself with his beak at the base of his neck. The other head squawks and bobs around madly, and causes laughter from Algodona.

Algodona looks back at her Trainer with a frown. She.. didn't she already try to use Hail, and it failed? There was no way to make it move inside the building.. Though she was commanded to use Hail until it stuck. Well, at least she didn't have to attack Dodo. With that thought burning in her mind, Algodona spreads her wings and hums a note, before breaking into song and calling the clouds back towards the Gym. Dodo stares in awe again as the hail starts to fall, and he realizes it must be Algodona who's doing it! Dejected, the Swablu smiles uneasily at one of the Dodos and stops singing, letting the clouds disperse.

Tilting a head, Dodo smiles behind his back and takes account of his bruises, and nods to the other head. They seemed to be at half health or so, and rather roughed up.. Couching down, Dodo and clones leap towards Algodona, clearing amazing distance to slam their ice covered sides into the bird. Algodona cries out in surprise, and as she blinks, all the Dodos turn and hop back to their platforms. Wow, she thinks, her Dodo was so strong, being able to jump that far! Still, he had attacked her and.. Algodona finds herself losing a bit of trust in the Doduo, and sighs.

The Swablu brushes some invisible dirt away from her platform, and with another smile at Dodo, plops down to take a little break. She is rather tired.. with that, Algodona falls into a kind of shallow sleep.

Dodo tilts a head, staring at Algodona. Was.. she asleep? Remembering his orders, Dodo realizes he can take a break as well! With a happy squawk, he and his clones drop onto their platforms, and with a last look, take a peek at Algodona. She doesn't seem to be getting up any time soon, he hopes, and falls lightly asleep as well.

About ten minutes of yawning and glaring at the Pokemon later, the referee and Trainers grumble as the Pokemon come out of their supposedly light sleeps, and stretch. Their extended rest earned them a bit more energy it seems, and now both are refreshed and ready to fight, or in Algodona's case, smile like she is intoxicated. Whatever floats your boat.
