Arena: Evolution Stone Cave

Our battle today takes place in the most sparkly, shiny, impossible place ever; the Evolution Stone Cave. The cave is pretty big, with enough space to comfortably fit a Wailord, and with a ring of deep water surrounding the arena. No Wailords are allowed, however. The thing that gets everyone about here though, is the millions and billions of bits of shiny evolution stones embedded in the ground, ceiling and walls. Though these bits are pretty small, if you took a piece out it wouldn't count as an evolution stone so don't try that. Also scattered around the cave are gems, all shining and glittering in some unknown source of light.

The pure power of the evolution stones is pretty concentrated here. Every round, the Pokemon have a 95% chance of changing types; from whatever type they are to either Fire, Water, Electric, Grass, Rock, Dark, Ice, Psychic or Ghost. All abilities of the Pokemon remain the same, ghosts can still phase or turn invisible, Flying types can still fly. All effects dispell after the end of the round.

ffft need to get that sig attribute up

Well, in this case, Phalanx would obviously be the way to go. Dragon, I warned ya! >:D

Well, I'm not used to battling a faster Pokemon, but I need the practice. So... Let's start with a 15% Substitute, because I need to learn to play more defensively when I'm attacking first. Thank God Shinx doesn't know Snatch or Taunt :'D
After that, hmm... Stockpile 10% energy, because I believe we'll need that for later as much as we need those defense boosts. Finally, use Toxic for some delicious status effects. If Haneul is Protecting or has a Substitute or is doing anything that'll make the success of Toxic impossible, use Amnesia; use that if Haneul has clones, as well. If he ever Roars to stop your actions, just shuffle them.

Substitute (15%) ~ Stockpile (10%)/Substitute (15%) ~ Toxic/Amnesia/Stockpile (10%)

I know I've forgotten something I just know it

WHY DOES EVERYONE GO WITH SUBSTITUTE FIRST WHAT THE HELL.

In any case, let'm go with that sub, and go with Iron Tail, after he sets that up. Then you can set up your own 15% sub, and Spark that sub, hopefully away. :F

A trio slowly walked into a large gallery of the cave where two chose to battle and one chose to act as a referee. The lantern held on the latter’s hand illuminated the floor, walls and ceiling, revealing their several colors.

As the three people positioned themselves, water ran through the wide area, describing a circular flow with noise. The mediator of the duel took a second to experiment the echo; then, controlling himself not to start singing one of his favorite band’s songs, he read the match’s specific rules aloud to keep everyone reminded, then gave the match a beginning with the raise of a flag.

Dragon sent out a blue- and black-furred lion cub; blazheirio889, in response, released a sea lily of a species previously extinct, but now usually revived from fossils. Both trainers issued commands, and once they were done, the battle finally began.

Eager to attack but meant to wait, Haneul let out a growl at low volume. Discovering the echo of the rocky walls, she started to enjoy throwing her voice around and noticing how much louder it got, and the sound lasted longer. Phalanx, on the other hand, did not seem to enjoy the scream show, even getting the unpleasant feeling of being under pressure.

The ceiling looked like it was reacting to the Shinx’s cries. Some bits of it lit the hall up even more than the ref’s lantern was doing it, a deep brown glow blinding all witnesses to it. A beam of light of that color shot straight toward the roaring Pokémon’s back, enveloping it with a sheen of the same tone. When everybody opened their eyes again, she no longer had her usual appearance, instead being covered in a craggy articulated armor, from the heels to the head. Holes gave her eyes, nose, mouth, ears, paws and tail freedom, but suppressed her electricity. She had been exposed to a change in type.

With no noise or flashy shows to deal with any longer, the Lileep somehow took a deep breath, then closed his bright yellow eyes. As he channeled his life force to a spot right in front of him, a silhouette identical to his began to form. Increasing efforts gave the shadow solidity. It then began to gain its creator’s traits, gradually becoming more precise until it was an exact copy.

At that point, the young electric-type turned rock-type sprung to action, tensing her tail and summoning steel-type power from her essence. A liquid metal covered the appendage and solidified itself. She leapt and swung her backside… Only to spin around on the air emptily, narrowly missing the target.

Taking a step back warily, she looked frustrated, but relaxed as the iron on her tail began to melt with her body heat and either penetrate the ground or flow toward the river, becoming one with it. Much like her foe had done before, she called upon her life force and focused it at one spot, slowly copying herself.

Meanwhile, the ancient plant sucked air in once more, this time summoning some of his energy, only to store it within its seemingly hollow body. It formed a layer, one that would act as a secondary armor.

No longer of electric type, Haneul had a bit more of difficulty executing the next movement than usual. However, by summoning electric-type power from her essence, she managed to get sparks crackling through her armor. Then, she lunged against the foe’s Substitute, striking it violently as if it was the real deal. It didn’t seem to be really damaged, but a large surge of electricity coursed through it; if it actually were actually Phalanx, he’d certainly have been paralyzed.

The true sea lily forced himself to dull a part of its nerve net – as echinoderms possess no central brain – shutting down him ability to notice some things, which a special attack would require noticed in order to properly inflict pain. However, he also had to affect a bit of another function of his. Namely, his ability to recover from attacks. His bodily defenses were still just fine, however, he lost his natural ability to accelerate their work.

As her foe finished moving, Haneul noticed her body change once more. The rocky outer skin became thinner, then started to crack… And, suddenly, vanished. Her properties as an electric-type were back again.

Iron Tail 'til it sticks, and I suspect that'll break the sub. Uh.. if he Protect/Detects, Howl, and if he uses any Ground moves, Magnet Rise. Replace Iron Tail with Thunderbolt after the first action.

Iron Tail/Howl/Magnet Rise~Thunderbolt/Howl/Magnet Rise~Thunderbolt/Howl/Magnet Rise

You can do this, Haneul~

Mm, alright... That sub needs to go away >.> So, let's see... I was hoping to save it for later, but Spit Up - 20% damage, more than enough. After that, use a Body Slam + Ingrain combo: fling yourself on Haneul (he should be pretty close since he just pulled off an Iron Tail), making sure that you end up squashing him with your root thingies, then quickly use Ingrain to trap him under you.
If you don't think that'll work, use Toxic on the 2nd action, for some piling damage (because I totally plan on stalling Haneul to death) and then Curse.
If your Substitute is gone, you don't think you can pull off the combo, and you've become a Water-type, Mirror Coat.

Spit Up ~ Body Slam + Ingrain/Toxic/Mirror Coat ~ Nothing (if combo was executed)/Curse/Mirror Coat

Spit up is only worth 1.5x the amount stockpiled these days; for this round you can use the old value since that's still what it says in the attack guide, but for future reference and future rounds it's no longer 2x damage.

Oh, well, it doesn't matter all that much; 1.5x the damage is still enough to destroy the Substitute, but thanks for the heads up.

Both sides of the match issued commands once more. The Pokémon turned around to face each other, and the referee was about to raise his flag… When the ceiling outshone his lantern again.

A mixture of yellow and brown covered the cave’s roof. Then, two beams of light shot, covering both of the creatures that were about to battle. When everybody could see again, Haneul found herself wearing the same rugged armor from before, while Phalanx felt quite less solid, but he was brimming with energy. Both Substitutes had undergone the very same changes.

Eager to get back to the battle, the Shinx prepared to have another shot at the attack she had failed to land before. Again, she summoned steel-type power from her essence, and liquid metal covered her tail, becoming solid quickly. She took careful aim, then unleashed the attack, and struck right between the target’s two body sections. The Substitute’s upper body swung wildly to the opposite side it was hit, and a large crack formed on the area that was hit. It wasn’t going to last much longer, for sure.

The true Lileep, too, moved to attack the opponent’s Substitute. He sucked some air in, then gathered the energy he had previously piled up inside his body… Then, he jerked his upper body diagonally, upward and toward the target. He spat a glob of sorts, that landed a solid hit. It made a crack, but, thanks to the rocky layer it was covered on, actually breaking the shell of life force wasn’t possible.

Haneul seized the opportunity to land one more attack at her foe’s nearly broken Substitute. She summoned her electric-type energy, which for now hid in her essence, and spat a bolt of lightning. It didn’t look like it made a lot of impact, specially not given some of the shock just bounced away, but it was just powerful enough to shatter Phalanx’s doppelganger.

Her own Substitute had followed suit against an invisible target, meaning it was within range. The real Lileep tried to lift its lower body as instructed… But they refused to cooperate, stubbornly stuck to the ground by suction cups. Mildly frustrated, he moved on to the plan B. He gathered several different kinds of body fluids near his eyes, then shot the mix of these substances from the gap in his upper body. It covered the target… And slid over pointlessly. You can’t poison a Substitute.

Catching the foe while he was busy being frustrated, Haneul shot one more bolt of electricity. A part of the attack was made useless because of how some of his nerve net was disabled, but, the part that did make an impact dug into Phalanx, reaching his few muscles and messing with the signals of the nerves. Now, moving was an even harder task for him.

The sea lily was starting to become wrathful. Struggling to keep himself cool, he somehow let some sort of voice echo inside him. It spoke a language none of the listeners could understand. His bright yellow eyes turned red, his petal-like formations stretched unnaturally. With a scream, the sound came to a standstill, and his body returned to normal.

As the Lileep was done activating Curse, he became calm again. He was still frustrated at how the round went, but, he was no longer hyper with energy. Likewise, Haneul’s armor crumbled itself into disappearing, just like it did the other round.

- This round, Haneul became Rock-type again and Phalanx became Electric-type. Oh the irony.
- Iron Tail on the first action landed a critical hit.
- Phalanx has Suction Cups; if he used Body Slam, I think he’d be using the upper part of his body, not his nigh-immobile lower body.
- Thunderbolt on the third action paralyzed Phalanx.
- blazheirio889 attacks first next round.

Fffff, bad typing. >.> Why do the RNG gods hate me so... You did forget the paralysis in Phalanx's status, though.

Well, let's just play around defensively this round. This time, Stockpile 20% energy. After that, use Ingrain, because we probably aren't going to be moving much what with Suction Cups and all. Finally, because we need that Substitute out of the way, use Ancientpower, and hope for those stat-ups.
If Haneul ever uses Roar, just shuffle your commands. On the 2nd action, if he manages to strike you with a special super-effective attack, use Mirror Coat.

ffff. If Phalanx is Rock type or doesn't change types use Ice Fang, if he's Psychic, Ghost or Electric type use Crunch, Thunder Fang for everything else. Repeat for the second action, and Toxic on the last.

Right as the trainers were done issuing commands, the ceiling became bright again. Light green filled all eyes that saw it, as a beam of that color raced for Phalanx. As the place became normal again, the Lileep didn’t look all that different, except that it looked more like its ancestors, instead of a fossilized then revived Pokémon.

Haneul didn’t have a hard time at all landing a hit at her nostalgia-struck target. Electricity running through her teeth, she leapt and bit one of his petal-like tentacles. While it wasn’t a painless attack, it certainly was rendered less effective by how the electrical chain was grounded with more ease when it coursed through something that was fixed on the floor.

Like he did in the other round, after taking the hit, the sea lily began to store energy from inside his body in the hollow part at the upper part. The amount was twice as high, however.

The Shinx on the other side of the field then took a leap, ready to repeat the move she had used earlier that round. Her teeth sparkling, she bit her foe, only to come across the layer of stockpile. While the attack was possible, it was slightly weakened.

Right after the attack, roots sprouted from Phalanx’s lower body, digging their way into the ground. They began to absorb nutrients as soon as they became as long as they would get.

Meanwhile, Haneul pulled some acids from her stomach, allowing them to get mixed with other body fluids in her mouth. As quick as possible, she spat the toxic liquid. As it reached the Lileep’s skin, it began to penetrate into his body, coursing through his systems. He could already feel a mild sting.

The sea lily prepared to counterattack… But, as he made an effort to pull the rocks out of the ground with his mind, he was suddenly disturbed. His other “disease” was acting up. His simple muscles stiffened totally. Although it couldn’t exactly show signs of such, he was in no condition to set his mind to anything but sitting perfectly still, waiting for the cramp to go away.

The immobile Pokémon began to regain its proprieties as an ancient being revived from a fossil, as his opponent watched him with some degree with amusement.

It didn't heal that much, but Phalanx didn't receive a particularly high amount of damage that round. Keep in mind that his defense is boosted and that he was being hit with attacks he resisted.

Ingrain usually only gives back 1% health an action, if that changes things.

The health is calculated per action? Should have guessed.

I'll fix the calculations, then.

Aha. There we go. >:3

I'm going to hope for.. what should we hope for? Uh. Start with Magnet Rise, simple. If he hasn't changed types or is Grass, Ice, or Psychic type use Signal Beam, if he's Fire or Water type use Thunderbolt, and if he's anything else use Crunch. Repeat.

Magnet Rise~Signal Beam/Thunderbolt/Crunch x2

Ahhh, Toxic'd... Oh well.

I see an onslaught of attacks coming our way, so let's set up a Barrier to lessen the damage, hmm? Not like you can move out of the Barrier, anyway. Then, we still need to get rid of that Substitute. *grumbles* Acid costs the least amount of energy, so I guess Acid's the way to go. Finally, use Confuse Ray to mess with him in the later rounds. If for any reason the Substitute is still there, instead use Stealth Rock - from what I can see, Haneul isn't in some alternate dimension when the Substitute is there, so he'll still take damage.
If you can't move around or anything due to paralysis, Chill during that action and shuffle your orders (the 3rd action's attacks remain detailed as above, however)

Barrier/Chill ~ Acid/Barrier/Chill ~ Confuse Ray/Stealth Rock/Chill
