Arena: Ship in a bottle
Ah, a ship in a bottle. One of those decorative things that breaks all logic whatsoever. Rather than the Pokemon being shrunken to fit inside that bottle, this is a case of an unusually large model ship. And bottle. The poor shmuck who built this is dedicated. There happens to be quite a bit of water inside this bottle as well, or at least enough for a Surf attack. Speaking of poor smucks, there is a 5% chance on every turn that the builder of this ship comes out of his house yelling. A lot. This distracts one of the battling Pokemon for one action, feeling a mixture of “Oh noes I’m sorry D:” and ‘SHADDUP old guy.”. Otherwise, the ship is like an old pirate ship, model pirates included. Five of them to be exact. Useful for either becoming a shield, reducing the damage done to the sheltering Pokemon by 1%, or a weapon, dealing 3% typeless damage. Sound based moves are banned, obviously (if we break it, that would be one angry old man..) and almost all weather altering moves except for Sunny Day, as the sunshine would still reach inside a glass bottle.

Somewhere in the world, there is a giant bottle floating.. somewhere. Well, it must exist, since in the bottle is a full scale replica of a ship (and not a sissy motorboat or anything, this is a Dutch galleon!), and the ship is where our battle today will take place. For a while, the ship floats undisturbed on the sea of.. water stuff of questionable authenticity, until the referee appears in the crow's nest with the bang and pop of displaced air.
It's begun. Muttering can be heard from inside the cabin, where the maker of this ship is silently crying about what will happen to his ship. With a smirk, the referee leaps from the crow's nest to the rigging, climbing down to the deck with ease. There's a tiny ship approaching, more of a makeshift rowboat than an actual watercraft. On it are the Trainers, and the referee helps them up onto the ship. There, now everyone's present.. Sides are taken and the referee nods for Pokemon to be sent out.
On Kai's side, a Feebas forms from the red light of his Pokeball. It's Karin, a female Feebas, of course. She can hear the water from the ship, and with a glance at Kai, slams her tail against the deck. Waterrrrrr. Typh throws her own Pokeball forwards, and as it opens and the red light starts to dance about, it forms into a Girafarig. It's Shawn, a male Girafarig. He looks at his opponent with a little smirk. Really? He would crush this fish! With a nod to the Trainers, the referee waves her flags. The Trainers quickly command their Pokemon, waiting for the actual battle to start eagerly. With a wave of her flags, the referee leans against the rigging and nods. Battle on!
Looking at the slightly incapacitated Feebas, Shawn snorts. He had to fight.. a fish. Really? This was kind of.. an unfair battle? Well, a battle was a battle. With a shrug, he begins to gather the energy in the air to him, creating a weak spark between his horns. Crouching down to get to Karin's level, Shawn releases the spark and rights himself as the Feebas twitches and shakes for a few seconds. She's still, and he sighs. Poor fish.
Karin struggles against her unresponsive muscles for a minute. Her commands weren't that hard.. she just had to get into the water. Right? With the thought, she slams her tail against the deck and rockets off the ship, landing in the water with a quiet
plop. Under the water, Karin sighs. She's more comfortable here, in her natural habitat. Take that, giraffe thing!
Shawn gallops to the edge of the deck as Karin plops into the water. He blinks as a droplet of water jumps up at him, and sighs. She he even bother to
try to get her with an attack? Very faintly, he can see a brownish shape in the water, and Shawn takes aim. Pulling a strand of energy out of the air, he calls on the energy of the natural world around them, tiny drops of green aura rising from the wooden ship deck. They collect and condense between his horns, and waving his head about for a moment, Shawn releases the green energy. It races towards the water and down for a few feet, before dissipating. What a disappointment.
Karin blows some bubbles under the water. There was an attack from Shawn, passing by her harmlessly.. so that was her signal to attack. Fluttering her fins, Karin swims deeper down in the bottle, tapping against the bottom. Huh. It seemed the bottle was incredibly shallow, then. Turning around, the Feebas flicks forwards, building up speed as she leaps out of the water and slams into Shawn, who's still staring over the edge of the boat. He screeches and backpedals, Karin flopping back on the deck with a happy gurgle.
Well, that was
pleasant. Shaking his head, Shawn kneels on his front legs and pulls energy up from within him. A white spark forms between his horns, and Shawn flicks it up. There's a bright flash of light, and the spark explodes into tiny star shaped sparks, all racing towards Karin. There's no way the fish can move out of their way, and even as she twitches, a few sparks dip under and jab into her side. She thrashes about as the sparks burn her scales momentarily, before fading into the air.
Karin looks up at Shawn with a single eye. He'd never actually fall in love for her.. for real, anyways. Right now the Girafarig was looking at her quizzically, as if she were some.. dead fish. Reaching out with her mind, Karin sends a strong psychic signal up to her opponent, messing with his emotions. A look comes over Shawn's face, and he begins to smile, a bit unnervingly. Karin quickly retreats and waits, as Shawn looks at her with a little smile. He'd never actually thought of her as beautiful.. but woah. Karin was smart and powerful, right? She did just dodge his attacks by being resourceful, and.. and slapped him in the face with her tail. Now that he starts to think about it, Shawn begins to feel a bit guilty for attacking her. Karin flops on the deck a few times, and the two are silent, waiting for commands.
