Stadium: Old Chateau Courtyard

Located in northern Eterna Forest is the crumbling old mansion known only as the Old Chateau. There are cobwebs, cracks and thick coatings of dust everywhere to be seen. Should one be brave enough to enter the Chateau they would find a back door leading to the outside. Upon exiting the ancient building, one would see the remnants of an old battleground for Pokemon that once upon a time must have been magnificent, but is now in a state of irreversible disrepair. Large oak trees that stood proud and tall with vibrant leaves now sadly droop their leafless, brittle branches. The once decorative shrubbery, first overgrowing before wilting, stand starkly against the dark forest. A strange greenish haze lingers, further making things creepy and ominous. The chateau looms intimidatingly over the field, the backside having a balcony that is now weathered and crumbling.

-10% chance that the haze will rise up and obstruct the vision of the Pokemon, reducing their accuracy by 25%

-10% chance that a chunk of the balcony's support beams may crumble and fall on the Pokemon's head if they are below it, dealing 20% damage.

-The setting of this stadium is very haunting and chilly, giving Ghost and Dark moves a x1.5 boost.

My own revised version of a previous challenge I accepted that went kerplop that the ref and I were pretty hyped up about. D:

Team Alraunne
Hoothoot [Tock] (M) <Insomnia>
Gastly [Boo] (M) <Levitate>
Kricketot [Maestro] (M) <Shed Skin>
Pachirisu [Mei] (F) <Run Away>
Hoppip [Spross] (F) <Chlorophyll>
Bulbasaur [Anthy] (F) <Overgrow>
Skelitten [Sully] (M) <Pressure>

Team FMC
Enculli [Roger] (M) <Mold Breaker>
Bidoof [Doomsday] (F) <Simple>
-->Signature Modification: Resistance to Criticism
As a Bidoof, Doomsday is often made fun of and criticized for being what she is. As a result, Doomsday acquired a thick skin, if you will, towards being made fun of. It is nearly impossible to make her angry, and she has an eternally cheerful and optimistic outlook on life.
Effects: Doomsday is always happy and cheerful, no matter what. Whenever she uses Return, it gets a 2% Damage bonus, while Frustration gets a 5% reduction. Taunt and Torment have a 50% chance of not working at all on her, and Swagger doesn't cause an Attack increase. Confusion caused by Flatter has a 75% chance of her hurting herself, however.

Prinplup [Jinkosen] (M) <Torrent>
Happiny [Pipiri] (F) <Serene Grace>
Sentret [Havoc] (M) <Keen Eye>
Cubone [Alleine] (F) <Rock Head>
Glameow [Kate] (F) <Own Tempo>
-->Signature Move: Glamour Shot
Glameow are known to hypnotize enemies with their large enchanting eyes, and Kate has perfected this ability. She looks her foe in the eyes, and sends them a mental signal that convinces them that they are the most beautiful creature in existence. If the suggestion is successful, the foe is completely in love with themselves, and will take every opportunity to groom, preen, strut, or just stare in awe at their own refection. This may cause them to ignore orders. The move will fail if the foe has no eyes, or cannot see due to darkness or other obstructions. It will also fail if the foe’s ability is Oblivious.

Psychic / 90% Accuracy / -- Damage /Energy: 5%/ Other / Effect: causes the foe to become attracted to themselves / Usage Gap: 2 rounds for the end of effects

[Apollo] Nidoran♂ (M) <Poison Point>
[Zarin] Eevee (M) <Steadfast>
--> Body Modification: Aura Born
Zarin's father was a Lucario, and by some miracle of breeding, he inherited some of the Riolu line's unique ability to control aura. The power is still weak due to his young age, but this grants him some new abilities. He has a small amount of power over his own aura and can use it to preform a few attacks, and granted him a new ability; Steadfast. These attacks are Mind Reader, Calm Mind, Dark Pulse, and a weak Aura Sphere. The Aura Sphere is not as strong as it could be if he were really a Riolu or Lucario, so it's base power is and is 70 instead of 90 costs 2% more energy. But this breeding also deprived him of a few moves that Eevee would normally be able to use, namely Growth, Trump Card, Last Resort, and Tickle.

Effects: Ability change to Steadfast, - Growth, Trump Card, Last Resort, Tickle. + Mind Reader, Calm Mind, Dark Pulse, Aura Sphere (70 power +2% Energy cost).

[Cookie] Budew (F) <Battle Armour>
--> Body Mod: Full Metal
Cookie was born quite different from most of her kind; She lacked the Poison type common to the Budew line, and instead was part Steel. This was attributed to the fact that there were Mawile a few generations back in her family tree. She lacks a few things that most of her kind have; the Poison type, of course, a few poison attacks, and the Poison Point ability. Instead she can use steel attacks and has the ability 'Battle Armour'.

Effects: Cookie is a Steel/Grass type. Ability changed to Battle Armour. - Sludge Bomb + Iron Head.

Hmmm. Okay Roger, we can do this! Too bad you're slower than him, but we'll manage.

While he's buffing, you buff too; but Swords Dance. Then, when he uses Aerial Ace, I want you to rear up so your mouth is what he's diving at, then latch on with Crunch. Finish with another Crunch; Don't let go!

My own revised version of a previous challenge I accepted that went kerplop that the ref and I were pretty hyped up about. D:

The notorious Old Chateau is a run-down old building in the north of Eterna Forest. Numerous suspicions surround this place, and despite just being a dilapidated old building, it certainly feels like it once served as the site of all kinds of horrors- murders, satanic rituals, and maybe even an episode or two of Deal Or No Deal. Its foliage of dead, crooked trees and unkempt brown grass gives an eerie contrast to the lush greenery of the forest encapsulating it. Nervously, the referee walks across the front courtyard and enters the building. Looking out for ghosts, monsters, and Noel Edmonds, he hurries through the mansion to the back courtyard, where Full Metal Cookies and Alraunne are waiting. He stands under the crumbling balcony overlooking the back door and the trainers take their positions. He nods to Full Metal Cookies, who drops a Pokéball to the ground and releases Roger the Enculli. Alraunne then sends out Tock, her Hoothoot, who wobbles on his one leg and takes in his surroundings nervously. The referee waves his flag and tries to think of a more fun way to announce the start of battles, and the battle begins!

The referee shakes his flag (mostly from the momentum of his arm shivering) and the trainers call out their commands. Tock hoots quizzically and swivels his head round to shoot his trainer a confused glance. Tail... wind? Whuzzat? He's never heard of an attack like that before... he knows Whirlwind, Ominous Wind and Silver Wind, but it doesn't seem like his trainer meant any of those moves. Rather apologetically, he hops into the air and flutters around the arena at tremendous speed before settling back by Alraunne. He hoots apologetically at his trainer, and wonders where he can acquire this "Tailwind" move. Seeing this tremendous display of athleticism, Roger decides to get moving too, and starts to slither his serpentine body in circles, warming himself up and pumping himself mentally for the battle ahead. He stops and faces Tock, feeling rather more vicious.

Tock flits up into the air again, flying several metres above Roger. The Enculli watches his ascent suspiciously, and Tock points his beak toward him and begins to rocket back to the ground. Seeing this, he opens his jaws wide just in time for the owl to jab him viciously in the head. Before Tock can fly away, Roger swings his jaws shut hard and sinks his teeth into Tock's body. The Hoothoot squawks in pain as the snake thing's jaws sink into him and latch on.

Tock thinks about his commands, and realises he can't do anything to get out of this bind- what with that failed combo and all. He hoots in frustration and flails ineffectually, much to Roger's annoyance, as he then bites down on Tock. Hard. The owl cries out in agony as the Enculli crushes him just a little too hard- that really smarted.

Not much has changed really. Roger has Tock trapped in his jaws in the centre of the courtyard where the battle started.

Final Notes
- according to Veekun, Hoothoot is unable to learn Tailwind, so I cut it out of the combo.
- the second Crunch was a critical hit and made Tock hit the damage cap.
- do the balcony crumbling/mist appearing chances refer to 10% per round or per action? I assume per round, given the huge damage/cut in accuracy, but I'd like to clarify.
- Alraunne attacks first next round.

Don't let go! Dig those teeth in deeper with another Crunch, then try and inject a Sludge Bomb right into him, and hopefully poison. Finish with another Crunch. If you do get dislodged, then try and latch back on again if he gets too close and shift your orders over, otherwise, use Dark Pulse.

Still clamped in Roger's jaws, Tock hoots and struggles crossly. He does not appreciate being this snake-thing's chew toy one bit, and doesn't hesitate to let him know that. He pivots his head round and starts to peck the Enculli's face relentlessly, hooting and flapping his wings furiously. Roger opens his mouth to snarl in pain and surprise, and Tock takes the opportunity to struggle free before beating the living daylights out of his erstwhile captor. He then hops away from the bruised and battered Enculli and hoots calmly, feeling much better with all that off his chest. However, before he can flap away, Roger slithers up and sinks his fangs into him once again. Tock screeches in pain and frustration as his opponent's jaws sink back into him, trapping him for a second time.

Tock swivels his head to face Roger, leering at him iracibly, and raises one wing. He sweeps it in an arc some distance above the snake's head, forming a blade of wind that streaks down and slices into his flesh. Roger grimaces as the blade slices into him, and frowns, determined to teach the little owl a lesson for refusing to be bitten to pieces. He gurgles and retches, pulling up a glob of toxic slime into his throat. Tock gives a panicked hoot as the glob slides into Roger's mouth, and finally explodes, spewing brown goo out of the sides of the Enculli's mouth and racking the owl with pain. Tock begins to feel ill, and not just from the disgusting spectacle of an Enculli throwing up slime; he feels some of that sludge soaking into his body. Roger then adds to Tock's misery by clamping his jaws further into him, causing the owl to screech in agony again before suddenly going numb. Huh, weird. Despite the lack of pain, though, Tock can feel Roger's jaws hit a nerve... that's gonna smart come the next round.

Once again, Tock sits viced in the jaws of his nemesis. Just three rounds in and the wounds are starting to take their toll on the little owl. Growing ever more fed up, Tock tilts his head using his amazing owl-neck and delivers a defiant blow to Roger's forehead. The Enculli blinks from the small tap- that was mildly annoying. Getting a little bored of chewing, he decides to get his revenge by halfheartedly biting into the Hoothoot again. Tock screeches weakly; that hurt even more than before. He doesn't think he'll take another...

Still craning his head round to Roger, Tock stares deeply into his pupils. The owl's huge, wide eyes begin to glow an eerie red, channelling psychic signals into Roger's brain... as the Enculli stares into the red glow, transfixed, he begins to feel very tired... his eyelids begin to flutter as he tries desperately to retain his consciousness, but it is for naught, as his head drops to the floor and he begins to snore lightly. Tock rolls out of his captor's jaws, and weakly celebrates his freedom.

Glad to finally have some peace, and warily eyeing Roger, Tock sighs deeply at the moment's peace he's finally getting. Tucking his leg under himself, he nestles on the grass with a peaceful hoot, and starts to rest. As he does, his wounds start to heal and close up, and though still battered, he feels far less worse for wear and ready to start kicking some Enculli backside. That is, until the poisoning bites into him; still, no major setback, he thinks reassuringly, as the pain fades away for the time being.

Finally free of Roger's mouth, Tock ruffles out his feathers and gets ready to start fighting properly. First, he closes his eyes and taps into his psychic abilities, linking his mind to Roger's. He then starts transferring signals from his body to his opponent's, passing his poisoning into the Enculli. When his eyes open, Tock suddenly feels much more chipper, while Roger twitches and frowns in his sleep. He quietly hisses something before rolling into a tight ball, then continues napping quietly.

Tock squuezes his eyes shut and once again taps into Roger's subconscious, looking through his mind for his dream. However, when he finds it, he seems unable to make it disappear from his mind and consume it. Tock sighs and curses the Dark type for being so difficult, while Roger starts to squirm and mutter in his sleep again. He then gets up, eyes still squeezed shut, obviously still asleep and yet able to move freely... as his head lolls ominously, he begins to hiss insults at Tock, mocking how easily Roger was beating him and how easy he'd go down as soon as he woke up. This made Tock pretty worked up- "what position was he in to be so arrogant?", he thinks. "Just as I was starting to get ahead. What a jackass... I'll show him!". Roger's head then slams back to the floor, and Tock's provocation increased- Roger was clearly helpless. Time to really show him up, the bigmouth.

Tock thought about his commands... he really wanted to follow his trainer's commands and use Nightmare, but the red mist had come down, and Nightmare just seemed so... indirect. He hopped up to Roger and raised his wings, then brought them down on his head over and over, battering him senselessly. With a final, hard smack, Tock hopped away with a malicious but happy hoot, glad to have shown Roger what for AND followed orders. Then, for a second time, Roger's head rises up, and his eyes flap open eerily, though he still remains fast asleep... his eyes flash a bright red, and then he returns to his original position. Tock blinks. He gets the most bizarre feeling he's forgotten something... ah well. Probably still just focussed on how well he did last action when he hit that stupid Enculli with... wait, what did he use again? As he ponders, Roger flinches in his sleep as Tock's poison starts seeping into his system.

Still angry at Roger, Tock flaps his wings furiously, stirring up the air into a howling gale, which glistens and shines with a mysterious power. With a vicious hoot, he points his wings at Roger and the wind rockets across the stage, battering the sleeping Enculli and blowing him into a nearby rock with great force. Roger mutters and squirms before lifting his sleeping head again and opening his mouth to reveal a billowing orb of dark energy. He fires the ball at Tock, who braces for the impact, but it passes right through him without harm. He hoots in confusion, then snickers nastily as he realises what happened. Roger lays his head back down to continue snoozing.

Tock starts to feel much calmer; Roger was no real threat after all. No use getting so worked up by a few little words. He raises his wing and sweeps it in an arc in Roger's direction; as it sweeps, his wing creates a blade of wind that shoots towards Roger, hitting him in the face and creating a small gash across his cheek. Unperturbed, Roger sleeps on; suddenly, his tail starts to glow, covering itself in a shiny metallic coating. It lashes out from the sleeping Enculli towards Tock, but the Hoothoot hop out of the way at the last moment.

Tock begins to feel a little worn out by this point; he decides this is the perfect time to take a break, and flies up to the branch of one of the many dead trees to perch and catch some rest. Roger smiles in his sleep- it's not clear if he's having a good dream or has just somehow gotten into a good mood. He mutters for a second before flailing around at the empty space in front of him. Tock opens one eye and peers down at this, uncertain what Roger was expecting to achieve. He then sees him shiver with pain from the poisoning, and returns to his nap with a happy hoot.

Terrain Notes
Tock is now in a low branch on a tree near Roger.

Final Notes
- Taunt wore off after the first action.
- Roger's first Sleep Talk was Shadow Ball, which of course had no effect.
- His second was Iron Tail, which unfortunately missed.
- His third, Return, missed as well because Tock was in a tree and couldn't be reached.
- I deducted some energy from Tock for flying up to the tree.
- Tock's Disable went away after the third action.
- Alraunne attacks first next round.

Good job, Tock! Keep whacking away at it!

Chill/Silver Wind x 3

If he happens to wake up and use Protect, that's when you chill. Otherwise, full attack!
