.: Kam vs Ameroq01 :: Round One :.
2 v. 2 Single
Set
DQ: 5 days
Damage Cap: 40%
Banned Moves: OHKOs
Arena: Field With A Magikarp.
Welcome to F.W.A.M.! It's a basic arena, with a little pond in the middle. There's a Magikarp flopping about in this pool. You can attack this Magikarp, who has 100% HP (but no energy). Of course, this isn't exactly a regular Magikarp.
It is a basic Lv. 19 male Magikarp. You may attack this Magikarp if you wish. However, if it falls below 80% HP, it will suddenly evolve into a Gyarados that will attack a random Pokemon at the end of each action. The Gyarados's moves are chosen by the ref.
Magikarp (M) Swift Swim

Ameroq01 [Oo]
Chikorita (F) Overgrow

Reflect ~ Grasswhistle ~ Solarbeam
Status: Curiously observing the magikarp, though she’s glancing at Envy out of the corner of her eye.
Somewhere in the world, in a location unknown not because of secrecy but because nobody cares, there is a field. Despite the best efforts of the trainer who found it, the field evades description. Those who read the sparse notes taken about the field are likely to find themselves unimpressed, and certainly not interested enough to come and see the arena. It’s quite a shame; if they had, they would have known exactly why the field can only be identified with one feature: there’s hardly anything else to describe. A mostly flat expanse of short grass, but not enough so that either “short” or “flat” would be a useful descriptor; open sky riddled with clouds, like many fields; several weeds, but not many; a few pebbles and grassless patches of dirt; no bushes or trees or anything that could be seen from any distance away. In short, a field.
It is so featureless, so amazingly average, that the eyes of most people would usually pass it without thought. There is no life around here, as even the pokémon seem not to have realised the field’s existence, except for one lonely soul who has been unable to escape for an unknown number of years.
The magikrap—sorry, magi
karp—in the pond is probably the only reason Kam found this field at all, or at least why he was able to remember the field the moment he looked away. The poor weak fish was probably stuck here, just below the nineteenth level that would allow him to evolve, in a place devoid of anyone to beat him up and grant him those last few experience points. He’s not bitter, or really anything, and has probably gone insane from the isolation and lack of mental stimulation. Certainly, that would explain the blank, vapid look on his face, and why he doesn’t even seem to register the three humans until they have taken their places in a sort of triangle on the field.
The magikarp swims a little closer to get a better look. All three genders are represented here, with the male and female standing across from each other while the genderless one is right across from the pond, as if separate from whatever’s about to occur. Something red goes flying from the nervous-looking female’s hand, and explodes when it hits the ground. The magikarp watches the bright light coming from the ball, and belatedly wonders why the human went and exploded something quite randomly in this field. Then he notices there’s suddenly something pale green standing there, with a leaf coming from her head. Surprisingly, the chikorita turns her head and stares right at him, giving him a clear look into her strange red eyes. He gapes back. Then
something happens, another flash of light, and a dark blue figure floats over the grass. Floats! Like the magikarp does, but not in water!
The male human says something short in a loud, clear voice, and the female says something in return, but somehow they don’t seem to be talking to each other. They’re talking to… the pokémon? But the pokémon aren’t facing the humans; in fact, both pokémon are facing away from the human talking to them! This makes no sense, as far as the magikarp is concerned, and he doesn’t know what to make of it.
.: Actions :.
Chikorita drags her eyes only reluctantly at Envy, but she’s halfway to staring at the magikarp again when Envy launches into a brutal stream of insults. Chikorita’s jaw drops in shock when Envy smoothly moves to taboo topics and ruthlessly mocks everything Chikorita even vaguely stands for. At least, that’s what it feels like, but Envy’s just going after the most obvious things she can think of: Chikorita’s trainer, team, type, and species are the easiest, especially when combined with a mocking tone and a dark power weaved into Envy’s words.
The boiling rage rising up inside Chikorita don’t allow for easy compliance with Ameroq01’s orders, and just this once Chikorita doesn’t care about what her trainer might think. The anger is much louder. But she can’t think of anything. She might not have a hundred attacks, but it’s enough that she can’t think of one to use herself; she’s just filled with the need to hurt the stupid misdreavus. That’s what her trainer’s for, but her trainer’s giving her nothing! With a frustrated scream, Chikorita charges at Envy and leaps, swiping her leaf through the ghost’s body. The recklessness of her attack and disregard for anything else mean that she falls on her face, but she still leaves Envy shocked that it was possible for Chikorita to harm her like this.
In excitement, the magikarp tries to get in on the action. He collects weak water energy from within and releases a cloud of bubbles into the air. The bubbles float up, unnoticed by either combatant.
Envy just continues her train of thought: well, then, she’ll lower Chikorita’s ability to attack at all, even with such a pathetic one as that. Her eyes glow purple. A beam of dancing lights swirl toward Chikorita, forming a cloud around her. The bright colours and lights flashing and disappearing in her vision leave Chikorita disoriented. Everything is too vivid, she can’t concentrate, but she’s still filled with an intense
need to attack Envy and her eyes failing her won’t stop anything. She peers through the swirling colours and finds a dark floating shape with those distracting red things and bright pink flashing around the edges every so often and—Chikorita staggers backward, but she manages to concentrate long enough to leap up and slash through Envy’s body with her leaf. She takes another tumble into the dirt, even more off-balance than usual, but she quickly gets to her feet. Even when swaying and feeling as though she’ll fall at any moment, Chikorita refuses to show weakness.
Naturally, the confusion shows, and Envy can clearly see Chikorita stumbling around everywhere. Pathetic, especially since Chikorita has four legs for added stability and Envy has nothing but her own power keeping her afloat. Maybe a little breeze will be enough to knock Chikorita over; that’ll be a nice sight. Envy breathes air into nonexistent lungs, and the temperature within drops at an unnatural speed. Then Envy releases the air in a frosty breath that makes Chikorita shiver. Surprisingly, though, Chikorita stops being on the verge of tripping, and glares up at Envy with an expression implying her vision is, at least for the moment, clear.
Chikorita grits her teeth. She wants to attack now, but there’s an option her trainer gave her, and something deep within her wants to obey her trainer. But it takes so long. She raises her leaf and draws in solar energy, but for every painful second she feels that she’s ready to
explode. She shudders, eyes narrowing, and doesn’t know if the power gathering within her is emotion or the solar energy. It doesn’t matter, because finally, it’s ready, gathered in her throat. She opens her mouth and unleashes a huge blast of white light, which envelops and tears through Envy’s body, blinding and burning, sharp knives Envy can
feel slicing everywhere, even on the inside. If Envy usually breathed, the attack would leave her breathless; as it is now, only mute shock accompanies the pain.
The dark power influencing Chikorita's mind fades, but the anger remains.
